2. 3
From the respondents there was a range of reviews both
positive and constructive about the magazine front cover. Most
of the positive feedback praised the outer glow convention,
the inclusion of other soap operas at the bottom of the page
and that the magazine is very appealing to the eye, being able
to attract passing buyers. This is very positive as this is the
main aim of the magazine. Constructive criticism included
making the tagline more effective by including more
information, my placing of features especially the soap opera
logos on the established soap operas and the blue gradient not
being appealing to the eye. I can focus on these areas for the
next magazine front cover I produce.
3. 4
Reviews of the poster were generally more positive and
reviewers have commented that it looks very professional ,
looking like an established poster. Other reviews have been
positive for the critical praise, that is it great quality and that
the lowered opacity fire in the background is very effective.
Constructive criticism is that the poster is not food orientated
like the other 2 tasks which I can sue to make sure that next
time I make sure all task match in with one another also, that
the pictures are not all the same time, I will use this to make
sure I correct this for the future.
4. 5
85.71% of the respondents have reported
that the ancillary products appeal to the
female audience, which is very positive as I
was trying to relate to Rebecca Feassey’s
theory (2007) that ‘soap operas appeal to
the strong dominant female.’ I will try and
make sure I identify why the small 14.29%
have answered no so that I can make
implementations to any future products
produced.
5. 6
Most answers to this question have answered that having the
other established soaps on the ancillary task has made Walton-
Hill more appealing which is very positive as this was the
intention. Some have answered no and I will try and alter the
content featured to change this view. Respondents have
reported that it will hopefully make Walton-Hill just as good as
the other established soaps which was intended.
6. 7
90.48% of people stated that critical praise
does improve the reputation of Walton-Hill
which is very positive and does support my
decision to include this. In the future I will
makes sure I include this for sure. 9.52% have
reported that it does not improve the
reputation however, this figure is much
smaller as apposed to those who do.
7. 8
This again is very positive because ‘What’s on TV’ was my
magazine of inspiration for this ancillary task. The majority of
answers at 63.16% have stated that ’Soap Weekly’ does look
like this magazine which is great to understand consumer
identification methods of different magazines. I wanted my
conventions to replicate ‘What’s on TV’ which is how my
audience have perceived it.
