Exhibit Yorktown's Sunken Fleet features the Betsy, a
ship sunk during the 1781 Siege of Yorktown.
The Betsy, a British troop transport, was the
subject of an underwater archaeological
excavation in the 1980s. Among objects
exhibited courtesy of the Virginia Department
of Historic Resources are regimental buttons
that led to the identity of the ship. Items
ranging from barrel parts to dining utensils
provide insight into daily life and work on
board a ship during the Revolution.
