2. BFI – British Film Institution
The BFI is a lottery funded company founded in 1933 who give
financial aid to film production, distribution, education, audience
research and general audience development.
Pros
Cons
The BFI are extremely
experienced in film distributions
therefore the company have
many links to different forms of
distribution. Such as their direct
link with different cinemas/film
festivals/show in educational
facilities.
The BFI handle a lot of films as
they are quite a reliable source.
Our film could almost get lost
among the others and go
unnoticed.
They are extremely well known
which could mean more
publicity for the film.
Their focus is cinema/festival
showings and releases but not
DVD release so we would lose
a lot of money in the post
release sales.

3. Cinema 16

short films from around the world. They focus on the release of these
short films onto DVD.

Ridley Scott (Alien/Prometheus) Tim Burton (Batman/Big Fish) and
Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth/Mama).

Pros
Cons
They focus plainly on short films of
every genre which could be very
beneficial to us as we would then
have more of a chance of this
company distributing our film.
They only focus on DVD releases of
short films which can lose us a lot of
money if we chose them to release
our film as we would lose a lot of
money that we could have made on
a cinematic release.
Because they have worked with so
many prolific directors, the company
may have already gained trust from
the audience which means that the
audience would be willing to release
a lot of the smaller films that they
produce, like ours.
Or it could go the complete opposite
way and the audience may only
want to see short films that have
been made by these bigger
directors, losing us money.
4. Left LTD
Left LTD are a film distribution company that work with UK
based film makers.
They have the ability to work a film towards cinema, DVD
release and even online downloads.
They also work with makers to target audience approach and
social marketing.
www.leftfilms.com
Pros
Cons
They have the ability to distribute
our film in every format possible
which could bring the film more
popularity and more money.
The previous films that they have
distributed seemed to be almost
parodies of films, such as comedy
horror and our film might not be
taken seriously.
The fact that they also have the
extra feature of download which is
relevant for modern technology and
would also interest an audience
further.
Looking into their other films there is
none in the psychological thriller
genre which may benefit us
because the film will be different
already and stand out from the
others in the audience that already
enjoy films distributed from Left LTD
or they may be comfortable with the
genres that they already produce.
