Please allow me to introduce Fendi Sukuraga. He is a Dalang (master of traditional puppet) who create a Wayang Sukuraga. I met him at the end of 2016, and I am so impressed with his creator about Wayang Sukuraga. Wayang Sukuraga has a very deep philosophical meaning. Suku is part or member. Raga is body or bodies. Sukuraga are members of the human body. When our finger is injured, we can see the greatest of God is driving all of our body’s system to recognize those pain. How Sukuraga works to help finger. How our eyes will instantly look at the finger, how our mouth will instantly blow the finger to reduce the pain, how our brain instruct us to bring the medicine immediately, how our feet collaborate with hand and eyes to find out where is the medicine, go there, take them and put it into the finger. It is really perfect collaboration from our Sukuraga. Since first meeting with Fendi, I declare myself to be a volunteer for Wayang Sukuraga. I really want to spread this message, that our Sukuraga is the best way how to learn about empathy, coordination, leadership, and the purpose of life. I wish everyone who read this also can spread this message.

ABOUT WAYANG SUKURAGA
Wayang Sukuraga (Traditional Puppet Show) whose
puppet characters such as the mouth, ears, eyes, feet is a
performance art that was born from an Fendi's thought
and hand, to the accompaniment of musical collabora-
tions of ethic and modern music.
Sukuraga is come from development process of creating
the paintings that Fendi's created from the period 1987 -
1990, the theme and tittle of 'strides.'
From this painting I have already visible signs
characterization of limbs, such as eyes, foot and mouth has
been limited by the frame that has been apart. This painting
is as embryo of sukuraga puppet form.'

Effendi was complete to excavate of the element
limbs since 1987 from the art of painting into a
Wayang Sukuraga featuring fine art, music, puppet
theater and art crafts. Nine years of the time required
by Effendi to develop his art to be a Wayang Sukuraga,
from 1987 to 1996.

3. SUKURAGA'S GOALS :
Produce a dynamic and exciting production that will serve to both entertain and educate
people in terms of building a leadership characters.
To develop a sustainable practice of teamwork and self-discipline through theater practice,
thereby enhancing self confidence and improving communication skills.
The expansion of participants' creative and practical horizons resulting in a greater sense of
personal purpose and community responsibility.
The opportunity for local craftsmen to earn a living from the creative production in order to
support the government program regarding the economic creative industry.
To promote an original traditional puppet of Wayang Sukuraga in media international.
Increase awareness of the wealth of Indonesian culture, especially in Indonesia's genuine art
culture.
Strengthen relationship among Indonesian citizen in abroad as well as the relationship
between Indonesia and other countries through the culture of Wayang Sukuraga.

5. MEET THE ARTIST
Effendi | Sukabumi - Indonesia
Effendi is known as
Fendi Sukuraga
Effendi, currently known as Fendi Sukuraga, an eccentric dalang or
puppet master from Sukabumi, Indonesia passionately performed
the unique Wayang Sukuraga show. Taking shape of human
sensing organs, it symbolized the dynamic of life as if it were
viewed from sights, smells, sounds, and other senses.
Fendi began to love painting since childhood, as well as the art of
music since the age of 4. He asked bonggo and bought a guitar by
his mother.
As a teenager he lived in Semarang, every Saturday night he and
his friend sometimes alone playing guitar long way until the city of
Jogja. Get in Jogja, he sometimes sleep in a doorway. As he likes
painting, in Jogja he always
stopped by at Affandi's
gallery and since that, Fendi
knew known with the master
painter Affandi and mamih
Maryati (Affandi's wife).
If Fendi want to go home, he
have always given a book or
catalog of painting by mamih
Maryati. Since that, Fendi fi-
nally decided to have school
of art in Jogja.
'If you want to go to the gallery,
you have to go in the morning, in
addition to be able to meet
Affandi and have some breakfast
of warm rice.'
said Affandi's wife.

6. In the year of 1980 he told to Affandi that he wanted to go to SSRI
(School of Art Indonesia), then he was given a letter of introduction
by Affandi and says “…you’ll still take a test first in SSRI but if
you have not received an SSRI, you will meet and live with my
friend Bagong….” in the year 1980 Fendi entered Indonesia School
of Fine Arts in Yogyakarta, 1982 Fendi had a desire to move the
school in Bali, because Bali also have an Indonesia School of
Fine Arts (SSRI), Fendi then write another letter to miss Made
Kajeng the Director of SSRI Bali. Fendi finally get accepted in
SSRI Bali.
Fendi finally get accepted in SSRI Bali. Every Affandi go to Bali to
have painting, Fendi like to meet him to have some advices.
Nowadays, even Fendi live in
Sukabumi, he always go to
Yogyakarta for self develop-
ing creations who have an
artistic element such as :
music, theater, multimedia
and technology. Technically,
Fendi have those element in
his self since he have school
in Yogyakarta. No wonder he
have a lot of music instru-
ment in his gallery.

Fendi really love with music, since in Bali he joined some several
Band until he almost get out from his School. In his School, the costs
are very high then he continue his School back away to Yogyakarta.
1986 he graduated from the School of Fine Art Yogyakarta.
