2. Entry 3
Date: 10/12/2015
Time: Periods 3 & 4
During this session we then
moved onto applying sound
within our footage.
In regards to the choice of
our piece’s soundtrack, this
had been completed by,
team member, Grace during
the planning task. Using this
planning, I was able to take
over the editing role for this
session, applying sound
within areas of the piece in
order to create specific
effects.
3. Entry 3
Date: 10/12/2015
Time: Periods 3 & 4
In regards to music placement, after some
discussion with my group we decided that by
leaving the breakfast scene silent, with only
the natural ambience remaining this allowed
for a tone of realism to be brought upon our
piece as well as helping to build tension as
the sounds of the character are emphasised.
This resulted in helping to build tension as the
audience, begin to ponder further events
within the piece as well as how such a trivial
beginning could lead to what’s to come.
Therefore also helping to incite enigma codes
in this way.
Throughout the remainder of the piece, I
applied small additional sounds, and music in
places in which I wanted the tension and
anticipation within the audience to be raised.
For example whenever the footage was
handheld, this signals to the viewer that the
killer is near. Therefore, in correspondence
within this connotation, I also decided to
encode an eerie ambience or diegetic sound
to the footage in order to further establish the
danger this character presents.
4. Overall…
In regards to my own personal contribution during
this session I would say that this had been one of
my leading roles during the editing process so far,
as I was able to make choices upon the
placement of sound in order to emphasise certain
moments within the piece, as well as gain the
support from my fellow team members, allowing
us to cut down some of the footage in order to
create for a smoother transition of sound and
editing. Therefore, this session brought us
continually closer to the completion of our final
draft.
