What Is An Ideal Teacher Essay
The word 'Ideal' according to dictionary means, "Something which is perfect" or "Model of
excellence". So in the words of Confucius, "The ideal teacher guides his students but does not pull
them along. He urges them to go forward and does not suppress them. He opens the way but does
not take them to the place". The teachers as we cognize are plentiful but "Ideal Teachers" are rare
of the rarest. Everybody can be a teacher but an Ideal teacher is "One in a Million". An Ideal
teacher can make a lot of great students. It is an acknowledged fact that an Ideal education cannot be
imparted in absence of an Ideal teacher. Ideal teachers are therefore, the dire need of every society.
In fact, Ideal teachers are the backbone of any progressive scheme of national education. An Ideal
teacher is one we respect from our heart. He acts, as a guide to the students, but at the same times
does not pushes them too much. A perfect teacher motivates the students and boosts their morale. He
tries to encourage the students and refrains from criticizing them. Such a teacher prefers to give

In fact, it is a complex process. It is not only concerned with success in short–term, but also with
appropriate values and success of long term achievement. Effective teachers need to have good
professional and personal skills. Content knowledge, together with good planning, clear goals and
communication, good classroom management and organization, and consistently high and realistic
expectations with the students are essential factors to be effective teachers. Besides, they need to
feel responsible for the students learning process, regardless the students' aptitude to learn. The
teachers, as well as having effective personal and professional skills especially for organizing class
and developing students personalities and serve as example f lifelong learners, and are investors of

Professional Skills As A Teacher
Being an educator is one of the most challenging professions in the world due to its constantly
changing clientele and practices. To be a successful teacher in this field one must be committed to
lifelong learning. Learning in the field of education comes from colleagues, students, reflection on
one's practices and the advice and observation of other's in the profession (Garmston, 1998 ). One
valuable tool that teacher's have to rely on are the numerous professional organizations catered to the
field of education. Teachers who wish to improve usually join organizations that will educate them
on the newest and most effective practices in their field. In this paper, I will discuss the
educational organizations that I have joined and believe will enrich my professional skills as a
teacher. Educators have a number of responsibilities that they are held accountable for. They are
required a master in several different areas. Charlotte Danielson (1996) author of "Enhancing
Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching" discusses what responsible teachers must do to
improve student learning. She believes that there are 4 domains in which teachers must function.
After reviewing Danielson's domains, I have identified my strength in Domain One. This domain
focuses on planning and preparation. I find this domain to be my strength because of my ability to
organize my class period to maximize learning. On several occasions, I have been praised by my
administration staff for

A Good Teacher Essay
Who is a teacher and what makes a good teacher? By definition, a teacher is a person who teaches,
especially in school, but can anyone be a teacher? That is a matter of the possession of
qualification and the overall talent utilized whilst on the workforce. Having such qualification
simply doesn't create a good teacher, though. Becoming a good teacher requires work, effort and
time that one must be willing to sacrifice from their daily lives. A good teacher must be able to
teach the students clearly. He/she must be well prepared, whether it is regarding the lesson of the
day or any sudden questions the pupil may ask. A good teacher should have confidence with
themselves and be organized at all times. A good teacher respects his/her job and tries to be as
effective as possible.
But from being a good teacher, there is one higher form of teachers' ranking and that is being a
great and effective teacher. Being a good teacher is easy, but being a great teacher requires more
effort than what is usually expected and required. With being a great teacher, teaching is not a job,

With that knowledge only can a person be creative about it. A certain degree of knowledge is
essential for one person to be able to adapt it to any situation or use it as an output in the education

all intelligent people can be creative, but other researches have shown this to be fabricated.
Creativity is claimed to be the highest form of intelligence. So, should creativity be looked upon as if
opposed to intelligence? Creativity is one of the qualities of intelligence; same way as analytical
intelligence and practical intelligence. Although analytical and practical intelligence plays an
important role, without creativity, the task loses the touch of the creator, thus making it the same as

Socrates Ideal Teacher
What makes a good teacher? Well, according to teaching staff, "great teachers engage students and
get them to look at issues in a variety of ways." They say that asking students "why" questions can
bring about deeper thinking. One such teacher was a master at this idea, and his name was
Socrates. Socrates was an unwanted teacher in Greece from "469 BC to about 399 BC". I say
unwanted because of his sarcastic, and obnoxious ways of asking, and answering, questions. To his
students though, his lessons were priceless. He had a unique way of breaking down complex
concepts into simple examples to help his students, and foes, understand him. Many also thought of
Socrates as unbearable because of his habit to bring everything into question, and study. This method
did bring many important philosophers into the world despite its unappreciated effect at the time.
Using The Great Dialogues of Plato, and educated sources, it is easy to see that Socrates is an
intriguing teacher. Socrates's Socratic method to add to his unique teaching methods. Socrates is
known for his many questions that seem to have no answer that is simple, but he does this on
purpose to challenge his students. Studies from Stanford say that, "The Socratic method uses
questions to examine the values, principles, and beliefs of students." After gathering that
information, Socrates can then discern which approach to take to help his student understand. In
book one of Republic Socrates is engaged in a discussion with fellow townspeople, and the topic
is Justice. Socrates is curious, 'what is justice?', and, 'what makes something just?' "What is the
thing rendered by the art that we are to call justice?" (pg. 331) This question, asked by Socrates,
causes a pause among his listeners as they search for a logical answer that would appease him. The
conversations goes on and more questions are asked. Socrates eventually find no solid answer to his
questions, and is dissatisfied with the whole scenario. Although his questions are complex, they
intrigue students to listen, and respond to him in a way that modern students would be unable to.
Socrates breaks down his lesson into simple concepts in order to make his point understandable for
students. Just like a

A Day in the Life of a Teacher Essay
A Day in the Life of a Teacher I hear the sound of my alarm clock at 6:30am. Time to get up! I
wish it was Saturday, no school! No, I'm not a child, nor a student, but a teacher! You don't think
we enjoy everyday at work, do you? No. That's rubbish. Let me continue with my story of a day in
the life of a teacher.. As I force myself out of bed, a chilling thought comes over me. It's
Wednesday. This means I still have three whole days to get through until the weekend. Better get
a move on if I want to make it on time. First, I take a shower. I do this every morning to liven myself
up and to prepare for the day ahead of me. Today first up we have a whole school assembly. That's
one reason why I...show more content...
I make my way to class avoiding the students and setup and wait in the class until the bell goes at
half past 8. Outside the kids are eagerly waiting to be let inside, like a pack of puppies waiting for
you to open the door just so they can jump all over you with their muddy paws. What do they eat,
must be something like froot–loops. Which would explain not just the sugar rush but a for a few
others something else too. As soon as we are all in class, which doesn't take long, I give
announcements and ask the class to take their chairs to assembly. When we arrive I round up my
class, and once everyone is seated its time to go home. I wish! Though it is about 20minutes later.
At the beginning of every assembly we stand and sing the national anthem. Which doesn't sound
like an anthem at all. Instead of sounding like we are proud and free, it's sung in a droning tone.
When we sit down I shush all the chatters and the assembly begins. As a teacher it's our duty to
listen to what is happening around the school while also keeping a small eye, quite like a hawks,
on the class. We all usually sit back, act interested and see all the small things that go on. Like the
two kids who like each other keep pretending to 'look around the room' but are really trying to catch
a smile. Then there are the bad kids, who are trying to make peashooters and all the usual

Ideal Rockhurst Teacher
Every person encounters one at some point in his or her lifetime, and the opinions on them are
rarely indifferent. They all have their own unique style developed over years of practice and
experimentation, and they endure long hours and weak pay year after year. Their jobs are often
thankless, but they are critical to the success of the entire country. Without them, society as it is
known would break down. I am talking of course about teachers. While the concept of a teacher is
not particularly interesting, the idea of what constitutes the ideal Rockhurst teacher is. Although all
students' exact ideas of the ideal teacher vary, a clear outline exists which reflects what the ideal
Rockhurst teacher looks like. For one thing, the ideal Rockhurst...show more content...
This is important because such a teacher makes a student feel comfortable in the classroom, causing
students to be more open with their comments and questions. As Dylan Bassham adds, "It makes it
easier to communicate with them when they are personable." Students who interact more in class
are more engaged and excited about the material, making them more successful. For example, if a
teacher makes fun of a student for a dumb question, the student will not be likely to ask questions in
the future, hindering his academic development. This negative environment is toxic and not
conducive to learning, but an understanding and personable teacher combats that. Jake Voge recounts
that such teachers "make me feel more comfortable in the classroom, like he's talking to me, not at
me." Nurturing an understanding classroom environment is thus essential for the ideal Rockhurst
teacher. No perfect classroom would be complete without a bit of humor, and consequentially no
ideal teacher would be either. Humor is the perfect tool for engaging students in the subject matter
and it also serves to lighten the mood in a class. "Fun teachers make class more interesting" observes
Zach Telford. When students become more interested, they start to seeschool not as a chore or a task
but as an opportunity. Getting students excited about learning is one of the greatest challenges for a
teacher, and being fun

What makes a good teacher? Essay
In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because
only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard
for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to
classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy
lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or
even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have
the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage
them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content...
It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would
let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher.
"You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and
feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that
lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive
hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years
ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on.
I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about
what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I
had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be
able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less
insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new
school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails.
But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk.

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher Essay
Item One: Write a short essay reflecting on what characteristics make a good teacher, using your own
educational experiences. Without using names, identify the "best" and "worst" teacher that you have
had and support your choices with rationales.
What makes a good teacher? Ask this question to one hundred people and one would get one
hundred different answers. I have contemplated this question myself over the course of my twenty
years in education. The ideas that I have about the answer to this question are not the same ones
that I had twenty years ago. In my personal experience being a "good" teacher is something that I
always wanted. In recent years I have learned that teaching is not about being a "good" teacher but
about striving each day to be a "better" teacher than I was the day before.
A good teacher is one who knows her students and her students' needs. The students are the reason
that the teacher is there. Classrooms are filled with students from differing backgrounds and
families. As a teacher, one should know her students by talking with them, asking them questions,
learning their likes and dislikes and making them feel safe and comfortable in the classroom. The
classroom should be a safe haven for students where the teacher creates an atmosphere where
students feel comfortable in being themselves and expressing their opinions.
Another characteristic of a good teacher is one who knows her subject and is able to extend that
knowledge to her students. Every

My Ideal Teacher
When I think about teachers that I have had in the past, several different ones come to my mind.
Each of these educators stands out in my mind for a variety of diverse reasons. Whether it is their
sense of humor, their tactfulness, their love of the subject matter, their fanatical and sporadic
behavior, or their yearning to be childish themselves, I can still remember at least one quality of
every teacher I have ever encountered. Every one of these teachers conveyed subject material to
their students just as they were educated and employed to do. However, I trust that every
professional in the world has an abundance of opportunity for improvement; teachers could discover

I had a teacher in high school that began each class with a funny story or a random fact. We, as
students, looked forward to attending to his classes just to know what he had brought for us that
day. He was a stern teacher, but everyone appreciated him because he showed an interest in us
enjoying his classes.
An additional way that educators can make the class stimulating while maintaining student interest is
to include voice fluctuations and floor coverage in their lectures. We have all experienced those
teachers who never change their voice or their position on the floor during the course of an hour.
These monotone voices and stand still positions are almost hypnotizing; students get sluggish and
drop curiosity fast. My ideal teacher would use their voice to expand and carry on the students'
attention for the whole hour.
Using voice to emphasize an important point or even an incident that is being discussed can be very
valuable in creating excitement for the students. When a teacher moves about the room, one will
notice that the students will focus on the teacher and their eyes will follow. Simply moving their
eyes to follow the teacher's pattern of movements can be effective in keeping the student's attention.
A teacher could even reenact or act out using body actions for various topics. This would make the

A Teacher Who Influenced in My Life
"A teacher's greatest joy is seeing his/her students have success." These are the first words that came
out of the mouth of Mr. James Glennon on the first day of class. A man who can be considered
ancient, with his white hair and thick rectangular glasses stood in front of the classroom with a
commanding presence. At first, he was frightening to me, but in the coming days I noticed his
personable character.
Not all students come to school excited to learn, but Glennon is the type of teacher that has the
ability to make his class not only exciting, but memorable. Having taught for over forty years, he is
still able to find the joy in teaching and remains as enthusiastic as ever about the topic he teaches.

A GREAT TEACHER
Throughout my life I have been taught by a number of teachers, all of whom have had some form of
influence on me whether it be positive or negative. However, through this intellectual journey I have
discovered many qualities that have distinguished these great teachers from the rest.
A great teacher has certain qualities that distinguish him/her from the other teachers. He/she shows
qualities such as patience, kindness, flexibility, resourcefulness, tolerance and open–mindedness. He
/she also has a good sense of humour and is honest, humble, enthusiastic and most importantly
enjoys teaching. A great teacher always smiles at his/her pupils and dedicates him/herself to the
job. One special quality that I have most often found in a great teacher is that they are able to be
my friend. I do not know anyone better to trust and gain knowledge from than a friend. A friend is
often a person that you remember for the rest

Reflective Essay: A Good Teacher...
Standard 1: Development, learning, and motivation–
A teacher has his or her own style or way of motivating their students. Motivation plays an
important part in a student's success of learning and development. There are times when teachers
spend more time with their students than most parents do, thus, a teacher is fundamental in
shaping their students success. If parents or teachers are poor leaders our children are the ones
who are at a disadvantage. When they shine as leaders our children blossom and the world is wide
open to them. As a future teacher it is of utmost importance that I make sure to find the best style of
teaching for the students I will be teaching in order for them to receive the...show more content...
Not every child learns the same way, nor are they interested in the same things. In my fieldwork I
have noticed that it is becoming more difficult to keep the attention of twenty to twenty–five
children under the age of ten. Most of the students in the class were not really that interested in
researching or reading. When it came time to learn a new activity they would sigh and state that
they did not want to do any of the work. However, if a conversation was sparked about a new
video game they were all excited to converse about it. A good teacher must learn to incorporate
everyone's beliefs into the daily curriculum. All students must be aware of the differences in the
world and around them. Teachers have a lot of responsibility and need to make sure that they make
learning a positive experience for all. By being sensitive to the needs of everyone and presenting
different ways of doing things, it can be possible for everyone to have an equal opportunity to do
their best.
Standard 3: Instruction– Differentiated instruction is very effective in the classroom. Teachers
should be well aware of how greatly students may vary in readiness, interest, and modes of learning.
Teachers need to work to adjust the classroom to the needs of subgroups of students. Cooperative
learning or student– centered instruction is not a new concept. Like direct instruction it has been
used as

It has not been easy but challenging and interesting. Unfortunately in this present job I have no
colleagues, institution authorities or supervisors, which means anything I do in the classroom
hardly ever provides me any feedback of what I am doing. Except of course for the eventual
commentaries I receive from my students and the annual performance evaluation. Therefore I had
this urgent necessity of obtaining some refreshment and reviewing of what I am doing in my
classroom. I need to make a stop to reflect about how effective my teaching is. If the things I am
doing are adequate and suitable to take my pupils to achieve their goal to communicate in the target
language. Teaching in this context was at the beginning of the journey a frightening and stressing
episode, first of all because I did not know anything about mining, geology, finance and accounting,
just to mention some and not to make myself look like a complete ignorant. Secondly the
atmosphere in a corporate has nothing to do with the informal ambience in an elementary school and
thirdly but not least important, the students expectations and perceptions are not the same. Thus, I
had to remake myself. Everything started when I was invited to work with them; I did the typical

Throughout my lifetime, I've had both unsatisfactory and superb teachers that were both memorable
to me. All teachers have flaws and there is no perfect teacher; however, there are teachers whose
negative qualities could overpower their positive points. Despite the characteristics of a teacher,
what makes them different is the strategy they use to teach and the environment they create.
Depending on these two aspects, students would use their preference to determine whether they
have been memorable in both a negative or positive way. There has been various teachers I've
encountered and there were a few that I would have considered a displeasing teacher. Overall, the
few teachers whose traits were organized, enthusiastic, and easygoing were characteristics that I
would considered a good teacher. There are many students that would have prefered certain trait
such as organization skills. If a teacher were to be disorganized, then many students would
complain about the amount of ungraded assignments that are affecting their grade. I had a teacher
who was like this, she had piles of papers on her desk and she stressed with both her work and
personal life. Despite the amount of stress that she had, she was still enthusiastic with her job. She
had an unusual strategy because she would fuse the latest trends with the assignments. For example,
she would call our grammar packet the "nae–nae" and the our reference packet the "whip". On the

It 's good for the mind and body to have a break, get some sleep, be with friends, eat some food,

college and various jobs I have worked. I was always an Astudent and a dedicated athlete and a

In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students,

approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different
learning styles but I will also use different teaching styles during the curriculum. The different
methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation
which uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem,
coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the experiment, reading the results, and finally
completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which
is the thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem
solving. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles
and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which

cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and

My Ideal Teacher : My Ideal Teacher
When people get older, it possibly may be hard to find a teacher that is suitable for oneself. A
teacher is something everyone has at at least one point in their life, whether very academic or
not. If I could create my ideal teacher, my ideal teacher would be an academic teacher. I would
probably give him qualities most of my current teachers currently have. An ideal teacher for me
would prefer him to teach language arts. Language arts has always been somewhat of a struggle,
for as far my memory serves. For me, an ideal teacher would have a good sense of humor, but also
enforce expectations and rules. I for the most part feel those two elements in a classroom help me
concentrate and learn better. Another thing to add to the ideal teacher would be willingness to help
with my writing and expand my reading horizon. Those two things are very important to me, for as
long as I can for the most part remember. For me, ideal teachers don't have to have much, but still
seem to be hard to find.
There are many subjects teachers in school could essentially be interested in teaching, but my
prefered subject for him or her would most likely be language arts in a sort of major way.
Language arts for the most part was always the subject I struggled in, so I generally try to make it
one of my first priorities. In years prior, my language arts teachers were always nice, helped with
learning items better and such. I recall in 6th grade, language arts was always a struggle. One day
my teacher decided to help me. It made me ecstatic because it would help me. In the long run, it
helped a great deal and I even made honor role. Personally, when it comes to learning, good
teachers make all the difference in a big way. Good teachers always help with concentration, and
then I particularly become interested in the material. When I become interested in material, it
encourages me to study and strive for a good grade, which is fairly significant.
If I had a chance to create my ideal teacher, I would incorporate humor and clear expectations. I
mostly find that I listen to teachers much more when they set clear rules and expectations in place. It
specifically makes it easier to think in that specific environment because I know what the

If we want to enlarge our perspective, discover and enhance our gifts, and be inspired to become
better people, what we need to look for is great teacher. I believe all of us has been blessed by a
good teacher in our own home, in school, or in church. That teacher is great not only because of her
knowledge but because of her love for students, effective teaching skills and good example. Those
are the qualities I strive to cultivate in my pursuit to become an excellent educator as well. A
good teacher loves her students. She knows them and recognizes their' worth, effort, and potential
for excellence. In her class, her students feel valued, are free to express, and are motivated to
succeed. This fine teacher sets appropriately high expectations for them and is fair to everyone.
She helps her students be responsible for their own learning and be their best selves. This
sensitive teacher keeps her students' profiles in mind as she plans and teaches her lessons. She is
never afraid to let go of her detailed plan to better address her students' learning needs and reaches

Throughout the numerous experiences I have had during my time at Benedictine University, I have
learned different lessons and values that will prove important to my teaching career. The different
courses, teachers, and schools that I had the opportunity to work with have helped me grow as an
educator and provided me with the tools needed in order to be successful. My first observation
experience was eye–opening. Upon my arrival to Providence Catholic High School, I only had basic
knowledge about what it took to be an effective teacher. After working with many different teachers
at this high school, it became evident that every teacher adopted their own style of teaching. I also
began to understand that in order to be a wonderful...show more content...
I learned quickly that being an effective teacher is an art that takes time and devotion. Many
times, teachers are not provided with the necessary materials in order to maintain the various
learning styles in a classroom. It is up to the teacher to create an environment where students can
succeed. This is a full time job, meaning that a teacher's work is not done once they leave the
school. A teacher must contribute a significant amount of time and effort in order to see positive
results in the school and in his or her own classroom. After observing my cooperating teacher's
strategies and learning more about the profession, I knew that I was going in the right direction
with my life. I took a significant amount of knowledge away from this experience and have
continued to strive to be the type of educator that I was blessed to work with during this experience. .
During my second preclinical experience at Westview Hills Middle School, I learned the
importance of cooperation and collaboration among teachers at a school. I was able to observe team
and department meetings during this experience. It became clear that it is important for teachers to
work together in order to provide a positive atmosphere at a school and in a specific department.

Ideal Teacher Essay

  • 1. What Is An Ideal Teacher Essay The word 'Ideal' according to dictionary means, "Something which is perfect" or "Model of excellence". So in the words of Confucius, "The ideal teacher guides his students but does not pull them along. He urges them to go forward and does not suppress them. He opens the way but does not take them to the place". The teachers as we cognize are plentiful but "Ideal Teachers" are rare of the rarest. Everybody can be a teacher but an Ideal teacher is "One in a Million". An Ideal teacher can make a lot of great students. It is an acknowledged fact that an Ideal education cannot be imparted in absence of an Ideal teacher. Ideal teachers are therefore, the dire need of every society. In fact, Ideal teachers are the backbone of any progressive scheme of national education. An Ideal teacher is one we respect from our heart. He acts, as a guide to the students, but at the same times does not pushes them too much. A perfect teacher motivates the students and boosts their morale. He tries to encourage the students and refrains from criticizing them. Such a teacher prefers to give positive motivation to...show more content... In fact, it is a complex process. Besides, they need to feel responsible for the students learning process, regardless the students' aptitude to learn. • 2. Professional Skills As A Teacher Being an educator is one of the most challenging professions in the world due to its constantly changing clientele and practices. To be a successful teacher in this field one must be committed to lifelong learning. Learning in the field of education comes from colleagues, students, reflection on one's practices and the advice and observation of other's in the profession (Garmston, 1998 ). One valuable tool that teacher's have to rely on are the numerous professional organizations catered to the field of education. Teachers who wish to improve usually join organizations that will educate them on the newest and most effective practices in their field. In this paper, I will discuss the educational organizations that I have joined and believe will enrich my professional skills as a teacher. Educators have a number of responsibilities that they are held accountable for. They are required a master in several different areas. Charlotte Danielson (1996) author of "Enhancing Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching" discusses what responsible teachers must do to improve student learning. She believes that there are 4 domains in which teachers must function. After reviewing Danielson's domains, I have identified my strength in Domain One. This domain focuses on planning and preparation. I find this domain to be my strength because of my ability to organize my class period to maximize learning. On several occasions, I have been praised by my administration staff for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. A Good Teacher Essay Who is a teacher and what makes a good teacher? By definition, a teacher is a person who teaches, especially in school, but can anyone be a teacher? That is a matter of the possession of qualification and the overall talent utilized whilst on the workforce. Having such qualification simply doesn't create a good teacher, though. Becoming a good teacher requires work, effort and time that one must be willing to sacrifice from their daily lives. A good teacher must be able to teach the students clearly. He/she must be well prepared, whether it is regarding the lesson of the day or any sudden questions the pupil may ask. A good teacher should have confidence with themselves and be organized at all times. A good teacher respects his/her job and tries to be as effective as possible. But from being a good teacher, there is one higher form of teachers' ranking and that is being a great and effective teacher. Being a good teacher is easy, but being a great teacher requires more effort than what is usually expected and required. With being a great teacher, teaching is not a job, but a...show more content... With that knowledge only can a person be creative about it. A certain degree of knowledge is essential for one person to be able to adapt it to any situation or use it as an output in the education industry whilst teaching. But can intelligent people be creative? Few studies have claimed that not all intelligent people can be creative, but other researches have shown this to be fabricated. Creativity is claimed to be the highest form of intelligence. So, should creativity be looked upon as if opposed to intelligence? Creativity is one of the qualities of intelligence; same way as analytical intelligence and practical intelligence. Although analytical and practical intelligence plays an important role, without creativity, the task loses the touch of the creator, thus making it the same as everyone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Socrates Ideal Teacher What makes a good teacher? Well, according to teaching staff, "great teachers engage students and get them to look at issues in a variety of ways." They say that asking students "why" questions can bring about deeper thinking. One such teacher was a master at this idea, and his name was Socrates. Socrates was an unwanted teacher in Greece from "469 BC to about 399 BC". I say unwanted because of his sarcastic, and obnoxious ways of asking, and answering, questions. To his students though, his lessons were priceless. He had a unique way of breaking down complex concepts into simple examples to help his students, and foes, understand him. Many also thought of Socrates as unbearable because of his habit to bring everything into question, and study. This method did bring many important philosophers into the world despite its unappreciated effect at the time. Using The Great Dialogues of Plato, and educated sources, it is easy to see that Socrates is an intriguing teacher. Socrates's Socratic method to add to his unique teaching methods. Socrates is known for his many questions that seem to have no answer that is simple, but he does this on purpose to challenge his students. Studies from Stanford say that, "The Socratic method uses questions to examine the values, principles, and beliefs of students." After gathering that information, Socrates can then discern which approach to take to help his student understand. In book one of Republic Socrates is engaged in a discussion with fellow townspeople, and the topic is Justice. Socrates is curious, 'what is justice?', and, 'what makes something just?' "What is the thing rendered by the art that we are to call justice?" (pg. 331) This question, asked by Socrates, causes a pause among his listeners as they search for a logical answer that would appease him. The conversations goes on and more questions are asked. Socrates eventually find no solid answer to his questions, and is dissatisfied with the whole scenario. Although his questions are complex, they intrigue students to listen, and respond to him in a way that modern students would be unable to. Socrates breaks down his lesson into simple concepts in order to make his point understandable for students. Just like a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. A Day in the Life of a Teacher Essay A Day in the Life of a Teacher I hear the sound of my alarm clock at 6:30am. Time to get up! I wish it was Saturday, no school! No, I'm not a child, nor a student, but a teacher! You don't think we enjoy everyday at work, do you? No. That's rubbish. Let me continue with my story of a day in the life of a teacher.. As I force myself out of bed, a chilling thought comes over me. It's Wednesday. This means I still have three whole days to get through until the weekend. Better get a move on if I want to make it on time. First, I take a shower. I do this every morning to liven myself up and to prepare for the day ahead of me. Today first up we have a whole school assembly. That's one reason why I...show more content... I make my way to class avoiding the students and setup and wait in the class until the bell goes at half past 8. Outside the kids are eagerly waiting to be let inside, like a pack of puppies waiting for you to open the door just so they can jump all over you with their muddy paws. What do they eat, must be something like froot–loops. Which would explain not just the sugar rush but a for a few others something else too. As soon as we are all in class, which doesn't take long, I give announcements and ask the class to take their chairs to assembly. When we arrive I round up my class, and once everyone is seated its time to go home. I wish! Though it is about 20minutes later. At the beginning of every assembly we stand and sing the national anthem. Which doesn't sound like an anthem at all. Instead of sounding like we are proud and free, it's sung in a droning tone. When we sit down I shush all the chatters and the assembly begins. As a teacher it's our duty to listen to what is happening around the school while also keeping a small eye, quite like a hawks, on the class. We all usually sit back, act interested and see all the small things that go on. Like the two kids who like each other keep pretending to 'look around the room' but are really trying to catch a smile. Then there are the bad kids, who are trying to make peashooters and all the usual blabbermouths who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Ideal Rockhurst Teacher Every person encounters one at some point in his or her lifetime, and the opinions on them are rarely indifferent. They all have their own unique style developed over years of practice and experimentation, and they endure long hours and weak pay year after year. Their jobs are often thankless, but they are critical to the success of the entire country. Without them, society as it is known would break down. I am talking of course about teachers. While the concept of a teacher is not particularly interesting, the idea of what constitutes the ideal Rockhurst teacher is. Although all students' exact ideas of the ideal teacher vary, a clear outline exists which reflects what the ideal Rockhurst teacher looks like. For one thing, the ideal Rockhurst...show more content... This is important because such a teacher makes a student feel comfortable in the classroom, causing students to be more open with their comments and questions. As Dylan Bassham adds, "It makes it easier to communicate with them when they are personable." Students who interact more in class are more engaged and excited about the material, making them more successful. For example, if a teacher makes fun of a student for a dumb question, the student will not be likely to ask questions in the future, hindering his academic development. This negative environment is toxic and not conducive to learning, but an understanding and personable teacher combats that. Jake Voge recounts that such teachers "make me feel more comfortable in the classroom, like he's talking to me, not at me." Nurturing an understanding classroom environment is thus essential for the ideal Rockhurst teacher. No perfect classroom would be complete without a bit of humor, and consequentially no ideal teacher would be either. Humor is the perfect tool for engaging students in the subject matter and it also serves to lighten the mood in a class. "Fun teachers make class more interesting" observes Zach Telford. When students become more interested, they start to seeschool not as a chore or a task but as an opportunity. Getting students excited about learning is one of the greatest challenges for a teacher, and being fun Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. What makes a good teacher? Essay In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well. Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content... It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher. "You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on. I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? • 8. Characteristics Of A Good Teacher Essay Item One: Write a short essay reflecting on what characteristics make a good teacher, using your own educational experiences. Without using names, identify the "best" and "worst" teacher that you have had and support your choices with rationales. What makes a good teacher? Ask this question to one hundred people and one would get one hundred different answers. I have contemplated this question myself over the course of my twenty years in education. The ideas that I have about the answer to this question are not the same ones that I had twenty years ago. In my personal experience being a "good" teacher is something that I always wanted. In recent years I have learned that teaching is not about being a "good" teacher but about striving each day to be a "better" teacher than I was the day before. A good teacher is one who knows her students and her students' needs. The students are the reason that the teacher is there. Classrooms are filled with students from differing backgrounds and families. As a teacher, one should know her students by talking with them, asking them questions, learning their likes and dislikes and making them feel safe and comfortable in the classroom. The classroom should be a safe haven for students where the teacher creates an atmosphere where students feel comfortable in being themselves and expressing their opinions. Another characteristic of a good teacher is one who knows her subject and is able to extend that knowledge to her students. Every Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on My Ideal Teacher My Ideal Teacher When I think about teachers that I have had in the past, several different ones come to my mind. Each of these educators stands out in my mind for a variety of diverse reasons. Whether it is their sense of humor, their tactfulness, their love of the subject matter, their fanatical and sporadic behavior, or their yearning to be childish themselves, I can still remember at least one quality of every teacher I have ever encountered. Every one of these teachers conveyed subject material to their students just as they were educated and employed to do. However, I trust that every professional in the world has an abundance of opportunity for improvement; teachers could discover and improve themselves merely by having...show more content... I had a teacher in high school that began each class with a funny story or a random fact. We, as students, looked forward to attending to his classes just to know what he had brought for us that day. He was a stern teacher, but everyone appreciated him because he showed an interest in us enjoying his classes. An additional way that educators can make the class stimulating while maintaining student interest is to include voice fluctuations and floor coverage in their lectures. We have all experienced those teachers who never change their voice or their position on the floor during the course of an hour. These monotone voices and stand still positions are almost hypnotizing; students get sluggish and drop curiosity fast. My ideal teacher would use their voice to expand and carry on the students' attention for the whole hour. Using voice to emphasize an important point or even an incident that is being discussed can be very valuable in creating excitement for the students. When a teacher moves about the room, one will notice that the students will focus on the teacher and their eyes will follow. Simply moving their eyes to follow the teacher's pattern of movements can be effective in keeping the student's attention. A teacher could even reenact or act out using body actions for various topics. This would make the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. A Teacher Who Influenced in My Life "A teacher's greatest joy is seeing his/her students have success." These are the first words that came out of the mouth of Mr. James Glennon on the first day of class. A man who can be considered ancient, with his white hair and thick rectangular glasses stood in front of the classroom with a commanding presence. At first, he was frightening to me, but in the coming days I noticed his personable character. Not all students come to school excited to learn, but Glennon is the type of teacher that has the ability to make his class not only exciting, but memorable. Having taught for over forty years, he is still able to find the joy in teaching and remains as enthusiastic as ever about the topic he teaches. Throughout the years, I have made my decisions based on what she has taught me, and it has brought me closer to, what I believe to be, a successful and morally good life. I owe everything to her. I do not want to even begin to imagine what my life would be like without the influence of Ms. Mount. A GREAT TEACHER Throughout my life I have been taught by a number of teachers, all of whom have had some form of influence on me whether it be positive or negative. However, through this intellectual journey I have discovered many qualities that have distinguished these great teachers from the rest. A great teacher has certain qualities that distinguish him/her from the other teachers. He/she shows qualities such as patience, kindness, flexibility, resourcefulness, tolerance and open–mindedness. He /she also has a good sense of humour and is honest, humble, enthusiastic and most importantly enjoys teaching. A great teacher always smiles at his/her pupils and dedicates him/herself to the job. One special quality that I have most often found in a great teacher is that they are able to be my friend. I do not know anyone better to trust and gain knowledge from than a friend. • 11. Reflective Essay on a Good Teacher... Reflective Essay: A Good Teacher... Standard 1: Development, learning, and motivation– A teacher has his or her own style or way of motivating their students. Motivation plays an important part in a student's success of learning and development. There are times when teachers spend more time with their students than most parents do, thus, a teacher is fundamental in shaping their students success. If parents or teachers are poor leaders our children are the ones who are at a disadvantage. When they shine as leaders our children blossom and the world is wide open to them. As a future teacher it is of utmost importance that I make sure to find the best style of teaching for the students I will be teaching in order for them to receive the...show more content... Not every child learns the same way, nor are they interested in the same things. In my fieldwork I have noticed that it is becoming more difficult to keep the attention of twenty to twenty–five children under the age of ten. Most of the students in the class were not really that interested in researching or reading. When it came time to learn a new activity they would sigh and state that they did not want to do any of the work. However, if a conversation was sparked about a new video game they were all excited to converse about it. A good teacher must learn to incorporate everyone's beliefs into the daily curriculum. All students must be aware of the differences in the world and around them. Teachers have a lot of responsibility and need to make sure that they make learning a positive experience for all. By being sensitive to the needs of everyone and presenting different ways of doing things, it can be possible for everyone to have an equal opportunity to do their best. Standard 3: Instruction– Differentiated instruction is very effective in the classroom. Teachers should be well aware of how greatly students may vary in readiness, interest, and modes of learning. Teachers need to work to adjust the classroom to the needs of subgroups of students. Cooperative learning or student– centered instruction is not a new concept. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve...show more content... It has not been easy but challenging and interesting. Unfortunately in this present job I have no colleagues, institution authorities or supervisors, which means anything I do in the classroom hardly ever provides me any feedback of what I am doing. Except of course for the eventual commentaries I receive from my students and the annual performance evaluation. Therefore I had this urgent necessity of obtaining some refreshment and reviewing of what I am doing in my classroom. I need to make a stop to reflect about how effective my teaching is. If the things I am doing are adequate and suitable to take my pupils to achieve their goal to communicate in the target language. Teaching in this context was at the beginning of the journey a frightening and stressing episode, first of all because I did not know anything about mining, geology, finance and accounting, just to mention some and not to make myself look like a complete ignorant. Secondly the atmosphere in a corporate has nothing to do with the informal ambience in an elementary school and thirdly but not least important, the students expectations and perceptions are not the same. Thus, I had to remake myself. Everything started when I was invited to work with them; I did the typical searching about the company and the leaders, anyone would do for that first good desirable impression one wants to give in the job interview. That was my first contact with the mining Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My Ideal Teacher Throughout my lifetime, I've had both unsatisfactory and superb teachers that were both memorable to me. All teachers have flaws and there is no perfect teacher; however, there are teachers whose negative qualities could overpower their positive points. Despite the characteristics of a teacher, what makes them different is the strategy they use to teach and the environment they create. Depending on these two aspects, students would use their preference to determine whether they have been memorable in both a negative or positive way. There has been various teachers I've encountered and there were a few that I would have considered a displeasing teacher. Overall, the few teachers whose traits were organized, enthusiastic, and easygoing were characteristics that I would considered a good teacher. There are many students that would have prefered certain trait such as organization skills. If a teacher were to be disorganized, then many students would complain about the amount of ungraded assignments that are affecting their grade. I had a teacher who was like this, she had piles of papers on her desk and she stressed with both her work and personal life. Despite the amount of stress that she had, she was still enthusiastic with her job. She had an unusual strategy because she would fuse the latest trends with the assignments. For example, she would call our grammar packet the "nae–nae" and the our reference packet the "whip". On the other hand, she didn't grade everything Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A good teacher is someone who is patient with her students, who creatively and relentlessly finds helpful ways to communicate ideas to students, and who instills confidence in her students by setting them up for success. A good teacher inspires her students to strive for more than they think possible. A good teacher teaches her students how to learn on their own. A good teacher is able to manage a class effectively and cultivate a space that is free and safe for learning. And, most importantly, a good teacher is always driven by a motivation of genuine love and care for her students....show more content... It 's good for the mind and body to have a break, get some sleep, be with friends, eat some food, etc.; sometimes I just get so excited and focused on going above and beyond that I neglect other, equally important things. This has always been a problem in my life throughout high school and college and various jobs I have worked. I was always an Astudent and a dedicated athlete and a devoted employee – I have even received feedback from employers at times telling me to not work so much in my free time. I have learned that sometimes it is better to settle for simpler and equally sufficient activities/solutions than to spend hours of personal time coming up with something more "interesting" or creative; and while I believe I have made some progress in making these determinations of when to spend less time on work in personal time, I think it will always be an area I can work to improve on. Teaching Approaches There are several methods and approaches of teaching available to be used in the EFL classroom. As Davies and Fraenkel point out in their book, The Language in English Teaching, there is no "best" method but rather different choices based on each unique learning situation.1 In the context of a B2 level classroom, where students have already developed a degree of fluency and spontaneity in the target Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I am excited to be engaged in a future career where I can implement my own beliefs and mold the future into something extremely positive. I believe the most important aspects that I want to bring to my students are threefold: I want to educate, motivate, and inspire. In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students, many different factors must take place. First and foremost, it is important to me that I master exceptional classroom management skills. Effective and efficient learning takes place when expectations in the classroom are consistent and clear. Also, discipline in...show more content... These learning styles include; auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. By mastering and using as many learning styles as I can, I will make sure each student is able to get the most out of their learning experience. I understand that every child learns differently and understanding how to use different approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different learning styles but I will also use different teaching styles during the curriculum. The different methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation which uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem, coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the experiment, reading the results, and finally completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which is the thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem solving. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which includes identification and evaluation to problem solving. Finally, I will use the method of cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and social learning experience. I believe that every one of these method can be valued Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Ideal Teacher : My Ideal Teacher When people get older, it possibly may be hard to find a teacher that is suitable for oneself. A teacher is something everyone has at at least one point in their life, whether very academic or not. If I could create my ideal teacher, my ideal teacher would be an academic teacher. I would probably give him qualities most of my current teachers currently have. An ideal teacher for me would prefer him to teach language arts. Language arts has always been somewhat of a struggle, for as far my memory serves. For me, an ideal teacher would have a good sense of humor, but also enforce expectations and rules. I for the most part feel those two elements in a classroom help me concentrate and learn better. Another thing to add to the ideal teacher would be willingness to help with my writing and expand my reading horizon. Those two things are very important to me, for as long as I can for the most part remember. For me, ideal teachers don't have to have much, but still seem to be hard to find. There are many subjects teachers in school could essentially be interested in teaching, but my prefered subject for him or her would most likely be language arts in a sort of major way. Language arts for the most part was always the subject I struggled in, so I generally try to make it one of my first priorities. In years prior, my language arts teachers were always nice, helped with learning items better and such. I recall in 6th grade, language arts was always a struggle. One day my teacher decided to help me. It made me ecstatic because it would help me. In the long run, it helped a great deal and I even made honor role. Personally, when it comes to learning, good teachers make all the difference in a big way. Good teachers always help with concentration, and then I particularly become interested in the material. When I become interested in material, it encourages me to study and strive for a good grade, which is fairly significant. If I had a chance to create my ideal teacher, I would incorporate humor and clear expectations. I mostly find that I listen to teachers much more when they set clear rules and expectations in place. It specifically makes it easier to think in that specific environment because I know what the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My Ideal Teacher If we want to enlarge our perspective, discover and enhance our gifts, and be inspired to become better people, what we need to look for is great teacher. I believe all of us has been blessed by a good teacher in our own home, in school, or in church. That teacher is great not only because of her knowledge but because of her love for students, effective teaching skills and good example. Those are the qualities I strive to cultivate in my pursuit to become an excellent educator as well. A good teacher loves her students. She knows them and recognizes their' worth, effort, and potential for excellence. In her class, her students feel valued, are free to express, and are motivated to succeed. This fine teacher sets appropriately high expectations for them and is fair to everyone. She helps her students be responsible for their own learning and be their best selves. This sensitive teacher keeps her students' profiles in mind as she plans and teaches her lessons. She is never afraid to let go of her detailed plan to better address her students' learning needs and reaches out to those who struggle. Interaction with her inside and outside the classroom is sincere and empowering. Since I have started teaching, I have been striving to apply these principles. I pray for my students even before I meet them. I talk to them, ask and observe how they are doing, and try to serve them. I think of them and their needs as I study and make my lesson plan. • 18. Throughout the numerous experiences I have had during my time at Benedictine University, I have learned different lessons and values that will prove important to my teaching career. The different courses, teachers, and schools that I had the opportunity to work with have helped me grow as an educator and provided me with the tools needed in order to be successful. My first observation experience was eye–opening. Upon my arrival to Providence Catholic High School, I only had basic knowledge about what it took to be an effective teacher. After working with many different teachers at this high school, it became evident that every teacher adopted their own style of teaching. I also began to understand that in order to be a wonderful...show more content... I learned quickly that being an effective teacher is an art that takes time and devotion. Many times, teachers are not provided with the necessary materials in order to maintain the various learning styles in a classroom. It is up to the teacher to create an environment where students can succeed. This is a full time job, meaning that a teacher's work is not done once they leave the school. A teacher must contribute a significant amount of time and effort in order to see positive results in the school and in his or her own classroom. After observing my cooperating teacher's strategies and learning more about the profession, I knew that I was going in the right direction with my life. I took a significant amount of knowledge away from this experience and have continued to strive to be the type of educator that I was blessed to work with during this experience. . During my second preclinical experience at Westview Hills Middle School, I learned the importance of cooperation and collaboration among teachers at a school. I was able to observe team and department meetings during this experience. It became clear that it is important for teachers to work together in order to provide a positive atmosphere at a school and in a specific department. Although it became obvious that personalities and teaching styles were different throughout the school, the teachers still acted professionally and used each other as resources in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
