Chapter 2 The video clip from chapter 2 focused on the marketing plan and its functions. More importantly, the video clip elaborated on the elements of
a marketing plan. One of the elements of a marketing plan is the business mission statement. Mission statement is the fundamental element of the
marketing plan that explains what business is the firm in and can further affect future trends of the firm, such as profitability and survival. The
statement is also based on the analysis of customers' benefits and industry's environment.
One of the great examples is Starbucks' mission statement, which is "To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup, and one
neighborhood at a time" (Gregory). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, a company's mission statement should emphasize on the overall market the firm operates in instead of only the good and service it provides
to avoid suffering from marketing myopia or too broadly stated mission statement. In the article written by Nathan Yerian, he clearly indicates the five
elements that a powerful business mission statement is consisted of. First of all, "substance over vagueness" is needed to provide the value of the
company and concrete actions (Yerian). Second element is "clear and focused," making sure the statement "have a discernible, linear direction" and
"speak to the umbrella that covers it all" (Yerian). Third element is "emotional appeal," which can make the mission statement more "energizing,
inspirational, and memorable" to further "build an emotional connection" with customers (Yerian). Fourth element is "a brand persona," which makes
the mission statement "an opportunity to showcase your company's personality and to stand apart from your competitors" (Yerian). Last but not least,
"longevity" of the mission statement "should be enduring and build to last through your company's changes in direction," since a business mission
statement will influence the company's future trend in earning profits and allocating resource (Yerian). Mission statement is a "key marketing tool"
that the customers will first notice (Yerian). Therefore, a correctly and properly addressed business mission statement that determines a company's core
values and customers' benefits will lay the foundation for the marketing plan and further affect company in decision making in the

Buddha Mission Statement
"Your purpose in life is to find your purpose and give your whole heart and soul to it" said Buddha. Defining one's values, visions and mission
statement for themselves is exactly what Buddha stated "your purpose in life". Without developing a mission, vision and values to assist in developing
a strategy, an individual cannot identify, distinguish or explain themselves to others. The importance of developing a vision, mission and values is to
help one become the most successful they can be along with being a productive leader. Values
– Values; values are beliefs that are important and guide
your life. During the ages 11 to 12 years of age my values just began to be shaped. I lived in a rural small town full of farmland known as Union
Bridge, Maryland and attended Northwest Middle School. People of Union Bridge are farmers, mechanics or small business owners. But my personal
home life could be understood as unlikely or unique. Before even entering the world, my mother was addicted to drugs and my father was
incarcerated, but as time went on and I grew older, things became worse. My mother died at the age of twenty–nine because drugs grabbed ahold of
her and she could not let go, leaving me to be fought over in the court system by both sets of grandparents until I was eleven years old, where I finally
resided with my maternal grandparents. My home life during this time influenced me to be shaped by artists like Eminem and Bruno Mars because the

пїјAnalysis of Molson Coors' Mission Statement
My choice of company for this assignment is "Molson Coors". As extracted from www.missionstatements.com, "The Operations team's mission is to

statement is that it gives readers a positive feeling about the manager's desire to take on all the big beer producing companies in the market by being
the best–performing supply chains in the global beer industry. This vision puts the team members in the proper mindset to achieve optimum
performance in delivering the right kind of supply chain success. In the beer industry, that's so serious about the spirit of merry–making, this is actually

Source A, And Source A And B Are Examples Of Personal...
Question 1:
a)Yes, I would agree that both Source A and B are examples of personal mission statements.
A mission statement is a formal summary of the aims and values of a company, organization, or individual. [1]
In Source A there is a list of aims and values that Mahatma Gandhi lived by, for example: "I shall not fear anyone on Earth. I shall fear only God."
Mahatma Gandhi's mission statement highlights who he was as an individual and his beliefs. He lived his life guided by those values and beliefs and
his actions are testament to this.[2] This satisfies what a mission statement is.
In Source B there is a list of Ben Franklin's Governing Values. Various disappointments in his life led him to compile a list of values to which he

I am going to compare Patagonia Outdoor Clothing's and Columbia Sportswear's mission statements. Both of these companies' focus provides clothing
for the outdoorsman. A mission statement is an important message from the company to all of their stakeholders. (King D. C., 2012) Patagonia
Outdoor Clothing's mission statement is to build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the
environmental crisis. Columbia Sportswear's mission statement is to design and deliver authentic, outdoor, high–value products for active consumers
of all ages. Both of these mission statements are different but do have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is clearly stated in both of their mission statements, the best product and high–value product. Aside from that, I do not feel that both companies
are heading in the same direction. Patagonia Outdoor Clothing clearly positions itself to consider what effects on the environment they will have in the
future. This is telling both the employees and stakeholders not only are they proving the best product, they care about the future of the planet and to
ensure it will still be here for our family and friends. Columbia Sportswear does not mention or even elude caring about the environment in their
mission statement.
A company's social responsibility is now a focus not only by investors but to consumers as well. Social responsibility is for organizations to behave
ethically and show consideration regarding social, cultural, economic and environmental issues. (What is Social Responsibility? Why is it Important,
2008) Patagonia Outdoor Clothing takes this head on. When the company opened its first store in Boston, Massachusetts all of the employees were
experiencing headaches. Upon a thorough investigation, it was discovered that their inventory of cotton based clothing in the basement was generating
toxic fumes. They used conventional cotton, which is the use of insecticides and other chemicals to grow the cotton. This incidence led Patagonia

Mission Statements : A Mission Statement Essay
Evaluating Mission Statements Most successful companies have a mission statement. But, why is it important for a company to develop a mission
statement? The purpose of the mission statement is to describe what a business provides and to whom they are providing for. A company's mission
statement is usually developed by those in upper management positions, the top leaders of the company. The mission statement is concise and it is used
to communicate to the company's customers, employees, and to anyone else what their business is all about; why they exist. However, there are good
and bad examples of mission statements lurking about in the business world. The purpose of this paper will be to examine the mission statements of
two companies, Home Depot and Nike, and to evaluate the effectiveness of each based on the criteria set by Erica Olsen's article, "Mission
Statements." Hopefully, after reading this paper, you will be able to identify the differences between an effective and non–effective mission statement.
According to Olsen (2016), "Your Mission Statement is the foundation to good strategy. It is a statement of the company's purpose. A mission statement
is a logical vantage point from which to look down the road." An effective mission statement can be evaluated by asking the following questions:
Is the mission statement focused on satisfying customer needs rather than on the product?
Does the mission statement tell who the company's customers are?
Does the

Therefore, the organization needs to place a focus on the long–term desires that they may never achieve. More or less, keep the brass ring just out of
reach in order to continue to strive for the next level while inspiring the team that is vested. The Honeywell FM&T vision statement does place
some focus on a few of the elements of an effective vision. These elements are outlined in the lecture as future oriented, compelling, bold, aspiring,
inspiring, believable, and achievable (Lecture). The elements that are easy to notice are the onese the focus on being compelling, bold, and
aspiring. The message does a great job by captivating individuals with words like, "world's most trusted source" and "providing exceptional
solutions". When we look at inspiring, believable and achievable, the organization can more or less hang its hat on the same elements with an
additional focus on "talented employees". A vision statement is designed to paint a picture and sort of play on the emotions of those involved.
Therefore, I think that there are aspects of the Honeywell vision that do exactly that. However, the element that appears to be lacking is a focus on
future oriented. The vision statement seems to focus solely on where they are now and leaves no room for growth. Honeywell has done a great job of
showing confidence in their abilities, just not the next

Mission, Vision, and Values An organization's vision is based on what it feels is possible to achieve, all about the potential it possesses. The
organization's mission is the process it employs to make that vision a reality. An organization's values are the fundamental principles that are
established by the stakeholders in an effort to guide the organization. An organization's core values must match up with the mission and its vision to
contribute to the overall success of the organization. The core values are what management practices and expect the employees to practice as well in

It provides direction to let the employees and stakeholders know "where the company is going". When forming a vision, the leadership must be realistic
about their market, competition, economic climate, and regulatory conditions and properly ascertain and espouse the values of management,
employees, and stakeholders (Schoemaker, 1992). A company's mission is its statement that communicates the purpose of the organization. It gives the
who, what, and why of the business. This successful completion of the strategic planning and execution process allows for the public and the
organization's members to see that the vision was established to be reality and not simply rhetoric, as is the case with many organizations that suffers
from confrontations between management and a lack of commitment to the organization's vision and values (Fiegener, Brown, Prince & File,1996).
The three organizations listed all took steps towards strategic planning and execution in the formation of their vision, mission, and values statements.
Creating The Future was by far the poorest example of strategic planning and execution. Their mission, vision and values are too ambiguous to
properly inform or inspire its members or supporters. On the other end of the spectrum, Oxfam and The Diaper Bank have strong, clear visions, and
mission and they are supported by a good set of core

Mission Statement and Code of Ethics For this assignment I choose to look at two companies I am currently working for. I have been with these
companies for a few years and I have worked in different positions within the companies. I feel I have a sense of how they are managed and can
compare my experiences with them to their goals of the mission statements and code of ethics.
The Home Depot Mission Statement The first company is The Home Depot. After reading the mission statement I feel that it fits the company. It points
out clearly being in the home improvement business and the main focuses are pleasing the customers, having the better price and more products than

Overall they were generalized. As an employee for the company I had not seen this until just recently when the district manager brought them to our
store so I read through it and signed a document confirming I had. I do think we live these values each day through our working habits in the
workplace but I feel the company is slacking with giving the information or expectations of the code to the employees. If the company doesn't provide
the knowledge and training really necessary to work by the company's code of ethics then what is the point of having one?
In conclusion The Home Depot mission statement and code of ethics were relatively good and the company does walk the talk they are giving out.
With Burger King the company's mission statement follows their main goal but I feel they are slacking with the code of ethics and not exposing the
employees to it. Overall I think both companies are good places to work and I have enjoyed being with them and feel I'm doing my part to contribute
to their goals.

Defining The Strategic Principle Of Mission Statements
1.Define the strategic principle of: Mission Statements.
As the authors Dess, McNamara, and Eisner pointed out in the text book, the mission statements is " a set of organizational goals that includes the
purpose of the organization, its scope of operations, and the basis of its competitive advantage". (p.26) In other words, a mission statement
communicates why the firm exists and how they are going to respond to their stakeholders. In order for a mission statement be successful it has to
have the following: a clear and specific knowledge of the purpose of the business, it has to inspires and motivates the business 's stakeholders, reflect
what differentiates them from the competitors, and it has to be easy to understand and easy to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, a personal mission statement has the same foundation in its creation as the mission of an organization. In both, we try to communicate
what our purpose is, why we are special, and how it is intended to please our client (stakeholders). In a personal statement, you might focus on actions
and decisions toward things that are most important to the individual.
My personal mission statement would be:
"Being an example of dedication, sacrifice, overcoming, humanity, and achievement for my family."
4.What role does a leader play in creating an Environmentally Aware Organization? Are there any things you think a leader should not do, if so, what
is each of these 'things '?
Is imperative that a leader be aware of the organization 's environment. As Ram Charan pointed out, managers become environmentally aware when
they understand his concept of perceptual acuity, which is "the ability to sense what is coming before the fog clears." (p.38) The leaders or managers
of an organization have to be involved in the inputs of forecasting. The leader 's role includes: (p.39)

progress.

Evaluating Organizational Mission Statements An organizational mission statement is more than just a grouping of words that looks good on a sheet

organizations statement of dedication to the organizations workforce and also to their consumers. The mission statement will also provide insight into
what the organization stands for and also the service that they imply that they will provide. There are many factors to consider when evaluating an
organizations mission statement but just a few of them are does the mission statement explain how the company will serve its members, is the mission

In the scholarly article entitled "The Relevance of Mission Statements: Analysing the Antecedents of Perceived Message Quality and Its Relationship to
Employee Mission Engagement," Desmidt (2016) proclaims that high levels of mission comprehension ambiguity in mission statements cause a
detrimental impact on motivational power (pp. 898–899). The ambiguity and length of the mission statement fails to meet the criteria for clarity. The
sheer length of space taken in the previous paragraph to cite the mission statement serves as evidence of its failure to meet criteria for shortness,
sharpness, and specificity. In the textbook Strategic Management for Organizations, Abraham (2012) defines a mission statement as a concise
statement and declares, "It should not contain statements of values, strategies, or objectives (although many companies make this error)" (p. 40).
Home Depot is one of those many companies who made this error by openly incorporating eight core values. Furthermore, the length and vagueness
also make the mission statement quite forgettable. The term broad is used to describe the company's selection of products, but can also be used to
describe its mission statement. In illustrating the criteria to be realistic, Kotler affirms, "The company should avoid making the mission too narrow or

Overall, Coca–Cola's mission statement defines its goals, policies, and values and defines the competency of the company. It indicates the company's
scope; the reach of Coca–Cola is world–wide. It does not, however, do a good job of stating why its operation is better than anyone else's. As a result,
it does not define the competitive environment. Most of the ideals that Coca–Cola lists are generic –– every firm wants to do good by its shareholders
and its customers. Consequently, the mission statement needs refined if it is to be taken seriously.

Purpose Of A Mission And Vision Statement
Businesses typically come in all sizes: big, medium and small. However, the majority of businesses require partnerships with other companies, from
the smallest of business owners to the largest of public offering companies. For example, a small business owner – of a grocery store, may operate the
store solely, but the business has a dependence on food & beverage distributors, in order to function. The same applies to a large public offering
company – that sells pharmaceuticals; the operation usually relies on scientific research facilities to purchase utility patents from. There are a
tremendous assortment of business categories, but the majority of successful companies all have a code of ethics, mission and vision statements in
place. The three instruments are used to establish rules/ regulations, organization , and a business plan of action.
What is the purpose of a mission and vision statement? Amission statement is a strategic plan of action. It defines certain regulations that the

Vision And Mission Statements Provide Information About...
Vision and mission statements provide information about the organization. They appear in strategic and operational plans. How do you define vision
and mission statements? How should they be developed and used?
The mission of a company is considered to be its purpose. Basically, it should include what you will provide, who you will serve and also highlight
your key attributes that should distinguish your organization from your competitors. There are no specific rules to develop a mission statement, what
really matters is that should be a reflection and a helpful synopsis of the organization as well as it should speak to your stakeholders. Some
characteristics that makes a mission statement successful is when it is succinct and can be printed in the back of a business card, when it is
memorable and unique. Lastly it ought to be realistic and current, for instance, the mission should be a description of the present and not the future
as well as it can not change constantly, in this case, when the firm changes its priorities, it is necessary to think if the new directions will affect its
mission. Vision is defined as the image that the organization aspire to became in the future. In order to develop a vision, it is important to ask how
will the corporation look like "x" years from now if they accomplish their objectives? Thus, this vision will essentially set directions for the
organization. There are some useful principles that makes a great vision such as, it should

Organisational Mission Statement
Organizational Mission Statements
An organization 's mission is its reason for existence.
It speaks to the questions: Why does this organization exist? Whom does it serve? By what means does it serve them?
The mission statement is the written expression of the basic goals, characteristics, values, and philosophy that shape the organization and give it
purpose. It seeks to distinguish the organization from others by articulating its scope of activities, its products/services and market, and the significant
technologies and approaches it uses to meet its goals.

Business objectives, and functional objectives make it possible to set targets. These targets then create a direction for activities.
Objectives
Objectives are concrete goals that the organizations seek to reach, for example , an earnings growth target. The objectives should be challenging but
achievable . they also should be measurable so that the company can monitor its progress and make corrections as needed.
The overarching aims of an organisation can be translated into specific activity objectives. For example, a section head in a supermarket may have
the objective at the end of each working day to make sure that there are enough employees scheduled to carry out the required work activities on the
following day. Individual employees will have their own work objectives and schedules – e.g. to make sure that a particular section of shelves are filled
by a given time.
Objectives therefore provide a clear structure for all of the various activities that an organisation carries out. By measuring how well an objective has
or has not been achieved, managers can make necessary changes to their activities to ensure progress and achievement of the stated objectives are made
within the timescale allocated.
Objectives within an organisation are established at a number of levels from top level corporate objectives, down to team objectives and individual
objectives that create a framework for

Revival Life Church Mission Statement Paper
I will be volunteering at Revival Life Church from February 6th 2017, until February 11th 2017. Revival Life Church mission statement says that
"Our vision is simple, to expand the kingdom of God by empowering people" (Thomas, 2013). After finding the mission's statement for my church, I
realized how much they fallow what they say. Revival Life Church actually does empower the people, and they put a huge priority on community. I
had already been a part of this church for a couple months before I decided to join the missions team, but what convinced me to join was how much
they love people.

I will likely see more woman, children and elders when I bring people through the food pantry. I suspect that I won't see as many men than I do

The kid's ministry is when I will see the children, and I can see what children are in poverty, although we will be going to a neighborhood so I suspect

Mission Statements For Family Business
"Family businesses are likely to use strategic ambiguity in their mission statements to allow for multiple interpretations of the same message by their
stakeholders," (Carmon, 2013). The author suggests that smaller organizations may use vague language in their mission statements for the purpose of
allowing for more than one interpretation. According to Carmon, "Thirteen of the 14 mission statements made no direct reference to being a family
business, perhaps encouraging non–family member employees to take an active role in the organizations," (Carmon, 2013, p.4). The purpose of mission
statement is to communicate the organization's strategic plan and this would be key for smaller family owned businesses since they may not have the
same recognition has larger organization. A family business would need to develop a mission statement that effectively states their purpose and action
plan to accomplish that goal.
This essay will summarize the research report's findings, offer a critique of those findings and how best to utilize mission statements for small family
businesses. The author wrote the research paper to examine the relationship of vague terms used in mission statements for family businesses. The
author's method was to survey twenty larger family owned businesses with no specific industry concentration or controlling percentage, (Carmon,
2013). The author evaluated the data by first reading the mission statements and than categorizing each of the statement in the

Mission Statement : Developing A Vision And Mission
Recently, I was consulting a company, and the discussion came up on mission statements. This particular company, as well as others I have consulted,
lacked a mission and vision statement. They are both successful organizations, however, there was lacking the critical element of what we do and why
we do it for their employees, and more importantly, for their customers.
An important theme connects the visions statement (the leader's strategic plan for the organization) coupled and certainly interdependent is the mission
statement (what we do, how do we do it, and whom do we serve?). Creating your organization 's vision and mission statements are the first two steps in
developing the planning process. Developing a vision and mission statement is crucial to the success of organizational initiatives. These statements
explain your group 's aspirations in a concise manner, help your organization focus on what is really important, and provide a basis for developing
other aspects of your strategic plan. "Mission statement help clarify what business you are in, your goals and your objectives," says Rhonda Abrams,
author of "The Successful Business Plan: Secrets and Strategies."
Additionally, Abrams advocates your mission statement should reflect your business ' special niche. However, studying other companies ' statements
can fuel your creativity. Specially, and listed below are useful tips to assist your organization in developing and crafting a unique and purposeful mission

Summary Of Creating A Mission Statement
The purpose of creating a vision and mission statement is to help promote the best imaginable environment for teaching and learning. Conzemius &
O'Neill (2014) state, "The vision is the best possible future that can be achieved when we focus on our most valued priorities and behave in ways that
are consistent with our core beliefs"(pg.240). By promoting a common goal attained by all stakeholders involved, the work and learning will becoming
more meaningful and achievable. Furthermore, a solid vision is only part of what it takes to support a learning organization. Stakeholders must also
develop a mission statement in which a purpose is stated on why the group exist and how to work together in order to attain the vision. According to
Conzemius & O'Neil (2014), "A clear statement of purpose that teams develop collaboratively will create cohesiveness, commitment, and
understanding. The mission gives meaning to our work" (p. 246). When creating the vision and mission for a learning organization, it needs to convey
important goals in an unforgettable way for maximum acceptance from all stakeholders involved.
When creating a mission statement, the Visalia cohort member were separated into groups to work together as a team to create a meaningful mission

What A Mission Statement Is And What It Should Look Like...
Examples are a great way to understand what a mission statement is and what it should look like. One example of an effective mission statement is
that of the Xerox company, which states, "We believe improving the flow of work is core to helping our clients be more successful and making the
world a better place. By providing our customers with business process services, printing equipment, and software and solutions, we enable greater
productivity, efficiency, work capacity and personalization" (Xerox at Glance, 2016). This is an outstanding example because it includes the
company's core values, the ways they plan to make a difference, and their goals. These components were all part of the steps to writing a mission
statement (steps two, three, and four). The Xerox mission statement begins by stating their core values which include, "improving the flow of work",
"helping our clients be more successful", and "making the world a better place" (Xerox at Glance, 2016). Next, the mission statement incorporates the
ways they are going to make a difference and put their core values to use by "providing our customers with business process services, printing
equipment, and software and solutions" (Xerox at Glance, 2016). The mission then states, "we enable greater productivity, efficiency, work capacity
and personalization" (Xerox at Glance, 2016), showing that Xerox's goals are to help businesses grow and succeed through the use of their products

The Mission Statement Of Coca Cola
Does Coca–Cola's website match its mission statement?
Mission statements are important because they show an organisation's purpose. It is important for companies to have a strong mission statement
because "a strong mission statement brings your essence into focus so it is crystal clear who you are, what you do, and why you do it."
(MissionStatements.com, n.d.). Therefore, it is important that a company's website reflects its mission statement because the site could be a first point
of reference both for consumers and stakeholders. Coca–Cola's mission statement is "To refresh the world. To inspire moments of optimism and

A Strategic Pl Vision And Mission Statements Essay
While libraries are often viewed as old–fashion places where books are warehoused, libraries are working at being at the forefront of information
institutions. An important part of staying on the cutting–edge of stakeholder needs is to have a well–crafted strategic plan. A strategic plan is like a
blueprint which takes into account what has gone on in the past and what current needs are, while keeping a focus on future needs. In order to
understand the overall impact a strategic plan can have on a library, it is important to appreciate the various elements which go into making a cohesive
plan. In this paper I will look at several elements of a strategic plan: vision and mission statements, environmental scanning, assessments, and discuss
how they connect to each other to form a greater whole.
When creating a strategic plan, a first step is the creation of a vision of the future for the library. A vision statement will focus on the positive, on
"sharing hopes and expectations of what the library will be" (Dole, 2013, p. 284). It is a tool which will be used in creating the rest of the strategic
plan, guiding in the formation of the mission statement. Crafting a vision statement, as well as the rest of the strategic plan, is something where input
from a wide range of staff should be gathered, in order to obtain data which takes into account the many working parts of an organization. Gathering
information from staff from the very beginning of the process will, "promote and

Starbucks Business Mission Statement

  • 1. Starbucks Business Mission Statement Els Dai Professor Perosio AEM 2400 12/26/2017 Chapter 2 The video clip from chapter 2 focused on the marketing plan and its functions. More importantly, the video clip elaborated on the elements of a marketing plan. One of the elements of a marketing plan is the business mission statement. Mission statement is the fundamental element of the marketing plan that explains what business is the firm in and can further affect future trends of the firm, such as profitability and survival. The statement is also based on the analysis of customers' benefits and industry's environment. One of the great examples is Starbucks' mission statement, which is "To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time" (Gregory). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, a company's mission statement should emphasize on the overall market the firm operates in instead of only the good and service it provides to avoid suffering from marketing myopia or too broadly stated mission statement. In the article written by Nathan Yerian, he clearly indicates the five elements that a powerful business mission statement is consisted of. First of all, "substance over vagueness" is needed to provide the value of the company and concrete actions (Yerian). Second element is "clear and focused," making sure the statement "have a discernible, linear direction" and "speak to the umbrella that covers it all" (Yerian). Third element is "emotional appeal," which can make the mission statement more "energizing, inspirational, and memorable" to further "build an emotional connection" with customers (Yerian). Fourth element is "a brand persona," which makes the mission statement "an opportunity to showcase your company's personality and to stand apart from your competitors" (Yerian). Last but not least, "longevity" of the mission statement "should be enduring and build to last through your company's changes in direction," since a business mission statement will influence the company's future trend in earning profits and allocating resource (Yerian). Mission statement is a "key marketing tool" that the customers will first notice (Yerian). Therefore, a correctly and properly addressed business mission statement that determines a company's core values and customers' benefits will lay the foundation for the marketing plan and further affect company in decision making in the ... Defining one's values, visions and mission statement for themselves is exactly what Buddha stated "your purpose in life". Without developing a mission, vision and values to assist in developing a strategy, an individual cannot identify, distinguish or explain themselves to others. The importance of developing a vision, mission and values is to help one become the most successful they can be along with being a productive leader. Values – Values; values are beliefs that are important and guide your life. During the ages 11 to 12 years of age my values just began to be shaped. I lived in a rural small town full of farmland known as Union Bridge, Maryland and attended Northwest Middle School. People of Union Bridge are farmers, mechanics or small business owners. But my personal home life could be understood as unlikely or unique. Before even entering the world, my mother was addicted to drugs and my father was incarcerated, but as time went on and I grew older, things became worse. My mother died at the age of twenty–nine because drugs grabbed ahold of her and she could not let go, leaving me to be fought over in the court system by both sets of grandparents until I was eleven years old, where I finally resided with my maternal grandparents. My home life during this time influenced me to be shaped by artists like Eminem and Bruno Mars because the message behind their top ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A mission statement is a formal summary of the aims and values of a company, organization, or individual. [1] In Source A there is a list of aims and values that Mahatma Gandhi lived by, for example: "I shall not fear anyone on Earth. I shall fear only God." Mahatma Gandhi's mission statement highlights who he was as an individual and his beliefs. He lived his life guided by those values and beliefs and his actions are testament to this.[2] This satisfies what a mission statement is. Both of these companies' focus provides clothing for the outdoorsman. A mission statement is an important message from the company to all of their stakeholders. (King D. C., 2012) Patagonia Outdoor Clothing's mission statement is to build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis. This is clearly stated in both of their mission statements, the best product and high–value product. Aside from that, I do not feel that both companies are heading in the same direction. Patagonia Outdoor Clothing clearly positions itself to consider what effects on the environment they will have in the future. This is telling both the employees and stakeholders not only are they proving the best product, they care about the future of the planet and to ensure it will still be here for our family and friends. Columbia Sportswear does not mention or even elude caring about the environment in their mission statement. A company's social responsibility is now a focus not only by investors but to consumers as well. Social responsibility is for organizations to behave ethically and show consideration regarding social, cultural, economic and environmental issues. (What is Social Responsibility? • 8. Mission Statements : A Mission Statement Essay Evaluating Mission Statements Most successful companies have a mission statement. But, why is it important for a company to develop a mission statement? The purpose of the mission statement is to describe what a business provides and to whom they are providing for. A company's mission statement is usually developed by those in upper management positions, the top leaders of the company. The mission statement is concise and it is used to communicate to the company's customers, employees, and to anyone else what their business is all about; why they exist. However, there are good and bad examples of mission statements lurking about in the business world. The purpose of this paper will be to examine the mission statements of two companies, Home Depot and Nike, and to evaluate the effectiveness of each based on the criteria set by Erica Olsen's article, "Mission Statements." Hopefully, after reading this paper, you will be able to identify the differences between an effective and non–effective mission statement. According to Olsen (2016), "Your Mission Statement is the foundation to good strategy. It is a statement of the company's purpose. A mission statement is a logical vantage point from which to look down the road." An effective mission statement can be evaluated by asking the following questions: Is the mission statement focused on satisfying customer needs rather than on the product? Does the mission statement tell who the company's customers are? Does the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More or less, keep the brass ring just out of reach in order to continue to strive for the next level while inspiring the team that is vested. The Honeywell FM&T vision statement does place some focus on a few of the elements of an effective vision. These elements are outlined in the lecture as future oriented, compelling, bold, aspiring, inspiring, believable, and achievable (Lecture). The elements that are easy to notice are the onese the focus on being compelling, bold, and aspiring. The message does a great job by captivating individuals with words like, "world's most trusted source" and "providing exceptional solutions". When we look at inspiring, believable and achievable, the organization can more or less hang its hat on the same elements with an additional focus on "talented employees". A vision statement is designed to paint a picture and sort of play on the emotions of those involved. Therefore, I think that there are aspects of the Honeywell vision that do exactly that. However, the element that appears to be lacking is a focus on future oriented. The vision statement seems to focus solely on where they are now and leaves no room for growth. When forming a vision, the leadership must be realistic about their market, competition, economic climate, and regulatory conditions and properly ascertain and espouse the values of management, employees, and stakeholders (Schoemaker, 1992). A company's mission is its statement that communicates the purpose of the organization. It gives the who, what, and why of the business. This successful completion of the strategic planning and execution process allows for the public and the organization's members to see that the vision was established to be reality and not simply rhetoric, as is the case with many organizations that suffers from confrontations between management and a lack of commitment to the organization's vision and values (Fiegener, Brown, Prince & File,1996). The three organizations listed all took steps towards strategic planning and execution in the formation of their vision, mission, and values statements. Creating The Future was by far the poorest example of strategic planning and execution. Their mission, vision and values are too ambiguous to properly inform or inspire its members or supporters. Are there any things you think a leader should not do, if so, what is each of these 'things '? Is imperative that a leader be aware of the organization 's environment. The ambiguity and length of the mission statement fails to meet the criteria for clarity. The sheer length of space taken in the previous paragraph to cite the mission statement serves as evidence of its failure to meet criteria for shortness, sharpness, and specificity. In the textbook Strategic Management for Organizations, Abraham (2012) defines a mission statement as a concise statement and declares, "It should not contain statements of values, strategies, or objectives (although many companies make this error)" (p. 40). Home Depot is one of those many companies who made this error by openly incorporating eight core values. Furthermore, the length and vagueness also make the mission statement quite forgettable. The term broad is used to describe the company's selection of products, but can also be used to describe its mission statement. The overarching aims of an organisation can be translated into specific activity objectives. For example, a section head in a supermarket may have the objective at the end of each working day to make sure that there are enough employees scheduled to carry out the required work activities on the following day. Individual employees will have their own work objectives and schedules – e.g. to make sure that a particular section of shelves are filled by a given time. An important part of staying on the cutting–edge of stakeholder needs is to have a well–crafted strategic plan. A strategic plan is like a blueprint which takes into account what has gone on in the past and what current needs are, while keeping a focus on future needs. In order to understand the overall impact a strategic plan can have on a library, it is important to appreciate the various elements which go into making a cohesive plan. In this paper I will look at several elements of a strategic plan: vision and mission statements, environmental scanning, assessments, and discuss how they connect to each other to form a greater whole. When creating a strategic plan, a first step is the creation of a vision of the future for the library. A vision statement will focus on the positive, on "sharing hopes and expectations of what the library will be" (Dole, 2013, p. 284). It is a tool which will be used in creating the rest of the strategic plan, guiding in the formation of the mission statement.
