• Definition – an institution that teaches courses entirely or primarily
through online method.
• K-12 virtual schools and online learning is growing and expanding
at 30% annually.
• Virtual schools and online learning can be learned at home, on the
road, or wherever an Internet connection can be found.
• Parents of children in grades K-6 can expect to spend 3-5 hours
per day supporting their child’s education.
• In grades 7-8, learning coach time typically decreases to about 2
hours per day as your child becomes more independent.
• By high school, the parental learning coach role continues to be an
important, supportive element; however, a student are expected to
manage his or her own time with greater independence.
3. PROS FOR TEACHERS
• Instead of being in the classroom all day, you are e-mailing
and having a few face-to-face meetings.
• Teach and grade assignments at your convenience at home
or outside of the school.
• Teacher do not have to worry about disciplining the students.
• Teachers do not need to buy extra supplies and materials for
the students.

• Giving the students more freedom with their school work.
• Flexible pacing and an individualized learning plan.
• The convenience of accessing your assignments, lessons,
and much more with just the connection of the internet.
• Students can take their time and "listen" aka read, a
classmate or instructors communication.
• Students concentration is never interrupted by noises or
people talking in the class.
5. CONS FOR TEACHERS
•Requires additional schooling and training to perfect the teachings
of virtual education.
•Requires ample usage of internet in order to check assignments,
respond to emails, answer questions, etc. which may be time
consuming.
•Due to the lack of face-to-face interaction with students, teachers
may have a harder time gauging a students apprehension of terms.
6. CONS FOR STUDENTS
•By participating in virtual education, students have a limited and
decreased chance of the types of social interaction that traditional
schools offer.
•Students will have less support groups, forcing them to become
more independent in their studies, which may cause a decline in
his/her apprehension of key subjects.
•Virtual education will give students more opportunities to
procrastinate, which may also be detrimental to their educational
success.
7. PROS/CONS FOR DISTRICT
PROS
• Less staff and teacher to hire for virtual schools
• Districts do not have to spend money on material, supplies,
and resources.
CONS
• Online learning and virtual schools cost less then the
traditional public school.
• Districts will need to have the most recent and up-to-date
technology for staff, teachers, and students.
