- 1. How to Create a New Email Account
- 2. Click on Google Chrome on your desktop
- 3. Type Gmail in the search bar and click “Enter”

- Hi Very good day to all of you. So without further a do, I'm going to guide you guys in how to create an email. Before we proceed, do you guys know who is Ray Tomlinson? Any idea? Ray Tomlinson was an American computer program who create the email program in 1971. During this time email was invented particularly targeted at those who cant be relied on to answer their phone. Electronic mail is a computer-based application for the exchange of messages between users. Email initially seen as a speedy way for people to communicate with each other compared to letter and ect. Does anyone know what are the important of email? Email is important for communication because it allows user to send information in letter format and at the same time can replace the traditional mail options. Email can be more beneficial for communication because they can often include text, document and multimedia like photos and videos.
- There are lots of Email provider that we can choose nowadays. For example we have Gmail, outlook, Yahoo! Mail and ect. Today im gonna choose Gmail as an example and I will guide you from the beginning on how to create an email from Gmail. From the desktop, kindly proceed to choose any internet browser that you have from your own desktop. Example of internet browser will be as in the slide you may see im choosing Google chrome as my internet browser. A few example of internet browser that you may see except for google chrome will be Microsoft edge, safari, mozilla firefox, and ect. If you can’t find any browser from the desktop, I will suggest you click on the start button, you may see search button will appear next to it. Kindly type in the name of the browser you want to find. As an example, here, I will click on the google chrome from my desktop.
- After click on the google chrome, you will see this landing page. This page is known as a search engine for google, is a web-based tool tat enables users to locate information on the WORLD WIDE WEB (efers to all the public websites or pages that users can access on their local computers and other devices through the internet. ). From here you may type whatever email provider that you want to choose. As I will choose gmail as an example today, I will write gmail and click enter.
- You will be bring to this page after you type in Gmail in the search engine. Kindly click on the first link “Gmail: private and secure email at no cost” on top of the list from the browser. If you cannot see this link on top of the page, don’t worry you may scroll down a bit and I believe you will see this link in the page. It happen because , the browser will remember that you ever visited this gmail link or you currently log in into your gmail account now. If you want to reset this browser or delete your browsing history, you may click on three dots symbol on top right of your browser – choose setting – privacy and security – clear browsing data. From there you may choose the time range and what are the details that you want to remove.
- From this slide, you able to see create an account button in blue tab. There are two of it. Doesn’t matter which one that you will choose since both button work the same. Before you click on this button, you may take your time to read on the information that you might interested by scrolling down to the bottom of the page. Information that you might seeing its all about why you have to choose Gmail email and what are the advantage of choosing a Gmail email. Secure & private since google never use your gmail for any ads purposes, Gmail come with a package; meaning, once you have an gmail account, you will get a free cloud storage, own calendar and google meet for video and voice conferencing, google docs and ect. Once you read and understand all the information, Kindly click on create an account.
- To continue to create your Gmail email, certain information is required for you to fill up . your first name and last name, username and password. And if you want to change the language, you may click on the language dropdown at the bottom left of the page.
- As an example, I chose Bahasa melayu as the language for this page.
- As a Malaysian in a general, or Malay in a very specific race, we usually not expose to the use of last name and first name. Because of that, to avoid confusion, I provide you with this information based on certain races that we as Malaysian know. As example if your name ;…………..
- To get more details on the Gmail email or google account, you may click on Help, where you can find a lot of popular articles related to google account such as how to create account, how to verify the account, what if someone changed your password or in a fast track, you may type your concern and click search on top of help page. To read on the privacy or security that google can offer to you, you may click on the privacy.
- In this page you may read on the privacy policy and the terms of service for having a google account. To read on the terms of service and privacy policy sometime can be tiring and boring, but, over here instead of reading, you will be able to watch the videos. And for me its quite entertaining.
- Once you fill up your first name and your last name. You need to create your own username. Username in other words is your email address. I personally advice to choose the correct username depending on your purpose of creating an email. For example, if you create email for looking for a job, I will suggest to choose the username which is look more professional. I give you one bad example, if you are sending a resume and your email address is johnheadhunters@gmail.com, what do you think the recruiter will think about you. It doesn’t reflect a good image of you and it will lead you for not having the job that you apply for. As an example, here, if you can see the username that you choose is already taken, google will suggest you with the alternative username which is still available. But don’t worries, you still can choose your own username as long as it is still available.
- In this case, I choose Johnsamson1986@gmail.com, as my name is john samson and I was born in 1986. Choosing your passwords also can be one of the most important step in creating your email. The combination of alphabets, numbers and symbols can be a good example of the passwords. I will not suggest you to use your name as a passwords for security purposes. Once you create you’re your own password you may click on Next.
- You may enter your phone number and recovery email as requested in this page. By doing this, it will help you to recover back your password if you accidently forget your password. I will explain in further why this is important. I mean the phone number and recovery email and how it will help you. But both details is just an optional for you. You still can proceed without entering both information. Kindly choose your birthday date and your gender. And if you want to know why google ask for this information you may click on the blue link. Name : if you sharing content with other, your name will show up Password: help to keep your account safe Birthday : some google service have age requirements. Google ads : 18, youtube age-restricted :18 Gender : make google services more personal, it will tailored content according to the gender. People who can see your gender will see text like “Send him a message” “Send them a message”

- You need to verify the phone number that you fill up. Google will trigger a SMS to your phone with unique code and you need to fill up on the space given to you.
- For example, if you decided not to share your phone number or your recovery email, that is fine since it just an optional for you, you may directly click on Next button. From here you will bring to privacy and terms again. You can see that google really stressing on the privacy and terms and want you to read at least one in order for you to understand. Basically, if you already read the privacy and terms from the previous slide, you may scroll down until you see I agree button.
- When you click on I agree button meaning that you already agreed with all the terms and condition from google. But if you click on more option it will bring you to few setting for your google account.
- The first setting is about Web and app activity where you can save your web & app activity of your google account. This setting actually introduce by google where it can help you to remember your browser history and can provide you with better search result. For example, I always use google map to check on the traffic condition every time I finish my work. This setting actually helps me, how? Everyday at 5.15pm google map will inform me about the traffic condition and let me know how minutes I need in order for me to arrive at my home. But if you don’t like this setting you may choose don’t save my web & app activity in my google account. Second setting is about the ads, if you select this setting google will personalize the ads according or based on your activity on google services. Like say you search on the hotel in KL by using google chrome, It will remember your search history and you might seeing the hotel ads in the webpage or in the YouTube ads as well.
- The last setting is about the YouTube History, when you search something on the YouTube, google will save it and this will enable googles to give recommendation on the similar videos, remember where you left off and you able to find the last video you watch from the history function. You may click don’t save my YouTube if you don’t want this setting for your google account. Please remember, all this setting only apply if you signed in to your google account. Once you read and choose all the setting, you may click on the I agree button.
- Here you go!! You have successfully created a Gmail account for your personal email. My question now, what you can do with Gmail email? 1. Create and send email.
- In the event that you accidently can’t remember your password, you may click on the forgot password link. Still remember about the recovery email and the phone number?? If you did not provide any of these two, google unable to retrieve your password.
- You will see this error.
- But, if you provide your alternative email as your recovery email, google will send you an email that comes with the verification code for you to get back your account.
- You will receive email with this unique number like this. As an example the number here is 824387, you need to fill up this num in the box provided to you like I show in the previous slide.
- Once you enter the number, taddaa your account recovered successfully.
- If you don’t even have another email as you can use as your recovery email, you may choose to put your mobile num. The step is similar with the email, but for mobile number, google will send a verification number code to your mobile num.
- You will receive one combination of number through your sms.
- Kindly enter the code in the box provided..and click next
- Taddaaa your account recovered successfully.
