The fifth guru of the Sikhs, Guru Arjan Dev, was the first of the two Gurus martyred in the Sikh faith. Born in 1563, he completed the construction of the Golden Temple in Amritsar and also compiled the Adi Granth, the religious scripture of the Sikhs encompassing spiritual poetry and musical ragas.

Later he studied in Arya School Lahore, completed his matric in Mission High School Gujranwala and attended Lahore College.
He scored a gold medal in M.A. in 1900 and then cleared LLB in 1901 and started his law practice but could not work for more than 7 days, since he could not accept himself resorting to fabricated lies to win cases. In the in the interim, he got an offer of Headmastership of an Anglo Sanskrit School. He labored for one year in the school. At that
point he tested the civil services exam in the Salt division. In 1902, he was appointed as the Assistant Superintendent at Sanbhar Lake.
He was clear only about one thing that he would serve the commoners for the rest of his life. As a Salt officer three thoughts bothered him too much: “that the salt which for miles has come out of the ground, only needy ones make it for their use. My duty was to catch them and imprison them. It came into my mind that the nature had given a free gift to the poor and being instrumental for their arrest just for earning wages became a repulsive idea.” “One day I thought that it was better to educate the poor than to brag about my status as a Salt officer.”
He decided to quit the job because it was not his way to lord over poor and helpless people.
Based on his academic achievements, He became vice-principal of Khalsa College in 1904 and later its Principal, at the unprecedented young age of 27 years and the first Sikh to do so, since this benchmark was only met by British Teachers prior to this.

the lower strata of society were attracted towards Guru Gobind.
• He at the age of 33 years created Khalsa (The pure one) in 1699 on the Baisaki
day of 1699. Guru Gobind himself took Amrit from Panj Piara’s .
• He made innumerable personal sacrifices by Sacrificing his father Guru Tegh
Bahadar Ji, his four young son’s and mother Mata Gujri Ji besides thousands of
his loved ones. Here I will cover all the major incidents from his life. He finally
bestowed Guruship to Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Sept 1708

Guru Nanak Sahib, believed as founder of the Sikhism, was actually a convert from
Hinduism. He was a religious scholar and the master of four languages, Sanskrit, Gurmukhi
(he invented), Arabic and Persian and four holy books, Psalms, Tora, Bible and Quran. He
carried the Holy Quran with him all the time and recited regularly. He understood that
simple and illiterate people of the Punjab villages could not understand the Holy Quran. So,
being a poet and singer, he reproduced and explained the Quranic verses, ideology and
prayers in his self styled Punjabi poems (Gurmukhi Bani), e.g Jap Ji Sahib. His Mission was
to spread the name of Allah/Rab/God---the Creator and Sustainer of the universes and to
recite His Holy names all the time to become His friend. Most of the Muslims believe Guru
Nanak Sahib as a Muslim Faquir (Saint) like Kabir Sahib, Mian Mir Sahib, Bhuley Shah
Sahib, Sain Baba and Sir Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Sahib. He also wrote Bani about Prophet
Muhammad PBUH and Muslim Holy Book Quran.
All religions of the world passed through the process of evolution with passage of
time and so was the Sikhism. The religion changed from the second Guru Angat Dev Sahib
(Bhai Lehna) through the tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji. They changed from saints to saint
soldiers---the Khalsas. Actually it was not Guru Nanak Sahib but Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the
real founder of Sikhism. The tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji discontinued the chain of human
gurus, completed compilation of the Guru Granth Sahib as the eleventh and last Guru and
performed the ‘matha taking’ (Sajjda). From that time the Sikhs started ‘matha taking’ to the
Holy Book, Guru Granth Sahib.
Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj appeared in a small village called Mangarh, near Allahabad, in India, on the auspicious night of Sharat Purnima in October 1922. His mother, Bhagvati Devi, and father, Lalita Prasad, named Him Ram Kripalu at birth.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. 2. Guru Arjan Dev Ji ( 15 April 1563 – 30 May
1606) was the first of the two Gurus
martyred in the Sikh faith and the fifth of
the ten total Sikh Gurus. He compiled the
first official edition of the Sikh scripture
called the Adi Granth, which later
expanded into the Guru Granth Sahib. He
was born in Goindval , Punjab, the
youngest son of Guru Ram Das ji and Mata
Bhani ji. He became Guru on 16
September, 1581, following the footsteps
of Guru Ram Das Ji.
3. Guru Arjan Dev Ji was the youngest of
the three sons of Guru Ram Das Ji. His
elder brother Baba Prithi Chand was
very astute in social and worldy
affairs. Baba Prithi Chand ( 1558–April
1618). He wanted to inherit the Sikh
Guruship from his father, who instead
favored and appointed his youngest
son the 18-year old Arjan Dev Ji as
the next Guru. Baba Mahadev (1560-
1605) was the second oldest of Guru
Ram Das ji’s son. He was elder than
brother Guru Arjan Dev Ji. As he grew
up, he displayed little interest in
worldly affairs and remained occupied
in meditation.
4. Guru Arjan Dev was one of the ten
Sikh Gurus who pioneered Sikhism.
Out of all of them, he contributed
the most to the religion. He
constructed the Golden Temple in
Amritsar and compiled spiritual
poetry and musical ragas in the Adi
Granth, which was installed in
Harmandir Sahib. Sahib. The
prophets also mandated the Sikhs
to donate 10% of their earnings to
charity.
5. Guru Arjan dev ji updated the
scriptures of the Sikhs and prepared
the Kartarpur Pothi, the volume upon
which the canonical Adi Granth, or
Guru Granth Sahib (“The Granth as
the Guru”), the sacred scripture of the
Sikhs, is based. He was also a prolific
poet who created hymns of great
lyrical .Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib
is a gurdwara established by the fifth
guru, Guru Arjan Dev, in the city of
Tarn Taran Sahib, Punjab, India. The
site has the distinction of having the
largest sarovar (water pond) of all the
gurdwaras.
6. Guru Arjan Dev Ji was a great
thinker, illustrious poet, a practical
philosopher and a celebrated saint.
The greatest contribution he made
to the Sikh faith was to compile all
of the past Gurus' writings into one
book, now the holy scripture: the
Guru Granth Sahib.. Additionally
Guru Ji contributed a total of 2218
hymns to the Sri Guru Granth
Sahib. He is the Author of the
Sukhmani Sahib Bani – Prayer for
Peace.
7. Guru Arjan Dev Ji did not believe in caste.
Caste, is you know, is an idea that some
people are good because they are born in high
families, and some are bad because they are
born in low families. The Guru hated this idea
very much. He said, "When all are born of the
same light, how can some be good and others
bad?"Guru Arjan taught people not to call any
man "God." He said "God is never born and
that is His greatness. If He were born like us,
then He would be no better than we are." He
regarded all religious men as the servants of
God. He called himself an ordinary man, the
slave of God.
8. Guru Arjan Dev Ji was arrested
under the orders of the Mughal
Emperor Jahangir and asked to
convert to Islam. He refused and
was made to sit on burning hot
sheet/plate and hot sand was
poured on him. After 5 days of
torture, he was taken for bath in
the river. He entered the river
but was never seen again .
