This document discusses the challenges of discovering and verifying neighbor positions in mobile ad hoc networks. Existing systems that rely on neighbor position information can be disrupted by adversarial nodes advertising false locations. The proposed system addresses this issue through a fully distributed cooperative solution that is robust against independent and colluding adversaries. It allows nodes to autonomously verify neighbor positions while generating low overhead traffic. Results show the protocol can thwart over 99% of attacks under optimal adversary conditions with minimal false positives.
