TAKES INITIATIVE IN A CORPORATE SETTING
Becomes the champion of key ideas or new developments that support or advance organizational objectives; takes the lead in
changing the present status when there is a constructive purpose behind the new direction; understands the constraints
imposed by the formal structure of an organization and will be patient yet persistent in implementing ideas that improve or
modify current approaches; is unwilling to risk a potential threat to organizational goals by protecting traditionally acceptable
methods or approaches when a new initiative or direction would close the gap between the result that is expected and the
result that is achieved
• Champion new initiatives and takes action on opportunities to advance organizational objectives without prompting
• Are willing to take the lead in identifying issues requiring change even if others don’t initially understand or approve
• Do not promote change for the sake of change, and is more concerned with preventing missed opportunities than with the
possibility of failing or breaking tradition
• Recognize that change cannot be immediate in a complex corporate structure but persist patiently with initiating
improvements to the status quo
