Port-Au-Au-Prince Haiti
Stepping off the plane in Port–Au–Prince, Haiti, a certain nervous and excitement feeling rushes
through the body as Haiti greets with its intense heat. Port–Au–Prince is the capital of Haiti, and
when thought of, a capitol looks like a nice city with wealthy people walking around to their busy
jobs. In Port–Au–Prince however, jumbles of people run around with rags for clothes, sitting on the
side of the street trying to sell to us "wealthy Americans" (or so they call us and so they think) what
they can. Driving out of the city there are seldom any cars but there are motorcycles and dirtbikes in
which the Haitians will pile on five people to get around. The children run up and greet people as if
they have known them their whole lives, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going to Haiti is an incredible adventure and it really puts in perspective how much I take for
granted everyday. Most Haitians my age have no bed to sleep on, a small shack which they call
home and share with their extensive families, and not a clue what they are going to do that day when
they wake up. In a way, which may sound selfish, I wish to live like them to feel what it's like to
always be happy and full of spirit regardless of the food they eat or the clothes on their backs. I have
many memories and experiences similar to the ones shared and I had moments like those spent with
Kata and the man during village ministry every day with various Haitians. The Haitians impact my
life more and more every second I am there, and even though Haiti may seem like the poorest
country in the world and the mosquitos are horrible, and the heat could drive one mad, I will always
choose Haiti over any other place in the world as my happy place, and there is not a place I'd rather
be than

Is Japan An Extraordinary Novel Performing Art?
As the music rose through the midst of tranquility, a woman by the name of Okuni with excessive
abstract makeup on her white–painted face like a mask, wearing an extravagant kimono with
sophisticated details, danced slowly in to the stage in a dry riverbed outside of Kyoto. She fiercely
dressed herself as a man to perform on stage, an act that had never been done before. Okuni
skillfully "danced like a jaunty, carefree man..." and successfully pushed back all conventional
boundaries of performance to create the first kabuki play (Thornbury 129). This woman offered the
world an extraordinary novel performing art that lives on through centuries of restrictions and
discrimination to become Japan's well–preserved cultural play.
Japan's cultural pastimes, namingly dances and dramas, contain more than a millennium of
uninterrupted history. The seriousness employed within different forms of play, theatrically
speaking, makes Japan an extraordinary and unique country. In all of Asia, where tradition is
generally subjected to assimilation, Japan's theatre culture stands out as an art form that has never
suffered a decline nor undergone any drastic change. The most traditional well–preserved form of
theater in Japan is kabuki. It is a theatrical form that harmonizes singing, acting, and dancing to
create a stylized performance. Kabuki's unique characteristics specialize in elaborate colorful
costumes, excessive makeup on white–painted faces, traditional Japanese folk music, and

Haitian Music: Rara Essay
Haitian Music: Rara Haiti has a very interesting history of culture and religion. Currently, while
Roman Catholicism is the official religion, Voodoo can be considered the national religion; about
half of all Haitians practice it. This culture and religious history – and current practice – is essential
in understanding one of the most important genres of music in Haiti; Rara.
One of the most important aspects of Voodoo is the summoning of the Lwa, or spirits. This is done
in a service and drumming is an essential part of this service because it provides music. Dancing is
also a very important part of the service. These services involve nearly everyone through either the
drumming or the dancing. There are two different types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Having said that, it is actually very much religious in ways that the other Caribbean festivals and
carnivals are not. Each Rara band is associated with a lwa; each band is usually asked to be formed
by that lwa. In fact, the Rara itself is a gift to the lwa. In the middle of the procession there is a
ceremony going on for the lwa of the Rara band. At the same time, they are "heating–up" their
instruments. Sometimes, they go to the cemetery so they can ask permission to capture zombi spirits
– recently dead – so that they can help to "heat up the band". This is a very complicated ritual. The
Haitians that practice Voodoo associate with the Jews because when the Haitians were African
slaves, the Europeans expressly considered both Jews and Africans to be devil worshippers. This
works into the Rara because many bands will perform elaborate passion plays about the suffering
and death of Jesus, while others will make straw dummies of either Judas, or a generic Jew, and
imitate what the Pharisees did to Jesus – dragging him through the streets and beating him – and at
the end of it they burn the doll, as opposed to Jesus hanging on the cross. In a different version of
Rara, it is believed that Rara is actually a Jewish festival that the Haitians continue in order to keep
ancestral Jewish traditions alive. In addition to the history and Jewish comparison, these Rara
festivals are thought of in a military sense; they are thought to be the military branch

Explain The Four Theories Of Language Teaching Activities
1. Please explain the four categories of language teaching activities (approaches, syllabus,
techniques and exercises), what these consist of and how they are related from one another?
According to Edward Anthony (1963), approach is the level at which assumptions and beliefs about
language and language learning are specified; syllabus is the design for carrying out a particular
language program; technique is any of a wide variety of exercises, activities or devices used in the
language classroom for realizing lesson objectives; exercise is a teaching procedure that involves
controlled, guided or open ended practice of some aspect of language. Theories at the level of
approach relate directly to the level of design since they provide the basis ... Show more content on

Fighting
Fighting, or kumite, is the freestyle use of moves one has learned. During this freestyle match, the
students may use any technique they have learned in their training for either defensive or offensive
purposes. Fighting is involved with probably only 30 % of skill the student has. However, this is a
very important part of the whole. As mention earlier, katas help in perfecting the moves and the
focus of executing them. On the other hand, fighting employs these moves.
Practicing in fighting will assist in the timing and rhythm of the execution of the move. In a kata
you have as long as you want to throw each kick, each block, each punch, and as much time to
move into the next stance.
During a fight, you must use these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of blocking all of these attacks, you can stop them. If you block the kick and follow up
quickly with your own set of attacks this will surprise the opponent and interrupt his rhythm. The
only way to get a good grasp on these ideas mentioned is to practice.
The only way to become a good fighter is to practice fighting. I don't mean to go out on the streets
and pick a fight with one person after another. Not only is that stupid it is also illegal. I mean to
practice fighting in a controlled environment where both fighters have respect for one another.
Fighters having respect for one another doesn't mean they are going to "take it easy on each other",
it means that if one is knocked to the ground the other isn't going to jump on top of him and
continue beating the crap out of him or if a good punch or kick is thrown the fighter getting hit
should acknowledge the attack and not get pissed off.
The Tae Kwon Do style of fighting is different than many other styles of martial arts fighting. Tae
kwon do could best be described as street fighting. It is mainly composed of kicks punches and
blocks, however there are a few take–downs and throws. When a throw or take down is executed in
TKD, one or two attacks are executed at the downed opponent, after that the attacker backs away.
This is because TKD is not wrestling or rolling around on the ground throwing

The Novel ' The Tale Of Heike '
"The Tale of Heike" centers around the war between two clans, the Taira or Heike in the story and
the Minamoto or known as Genji in the story in the 1100s. The work is often equated to other
historical pieces of work such as the Iliad, the general plot of the work revolves around aspects of
warrior culture and Japan during the medieval age. Since the piece was like other historical epic
poems, there is not single author and the story has evolved being passed down through an oral
culture before finally being transcribed. It is a great source for many themes important to the
Japanese, as well as insight into perhaps into Japan's military past. It is also sometimes referred to as
the "Heike Monogatari" and is a main source for information ... Show more content on

This is a great example of the reality of war, since there is often an us versus them mentality, is it
easy to lose one's humanity, but Kumagae still retained his empathy and realizes that he has no
choice, since it was born into war and it is his duty to fight. This compassion is often found in the
Japanese society, as caring for others is an important task. Additionally, throughout each version of
the story one object remains prevalent, which is Atsumori's flute. The image and sound of the flute
is tranquil, perhaps going along with the notion that though Atsumori was a warrior, he also was a
gentle person. The next section will highlight some differences found between all three texts.
Interestingly, Kumagae is named Kumagai in the Kabuki version of the story, a five–act play. There
is a forbidden romance between Sagami, a member of the Heike clan, and Kumagai. With the help
of Fuji no Kata, the couple is able to escape to Western Japan with their child. Later, Fuji no Kata
has a child, who is Atsumori, and this fact is known by Yoshitsune. In this story, Yoshitsune senses
that it is destiny for Kumagai and Atsumori to meet on the battlefield, and would be forced into the
predicament of not killing the boy because of his debt to Fuji no Kata or losing credibility as a
solider for sparing an enemy. He plants a message stating "Anyone killing a son must kill his own
son" implying that if Kumagai decided to kill Atsumori, that to repay the debt to Fuji no Kata he

Spanish Music Research Paper
From the flip of a switch, the Spanish music started. Blasting throughout the house. Here's how it
started..
We rang the doorbell at my grandpa's house and my uncle answers the door, "Hi Kata!!!!" he says.
"Hi Mayonnaise",I say. I call him that because of how white his skin is. As we were walking into the
house I noticed a light switch behind the kitchen wall that I had never noticed before . "Mayonnaise,
what is this" I asked. Before he could say another word, I flipped the switch and spanish music
started blasting throughout the house. It was a pretty small average house, but it had a giant garden
instead of a backyard with a variety of different fruits and vegetables. I was shocked, I jumped,I
definitely was not expecting that to happen in any possible way. I flipped the switch and the music
turned off. I asked my grandfather, "What is that!? "You like Spanish music?" After that whole
thing, I played monopoly with my brother and my uncle as my dad quickly fell asleep on the couch.
Once we had gotten a bit further into the game, my Uncle dared my brother to put a clothespin on
my dad's nose. As usually my dad snored like it was nobody's business, and the bad part was that it
didn't stop until he woke the next morning. So, of course my brother took the challenge and grabbed
a clothespin from the line and put in on my father's nose. My father stopped breathing for a second,
then quickly woke up looking like a dork with a clothespin on his nose. ... Show more content on

Periklanan Advertising Imc Indonesia
BAB I TINJAUAN UMUM TEORITIS 1.1. Definisi / Pengertian 1.1.1.

How Does Japanese Theater Manipulate The Body With Create...
An imperative component of theatre for decades, countless countries regard realistic techniques with
respect. Even though the non–realistic techniques have continued to remain prominent in numerous
cultures, the majority of people neglect to implement these techniques into their own methods.
However, embracing and adapting these techniques into realism would increase the effect that actors
could have on the audience. Thus, the question follows: How does Japanese theatre manipulate the
body to create effective acting, and how can actors apply them to realistic techniques? To determine
how Japanese theatre employs the body, I first describe the myriad of components and techniques
that Noh actors learn to utilize on the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This freedom is key to people such as Robert Wilson, who hate naturalism, and believe that."to be
natural on stage is to lie" (Janisheski). Unlike realistic techniques, which achieve their goals of
realism through facial expressions, these Japanese methods send a message using their bodies,
especially the feet. It consequently raises the question: How does Japanese theatre manipulate the
body to create effective acting, and how can actors apply them to realistic techniques?
Additionally, it is paramount to examine this since innumerable, granted not all, modern theatre
pieces lack a point of view, or fail to express it. This is why actors must follow the example set by
these techniques and apply it to themselves. Actors who only focus on creating a realistic
performance and showing emotion are only achieving their partial potential if they lack control over
their bodies. Noticing how society changes is also key, for even though Japanese actors attempt to
follow western methods, their theatrical culture is known primarily for Noh, Kabuki, and other
ancient arts. Tadashi Suzuki, founder of the Suzuki Method, consequently tried to modernize these
arts, bringing attention to the originals as its core. There is no one

Research Paper On Wado Ryu
Wado Ryu, a Japanese form of martial arts, is not one of the most popular styles, but it is definitely
one of the most effective styles to train in both mentally and physically. Wado Ryu has been a major
part of my life since I started in 2007, and I 've made my way up the ranks to second degree black
belt (nidan) since then. The research I did for this report helped me further my pursuit to be the best
martial arts student I possibly can be. This uncommonly chosen topic intrigued me, because there is
just so much I don 't know about Wado Ryu even though I 've been practicing it for most of my life.
This report helped me become a better student.
In this essay, the distinct techniques in Wado Ryu as compared to other styles will be ... Show more

Another thing is that it was originally considered more as a style of jujitsu, but today it is referred to
as a style of karate which translates to "empty hands". This can be understood as being void of
aggressive thought or as having no weapons in your hands. Wado Ryu was not very popular until the
year 1970 when it became truly established worldwide. Before that, it was mostly just in Japan. It
was from this point that Wado Ryu evolved into the art that is practiced today.
Wado Ryu 's techniques are very distinct from other styles of martial arts. First, the style stresses
flexibility, technique, and body movement over physical force which is very different from many
other forms of martial arts. Another thing is Wado Ryu includes a lot of shifting to avoid (nagasu),
parrying or blocking and countering together (inasu), and intercept or keeping close and pursuing
the opponent (noru). In addition, at the time it was created most arts dealt with grappling, take
downs, or weapons. However, Wado Ryu was among the first to deal with kicking, striking, and
blocking. Some of the noticeable techniques that make Wado Ryu 's style different from that of other
styles is its short and natural postures with body shifts to prevent attacks, fast combination attacks,
natural movements, and quick evasions and deflections. Also, in a round house kick (mawashigeri),
students use the instep of their foot to kick instead of the ball of the foot. This requires less
flexibility

Children 's Immune System For Disease Control And Prevention
Immunization remains one of the most effective methods to prevent the spread of pathogens among
human populations (Orenstein, Paulson, Brady, Cooper, & Seib, 2013). It seeks to pre–emptively
expose a host body 's immune system to harmful pathogens which it would otherwise encounter in
the wild, and thus provide immunity without infection (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
2014). Under normal circumstances a pathogen would infect the host, and proceed to impair the host
's vital functions. In most cases this triggers an immunological response where by non–specific
lymphocytes, such as T–cells or natural killer cells recognize an infiltrate and proceed to kill and
remove the disease (Fearon & Locksley, 1996). The secondary or ... Show more content on

In these cases severe harm can be done to the host, leading to high mortality rates in a population as
the diseases transmits through the susceptible population. Vaccines are often designed in accordance
with the specific disease vector or function of the pathogen they wish to provide immunization
against (Tritto, Mosca, & De Gregorio, 2009). As such, vaccines operate by providing the body with
a recognizable form of a pathogen, which is often deactivated, as in the influenza vaccines, lacking
any detrimental effects such as toxicity or transmissibility (Ahmed & Gottschalk, 2009). Some
examples of vaccine types include: toxoid vaccines which introduce a denatured exotoxin such as in
diphtheria, attenuated vaccines which contain live micro organisms that have been selected for in
lab for reduced virulence, and conjugate vaccines which mimic the polysaccharide coat covering
many bacteria effectively allowing the immune system to recognize them (Destefano, Price, &
Weintraub, 2013). In other cases, such as the Variola vaccination a less virulent or heterotypic form
of the disease is used to infect the host, and by close relation between the two micro organisms,
immunity to the more virulent strain is achieved after recovery (Riedel, 2005). Accordingly then,
vaccines

The "One to Thirty Six" (1/36) or the thirty–six English–C lessons in Boxing, are the FOA's, thirty–

supposed, by the FOA Gods, that the mysterious 36 chambers of the Shaolin Temple Boxing had

techniques at the Shaolin temple (from the Katas–techniques; Sanseru 36, Gojushiho 54, and Seipai

are 361 pressure points used in traditional acupuncture and shiatsu (plus roughly 350 more
"extraordinary" points identified by modern acupuncturists)." "These are the points used in kyusho–

which "36" are lethal)."

Karate Research Paper
Both judo and karate originated in Japan. However, these are very different and only have a few
similarities even though the people I have talked to seem to think they are interchangeable. One of
these is common in America. Everyone has done it, knows someone who has done it, or has at least
heard of it. When people hear of the other they frequently ask, is that the same as karate? Or they
may say, what? What? Oh, I never heard of that, what is it? Karate originated in Japan and in
japanese it means empty hand way. (karate international) Students learn how to punch, kick, spar,
and they learn katas. Katas are a large part of karate and are sequences of punches, kicks, blocks,
and yells. Katas mimic combat and are a big part of competitions. Typically, students learn a new
kata for every belt. These increase with difficulty as new skills are introduced. A white belt may
only do simple punches, yells, and blocks. A purple or brown belt will use advanced techniques such
as certain kicks or jumps. Karate is closer to a japanese form of kickboxing. In a competition,
competitors may spar or do katas. When sparring, opponents try to make contact by punching or
kicking. There are also competitions just in kata. Speed and endurance are important. A student may
have to hold a stance for an extended period of time or dodge a block or hit an attacker. Karate is a
self defense and people learn how to block attacks and defend themselves. ... Show more content on

can result in a failed attempt and would be bad in an actual situation when defense is needed. Both

"Yes I do karate, no that doesn't mean I'm going to beat you up, and no I will not randomly show
you a really cool complicated move"! Karate: an Asian system of unarmed combat using the hands
and feet to deliver and block blows, widely practiced as a sport. Karate is performed barefoot in
loose padded clothing, with a colored belt indicating the level of skill, and involves mental as well
as physical training. I have been doing karate for ten years I started when I was six. If you do the
math you would know that I am now sixteen. Karate has been a part a huge part of my. Every ones
goal in life is to find something that they will always love. Something that you can loose yourself
doing and no matter how bad of a day you're having when you do it everything is good again. For
some it's dancing, drawing, shooting, reading, but for me its karate. I will never forget my first class.
Learning how to do a front stance in a room full of 6, 7 and 10 year olds with a weird lady in all
white tell me that my leg wasn't far enough back. After that class I wanted to cry I'm actually pretty
sure I did. It seemed like the hardest thing in the world. What I dint know that in ten years time that
position would be completely switched. Now I am that weird lady a stark white gi telling little kids
to put there leg further back and to tighten their fists.
Ten years a have devoted my life to this amazingly tough sport but it hasn't been all rainbows and

The Dumb Waiter Is Written by Harold Pinter in 1957
The Dumb Waiter is written by Harold Pinter in 1957. Absurd is a movement that was centered in

God is non existed. it was popularized after an essay written by Franz Kafka. When it was

the ideology of the absurd. my personal remark below in which i am quoted, " Absurd is that which

Gambaran ini telah dilukiskan oleh Samuel Beckett melalui karya drama absurdnya yang pertama
iaitu En attendant Godot (Waiting For Godot).
diluahkan melalui pembentukan drama absurd barat. Konsep dan ciri seperti inilah yang diterapkan

Title: "Choosing the karate–gi"
Despite in the US and maybe in some other countries certain karate studios have their practitioners
wearing black or colored karate–gi, the traditional karate–gi is in white color. When it comes to
choose a good karate–gi, try to choose 100% cotton fabric. Cotton absorbs the excessive sweat

On the cost factor, some good authentic brands cost up to $500.00 for the jacket and pants, or even
more. Not necessarily, the lower cost of gis are not as good as the prestigious brands. There are
some local brands from local vendors offer a comparable quality without making a big hole in your
wallet. Furthermore, wearing the most prestigious brand of gi does not automatically represent a
great karate–ka, continuous practices do.
In conclusion: my ideal karate–gi is: 12 ounces and up; short jacket for daily practice and kumite;
longer jacket for kata performance; 100% cotton; multiple reinforced stitchings;

Before I start, there are some suggestions about the belt. In this particular case, the thick black belt.
Although, in the common practices that the belt never been washed since its first day. At least, that
is my experience for years. But, I suggest to wash the new black belt several times, hammer the belt
with a mallet, before the first use. Some practitioners even brush the belt, to make it looked old,
worn and torn. Anyway, the procedure helps the belt becomes softer and easier to tie. The color belts
available in the market are very rare to have the same thickness as the black belt, The valid
argument says that we don't hold the color belt

The Negative Effects Of Vaccines
Introduction In 1998, Andrew Wakefield published a paper in the medical journal The Lancet.
Wakefield and company had studied twelve children, and seemed to have made a connection
between the MMR vaccine and a syndrome they called autistic enterocolitis. Many people read the
article and were shocked at what was before them. Something thought to have been a saving grace,
was now being viewed as harmful. In 2010 Wakefield's article was retracted (Knopf, 2017), but the
damage had already been done. Parents are still scared to get their children vaccination because of
the adverse affects outlined by Wakefield. If the only supporting data has been retracted, why is the

They simply post online, and the movement expands exponentially. A Google search for
antivaccination blogs brings up three hundred sites involving the movement. (Poland & Jacobson,
2001).
How to Fix It There are many propositions for how to fix the spread of misinformation. One of the
propositions is to increase physician consultation about vaccinations. It was found that most people
got vaccinated after their physician advised it based on their age and condition (Jimenez–Garcia, et
al., 2017). This article states that because of this, health care workers are encouraged to discuss the
importance of immunizations and the risks of declining them. It is also suggested that factual
medical literature be made more easily available because false information is so popular and widely
available. To turn things around, the medical industry is advised to put the facts on the front pages
of the internet and social media (Kata, 2010). Still, some authors say that the freedom of choice
must not be taken away. Educated refusal must remain an option if the growth trend of unvaccinated
children is to be stopped (Poland & Jacobson,

different sign languages are used in different countries, like the many spoken languages all over the

Japanese Female Apparel Market For Japanese Women Essay
While the bubbly outfits with overflowing laces and floral patterns that highlight the soft and
sensitive characteristics once dominated the female apparel market in Japan, nowadays, Japanese
women prefer balancing out the femininity with some stylish mannish clothing. Figure 3, where the
woman matched her black lace dress and high heels with an olive–green military jacket, perfectly
exemplifies the chic "甘辛ミックスコーデ" (The sweet–and–sexy coordinates) adored by many
Japanese female consumers. The concept of "甘辛ミックス" is so well received in Japan because it
spices up the overall look with an exquisite aesthetic balance. Known for wanting to break away
from the mainstream, young Japanese female quickly adopted MA–1 jacket and the "girly–military
look" as a mean to expressive their individualism in contradiction to social norms. As a result, MA–
1 jacket has slowly become a wardrobe staple for Japanese young women.
Another significant aspect of MA–1 jacket that helps it secure its top–ranked position is its ability to
"casual down" a dressy outfit. Directly translated from the Japanese–made English word, カジュア
ルダウン, "casualing–down" coordinates means to dress–down, or to break down the formality of
fancy clothing (FASHION PRESS). A notable change in style has swept over Japan when people
began to embrace apparels that value both comfort and personal style. According to a survey
conducted by Jiratanatiteenun, Mizutani, Sato, Kitaguchi, and Kajiwara in 2011, "Casual [style] was

Sardono Essay
The Physical Turn and Improvisation in the Seventies
Cultural imperialism, in a form of New York's World Expo in 1964, stands on the background of this
part of the story. A young Javanese dancer, Sardono W. Kusumo was a member of the Indonesian
dancer contingent for the expo. Extending his stay in the city that had become an adopted home or,
depending on your viewpoint, a thrift store of world culture, there he met another young Indonesian,
just a couple years his senior, an emerging poet cum theatre artist by the name of Rendra. The
following six–months of his informal residency would be brief and memorable for Sardono and its
significance to Indonesian performance field would continue to resonate until a few decades later.

For Sardono, not the more cynical of the two, Jean's workshop was basically a hatha yoga session.
While the workshop's main contents were not new in their respective performance vocabulary,
Sardono was illuminated by Erdman's ability to appropriate the approach with a contemporary
framework that he found useful for developing a performance work. In the workshop, Erdman also
introduced them to her principle approach of improvisation. It is important to note here that
Rendra's introduction to the notion of improvisation as a modern theatre vocabulary might occurred
earlier, especially during his time studying at the American Dramatic Arts. Nonetheless, Sardono
underlines how Erdman taught her improvisation method systematically, which encouraged him to
think more about abstraction, imagination, spatial contact and bodily deconstruction, as he would
eventually develop as his working method in the seventies

Exercise Of The Gods : Exercise

The lost and Found martial arts Degree # 6 "Exercise of the gods"
Exercise was created by the Gods. As you may recall, from one of its earliest recorded origins 770
BC, Exercise began in Greece where the young men would train to become fit like the Gods. (From
Latin meaning exercitium=to keep busy, training or practice. And from exertus/exerere to
thrust/ex=out+serere"to attach/protect from sickness). Although, careful research shows that a
'vigorous workout' (Initiation), was performed in Africa thousands of years before, and that the
Greeks actually modeled themselves after the Nubian gods, in all manner Exercise and civilization.
The Greeks built schools and gymnasiums in the Geometric and Archaic likeness of the Egyptians,
and later in the different cultured Hellenistic styles. The Greeks place of training was called the
Palaistra, where they held Boxing and Wrestling classes, originally a place of worship to their
supreme God Zeus. Around 770 BC., they arranged to have contest in competitive sports and
exercises. This art of boxing and wrestling was called Pankration/ Pammachion, created by the
Greek mythical heroes Heracles (Heru'kalis) and Theseus (god Zeus). (The Greeks, Trojans,
Spartans and the men of Athens, were noted for their athletic strengths and ability.) Exercise is
considered a Calisthenics; and the word is derived from the mythical goddess "Kalis" known for her
beauty and strength, she also is identified with the Egyptian goddess

everything is alright and that's what family does. So, she was keeping loved ones close and during
that part when she was alone with Otto she also started hurrying to her mother. She missed her and

What Karate Means To Me
What Karate Means To Me What is karate? How do you define karate? I believe all martial artists
ask themselves this, but there is no definitive answer: karate can be of many things. It can be a sport,
an extra–curricular, a hobby, a way to exercise, and so much more. To me, karate has been a very
influential part of my life. Some may be surprised because I didn't say karate is the way of life or
karate is life. I believe life consists of multiple things but life wouldn't be life to me without karate.

  • 2. Port-Au-Au-Prince Haiti Stepping off the plane in Port–Au–Prince, Haiti, a certain nervous and excitement feeling rushes through the body as Haiti greets with its intense heat. Port–Au–Prince is the capital of Haiti, and when thought of, a capitol looks like a nice city with wealthy people walking around to their busy jobs. In Port–Au–Prince however, jumbles of people run around with rags for clothes, sitting on the side of the street trying to sell to us "wealthy Americans" (or so they call us and so they think) what they can. Driving out of the city there are seldom any cars but there are motorcycles and dirtbikes in which the Haitians will pile on five people to get around. The children run up and greet people as if they have known them their whole lives, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going to Haiti is an incredible adventure and it really puts in perspective how much I take for granted everyday. Most Haitians my age have no bed to sleep on, a small shack which they call home and share with their extensive families, and not a clue what they are going to do that day when they wake up. In a way, which may sound selfish, I wish to live like them to feel what it's like to always be happy and full of spirit regardless of the food they eat or the clothes on their backs. I have many memories and experiences similar to the ones shared and I had moments like those spent with Kata and the man during village ministry every day with various Haitians. The Haitians impact my life more and more every second I am there, and even though Haiti may seem like the poorest country in the world and the mosquitos are horrible, and the heat could drive one mad, I will always choose Haiti over any other place in the world as my happy place, and there is not a place I'd rather be than ... • 3. Is Japan An Extraordinary Novel Performing Art? As the music rose through the midst of tranquility, a woman by the name of Okuni with excessive abstract makeup on her white–painted face like a mask, wearing an extravagant kimono with sophisticated details, danced slowly in to the stage in a dry riverbed outside of Kyoto. She fiercely dressed herself as a man to perform on stage, an act that had never been done before. Okuni skillfully "danced like a jaunty, carefree man..." and successfully pushed back all conventional boundaries of performance to create the first kabuki play (Thornbury 129). This woman offered the world an extraordinary novel performing art that lives on through centuries of restrictions and discrimination to become Japan's well–preserved cultural play. Japan's cultural pastimes, namingly dances and dramas, contain more than a millennium of uninterrupted history. The seriousness employed within different forms of play, theatrically speaking, makes Japan an extraordinary and unique country. In all of Asia, where tradition is generally subjected to assimilation, Japan's theatre culture stands out as an art form that has never suffered a decline nor undergone any drastic change. The most traditional well–preserved form of theater in Japan is kabuki. It is a theatrical form that harmonizes singing, acting, and dancing to create a stylized performance. Kabuki's unique characteristics specialize in elaborate colorful costumes, excessive makeup on white–painted faces, traditional Japanese folk music, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Haitian Music: Rara Essay Haitian Music: Rara Haiti has a very interesting history of culture and religion. Currently, while Roman Catholicism is the official religion, Voodoo can be considered the national religion; about half of all Haitians practice it. This culture and religious history – and current practice – is essential in understanding one of the most important genres of music in Haiti; Rara. One of the most important aspects of Voodoo is the summoning of the Lwa, or spirits. This is done in a service and drumming is an essential part of this service because it provides music. Dancing is also a very important part of the service. These services involve nearly everyone through either the drumming or the dancing. There are two different types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having said that, it is actually very much religious in ways that the other Caribbean festivals and carnivals are not. Each Rara band is associated with a lwa; each band is usually asked to be formed by that lwa. In fact, the Rara itself is a gift to the lwa. In the middle of the procession there is a ceremony going on for the lwa of the Rara band. At the same time, they are "heating–up" their instruments. Sometimes, they go to the cemetery so they can ask permission to capture zombi spirits – recently dead – so that they can help to "heat up the band". This is a very complicated ritual. The Haitians that practice Voodoo associate with the Jews because when the Haitians were African slaves, the Europeans expressly considered both Jews and Africans to be devil worshippers. This works into the Rara because many bands will perform elaborate passion plays about the suffering and death of Jesus, while others will make straw dummies of either Judas, or a generic Jew, and imitate what the Pharisees did to Jesus – dragging him through the streets and beating him – and at the end of it they burn the doll, as opposed to Jesus hanging on the cross. In a different version of Rara, it is believed that Rara is actually a Jewish festival that the Haitians continue in order to keep ancestral Jewish traditions alive. In addition to the history and Jewish comparison, these Rara festivals are thought of in a military sense; they are thought to be the military branch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Please explain the four categories of language teaching activities (approaches, syllabus, techniques and exercises), what these consist of and how they are related from one another? According to Edward Anthony (1963), approach is the level at which assumptions and beliefs about language and language learning are specified; syllabus is the design for carrying out a particular language program; technique is any of a wide variety of exercises, activities or devices used in the language classroom for realizing lesson objectives; exercise is a teaching procedure that involves controlled, guided or open ended practice of some aspect of language. • 7. karate Essay Fighting Fighting, or kumite, is the freestyle use of moves one has learned. During this freestyle match, the students may use any technique they have learned in their training for either defensive or offensive purposes. Fighting is involved with probably only 30 % of skill the student has. However, this is a very important part of the whole. As mention earlier, katas help in perfecting the moves and the focus of executing them. On the other hand, fighting employs these moves. Practicing in fighting will assist in the timing and rhythm of the execution of the move. In a kata you have as long as you want to throw each kick, each block, each punch, and as much time to move into the next stance. During a fight, you must use these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of blocking all of these attacks, you can stop them. If you block the kick and follow up quickly with your own set of attacks this will surprise the opponent and interrupt his rhythm. The only way to get a good grasp on these ideas mentioned is to practice. The only way to become a good fighter is to practice fighting. I don't mean to go out on the streets and pick a fight with one person after another. Not only is that stupid it is also illegal. I mean to practice fighting in a controlled environment where both fighters have respect for one another. Fighters having respect for one another doesn't mean they are going to "take it easy on each other", it means that if one is knocked to the ground the other isn't going to jump on top of him and continue beating the crap out of him or if a good punch or kick is thrown the fighter getting hit should acknowledge the attack and not get pissed off. The Tae Kwon Do style of fighting is different than many other styles of martial arts fighting. Tae kwon do could best be described as street fighting. It is mainly composed of kicks punches and blocks, however there are a few take–downs and throws. When a throw or take down is executed in TKD, one or two attacks are executed at the downed opponent, after that the attacker backs away. This is because TKD is not wrestling or rolling around on the ground throwing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Novel ' The Tale Of Heike ' "The Tale of Heike" centers around the war between two clans, the Taira or Heike in the story and the Minamoto or known as Genji in the story in the 1100s. The work is often equated to other historical pieces of work such as the Iliad, the general plot of the work revolves around aspects of warrior culture and Japan during the medieval age. Since the piece was like other historical epic poems, there is not single author and the story has evolved being passed down through an oral culture before finally being transcribed. It is a great source for many themes important to the Japanese, as well as insight into perhaps into Japan's military past. It is also sometimes referred to as the "Heike Monogatari" and is a main source for information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a great example of the reality of war, since there is often an us versus them mentality, is it easy to lose one's humanity, but Kumagae still retained his empathy and realizes that he has no choice, since it was born into war and it is his duty to fight. This compassion is often found in the Japanese society, as caring for others is an important task. Additionally, throughout each version of the story one object remains prevalent, which is Atsumori's flute. The image and sound of the flute is tranquil, perhaps going along with the notion that though Atsumori was a warrior, he also was a gentle person. The next section will highlight some differences found between all three texts. Interestingly, Kumagae is named Kumagai in the Kabuki version of the story, a five–act play. There is a forbidden romance between Sagami, a member of the Heike clan, and Kumagai. With the help of Fuji no Kata, the couple is able to escape to Western Japan with their child. Later, Fuji no Kata has a child, who is Atsumori, and this fact is known by Yoshitsune. In this story, Yoshitsune senses that it is destiny for Kumagai and Atsumori to meet on the battlefield, and would be forced into the predicament of not killing the boy because of his debt to Fuji no Kata or losing credibility as a solider for sparing an enemy. • 9. Spanish Music Research Paper From the flip of a switch, the Spanish music started. Blasting throughout the house. Here's how it started.. We rang the doorbell at my grandpa's house and my uncle answers the door, "Hi Kata!!!!" he says. "Hi Mayonnaise",I say. I call him that because of how white his skin is. As we were walking into the house I noticed a light switch behind the kitchen wall that I had never noticed before . "Mayonnaise, what is this" I asked. Before he could say another word, I flipped the switch and spanish music started blasting throughout the house. It was a pretty small average house, but it had a giant garden instead of a backyard with a variety of different fruits and vegetables. I was shocked, I jumped,I definitely was not expecting that to happen in any possible way. I flipped the switch and the music turned off. I asked my grandfather, "What is that!? "You like Spanish music?" After that whole thing, I played monopoly with my brother and my uncle as my dad quickly fell asleep on the couch. Once we had gotten a bit further into the game, my Uncle dared my brother to put a clothespin on my dad's nose. • 12. How Does Japanese Theater Manipulate The Body With Create... An imperative component of theatre for decades, countless countries regard realistic techniques with respect. Even though the non–realistic techniques have continued to remain prominent in numerous cultures, the majority of people neglect to implement these techniques into their own methods. However, embracing and adapting these techniques into realism would increase the effect that actors could have on the audience. Thus, the question follows: How does Japanese theatre manipulate the body to create effective acting, and how can actors apply them to realistic techniques? To determine how Japanese theatre employs the body, I first describe the myriad of components and techniques that Noh actors learn to utilize on the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This freedom is key to people such as Robert Wilson, who hate naturalism, and believe that."to be natural on stage is to lie" (Janisheski). Unlike realistic techniques, which achieve their goals of realism through facial expressions, these Japanese methods send a message using their bodies, especially the feet. It consequently raises the question: How does Japanese theatre manipulate the body to create effective acting, and how can actors apply them to realistic techniques? Additionally, it is paramount to examine this since innumerable, granted not all, modern theatre pieces lack a point of view, or fail to express it. This is why actors must follow the example set by these techniques and apply it to themselves. Actors who only focus on creating a realistic performance and showing emotion are only achieving their partial potential if they lack control over their bodies. Noticing how society changes is also key, for even though Japanese actors attempt to follow western methods, their theatrical culture is known primarily for Noh, Kabuki, and other ancient arts. Tadashi Suzuki, founder of the Suzuki Method, consequently tried to modernize these arts, bringing attention to the originals as its core. There is no one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another thing is that it was originally considered more as a style of jujitsu, but today it is referred to as a style of karate which translates to "empty hands". This can be understood as being void of aggressive thought or as having no weapons in your hands. Wado Ryu was not very popular until the year 1970 when it became truly established worldwide. Before that, it was mostly just in Japan. It was from this point that Wado Ryu evolved into the art that is practiced today. Wado Ryu 's techniques are very distinct from other styles of martial arts. First, the style stresses flexibility, technique, and body movement over physical force which is very different from many other forms of martial arts. Another thing is Wado Ryu includes a lot of shifting to avoid (nagasu), parrying or blocking and countering together (inasu), and intercept or keeping close and pursuing the opponent (noru). In addition, at the time it was created most arts dealt with grappling, take downs, or weapons. However, Wado Ryu was among the first to deal with kicking, striking, and blocking. Some of the noticeable techniques that make Wado Ryu 's style different from that of other styles is its short and natural postures with body shifts to prevent attacks, fast combination attacks, natural movements, and quick evasions and deflections. Also, in a round house kick (mawashigeri), students use the instep of their foot to kick instead of the ball of the foot. This requires less flexibility ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Children 's Immune System For Disease Control And Prevention Immunization remains one of the most effective methods to prevent the spread of pathogens among human populations (Orenstein, Paulson, Brady, Cooper, & Seib, 2013). It seeks to pre–emptively expose a host body 's immune system to harmful pathogens which it would otherwise encounter in the wild, and thus provide immunity without infection (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Under normal circumstances a pathogen would infect the host, and proceed to impair the host 's vital functions. In most cases this triggers an immunological response where by non–specific lymphocytes, such as T–cells or natural killer cells recognize an infiltrate and proceed to kill and remove the disease (Fearon & Locksley, 1996). In these cases severe harm can be done to the host, leading to high mortality rates in a population as the diseases transmits through the susceptible population. Vaccines are often designed in accordance with the specific disease vector or function of the pathogen they wish to provide immunization against (Tritto, Mosca, & De Gregorio, 2009). As such, vaccines operate by providing the body with a recognizable form of a pathogen, which is often deactivated, as in the influenza vaccines, lacking any detrimental effects such as toxicity or transmissibility (Ahmed & Gottschalk, 2009). Some examples of vaccine types include: toxoid vaccines which introduce a denatured exotoxin such as in diphtheria, attenuated vaccines which contain live micro organisms that have been selected for in lab for reduced virulence, and conjugate vaccines which mimic the polysaccharide coat covering many bacteria effectively allowing the immune system to recognize them (Destefano, Price, & Weintraub, 2013). In other cases, such as the Variola vaccination a less virulent or heterotypic form of the disease is used to infect the host, and by close relation between the two micro organisms, immunity to the more virulent strain is achieved after recovery (Riedel, 2005). • 16. Karate Research Paper Both judo and karate originated in Japan. However, these are very different and only have a few similarities even though the people I have talked to seem to think they are interchangeable. One of these is common in America. Everyone has done it, knows someone who has done it, or has at least heard of it. When people hear of the other they frequently ask, is that the same as karate? Or they may say, what? What? Oh, I never heard of that, what is it? Karate originated in Japan and in japanese it means empty hand way. (karate international) Students learn how to punch, kick, spar, and they learn katas. Katas are a large part of karate and are sequences of punches, kicks, blocks, and yells. Katas mimic combat and are a big part of competitions. Typically, students learn a new kata for every belt. These increase with difficulty as new skills are introduced. A white belt may only do simple punches, yells, and blocks. A purple or brown belt will use advanced techniques such as certain kicks or jumps. Karate is closer to a japanese form of kickboxing. In a competition, competitors may spar or do katas. When sparring, opponents try to make contact by punching or kicking. There are also competitions just in kata. Speed and endurance are important. A student may have to hold a stance for an extended period of time or dodge a block or hit an attacker. Karate is a self defense and people learn how to block attacks and defend themselves. ... Directly translated from the Japanese–made English word, カジュア ルダウン, "casualing–down" coordinates means to dress–down, or to break down the formality of fancy clothing (FASHION PRESS). • 33. Sardono Essay The Physical Turn and Improvisation in the Seventies Cultural imperialism, in a form of New York's World Expo in 1964, stands on the background of this part of the story. A young Javanese dancer, Sardono W. Kusumo was a member of the Indonesian dancer contingent for the expo. Extending his stay in the city that had become an adopted home or, depending on your viewpoint, a thrift store of world culture, there he met another young Indonesian, just a couple years his senior, an emerging poet cum theatre artist by the name of Rendra. The following six–months of his informal residency would be brief and memorable for Sardono and its significance to Indonesian performance field would continue to resonate until a few decades later. In 2003, I was involved in organizing a gathering of a hundred performance artists from all around Indonesia, a rare week of retreat for a convivial sharing, and workshop ... While the workshop's main contents were not new in their respective performance vocabulary, Sardono was illuminated by Erdman's ability to appropriate the approach with a contemporary framework that he found useful for developing a performance work. In the workshop, Erdman also introduced them to her principle approach of improvisation. It is important to note here that Rendra's introduction to the notion of improvisation as a modern theatre vocabulary might occurred earlier, especially during his time studying at the American Dramatic Arts. Nonetheless, Sardono underlines how Erdman taught her improvisation method systematically, which encouraged him to think more about abstraction, imagination, spatial contact and bodily deconstruction, as he would eventually develop as his working method in the seventies ... I believe all martial artists ask themselves this, but there is no definitive answer: karate can be of many things. It can be a sport, an extra–curricular, a hobby, a way to exercise, and so much more. To me, karate has been a very influential part of my life. Some may be surprised because I didn't say karate is the way of life or karate is life. I believe life consists of multiple things but life wouldn't be life to me without karate.
