31. LRI Commitment to Respect
Treat others with the same level of respect that you expect
• Shouting, name calling, physical threats or verbal intimidation are never appropriate.
Conduct ourselves in a professional and pleasant manner
• Rude behavior is not acceptable.
• Do not exclude others from conversations by speaking languages that are unfamiliar to
them.
• Personal dislikes should not undermine professional behavior.
Create a positive working environment
• Supervisors should clearly define working hours and duties of their employees.
• Criticizing someone for failing to meet goals that were not clearly set is unfair and leads to
frustration for all parties.
• Talking behind someone’s back about perceived weaknesses instead of offering
suggestions for improvement is unacceptable, negative behavior.
• Being resistant to constructive criticism is also not productive and creates a negative
environment.
• Gossip in the workplace should be minimized. It can be very destructive and does not
promote a productive work environment.

In October 2013, we implemented an online employee suggestion system called Make My Day. Since then, we have received hundreds of suggestions that have resulted in many changes to our LRI work environment. Here are some highlights
East 100th Street Crosswalk – implemented employee suggestions to put up cross walk yield signs and re-paint faded crosswalk.
LRI Commons Café – concerns raised by employees about food quality and service is shared with internal and external food service teams. As a result the LRI Commons Café is the first main campus food service location to be remodeled and new food choices are added.
When EHP Pebble Physical Monitoring System implemented for Shape Up and Go Tracking, the only location for LRI employees to upload data is at the Alumni Library. Employees suggest adding a second location in the LRI Commons. Working with EHP, we have a second Pebble Receiver installed.
When new LRI employees are first assigned to the Mt. Sinai Parking Garage, more than half the lights in the facility are out creating a dark and scary place to park. Acting on employee suggestions, we work with Parking Services to have lighting repaired and additional improvements made to the facility, creating a safer and more secure place for employees to park.
If you want to take a class to grow your career, you can look at the classes that are available by checking out the Global Leadership and Learning Institute’s course catalog.
You can navigate there by (click) pressing the Education link from anywhere on the Cleveland Clinic Intranet.
Then you want to go this section that says “Develop Me” (Click)
Click on that and this drops down so you will see the link to the course catalog here (Click)
Here’s a few classes you might consider taking…There was still space available in these classes when we put this presentation together…
If you don’t have time to take a class…consider taking a Quick Burst…these are short online courses that you can take at any time…if you need to stop…you can just pick up where you left off later.
The Cleveland Clinic Intranet is also a great place to find a lot of information that will help you in your work.
First – (Click) This directory will allow you to find the phone number and email for almost anyone in the organization.
- The All Login Accounts link here (click) will send you to a page that will let you link to any webpage in the enterprise that takes a login. These could be things like the new OneHR Workday and Portal site, Kronos, EPIC or Concur, the system we use for travel reimbursement.
You can also link to the LRI’s main website by clicking on the Research link here (click)
And you can access the Learning Catalog I just showed by starting here (click) on Education.
This “My Services” link – can also get you to Workday…as well as employee discounts, the employee health plan, and tuition reimbursement.
