3. The role of a production company
• A production company helps create a film and
assists in budgeting, scheduling, scripting,
casting and more.
• They are also responsible for finding actors to
be a part of your film and to find a director.
• All responsibilities lie solely on the production
company, for example an actor getting injured.

4. The role of the distributor
• The distributors duty is to promote the
completed film to the audience in various ways.
• They must determine how many copies of film to
make and then preview it to buyers, such as
cinema owners.
• Distribution is a key element within the film
making process as distributors can either make or
break a film by the way they have chosen to
promote it.

5. Well Know Film Distributors
20th Century Fox is a well known,
American film distributor. It is also
one of the six major American film
studios. For this reason, it would
be highly unlikely for them to
distribute our production as they
distribute high budget films in the
US, such as Avatar and our
production is a low budgeted UK
production..
Paramount is ranked as one of
the big six and is a
conglomerate of Viacom. This
suggests that Paramount only
distribute high budget films
based in the US, such as Iron
man. Due to this reason,
Paramount would be an
unsuitable distributor for our
production.
Although Entertainment One
distribute films in countries
such as Canada, they also
distribute films in the UK,
however, they tend to
distribute high budget films
such as The Hunger Games.
This means they would be
unsuitable to distribute our
production.

6. Which film companies would
distribute my production?
I believe Film 4 would be a suitable distributor of our production because it
is a British film company that supports low budget films. Also, they are
known for making many low budget, independent films successful.
This is a suitable distributor for our production considering that our
production is a low budget, British film and will most likely be exhibited to a
niche audience.

7. Which film companies would
distribute my production?
Working Title is a British film company owned by Universal Studios. Due to
this film company being owned by Universal Studios, it means that our film
will have financial support, this means that our film can be better marketed
to audiences which can result in our production being more successful than
what it would be if distributed by another company.
