Describe your personal learning preferences (1 paragraph, 100-150 words) -
Answer EACH of the following questions:
In the beginning of the class, I did not take the learning preferences survey but I just took
the test and realized, I am more of a visual learner! My scores are ref:1, sen:3, vis:11 and
seq:9. Now that I think about it, I tend to like pictures, graphs along with the lectures to
help me review the material better and grasp the concept more. Overall, my learning
preference is what helps me understand the material as best as I can. If necessary, I can
always look back and research what other ways could also help me but for now, I am
content with being a visual learning. I think knowing your learning preferences does
make a difference because you know what suits your ability to learn best so you can do
whatever you need to make that happen.
Describe the learning pathway you chose at the beginning of the class (1 paragraph, 100-
200 words)
In the beginning of class, I chose the learning sage. I was successful in getting a broader
knowledge of social technologies because I was able to learn from three different
categories. The reason why I chose this pathway was because I like to learn about
different things and if I find one particular topic I am extremely interested in I would be
able to research more about it. If I were to only pick one topic, I would only be really
good in one topic rather than being open and learning about other topics. I did not change
my pathway because learning about multiple topics interest me.
Describe how the activities you completed contributed or did not contribute to your
learning pathway (1 paragraph, 100-200 words)
Which specific activities worked best for learning with others to use social technologies?
Social networking quest was more broad then the other subjects because it was just
general information that most people already know. It‟s always good to refresh on
information that you already know so it is still helpful.
Social bookmarking gave a deeper understanding because I never knew social book
marketing existed. It also gave me more in depth information such as giving a fact about
how a focus group used social bookmarking. I like being able to read facts because it
shows that the information is true. This was helpful because it shows me what social
bookmarking is about and the general information about it.

2. Games and MMOG works best with others because you are interacting with each other
through a game. If you are playing a shooting game, you usually have a group of people
you are playing with to help each other see the “bad” people.
Using one paragraph each, describe the top 3 social technologies you explored for learning
(3 paragraphs, 100-150 words each)
I used social bookmarking by using the links to help me research topics. There are so
many links that people contribute that I think it is a great way to research without having
to research too hard on something. The downside is that I have to research if the site is
reliable enough. Social bookmarking is a great a way for me to learn because I am
researching topics where I have to read through them to make sure the website is reliable
enough to use. It uses visualization because I am looking at the screening looking for
websites . I „am being hands out with researching. Social bookmarking is reflective
because it makes you think about what you are reading.
I used social networking such as facebook and aim chat to socialize with other people.
Technically, facebook and aim chat isn‟t really used for learning but to help gather
groups together for a study group to bring forth our ideas without having to leave our
home. In a way, it is still learning because I am brainstorming with my group on ideas
.this accommodates visual learning because I can be hands on with the situation by seeing
what I need to do and etc.
Gaming is another quest that is used for learning that I sometimes use. For grammar, I
like to play word with friends but I feel like it is not too helpful . I feel it is not too
helpful because sometimes, I put random words to get the points. But I do learn because
there are words that I would not have known without the game! The visual part that I like
ishow you can see the words and be able to move the words around. I feel like it
stimulates my brain better being able to connect with the words to my brain.
Synthesize your experience investigating your use of different social technologies for
learning (2 paragraphs, 100-150 words each)
Social bookmarking interest me the most as a learning tools because I have resources to
help me learn. Gaming surprises me the most because we can play games and learn at the
same time. Social networking does not seem to work as a learning tool because its more
about socializing with people amongst you. I want to explore further with social
bookmarking because I feel this is the most helpful tool for learning. These links are
beneficial to me because it can help with an essay or if I want to research something. The
links are already there for me to start researching!
Social bookmarking works best for my learning preferences because I feel it is more
useful then any of the other quests. I am able to learn because I will be researching a
topic and trying to gather as much information as I can. Gaming could also be helpful
because if the game is tailored to help me learn, then it would be beneficial. For example,
there are games where you have to build apartments with a certain amount of money, and

3. you cannot lose money! This is similar to having a real business or house which can help
me gear up and be more knowledgeable.
Describe how you will use what you learned in this class after this semester (2 paragraphs,
100-150 words)
I will continue to use the social networking as a source to connect with my classmates
because most of my classmates are on facebook now, so it would be the easiest way to
communicate. Facebook is also popular to help get business known because people will
“like” the page and other people could see the business. Facebook would probably not be
a good idea for a job, just because jobs like to keep it professional with work life and
outside life.
I will also continue to use the social bookmarking because I truly believe that the links
will help me with a research project. I know that all the links might not be reliable but
knowing that I have all these links to help me, is great. I will use the social networking
for non-learning purposes such as facebook. I go on facebook to socialize with my
friends not to learn! I do not have a quest that I will avoid using because I believe each
quest has something to offer and they are not useless.
