3. What is the STaR Chart?

4. The School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart The STaR Chart is a tool designed to by the State to determine a school’s progress towards meeting the goals of the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology. It helps teachers determine their progress toward meeting the Long-Range Plan and District Goals. It helps establish a framework for measuring how well teachers are prepared to equip students with technology and skills.

5. The Key Areas There are four key areas assessed in the STaR Chart: Key Area I: Teaching and Learning Key Area II: Educator Preparation and Development Key Area III: Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support Key Area IV: Infrastructure for Technology

6. Classifications There are four classifications/levels of progress: Early Tech Developing Tech Advanced Tech Target Tech

7. What does a classification really mean? Early Tech – this means that teachers primarily use technology to supplement instruction (usually with no connections to content objectives). Developing Tech- this means that teachers primarily use technology to direct instruction and to support content objectives.

8. Advanced Tech - this means that teachers use technology in teacher led and some student- centered learning experiences and incorporate technology in their subject area TEKS. Target Tech- this means that teachers seamlessly integrate technology in a student-centered learning environment where technology is used to solve real world problems.

12. What does this mean for me and for our Campus?

13. Campus Goal As a Campus we promote meaningful use of technology. We as individuals must commit ourselves to a culture of learning and technology usage. We as instructional leaders must commit ourselves and resources to provide our teachers with what they need to succeed.
