Rationale:
The success of any relationship relies on the ability to communicate well. Communication is important in
all relationships as it allows us to share our interests, concerns, and support of each other. It helps us to organize
our lives and make decisions; and it allows us to work together.
Effective communication skills are fundamental to success in many aspects of life. Many jobs require
strong communication skills including our profession and socially people with improved communication skills
usually enjoy better interpersonal relationships with friends and family.
Interpersonal relationships exist between any two or more persons who interact and fulfill one or more
physical or emotional needs. According to a 2010 article in Time magazine, challenges in life may feel less
daunting to people with close interpersonal relationships. The magazine notes that close emotional connections
and relationships may provide a sense of safety and security that reduces stress and promotes good health.
Next school year, you will be third year college and some of you may encounter the three primary
methods of social work profession, the casework, the group work and the C.O.
These three demands skills, specifically good communication skills that can be used in dealing with your
client. Client here is not just a single person or individual it can be a group of people in an organization or a group
of people living in a community.
So, it is with these thought that this training is conceptualized.
Objectives:
After this seminar-workshop, the participant will be able to:
1. Understand the importance of effective communication in interpersonal relationship.
2. Improve your communication skills.
3. Identify the different communication styles; and
4. Be aware what communication style to be used.
5. Use communication skills in helping other people.
6. Learn the benefits of effective communication.
