Systems theory sees the system as a set of related components that work together in a particular
environment to perform specific functions that are required of them to achieve the system's objective
(Walker, 2012). Most people are part of a variety of systems and subsystems. For example, a family
is seen as a system in itself but each member of the family may have different subsystems, such as
their peers, education, job, recreational activities, etc. and all of these subsystems play a role in the
functioning of the system being examined. Applied theorists of systems theory see the system as
goal–seeking and when they discuss a problem within the system, it doesn't necessarily mean that
something is wrong but rather that the situation needs to be better understood and a solution to be
found and implemented for the system to continue operating smoothly (2012).
The social worker has decided to utilize systems theory approach when working with the Brown

of policy to be addressed and passed than that of a parliamentary system. As Mainwaring and
Shugart explain because congress is separate from the executive office they can act on legislation

congress is exactly what it should be, to purpose and pass legislation, this allows for more serious

parts; the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and the laryngopharynx. Once air is inhaled it passes through
the nasopharynx which is located in the back of the mouth, proceeds down to the oropharynx, and
then into the laryngopharynx. There is a separate flap that covers the area where food is swallowed

system works with the nervous system in order to maintain homeostasis in the body. Independently

pineal, adrenal, and thymus glands. Each gland in the endocrine system produces, stores, and
releases hormones so when working properly the endocrine system plays an important role in the
body functioning correctly and staying healthy. The glands of the endocrine system work through a
feedback structure. For example, the hypothalamus will send a signal in the form of a hormone to
the pituitary gland that stimulates the pituitary gland to release a hormone into circulation. The
hormone secreted by the pituitary gland will then stimulate a target gland which will then in turn
secrete its own hormone. When the levels of this target gland get higher the hypothalamus and
pituitary glands will slow down or completely stop secreting each of their hormones. This type of
regulated feedback system results in a stable blood concentration of the hormones that are regulated
