• Empire is a British film magazine published
monthly by Bauer Consumer Media of
Hamburg based Bauer Media Group. From the
first issue in July 1989, the magazine was edited
by Barry McIlheney and published by Emap
• Empire is populist in both approach and
coverage. It reviews both mainstream films
and art films, but feature articles concentrate
on the former.
• As well as film news, previews and reviews,
Empire has some other regular features. Each
issue features a Classic Scene, a transcript from
a notable film scene. The first such classic
scene to be featured was the "I could have
been a contender" scene from On the
Waterfront.

4. TOTAL FILM
• Total Film is a UK-based film magazine published
13 times a year (published monthly and a
summer issue is added every year since issue 91,
2004 which is published between July and
August issue) by Future Publishing. The magazine
was launched in 1997 and offers cinema, DVD
and Blu-ray news, reviews and features. Total Film
is available both in print and interactive iPad
editions
• In 2014 it was announced online that Total Film's
website would be merging with GamesRadar's
website and all Total Film content would now be
located on the GamesRadar website.

6. MOVIEMAKER
• MovieMaker Magazine is an American publication focused on
the art and business of making movies with a special emphasis
on independent film.
• Founded by Timothy Rhys in 1993 as a small, regional
publication based in Seattle, the magazine now has a bi-
monthly international quarterly distribution of 54,000, a
readership of more than 197,000 and a direct subscribership of
more than 14,000, operating out of Los Angeles and Portland.
The magazine's website receives more than one million unique
visitors and generates over 109 million advertising impressions
each year.
• The magazine ran a long-running companion newsletter titled
Hands-on-Pages, and creates a weekly newsletter e-mailed to
more than 365,000 subscribers every month.
• Feature article topics include moviemaking techniques and
"how to", trends, technology and new product updates.
Content is directed at the audience as well as the artist through
discussion of contemporary independent and studio films and
classic cinema.
• In August 2014, the MovieMaker web site was relaunched with
a new design and new features such as embedded video,
greater interactivity and more frequent news updates
