• Energy Management Department takes care to optimize the consumption of energy of the whole
plant. The department is responsible for handling and distribution of by-product gases (Corex gas, BF
gas, LD gas, and CO gas), Special gases (Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon), LPG and process steam.
Roles &
Responsibilities
• Ensuring Critical Services for the Production Departments for their smooth operation, hot metal and
liquid steel production by providing gases like COREX Gas, BF gas, Coke Oven Gas, LD Gas, DRI gas, LPG,
special gases, steam and coal dust.
• Preparation, handling and analysis of MIS report, specific energy report, By product gas balancing
for all the shops, Utility reports, Billing, Invoices, sustainability report and other technical reports
sought by various agencies .
• Coordinating between different department and other companies for data collection for
preparation of MIS report, specific energy report, by product gas balancing for all the shops Utility
reports, Billing, Invoices and other technical reports sought by various agencies .
• Coordinating with colleagues for energy saving projects, Dust sampling, Gas analysis, Performance
guaranteed test, combustion laboratory setup.
• Ensuring proper utilization and minimum flaring of by product gases and Special gases.
• Studying and analyzing energy consumption pattern of various energy intensive units.
• Arranging data and filling of form for energy related activity and awards.
• Analyzing financial impact of different terms and clauses of agreement (Agreement done b/w JSW
and O2 plants for special gases supply, JSW and JSWEL for O & M of captive power plants and JSW and
JSW project for utility supply etc) and suggesting the management suitable solutions.
• Coordinating with all 4 oxygen plants for smooth operation.
• Coordinating with new oxygen plant for timely and successful commissioning.
• Coordinating to conduct the mandatory energy audit for designated consumers (JSW Steel
Vijayanagar, Salem and Dolvi) as notified by GOI.
• Documentation and implementation of standards required for ISO 9004:2008, EMS 14001 and
OHSAS 18001 in the department.
• Successfully got certification of ISO 9001:2008, EMS 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 for the
department
• Coordinating and assisting SAP team for implementation of SAP in the department as a core team
member of SAP team for MM, FICO, PP & PM module.
• Establish and ensure safe working practices and achieving zero accident targets.
