A good home and a good marriage make life worthy the living. The husband and wife must seek ways and means of making the home a haven. Bring up your children in a good home.
A GOOD MARRIAGE MAKES A GOOD HOME
1. A GOOD MARRIAGE
MAKES A GOOD HOME
Building a marriage relationship is not easy.
Marriage is a commitment that we are to see
through. In marriage a home is made which
brings together an environment of love and
belonging. When there harmony in marriage, a
good home then is there . When there are strives
in marriage then the home environment
becomes hostile for all.

2. • "Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than
a house full of feasting, with strife."
Proverbs 17:1 (NIV)
• To build a strong family, you have to make
your home a supportive environment. When
there is appreciation in the home and is
coupled with acceptance, love, and
encouragement, the bonds between family
members grow, and the home becomes a
safe haven for everyone.

3. • The home is the basic unit of society. From
homes come all teachers, government
leaders, businessmen, preachers, merchants,
everyone. From the home comes the
standards of morality of the nation. Society
reflects the condition of the home. There are
so many social problems in our nation; an
indicator of the state of our homes.

4. • There are so many problems in marriages and
homes today. There is so much failure and
unhappiness. There is domestic scene being
subjected to divorce, delinquency, strife and
tensions.
• “Does it have to be this way? Is this what
marriage and the home really is?” The answer
is emphatically NO, and it was never intended
to be that way.

5. • The marriage and home is where there exists
a relationship of trust, loyalty, faithfulness,
and confidence. Such relationship produces
immeasurable blessings. Proverbs 31:11 “the
heart of her husband doth safely trust in her;
So he will have no lack of gain”.
• Proverbs 31:12 “she will do him good and not
evil all the days of her life..”

6. • To have a good wife is a favour from God
(Proverbs 18:22). “A prudent wife is from the
Lord” (Proverbs 19:14). There should be
kindness, forbearance, cooperation,
consideration and longsuffering. It is no
longer “me, my, and mine,” but “we, us, and
ours” in all things.

7. • The home is where human ties of love and
compassion are at their best. This does not
mean perfection, but each one seeks the
other’s highest good. That is what love does.
• The home is where the young learn day by
day. In the home they see selflessness,
honesty, sacrifice for the right, morality,
honour, the dignity of labour, purity of speech,
respect for others, entertainment and
recreation compatible with living for God.

8. • In a home they learn to spend and be spent
for the cause of righteousness. They are
taught to respect God and His will and
respect authorities and rules. They learn to
discern between good and evil and have love
for the church.

9. • A home contributes to a good mental,
emotional and physical welfare also. In a
good home there is the undue strife, tension,
hate, competition and pressures that can and
do destroy good health in these areas.
• A good home is composed of people who
follow the way of the Lord and learn how to
cope with whatever life brings.

10. • There is always the source of hope, comfort,
assurance of ultimate victory and providence
of God.
• Happy homes produce happy people. The
home ought to be a haven in the midst of the
storm of life; an isle of refuge. In the home
one should expect help, encouragement,
advice and consolation from those who love
most. A home is a relationship that is the
nearest to heaven this world affords.

11. • We need to build strong homes for the Lord.
Homes build on the Rock of Christ and not on
the sinking sands of this world.
• Gal. 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23
Meekness, temperance: against such there is
no law

12. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT TEACHES US
ABOUT A GOOD MARRIAGE AND A
GOOD HOME
• A good home must have:
• 1. Love:
Our marriage and must be placed upon the
Rock of Christ. Many homes are in dire
trouble because their courtship was not
"Lord centered," but "lust centered.“
• Love is key in sustaining a good home.

13. • 2. Joy:
Joy in a home is the real essence of a home. A
good marriage will bring joy to the home.
We are to enjoy our children, they are gifts
given to us from the Lord. A wife or husband
leaving work arrives home and has the joy of
the family. Children are a gift in the family and
bring lots of excitement and joy in the family

14. • 3. Peace:
Imagine the troubled world outside and then
the peace that you get at home! We live
close. If we do not exercise the grace of God
in our marriages, and to our children, our
homes are doomed for failure. If there is no
peace at home, it can be very frustrating to
our children and ourselves too. Seek for
peace always.

15. • 4. Longsuffering:
Life is more than sleeping, eating, and
cartoons! What happened to our farming
families where everyone had responsibilities
or there was no harvest.
• Learn to have work ethics at home. The family
must learn to endure and take up different
responsibilities without rushing to get results.
Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 15
16. • 5. Gentleness:
Children learn from their parents about
gentleness.
• 2 Timothy 1:5 NKJV
• 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine
faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your
grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice,
and I am persuaded is in you also.
Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 16
17. • They look, listen and learn from the parents.
• The wife and husband should model
gentleness in their lives.
6. Goodness:
Goodness is usually seen as something we do
that appears as “good” but that is not true.
Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 17
18. • Goodness does not come from our good
works, it only comes from God. That seems
to be a major problem with all of us. We
think we are good when in reality we are not.
The reason we think we are good is because
we think goodness comes from what we do.
Jesus shows us that it does not come from
what we do. Lets teach ourselves and our
children that goodness is a virtue that a
home can receive from God.
•Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 18
19. • 7. Faith:
Faith is an important virtue every marriage
and family should have. Every home needs to
have daily Family Devotions.
• Mat 18:20; For where two or three are
gathered together in my name, there am I in
the midst of them.
Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 19
20. • Avoid family devotions at your own peril. If
possible start before you have children;
induct your children in family devotions and
they will continue in them when they will
have their own families.
Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 20
21. • 8. Meekness:
All the members in the home need to live
unselfish lives.
• The family is a unit. No one can act without
acting in accordance with the need of the other
member. A self centered family member can
destroy the entire meaning of the word
"family." Raise your children to "Bear one
another’s burdens." Stop them from saying
"mine." Teach them to say "ours."
Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 21
22. • 9. Temperance:
Our children are to be raised with loving
discipline.
Proverbs 22:15 NKJV
• 15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a
child; The rod of correction will drive it far
from him.
Thursday, October 25, 2018 Kigume Karuri 22
23. • Discipline is best learned and practiced at
home. In a marriage where the children are
not disciplined, there will be no order and
everyone will do as he wills.

24. • A good home and a good marriage make life
worthy the living. The husband and wife
must seek ways and means of making the
home a haven. Bring up your children in a
good home.
