2. CURRICULUM
Beginning Spanish (6 credits) (The Basic level is designed for students who
have no prior knowledge of Spanish)
Intermediate Spanish ( 6 credits) (The goals are emphasized and focused on
areas of greater complexity than the basic level use and verbal functions,
syntactic connectors, sentences, idioms and proverbs)
Advanced Spanish (6 credits) (This level focuses on the creative capacity of
each student and develop the ability to think in Spanish through the use of
technical and literary texts, analysis, descriptions and reports)
Dominican and Caribbean Culture (3 credits) (During this course students will
discuss and analyze Dominican and Caribbean cultures which are a complex
mix of diverse cultures.)
Caribbean Literature (3 credits) (This course explores works of classic and
contemporary Caribbean literary figures)
African Heritage (3 credits) ( This course will examine the Afro Caribbean
history, literature, and culture from the colonial period to the present.)
Dominican Gastronomy (3 credits) (This course will offer instructions and
explanations of the appetizing typical Dominican dishes)
Social and Community Services ( 3 credits) (This course allows student
involvement in the community within an international setting and also enables
students to practice their Spanish listening and speaking skills.)
Caribbean Dances (3 credits)
3. THE PROGRAM WOULD FULFILL THE FOLLOWING
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Foreign Language Requirement
•One year’s worth of cultural credits
•Internship Requirement
4. PROGRAM FEES:
Cost of $6,000 includes:
Tuition for twelve semester hours or credits
International airfare
Room and Board (two months)
All admissions and transportation in Dom. Rep.
Cultural Excursions and activities
