Introduction
I know you might think that water is no
big deal, but you would be surprised.
There is only 1% of water, fresh drinking
water and over 97% of the earth is made
up of water.
There are 4 steps to the life cycle
Step1. The sun evaporates the sea water
Step2. It makes clouds
Step3. It rains and goes down the hills
Step4. Its back in the sea

Salinity
Did you know, that seawater has a salinity
of between 3.1% and around 3.8%, also
sea water is not uniformly saline
throughout the world!
The most saline open sea is the Red
Sea(that’s in the Indian sea between
Africa and Asia)where the high rates of
evaporation low precipitation and river
inflow. The density of the surfaced sea
water ranges from around 1020 to about
1029 kg/m3.
Deep under the ocean, high pressure sea
water could reach a density of 1,050
kg/m3 or possibly higher.

Rain water tanks may
be lifeline
Did you know that broken pipes can be
more deadly in Wellington because of
earthquakes and fault lines causing pipes
in buildings to crack.
And did you know that, the average
amount of water is 20L per day and the
minimum is 6L
This, and can run for weeks or months
before the emergency supplies will be
restored.
Reporter author Jim Cousin said “100,000
people estimated up to 20 days without
access to water if a 7.5% earthquake hit
the Wellington fault line”.

Drag Fishing
Did you know that, drag nets can be
more than 50 football fields? That’s
about 1000+boats size, and just
imagine how many fish get trapped in
there, that’s hundreds of fish all
cramped together in one net.
These horrible nets are destroying
fish’s habitat, because the nets drag
along the bottom. This removes up to
25% of the bottom of the sea each
time these nets go down.
These nets are also making our
beautiful marine life to become extinct,
and already 70% of the worlds fish
species are already Gone!!

much as heat as our entire atmosphere
*And did you know that the oceans
provide 99% of the earth living space-
*The largest space in our entire
universe, known to be inhabited by
living organisms.

My action plan
I have thought about my action plan
very wisely. I have decided to
concentrate on drag fishing, because
this is horrible and wasteful, what
these fishermen are doing to the food
chain and to other marine animals.
Because we are making our fishes
becoming EXTINCT! I have thought the
following;
*put posters up all around the
Wellington region
* do a TV commercial about this
*contact the government about what’s
happening
*do a video explaining my points and
facts and sending it to TV people/TV3

Conclusion
In conclusion I have told you how much
water there is, and how much we are
wasting it. It is more valuable than
gold. I know it might not seem it, but it
is. If this looks bad to you, you can
help. I have also stated how much
salinity is in oceans and loads of facts
about it too.
Just remember
* turn off the taps when you brush
your teeth
*mulch your gardens
*put a trigger nozzle on your hose
*sweep your path instead of watering
it
