To compete with popular clubs and a new local bar called Chez Eve, Krull established the Bamboo
Bar, which soon became one of the leading bars in Bangkok.

In 1958 the ten–storey Garden Wing was built. It featured the city‟s first elevator and was home
to the Le Normandie Restaurant. In 1967, fearful that Thailand would fall to the communists, Krull
sold her share to Italthai which at the time was well on its way to becoming one of the country‟s
most significant mercantile groups eventually totally some 60 companies involved in almost all
aspects of the Thai economy.
Italthai had been founded in the mid–fifties by Giorgio Berlingieri, an Italian born in Genoa and Dr
Chaijudh Karnasuta, a Thai. Berlingieri felt that the Oriental had begun to rest on its laurels and had
dropped behind its competitors. He wanted to develop the Oriental into one of the best hotels in the
world. Too involved with his various businesses to devote time to the project, Berlingieri in
November 1967 appointed 30–year–old Kurt Wachtveitl (1937– ), at that time manager of Nipa
Lodge (a hotel that Italthai owned in Pattaya), as general manager of the Oriental. In 1972 the hotel
acquired an adjacent property upon which it erected the 350–room River Wing.

This will attract all types of suppliers including the labor suppliers. Again, they can use better
technology that can minimize wastages along the supply chain. A sustainable strategy should be to
uphold a stable cost effective labor supply over its probable competitors.
The overall industry structure
The Hotel Industry is characterized by large capital outlays, and elevated proportion of fixed
expenses. The competition mainly entails costs and differentiation of products and services. Income
from any hotel project can be upheld through room sales, food and beverage, exhibitions and
conventions, entertainments, shopping complex, car parking service, and Neon–Signage.
According to Porter, major rivalry arises from growth rate of the industry, number and size of
competitors, product differentiation, capacity augmentation, exit barriers and variety, and switching
costs. However, there is no switching of costs within the hotel industry.
The Hotel Industry in key cities has very high exit barriers. Therefore, there is a substantial diversity
in strategy and endeavors of corporations owning the hotels. For example, an airline can consider
maintaining a hotel to attract and retain the

with the esteem of the brand. The talent pool plays the crucial role in the success of the project, and
the company needs the employees with the personal vision in addition to the soft skills. So the
formula of the Earth Care Project can look as follows ('Phase 2' = 'talent pool and coach'+ 'new

Using two of the four forms of control (Knights and Wilmott, 2012) as a framework, use any of the

In answering this question you are expected to use relevant theories, models and ideas from Unit 2

This, along with the presence of the Carlson Family in the organization, helps to ensure that the
corporate culture stays strong and provides broad direction to the business. The culture also plays an
important in helping the company define itself to its employees.
However, outside of the senior management team an all–encompassing belief in the culture is less
pervasive, and use of the culture as a management tool is less effective. An employee's
understanding of the company culture is impact by the employee's national cultures and the location
of business unit. Outside of the United States, particular in my experience in Asia, when the
company's credo is translated into local languages, like Chinese and Thai, the words often do not
carry the same meaning. Even with transliterate the credo is not easily understood. This was
recognized by Halsall in 2008 who noted that national cultures may share different common values
creating a challenge for standardized management practices. We also seen that whilst many
employees appreciate the credo their motivation is driven by other needs, such as the security that
the wage brings, and the impact that the financial rewards can bring to their families. In these
instances the level of the financial reward far out weights the importance of company culture or
working environment.

The Importance Of The Hospitality Industry
With globalization and increasing interconnectedness between countries, today's organizations
operate in a rapidly changing environment which is fraught with complexity and uncertainty. Factors
such as increasing diversity among culture, people and nations is impacting global organizations.
Hospitality industry is one of the world¹s largest employers and brings people together in a global
community. It is undergoing a significant change with cross–border expansions in high–growth
markets and the threat of digital or tech disruptors. This is redefining the roles, responsibilities and
capabilities of leaders in the industry and has created a demand for professionals with a strategic
mindset, agility, strong leadership skills, and financial sophistication. Moreover, characteristics of
the industry such as dynamic travel trends, labour intensive workforce from different cultures, long
operating hours, intense competition and fast pace of developments requires a leader to have broad
understanding of property–development skills as well as operating skill–sets. Leaders should have a
clear understanding of the company's brands and its strategies as they enter new markets.
The hospitality industry is seeing consolidation, growth of tech start–ups, growing connection
between countries, greater competition, changing guest behaviours, dynamic travel trends and
economic instability. In a bid to understand effective leadership style and qualities that are key to

Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy
Introduction
There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service–based economy to an
experience–based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer
their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued
experience. The service–profit chain which links the employees', customers' and owners' satisfaction
stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic
and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every
place, they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic.
According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, "an experience occurs when a company
intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a way
that creates a memorable event" (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to create
a specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies
providing the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the
service–profit chain.
In every business and in a hotel industry especially it is crucial for every manager to understand how
to maintain employees' and customers' satisfaction while continuing earning profit for the owner.
First of all, every manager should comprehend the links in the service–profit chain, for example,

Impacts of Tourism Development
Sustainable tourism is an industry that attempts to make a low impact on the environment and local
culture while helping to generate income, employment, and the conservation of local ecosystems. It
is responsible tourism that is both ecologically and culturally sensitive. Meaning, sustainable
tourism activities have minimal impact on the environment and culture of the host community. It
aims to meet the needs of the present tourists and host communities whilst protecting and enhancing
needs in the future. According to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), sustainability
principles refer to the environmental, economic, and socio–cultural aspects of tourism development,

There are also a number of downsides to the area because of economic impacts that the travel and
tourism industry bring that mostly affects the locals of the area. First is the increase in living costs.
As more and more tourists come to the area, tourism related facilities increase the prices of their
goods knowing that most tourists can afford their prices. A good example of this negative impact is
taxi drivers charging tourists more than the usual. Second is leakage. Leakage is defined as the
amount of money for supplies and services paid for outside an area or in simple terms, money that
does not benefit the economy of the area. The economic benefits of the area can be lost if the goods
and services are imported rather than for the local goods and services to be used. Leakage can be
avoided by sourcing local materials, using local products, allowing local people to sell in resorts and
hotels and employing more local people. Third impact is the decline of traditional employment. As
the tourism industry grows there is a bigger demand for people to be employed in it. More and more
people are attracted to this industry for it provides a more attractive option rather than the harder,
lower paid traditional jobs. This then results to the traditional industries suffering for the younger
generation no longer want to learn the skills of the old jobs like weaving and thatchery resulting that

Holiday Inn has managed to retain these popular customers by giving them something back as a
return, which are the reward schemes, along with cheaper rates and discounts, although reward
schemes is the most popular way as it gives customers the chance to make the most out of their stay.
This is seen as a customer focus which is being used by HI's competitors.
Although their target focus is on business guest, HI are still able to attract other segment markets
with their facilities and products they have. This is based on their concepts which are production,
sales and marketing.
Looking at the production concepts, they have taken into account the segmentation market as a
whole, which has leaded them to keeping costs at a reasonable price just so it's affordable for their
segment market. With the prices being reasonable but not cheap, HI is able to use products which
can offer better quality and performances. This has given the hotel brand the advantage to not be
classified as a low budget hotel such as other high street hotels; Travel Lodge and Premier Inn,
whereas these hotels will not use quality as an essential.
Observing and measuring the segment markets
From looking at the behaviour variables for this hotel industry, in a consumer's aspect, it holds a
concentration on the middle market, although there are different ranges of HI's who tailor to the

The 's Of A Large Corporation Such As The Intercontinental...
The Organization's Resources
The interworking's of a large corporation such as the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) requires
careful examination to ensure the company can obtain and sustain success within the industry.
Throughout the internal environment analysis, the report will provide insight one the resources,
capabilities, core competencies, and competitive advantages being deployed by IHG. According to
the 2015 IHG annual report, "IHG brands primarily use a franchise based business model, where the
hotel group manages hotels on behalf of the hotel owners" (InterContinental Hotels Group, 2016,
p.12). In addition, the business strategy allows for an asset light strategy, where IHG can help the
hotel owners generate higher returns on their invested capital.
The ability to provide a system where the owners of the IHG branded hotel can achieve higher
returns on investment enables the investors to have increased confidence providing financing.
However, the strategy benefits IHG by reducing the risk on their side, while also freeing the hotel
group to reinvest their saving into the company. IHG generated 90% of their operating profits from
the asset light strategy, which is great considering the hotel group only has seven owned or leased
hotels in their system (InterContinental Hotels Group, 2016, p.13). While the business strategy
deployed by IHG is a great competitive advantage and resource for the hotel group, they do offer

Then we fell onto the bed and slow grinded on one another until we couldn't take it anymore. As he

A Report On The Russian Hospitality Sector
Growth of tourism in Russia has been rapid, fuelled by the nation's rich history and diverse
geography along with a strong economy. Russia has faced a growth in both outbound and inbound
tourism in the last decade.
According to Hilton Worldwide (2012) Russia is an upcoming important market with the maximum
number of potential hotel openings planned than anywhere else in Europe. Accounting the vast hotel

strategic developments of international hotel brands is of immense interest. This essay will analyse
the developments in the Russian hospitality sector, focussing on international hotel chains and
shedding light on the minority stake of local brands.
The hospitality and tourism environment of Russia has seen a considerable change since the 2000's,
with a growing need and to fulfil the void of role of the service sector in the country. Recently, the
interdependent sectors of hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism have been boosted through

Some authors consider it to be a type of interactive simulation that teachers use to involve students
and develop their understanding as in role–play the participants act the role of a character in a

(2005), this learning technique helps develop active–listening skills, social problem–solving skills
and demonstration of emotional empathy. Brummel et al., (2010) states that students appreciate the
role–play practice because it catches their attention as well as motivates them to learn and expand
their knowledge about the situation and how to resolve it in different ways. One of the most popular
approaches to role–plays in the "Role–Switch" model, which consists in learning from the inside out

The size of the hospitality and tourism sector in Russia has grown significantly over the last decade.
The events such as the Winter Olympics and country's first Formula 1 Grand Prix helped Russia to
improve its positions on the world tourism market. Many changes have been made since 2010 in the
enhancement of facilities and services. These changes helped Russia to strengthen the country's
position worldwide.
Hospitality sector in Russia
In 2013 a lot of tourists visited Russia (approximately 28 million people). Saint–Petersburg took 90
percent of them. Unfortunately, in 2014 the amount of tourist decreased approximately 40 percent.

The first Taco Bell restaurant is opening in Moscow this autumn. It also should be noted that the
development of the existing and the arrival of new players in the fast food niche are seriously
complicated by the existence of numerous mobile networks such as vagonchikov "Tonar", "crumb–
potatoes", "Steff", "People 's Kitchen" and many others, that combine extremely low prices and not
always indisputable quality. In contrast, hotel business is more valued in Russia than restaurant
sector. Hotel sector is having many difficulties because of low wages. Low quality of service has
had a huge impact on the overall image of the Russian hospitality industry, moreover, current
economic instability. International hotel companies have a huge impact on developing hospitality

industry. Their infiltration into the Russian market takes place in various ways: the addition of
already built hotels, the absorption of competing hotel chains and the construction of new facilities.
There are many international hotels such as: Hilton International, HYATT Hotels Corporation,
Capella Hotel Group, Domina Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Marriot

It is good for business travelers but people who planning to stay more days still need to get a visa.
That's why Radison Royal makes visas for their guests in order to attract them.. This service is free
for hotel guests. Guests can simply complete the application and email or fax it with a copy of the
first page of their passports and both sides of their credit card. The hotel will issue documentation

To compete with popular clubs and a new local bar called Chez Eve, Krull established the Bamboo Bar, which soon became one of the leading bars in Bangkok. 2 In 1958 the ten–storey Garden Wing was built. It featured the city‟s first elevator and was home to the Le Normandie Restaurant. In 1967, fearful that Thailand would fall to the communists, Krull sold her share to Italthai which at the time was well on its way to becoming one of the country‟s most significant mercantile groups eventually totally some 60 companies involved in almost all aspects of the Thai economy. Italthai had been founded in the mid–fifties by Giorgio Berlingieri, an Italian born in Genoa and Dr Chaijudh Karnasuta, a Thai. Berlingieri felt that the Oriental had begun to rest on its laurels and had dropped behind its competitors. He wanted to develop the Oriental into one of the best hotels in the world. Too involved with his various businesses to devote time to the project, Berlingieri in November 1967 appointed 30–year–old Kurt Wachtveitl (1937– ), at that time manager of Nipa Lodge (a hotel that Italthai owned in Pattaya), as general manager of the Oriental. An employee's understanding of the company culture is impact by the employee's national cultures and the location of business unit. Outside of the United States, particular in my experience in Asia, when the company's credo is translated into local languages, like Chinese and Thai, the words often do not carry the same meaning. Even with transliterate the credo is not easily understood. This was recognized by Halsall in 2008 who noted that national cultures may share different common values creating a challenge for standardized management practices. We also seen that whilst many employees appreciate the credo their motivation is driven by other needs, such as the security that the wage brings, and the impact that the financial rewards can bring to their families. Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy Introduction There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service–based economy to an experience–based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued experience. The service–profit chain which links the employees', customers' and owners' satisfaction stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every place, they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic. According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, "an experience occurs when a company intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a way that creates a memorable event" (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to create a specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies providing the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the service–profit chain. In every business and in a hotel industry especially it is crucial for every manager to understand how to maintain employees' and customers' satisfaction while continuing earning profit for the owner. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are also a number of downsides to the area because of economic impacts that the travel and tourism industry bring that mostly affects the locals of the area. First is the increase in living costs. As more and more tourists come to the area, tourism related facilities increase the prices of their goods knowing that most tourists can afford their prices. A good example of this negative impact is taxi drivers charging tourists more than the usual. Second is leakage. Leakage is defined as the amount of money for supplies and services paid for outside an area or in simple terms, money that does not benefit the economy of the area. The economic benefits of the area can be lost if the goods and services are imported rather than for the local goods and services to be used. Leakage can be avoided by sourcing local materials, using local products, allowing local people to sell in resorts and hotels and employing more local people. Third impact is the decline of traditional employment. As the tourism industry grows there is a bigger demand for people to be employed in it. More and more people are attracted to this industry for it provides a more attractive option rather than the harder, lower paid traditional jobs. This then results to the traditional industries suffering for the younger generation no longer want to learn the skills of the old jobs like weaving and thatchery resulting that ... Throughout the internal environment analysis, the report will provide insight one the resources, capabilities, core competencies, and competitive advantages being deployed by IHG. According to the 2015 IHG annual report, "IHG brands primarily use a franchise based business model, where the hotel group manages hotels on behalf of the hotel owners" (InterContinental Hotels Group, 2016, p.12). In addition, the business strategy allows for an asset light strategy, where IHG can help the hotel owners generate higher returns on their invested capital. The smooth voice of the singer gave me chills. Then Mont took my hand and held it gently. As he backed up out of the parking space with one hand on the steering wheel, I looked in the direction of my car. I wondered if we were going to his house or a nearby hotel. My question was answered when he pulled onto the interstate and took the next exit ramp. The signs for lodging had four hotels listed Staybridge Suites, Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites, and Best Western. My heart thumped as the sweet music continued to play. When I unbuttoned my pants and slid them down over my hips, he watched me. I gave him a little smile and took off my blouse next. "Come here," he commanded, as he stood up with a very erect penis. I walked over and embraced him. His lips tasted like the peppermint drink he drank back at the coffee house. Then we fell onto the bed and slow grinded on one another until we couldn't take it anymore. As he fondled my private areas, my thoughts ran wild. My bangles clinked as I reached down and guided his thick erection into my wetness. Damn, I don't ever remember it feeling this good, I thought to myself as I wrapped my legs around his lean body. I felt so good; I felt like drooling. I called for Mont as he slowly savored every plunge into my juicy love box until my cell phone rang. Mont stopped moving for a moment, and I stopped moaning. "I should get that; it may be you know who," I said, as I rolled my eyes. "No, I think that you know who can wait," he said, with a serious face, then he started to grind slowly against me again. Just as I was about to climax the phone went off again, and I got worried. "Mont, I really need to get that. Something maybe wrong with Tia," "Alright," he said as he withdrew ... Also, according to Van Hasselt et al., (2005), this learning technique helps develop active–listening skills, social problem–solving skills and demonstration of emotional empathy.
