This document provides the order of service for a church gathering on the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost. It discusses the readings from Matthew about Jesus' healing ministry and his instructions to his disciples to go out and preach the good news. The key messages are that the harvest is plentiful but laborers are few, so Christians should pray to God to send more workers. Jesus showed compassion for those in need and Christians should do the same. Two hymns ask God to release his power and glory upon the gathered believers.
6. 9:35 Then Jesus went about all
the cities and villages, teaching
in their synagogues, and
proclaiming the good news of
the kingdom, and curing every
disease and every sickness.
9:36 When he saw the crowds,
he had compassion for them,
because they were harassed
and helpless, like sheep
without a shepherd.
9:37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
9:38 therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
7. What is the message for TODAY?
Jesus starts by being an example
He shows what to do…
He highlights the needs…
He loves those in need…
The people need the Lord…
The sent are too few
Pray to the Father…. Ask Him for the workers
8. 10:1 Then Jesus summoned his
twelve disciples and gave them
authority over unclean spirits,
to cast them out, and to cure
every disease and every
sickness.
10:2 These are the names of the
twelve apostles: first, Simon,
also known as Peter, and his
brother Andrew; James son of
Zebedee, and his brother John;
10:3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus,
and Thaddaeus;
10:4 Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him.
9. What is the message for TODAY?
Are we praying? Are we responding?
Workers are needed, the right kind
Those called by God and those who follow Him
Not for us to judge, but for us to pray and respond
What does this mean to us today?
10. 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent out with
the following instructions: "Go nowhere
among the Gentiles, and enter no town
of the Samaritans,
10:6 but go rather to the lost sheep of
the house of Israel.
10:7 As you go, proclaim the good news,
'The kingdom of heaven has come near.'
10:8 Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You
received without payment; give without
payment.
11. What is the message for TODAY?
Specific instructions to follow
The apostles were told where to go
They were shown what to do
Sharing the good news and helping the people
What does this mean to us today?
12.
13. As children, what we desire most:
We yearn for Attention and Acceptance;
(or else insecure)
We long for Affection;
(or else incomplete)
We strive for Approval
(or else unsatisfied)
14.
15. Verse 1
Father of creation
Unfold your sovereign plan
Raise up a chosen generation
That will march through the land
All of creation is longing
For Your unveiling of power
Would You release Your anointing
Oh God let this be the hour
16. Chorus
Let Your glory fall in this room
Let it go forth from here to the nations
Let Your fragrance rest in this place
As we gather to seek Your face
17. Verse 2
Ruler of the nations the world has yet to see
The full release of your promise
The Church in victory
Turn to us Lord and touch us
Make us strong in Your might
Overcome our weakness
That we could stand up and fight
18. Chorus
Let Your glory fall in this room
Let it go forth from here to the nations
Let Your fragrance rest in this place
As we gather to seek Your face
