 It is a process of receiving, interpreting,
and reacting to a message received
from the speaker.
 Listing can not be done only by ears.
One can listen with their eyes, sense,
mind, heart and imagination.



 Understanding what you are hearing but not putting
yourself in the shoes of speaker.
 If the speaker is not very bright or under-qualified so
there is no point listening to what they have to say.

Speaker and listener do not have
eye contact.
Listeners who are engaged with
speakers tend to give eye contact.
Lack of eye contact may be due to
shyness or may be due to lack of
confidence.
 Listener is Fidgeting
 May be doodling
 Looking on watch again and again
 Listener is distracted and start thinking
about irrelevant topic suddenly.
 It can occur when listener hears something that sets
off a chain of unrelated thoughts in their heads .
 If speaker is continuously interrupted
by the listener he feel disrespectful
and can not communicate properly.


 Listeners' mind is wandering somewhere
else then he can not be able to hear he
speaker.
 If the listener have some personal issues with speaker
he will not have interest then.
 If speaker argue with you on your opinion you can got
our hackles up.
 By race, gender, age, religion, accent, or past
experiences.

 Hearing impairment, noisy
environment, or loud music.
 Thinking about something else or
being emotional.
 Thinking that my ideas are more important then
those of other person or saying that I am always
right and the other is wrong is the major
stumbling block in the way of listening.
 Listening requires open mind and heart free from
emotions.
 If the mind is close for the other persons massage ,
there will be no listening.

 Loss of massages.
 Incomplete massages.
 Information gap.
 Poor administration.
 Language problem.
 Norms and values.
 Social relations.
 Concept of time.
 Gestures.
 Attitude and opinions.
 Emotions
 Status differences.
 Field of experience
 Closed mind.




  • 13. Speaker and listener do not have eye contact. Listeners who are engaged with speakers tend to give eye contact. Lack of eye contact may be due to shyness or may be due to lack of confidence.
