This series of presentation is
intend to cover the holistic
biographical information and
works of fine art of my father late
Prof. R.P.JOSHI.
He was an artist, art teacher, a
father with excellent values and
adorable family head. He created
new identity for us imbibing art
sensitivity
in his eight children.
My mother late INDUMATI
a gifted vocal classical singer,
inborn knitting craft artist and
the ultimate lovable, kind hearted
mother who created emotional
bodings
for the entire family.
This is an effort to express the
gratitude towards them
on behalf of my entire family.
My father wrote several articles
on art since 1942 till his death in
1987. His contribution to art of
woven textile design is also
covered besides paintings. His
views expressed through articles
on art education gives good
insights in today's context. It is my

This is Late Mrs. Indumati’s Embellished image of ‘Lakshumi’, this was a
trend during 1920s till 1960s inspired from several oleograph of Raja Ravi
Varma the famous Indian Artist of 20th century.

This is Late Mrs. Indumati’s traditional installation done with the help of family
members of Goddess Gauri the mother of God Ganapati. This was a ritual during
Ganapati festival as part of family tradition. It is created with the help of four
terracotta vase filled with grain, rice etc. that depicts prosperity.

This is the example of Late Prof. R.P.Joshi’s Jacquard (jacquard
ˈdʒakɑːd,ˈdʒakəd / noun…an apparatus with perforated cards, fitted to a loom to facilitate the
weaving of figured and brocaded fabrics a fabric made on a loom fitted with a jacquard, with an
intricate variegated pattern. a loom fitted with a jacquard. noun: jacquard loom; plural noun: jacquard
looms ) weavings done for students as a sr.faculty of textile design and colour in
V.J.T.I. during 1950s, 60s. ( an oldest technical institute of India.) Here presenting it
for the reason along with Late Mrs. Indumati’s (wife of R.P.Joshi) traditional hand
knitting few examples available so as to see parallels in both work.

We can say about Late Mrs. Indumati R. Joshi (wife of Late R.P.Joshi)
"she had crocheted these table tops and curtains herself“ when looking at these
few examples. Crochet ˈkrəʊʃeɪ,ˈkrəʊʃi/ noun 1. a handicraft in which yarn is made up into
a textured fabric by means of a hooked needle. "a crochet hook“ verb 1. make (a garment or
piece of fabric) using crochet.

My elder brother Prakash R. Joshi fine artist/ art
educationist and textile designer, this is his work in a
nutshell. Form, Pattern and shape all in context to
colour and its appearance.
My younger brother C.R. Joshi who
has captured my face in just 15
minutes in this clay sculpture. He is
the post diploma in portraiture from
M.S. University ‐ Baroda and student
once assistant to famous sculptor
Late Sonavdekar.
