• What does the King want?
• What does Parliament want?
In 1642 the King had played enough tug-of-war and
attempted to invade Parliament. He wasn’t successful and
headed north to Nottingham where he raised his standard
and began a 7 year war.
WHAT IS GOING ON?
4. aka Cavaliers
• Supported King Charles I
• Often upper class or upper-
middle class people like nobles
• Had experienced military
commanders and soldiers
• Supporters of Anglican Church
aka Roundheads
• Supported Parliament
• Often lower or lower middle-class
people like farmers and
townspeople
• Had little military experience,
organized militias which were
groups of ordinary people
brought together to fight.

THE SIDES
5. • You will be divided into 4 groups. I will hand out a piece of paper and
you need something to write with.
• There are 4 marked stations in the class. The number you get is the station
that you start at. Read the instructions, talk with your group and
answer the questions. Record your answer on your own piece of paper.
• You will rotate through all the stations. I will let you know when it’s time
to move on. Make sure you bring your paper with you to each one.
• At the end we will come back together as a class.
