4. development for both male and female. Through our literature searches, female has
the more problems in sleeping than male. Therefore, this study examined whether
female or male get more problems in sleeping. Questionnaires and surveys about
sleeping habits and sleeping conditions were prepared. One hundred questionnaires
were given out to the students of Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus to fill up. It is
conducted around the school from the date 10th of January to 16th of January 2014.
Besides handing questionnaire papers around the school, the survey was also
distributed online, where there were 68 people participants. The main hypothesis of our
experiment is that female have more troubles in falling asleep at night than male.

Introduction
What is sleep? According to the Oxford Dictionary, it is quoted as ‘a condition
iv
5. of body and mind which typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the
nervous system is inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed, and
consciousness practically suspended.’ Sleep is one of the main necessities in a
human’s life. It is a physiological and psychological requirement. A good night’s
sleep helps in retrieving memory, remembering events and to restore the energy of
one man’s body. People cannot say that everyone has a good night rest every night,
there are some people who are facing sleeping difficulties every day and most of us
have experienced trouble sleeping at one time or another. This is normal and usually
temporary, due to stress. But if sleep problems happens all the time and interfere with
your daily life, you may be suffering from sleeping disorder. The lack of quality sleep
can have a negative impact on your emotional balance, and also on your health.
So, for this assignment given by Miss Pang, researchers had decided to do a
survey on ‘Sleep’. The researchers would like to find out whether if male or female
have more troubles or problems in sleeping. From the given answers and feedback
from students based on the questionnaire and online survey, researchers can get an
answer to see either male or female have more troubles in sleeping at night. So
through this assignment, the researchers hope to find out the answers through the
questionnaire questions and online survey.
