1. The Lie –EvaluationbyJordan Wardle AS Prelim
The intro to the Prelimtaskworkedreallywell, the musicworkedwell withthe introductionof the
hit-mancharacteras he enteredthe building, the musicstoppedandrestartedashe entered
throughthe door. Thisworkedwell andtherefore hadapleasingeffectonthe restof the
introduction. The musicgave anintense feel givingthe feelingof actionanddrama. The match on
actionin these beginningscenesworkedreallywell asthe characterwalkedthroughthe doorswith
a smoothtransition, almostinvisible toaudience and gave aflowingeffectbetweenthe opening
shots. Havingan array of clips arrangedtogetherquickly, speedsupthe atmosphere andportrays
actionand fast paceddrama.
Once the hit man enteredthe roomwiththe victim, the 180 degree ruleswasnotbroken, until the
endwhenItwas purposelybroke toshow the audience somethingiswrong, asthe victim gets
murdered. This gave a nice effectasitsubtlysuggestedsomethingbadisgoingto happenanditis
inevitable someone isgoingtogethurt.
The camera anglesinthe interrogationscene couldhave beendevelopedbetter astheywere
lookingdowntobothcharacters, this removedany opportunity touse the downangle shotonthe
victim, asit wouldhave beenmisunderstood. There was alsoalotof emptyandwastedspace
aroundthe twocharacters whichdrewthe attentionawayfrombothcharacters makingthemless
importantas theywere quite small incomparisonwiththe scene. Twoof the importantshotswere
out of focusas I focussedincorrectlyonthe shoulderof the hitman, insteadof the face of the victim
whois speaking.Thisaffectedthe wayatwhich we saw the final clip, whichcouldhave easilybeen
avoided.
If I were todo thisPrelimTaskagain,I wouldhave tookmore care in the character placementand
setting,asI wouldwantto emphasise the importance of certaincharactersthrough.Iwouldhave
alsocheckedto see if the footage is focused correctlyonthe correct actors,to avoidcomplication.
