Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy
The time has come, we're running out of fossil fuels and we need an alternative. That is where
renewable energy comes in; The best part about it is that it is renewable so it will always be
available to us, and we can acquire this energy through solar, water, and wind power. There is a lot
of controversy as to whether we should rely on renewable energy, because some say it is not cost
effective. However renewable energy can pay for itself, is available nearly everywhere through
various methods of obtaining it, provides numerous amount of jobs and economical benefits, and it
will not harm our environment.
One of the biggest, but not most obvious reasons for switching to renewable energy is that it will
pay for itself. One of the first things people think about when they make an investment is price;
Sure acquiring renewable energy such as solar power right now may not be cheap but as a matter of
fact during the duration of 2009–2014 the price of solar power dropped 78%(Gardiner)! The best
part about solar power is that it is available to nearly anyone. Likewise wind power has also dropped
58% in price and now is among one of the cheapest sources of power in the United States
(Gardiner) even though wind power is not available to the ordinary citizen. Switching to renewable
energy will save a boat load of money as the article "Committing to Renewable Energy Will Pay
Off" states "Investing in a renewable energy as the source for electricity in our future will save 10
times the

The Right to Privacy Essay
Privacy Laws – For
Privacy laws are established because people have a right to privacy, to an extent. For many years
people have argued over their privacy rights, from online videos, to people spying on them, even
people stealing internet. People think that they should be completely secluded from others seeing
what they're doing, but in all reality, there's no stopping people from seeing what you are doing.
With more people using the flaws within our media and lives, we as a society must come to accept
the fact that people are watching us.
With new technology coming out, people have a chance to abuse their flaws. Browsers should make
it to where hackers are unable to look at their personal material. We all know that's not happening

"Parents or eligible students have the right to inspect and review the student's education records
maintained by the school." (U.S. Department of Education) Because of FERPA, The Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act, parents are able to monitor their student/children progress in
school. If a student were to lie about a grade, the parents have several ways to find out if they
were lying. First of all, for Alvarado, we have Skyward, a way for parents and students to check
grades, and with FERPA, they can also get the records themselves. "Protecting Children's Privacy
Online – The law sets out specific guidelines about the online collection of personal information
from children under 13." (The U.S. Small Business Administration) With more creepers and people
looking for an easy target, it's so easy for them to get your information. With this law protecting
thirteen year olds and younger, it's harder for them to get to them. My opinion though, is that they
should raise the age, teenagers are still young, and they can do some reckless things either over the
web, or in real life. The government is starting to take action in protecting us, but we need to learn
to accept it. Yes, change is difficult to get use to or agree with, but change is good. "Health

The Importance of Citation in Academic Writing
The Importance of Citing in Academic Writing
Many students today fail to understand the importance of citing sources when they write academic
papers. Furthermore, some only cite sources because they are concerned about the grade that they
are going to get if their paper is not complete. Plagiarism has become a common practice as
individuals prefer to steal intellectual information from others. The ability to create is one of
humanity's most important talents and it is wrong for someone to rob an individual of his or her
right to put across his or her creativity. Most people understand the unfairness of committing
plagiarism when their ideas are stolen and used without their consent and with the person who
committed this immorality expressing no interest in referencing them.
Academic writing encompasses a complex set of concepts and a person who wants to do it needs
to get actively engaged in writing a document is likely to be reviewed by a group of scholars
familiar with the subject under discussion. A citation is basically "a signpost and an
acknowledgement" (Hunter). The fact that it is a signpost means that it provides readers with
information regarding where they can find the source of the writer's inspiration. Its value as an
acknowledgement relates to how the writer needs to put across his or her appreciation in regard to
the sources that he or she used.
In the academic world writers can only function by using sources and this is largely what keeps this

In his article "Does Your Language Shape How You Think?" the author Guy Deutscher discusses
how the acquisition of one's mother tongue shapes one's view of the world. The article was
published in The New York Times in August 2010. The author's major paradigm is that every
language one learns influences one's mind and feelings in a different way. Deutscher explains that
depending on one's mother tongue, objects can be considered masculine or feminine, which results
in the speaker feeling differently about them. The author believes that different languages do indeed
make one speak about space in different ways as well; although he claims people do not have
entirely different views of it. Deutscher then explains that experiments have shown that

Prison Overcrowding Essay
In the 1970s and 1980s, a massive amount of inmates began fillin up the United States prison
systems. This huge rate of growth in this short amount of time, has greatly contributed to the prison
overcrowding that the United States faces today. In fact, the prisons are still filled to the seams. This
enormous flood of inmates has made it practically impossible for prison officials to keep up with
their facilities and supervise their inmates. One of the main reasons why many prisons have become
overcrowded is because of states' harsh criminal laws and parole practices (Cohen). "One in every
100 American adults is behind bars, the highest incarceration rate in the world" (Cohen). The amount
of inmates in corrections systems, throughout the...show more content...
One major problem of prison overcrowding is the effect it has on prison organizational stability.
The more prisoners and people put in jail have made it harder for prison guards and staff to
monitor and control them. The entire prison system must make enormous changes in order to
accommodate for the number of inmates versus the number of prison guards (O'Leary). This often
results in a misclassification of offenders. Many who come through the system are classified based
on the amount of space available instead of on the security level and programs that would be most
suitable for them (Howard). "It is not uncommon to find inmates, classified as medium security,
incarcerated in maximum security institutions, while other inmates are in medium security who
were previously considered candidates for maximum security" (Howard). Misclassifying offenders
often leads to "slow progress through the corrections system as well as a slow exit" (Howard). This
in turn only prolongs and increases the overcrowding problem (Howard). The corrections programs
should be reformed to meet the needs of the inmates rather than the inmates having to adjust to meet
the requirements of the system. Offenders need to be on specific rehabilitation programs that are
customized to fit their needs, such as alcohol and drug abuse programs and so forth.
While the inmates have to suffer the effects of overcrowding, so do the

Utilisation of electrical power at distributed side have become more and more involved concerning
meeting the growing energy demand. Seventy 5 percent of total world energy demand is fulfilled
by the burning of fossil fuels. But higher cost of fossil fuels and increasing air pollution, global
warming concerns, it necessary to seem towards renewable sources as a future energy answer. Since
the past decade, there has been a colossal interest in several countries on renewable energy for power
generation. The market liberalization and government's encouragement have more accelerated the

Renewable energy source (RES) integrated at distribution level is known as distributed generation

Gender and Sexuality Essay
Males and females are classed differently from the moment they are pronounced boy or girl. Gender
determines the differences in power and control in which men and women have over the
socioeconomic determinants of their health, lives and status in their community. Our society moulds
how men and women should and should not behave and can be observed in all parts of our society.
As a result of these Gender stereotypes men and women have issues which affect their health which
are unique to each gender. Males for example are perceived to be greater risk takers as a whole in
our society than that of females. We represent risk taking behavior with masculinity and violence,
high speed driving and contact sport with the male gender. (Doyle 2005)...show more content...
Women in the last thirty years or so have fought for equality among the sexes in all forms. The
Women?s movement have fought hard to change this socially constructed view of our society.
Due to this double burden placed on working mothers there is a far greater demand on their bodies
and an increasingly likelihood of illness in many forms as well as psychological trauma such as
depression and anxiety due to the constant workload. Females in the past were argued as having a
less likelihood of illness because they were not as abundant in the workforce thus giving them more
relaxation time.
When males retire around the age group of 55 to 65 many of them pass away early due to the
dramatic change in lifestyle. They go from five days a week working nine or ten hour days to
completely nothing and because they have become so adapted to the working week they change
their habits, their lifestyle differs and they develop sickness and health problems.
As health is seen as a holistic concept we also have to focus on the psychological side of health.
Mental illnesses affect around one in every three people and an individual?s gender is a critical
determinant of mental health and mental illness. Women are much more likely to develop mental
health problems then males do. The most predominant of these disorders are depression, anxiety and
somatic complaints.

solar energy Essay
Solar Energy
All life on Earth depends on energy from the sun. Solar energy is the source of
energy for photosynthesis. It provides the warmth necessary for plants and animals to
survive. Scientists have found a way to use God's natural light towards the advantage
of our daily lives. The affects of this idea revolutionary, results ofsolar power could
lead to a more modernized society and efficient economy.
Solar energy is a term that usually means the direct use of sunlight to produce
heat or electric power. Solar technology is improving rapidly. Someday, it may
provide a clean and abundant source of power. Solar energy is a very useful resource.
Today 80% of the energy we use comes from fossil fuels and about 1% comes...show more content...
Scientists have developed a
way to convert the energy absorbed by the sun in the daylight to a rechargeable
battery when night falls. So when the sun shines the next morning, it is a recycling
process.
However, even though solar power has its advantages, some scientists argue
it's Disadvantages. The sun's energy is plentiful, but it is thinly distributed over a
large area and must be collected and concentrated to produce usable power. As a
result, solar energy is a more expensive power source than fossil fuels for most
applications. On the other even though it may be more expensive its well worth it.
Deaths caused by sicknesses such as lung failure can quickly be cut in half. For, most
of the time people develop bad lungs by breathing in the pollutants lingering in the air
produced by cars, buses, and other types of automobiles. Solutions such as
carpooling were developed in order to decreased the amount driving cars but it
seemed ineffective. Solar power seems to be the only real logical solution. Picture
highway of automobiles in motion without inhaling any type of harmful chemical in
your body.
Ever since the dawn of time, the sun has been a resource we cannot live or do
without, so its not such a shock that man has come up with the idea of solar energy .
The ideas of solar energy dangerous and some, a very valuable asset
to the modern world. However, I feel that solar power is a great idea, by using

Social, Biological And Cognitive Changes
As children enter adolescence, cultural, biological and cognitive changes cause variation in their
daily lives. Adolescents spend far less time with their parents and begin participating in both
structured and unstructured peer activities.Without the direct presence of their parents or other
adults, their peer network begins to become the primary context for most socialization and activity.
These social "cliques" fundamentally influence adolescent life and development.Perhaps because
they are perceived as an external threat to parental authority, undesired changes in adolescent
behavior are often attributed to cliques. In these situations, cliques are described as "social
grouping[s] of persons that exhibit a great deal of peer pressure on its members and is exclusive,
based on superficial differences".Researchers, however, question these assumptions: based on
empiric data from both experiments and ethnographies they suggest that clique structure
characterizes many friendship networks within any given school, not all of which negatively affect
adolescents.A more neutral and scientific definition of clique is "a grouping of persons who interact
with each other more regularly and intensely than others in the same setting." Although cliques can
range from two to twelve people, cliques typically consist of five or six people who are
homogeneous in age, gender, race, social status, and socioeconomic background.More subtle

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in 2013, Americans generated about 254
million tons of trash and recycled about 87 million tons, equivalent to a 34.3 % recycling rate. On
average, we recycled and composted 1.51 pounds of our individual waste generation of 4.40 pounds
per person per day (EPA). And even so some might argue the cost effectiveness ofrecycling I find
this EPA statistic along with the obvious alleviation on global warming and all its effects reason
enough to take a closer look at our recycling mentality. Waste prevention is possible in every life
situation: in the home, at the office or at work, at school or on the road yet we are reluctant to
engage in recycling and therefore waste reduction. We need to avoid waste instead of causing it.
Taken the ecological benefit of recycling through the reduction of air– and water pollution and also
greenhouse gas emissions, some might ask if recycling is economically worthwhile. Building new,
more effective, recycling plants to process reusable products and upgrading existing waste
processing facilities involves high initial costs and creates more pollution. John Tierney, a journalist
for the New York Times, points out in his article "The Reign of Recycling," recycling is not always
cost effective and is an increasingly expensive way to produce materials and therefore the
environmental benefits diminish. He also points out that the net cost of recycling by far outweighs
the costs of simply dumping the

Personal Reflection On Engineering
CVEN 4701 Reflection
Yuyang Zhang z5101032 3.1 c
Engineering involves in designing and constructing buildings and bridges, which are related closely
to people's life. Being a professional engineer and knowing the accountabilities are important to
contribute to the safety. Engineering is used to make people's life more convenient, so when
engineers carry out their responsibilities, people's life and wealth safety can be protected. Besides
that, a design should meet the safety regulations to keep the normal operation and protect the
workers. Engineers should take the responsibility to eliminate the damage to the environment. In this
semester, we did an energy assignment, in which we achieved a renewable fraction of 77.7% and the
emission was reduced. That means the emission to global warming is little, public health and
environmental quality are improved and the dependence on fossil fuels is reduced. Besides that
design itself, the contribution to the whole environment can also fulfil the engineer's social value.
3.1 d
In the first workshop of this class, an engineering world with strict regulations was presented by the
professor to me. All engineering designs and researches are the fruit of the engineers' intellect and
hard work. Respecting the intellectual property rights is the principle to everyone in engineering
field. All the essays that I have been referred to have clear references of citation. I have learned

The Importance Of Communication In Daily Life
Communication in your daily life can cause problems eventually. Planning a trip for your family
takes time and effort to present the idea. Communicating to certain family members could be
difficult in explaining the plan. Take the time to brain storm on piece of paper to list important
matters before speaking. Evaluate alone and practice speaking and listen to how it sounds. Decide
on different places and prices for the trip for starters also things they might need on the trip and what
business they should take care at home. The list should consists of reservations for hotels, emergency
contact numbers, suitcases for personal items, bills are taking care of, checking the forecast, form of
transportation, money, school absence report immediately and more. Using visual aids such as
charts, graphs and written materials is great information for communication. A problem occurred
when one or two out the group refuse to cooperate and the presentation for the trip is repeatedly
several times (Ridley, 2008) Communicating with a group of people such as your family is easier
than the workplace. My family listens well, but the problem settles in when money is involved. The
idea of a family vacation has their self–esteem high, but fear is the problem when asking them to
participate. Communicating to my family is compare to speaking to a brick wall. Presenting myself
about the trip would obviously make me feel foolish for the way the family stares at my face. Past
negative experience was

There are two modules to assess cognitive function of household members: the module EK1 for
children aged 7–14 years old and module EK2 for young adults aged 15–24 years old. Each module
basically comprises two different types of test: a short form of the Raven's Color Matrices (CPM)
test assessing a non–verbal ability through pattern recognition and five math problems. While the
first part is very identical for two groups, the math problems are more difficult for the older group.
Although the CPM assessment is commonly used in medicine and psychology, it is known as the best
objective measure of general intelligence of an individual. The questions on the big personality traits
allow me to measure non–cognitive abilities of an individual.
As for education, it records the highest level of education attended and highest grade completed for
respondents 30 years and older, whereas the test scores (i.e. EBTANAS and the UAN/UN test

enrolled or those under 30 years.
The merit of the IFLS data also comes from the richness of health measures which consist of
self–reported and more objective indicators, that is self–reported general health status (GHS) and
illness symptoms, the number of activities of daily living (ADLs), hemoglobin levels, total and HDL

Anxiety And Anxiety Of Anxiety
Anxiety can be defined as "distress or uneasiness of the mind caused by fear of danger or
misfortune" (Anxiety, 1). Many individuals struggle with anxiety. As an individual dealing with
anxiety, a person may explore their past situations to get to the bottom on their anxiety. Do they ever
stop to think of what the root cause of anxiety may be? The motivation of anxiety can fluctuate
depending on what the root cause is. Biblically speaking, the Bible has a great deal to say about
anxiety and how to deal with anxiety as it arises. It is important to explore what motivates anxiety
and what the Bible has to say about anxiety. Anxiety can usually be found paired with another
psychological disorder, such as depression or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The
feelings of anxiety generally stem from having a lack of activity in the nucleus accumbens, which is
found in hippocampus. The nucleus accumbens "plays a critical role in the experience of pleasure
from naturally occurring reinforcers" (Reeve, 58). Although the nucleus accumbens is where your
pleasure and reinforcers are found, "your brains natural anti–anxiety chemicals are endorphins"
(Reeve, 59). When there is a lack of endorphins, an individual will start to feel "...jittery and tense"
as well as "...suffering and are in pain, and seeing themselves go to pieces" (Reeve, 193). Another
part of the brain that is responsible for anxiety is amygdala. Author Reeve, writer of text book

2– Genetic Inheritance:
In recent years, social–biologists have lots of evidence and arguments to suggest that the
evolutionary forces of natural selection influence the development of the traits such as corporation
and alteration that lie at the core of our ethical systems.
3– Philosophical Systems:
To the Epicureans, the quality of pleasure to be derived from an act was the essential measure of its
goodness. The Stoics, like the Puritans and many contemporary Americans, advocated a disciplined,
hardworking, thrifty lifestyle. These philosophies and others, like those cited earlier, have been
instrumental in our society's moral development.
4– Cultural Experience:
Here, the Steiner's refer to the rules, customs, and standards transmitted from generation to
generation as guidelines for appropriate conduct. Individual values are shaped in large measure by
the norms of the society.
5– The Legal System:
Laws represent a rough approximation of society's ethical standards. Thus, the law serves to
educate us about the ethical course in life. The law does not and, most would agree, should not, be
treated as a vehicle for expressing all of society's ethical preferences. Rather, the law is an
ever–changing approximation of current perceptions of

Wind Turbines Essay
"A wind turbine is a machine for converting the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy". (1)
The inventor of the first electric wind turbine was Clevelander Charles Brush, who ran his entire
Euclid Avenue mansion off of one for 20 years, which later made the cover of Scientific American in
1888. (2) Although the use of alternate energy didn't rise a great deal afterward, this event did open
the eyes for many environmentalists. Wind power is only one of our several "energy source[s]
whose 'fuel' is free and will never be exhausted" (3) with the pros and cons not completely weighed

The constructions of the turbines alone are creating an effect on these mammals because of the
frequency of noise that is emitted into the water. These frequencies disrupt mammal communication,
location and location of other species around them.
One other environmental factor regarding wind turbines, especially the wind farms, is that "erecting
and maintaining wind turbines can also necessitate clearing land: ridgeline installations often
require a fair amount of deforestation, and then there's the associated clearing for access roads,
maintenance facilities, and the like". (7) Although we are trying to help the environment by
creating a safer and cleaner source of energy, the actions of clearing our forests, and whatever
ecosystem that lived in that forest, in order to save the environment appears to be an oxymoron.
"But there are also now a great many turbines situated on farmland, where the fields around their
bases are still actively farmed". (8)
The long term effects of this issue could be devastating if precautions are not taken. Small rodents
are known to find shelter at the base of the large wind turbines, luring different bird species to wind
farms causing a higher death rate for the birds. The wind farms are also unfortunately located in the
migration

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy The time has come, we're running out of fossil fuels and we need an alternative. That is where renewable energy comes in; The best part about it is that it is renewable so it will always be available to us, and we can acquire this energy through solar, water, and wind power. There is a lot of controversy as to whether we should rely on renewable energy, because some say it is not cost effective. However renewable energy can pay for itself, is available nearly everywhere through various methods of obtaining it, provides numerous amount of jobs and economical benefits, and it will not harm our environment. One of the biggest, but not most obvious reasons for switching to renewable energy is that it will pay for itself. One of the first things people think about when they make an investment is price; Sure acquiring renewable energy such as solar power right now may not be cheap but as a matter of fact during the duration of 2009–2014 the price of solar power dropped 78%(Gardiner)! The best part about solar power is that it is available to nearly anyone. Likewise wind power has also dropped 58% in price and now is among one of the cheapest sources of power in the United States (Gardiner) even though wind power is not available to the ordinary citizen. Switching to renewable energy will save a boat load of money as the article "Committing to Renewable Energy Will Pay Off" states "Investing in a renewable energy as the source for electricity in our future will save 10 times the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Right to Privacy Essay Privacy Laws – For Privacy laws are established because people have a right to privacy, to an extent. For many years people have argued over their privacy rights, from online videos, to people spying on them, even people stealing internet. People think that they should be completely secluded from others seeing what they're doing, but in all reality, there's no stopping people from seeing what you are doing. With more people using the flaws within our media and lives, we as a society must come to accept the fact that people are watching us. With new technology coming out, people have a chance to abuse their flaws. Browsers should make it to where hackers are unable to look at their personal material. (U.S. Department of Education) Because of FERPA, The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, parents are able to monitor their student/children progress in school. If a student were to lie about a grade, the parents have several ways to find out if they were lying. First of all, for Alvarado, we have Skyward, a way for parents and students to check grades, and with FERPA, they can also get the records themselves. "Protecting Children's Privacy Online – The law sets out specific guidelines about the online collection of personal information from children under 13." (The U.S. Small Business Administration) With more creepers and people looking for an easy target, it's so easy for them to get your information. With this law protecting thirteen year olds and younger, it's harder for them to get to them. My opinion though, is that they should raise the age, teenagers are still young, and they can do some reckless things either over the web, or in real life. The government is starting to take action in protecting us, but we need to learn to accept it. Yes, change is difficult to get use to or agree with, but change is good. • 3. The Importance of Citation in Academic Writing The Importance of Citing in Academic Writing Many students today fail to understand the importance of citing sources when they write academic papers. Furthermore, some only cite sources because they are concerned about the grade that they are going to get if their paper is not complete. Plagiarism has become a common practice as individuals prefer to steal intellectual information from others. The ability to create is one of humanity's most important talents and it is wrong for someone to rob an individual of his or her right to put across his or her creativity. Most people understand the unfairness of committing plagiarism when their ideas are stolen and used without their consent and with the person who committed this immorality expressing no interest in referencing them. Academic writing encompasses a complex set of concepts and a person who wants to do it needs to get actively engaged in writing a document is likely to be reviewed by a group of scholars familiar with the subject under discussion. A citation is basically "a signpost and an acknowledgement" (Hunter). The fact that it is a signpost means that it provides readers with information regarding where they can find the source of the writer's inspiration. Its value as an acknowledgement relates to how the writer needs to put across his or her appreciation in regard to the sources that he or she used. In the academic world writers can only function by using sources and this is largely what keeps this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. In his article "Does Your Language Shape How You Think?" the author Guy Deutscher discusses how the acquisition of one's mother tongue shapes one's view of the world. The article was published in The New York Times in August 2010. The author's major paradigm is that every language one learns influences one's mind and feelings in a different way. Deutscher explains that depending on one's mother tongue, objects can be considered masculine or feminine, which results in the speaker feeling differently about them. The author believes that different languages do indeed make one speak about space in different ways as well; although he claims people do not have entirely different views of it. Deutscher then explains that experiments have shown that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Prison Overcrowding Essay In the 1970s and 1980s, a massive amount of inmates began fillin up the United States prison systems. This huge rate of growth in this short amount of time, has greatly contributed to the prison overcrowding that the United States faces today. In fact, the prisons are still filled to the seams. This enormous flood of inmates has made it practically impossible for prison officials to keep up with their facilities and supervise their inmates. One of the main reasons why many prisons have become overcrowded is because of states' harsh criminal laws and parole practices (Cohen). "One in every 100 American adults is behind bars, the highest incarceration rate in the world" (Cohen). The amount of inmates in corrections systems, throughout the...show more content... One major problem of prison overcrowding is the effect it has on prison organizational stability. The more prisoners and people put in jail have made it harder for prison guards and staff to monitor and control them. The entire prison system must make enormous changes in order to accommodate for the number of inmates versus the number of prison guards (O'Leary). This often results in a misclassification of offenders. Many who come through the system are classified based on the amount of space available instead of on the security level and programs that would be most suitable for them (Howard). "It is not uncommon to find inmates, classified as medium security, incarcerated in maximum security institutions, while other inmates are in medium security who were previously considered candidates for maximum security" (Howard). Misclassifying offenders often leads to "slow progress through the corrections system as well as a slow exit" (Howard). This in turn only prolongs and increases the overcrowding problem (Howard). The corrections programs should be reformed to meet the needs of the inmates rather than the inmates having to adjust to meet the requirements of the system. Offenders need to be on specific rehabilitation programs that are customized to fit their needs, such as alcohol and drug abuse programs and so forth. While the inmates have to suffer the effects of overcrowding, so do the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. CHAPTER–1 INTRODUCTION AND LITERATURE REVIEW 1.1OVERVIEW Utilisation of electrical power at distributed side have become more and more involved concerning meeting the growing energy demand. Seventy 5 percent of total world energy demand is fulfilled by the burning of fossil fuels. But higher cost of fossil fuels and increasing air pollution, global warming concerns, it necessary to seem towards renewable sources as a future energy answer. Since the past decade, there has been a colossal interest in several countries on renewable energy for power generation. The market liberalization and government's encouragement have more accelerated the renewable energy sector growth Renewable energy source (RES) integrated at distribution level is known as distributed generation (DG). The utility scariest because of the high penetration level of intermittent renewable energy source in distribution systems as it may pose a threat to network in terms of stability, voltage regulation and power–quality (PQ) issues. Therefore, the decigram systems are required to strict technical and regulatory frameworks to conform safe, reliable and efficient operation of overall network. With the advancement in power electronics converter and digital control technology, the systems can now be actively controlled to enhance the system operation with improved PQ at PCC. • 8. Gender and Sexuality Essay Males and females are classed differently from the moment they are pronounced boy or girl. Gender determines the differences in power and control in which men and women have over the socioeconomic determinants of their health, lives and status in their community. Our society moulds how men and women should and should not behave and can be observed in all parts of our society. As a result of these Gender stereotypes men and women have issues which affect their health which are unique to each gender. Males for example are perceived to be greater risk takers as a whole in our society than that of females. We represent risk taking behavior with masculinity and violence, high speed driving and contact sport with the male gender. (Doyle 2005)...show more content... Women in the last thirty years or so have fought for equality among the sexes in all forms. The Women?s movement have fought hard to change this socially constructed view of our society. Due to this double burden placed on working mothers there is a far greater demand on their bodies and an increasingly likelihood of illness in many forms as well as psychological trauma such as depression and anxiety due to the constant workload. Females in the past were argued as having a less likelihood of illness because they were not as abundant in the workforce thus giving them more relaxation time. When males retire around the age group of 55 to 65 many of them pass away early due to the dramatic change in lifestyle. They go from five days a week working nine or ten hour days to completely nothing and because they have become so adapted to the working week they change their habits, their lifestyle differs and they develop sickness and health problems. As health is seen as a holistic concept we also have to focus on the psychological side of health. Mental illnesses affect around one in every three people and an individual?s gender is a critical determinant of mental health and mental illness. Women are much more likely to develop mental health problems then males do. The most predominant of these disorders are depression, anxiety and somatic complaints. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The affects of this idea revolutionary, results ofsolar power could lead to a more modernized society and efficient economy. Solar energy is a term that usually means the direct use of sunlight to produce heat or electric power. Solar technology is improving rapidly. Scientists have developed a way to convert the energy absorbed by the sun in the daylight to a rechargeable battery when night falls. So when the sun shines the next morning, it is a recycling process. However, even though solar power has its advantages, some scientists argue it's Disadvantages. The sun's energy is plentiful, but it is thinly distributed over a large area and must be collected and concentrated to produce usable power. As a result, solar energy is a more expensive power source than fossil fuels for most applications. On the other even though it may be more expensive its well worth it. • 12. Social, Biological And Cognitive Changes As children enter adolescence, cultural, biological and cognitive changes cause variation in their daily lives. Adolescents spend far less time with their parents and begin participating in both structured and unstructured peer activities.Without the direct presence of their parents or other adults, their peer network begins to become the primary context for most socialization and activity. These social "cliques" fundamentally influence adolescent life and development.Perhaps because they are perceived as an external threat to parental authority, undesired changes in adolescent behavior are often attributed to cliques. In these situations, cliques are described as "social grouping[s] of persons that exhibit a great deal of peer pressure on its members and is exclusive, based on superficial differences".Researchers, however, question these assumptions: based on empiric data from both experiments and ethnographies they suggest that clique structure characterizes many friendship networks within any given school, not all of which negatively affect adolescents.A more neutral and scientific definition of clique is "a grouping of persons who interact with each other more regularly and intensely than others in the same setting." Although cliques can range from two to twelve people, cliques typically consist of five or six people who are homogeneous in age, gender, race, social status, and socioeconomic background.More subtle determinant of group membership, such as shared Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in 2013, Americans generated about 254 million tons of trash and recycled about 87 million tons, equivalent to a 34.3 % recycling rate. On average, we recycled and composted 1.51 pounds of our individual waste generation of 4.40 pounds per person per day (EPA). And even so some might argue the cost effectiveness ofrecycling I find this EPA statistic along with the obvious alleviation on global warming and all its effects reason enough to take a closer look at our recycling mentality. Waste prevention is possible in every life situation: in the home, at the office or at work, at school or on the road yet we are reluctant to engage in recycling and therefore waste reduction. We need to avoid waste instead of causing it. Taken the ecological benefit of recycling through the reduction of air– and water pollution and also greenhouse gas emissions, some might ask if recycling is economically worthwhile. Building new, more effective, recycling plants to process reusable products and upgrading existing waste processing facilities involves high initial costs and creates more pollution. John Tierney, a journalist for the New York Times, points out in his article "The Reign of Recycling," recycling is not always cost effective and is an increasingly expensive way to produce materials and therefore the environmental benefits diminish. He also points out that the net cost of recycling by far outweighs the costs of simply dumping the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Personal Reflection On Engineering CVEN 4701 Reflection Yuyang Zhang z5101032 3.1 c Engineering involves in designing and constructing buildings and bridges, which are related closely to people's life. Being a professional engineer and knowing the accountabilities are important to contribute to the safety. Engineering is used to make people's life more convenient, so when engineers carry out their responsibilities, people's life and wealth safety can be protected. Besides that, a design should meet the safety regulations to keep the normal operation and protect the workers. Engineers should take the responsibility to eliminate the damage to the environment. In this semester, we did an energy assignment, in which we achieved a renewable fraction of 77.7% and the emission was reduced. That means the emission to global warming is little, public health and environmental quality are improved and the dependence on fossil fuels is reduced. Besides that design itself, the contribution to the whole environment can also fulfil the engineer's social value. 3.1 d In the first workshop of this class, an engineering world with strict regulations was presented by the professor to me. All engineering designs and researches are the fruit of the engineers' intellect and hard work. Respecting the intellectual property rights is the principle to everyone in engineering field. All the essays that I have been referred to have clear references of citation. I have learned from the essays that it is necessary to state the source Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. The Importance Of Communication In Daily Life Communication in your daily life can cause problems eventually. Planning a trip for your family takes time and effort to present the idea. Communicating to certain family members could be difficult in explaining the plan. Take the time to brain storm on piece of paper to list important matters before speaking. Evaluate alone and practice speaking and listen to how it sounds. Decide on different places and prices for the trip for starters also things they might need on the trip and what business they should take care at home. The list should consists of reservations for hotels, emergency contact numbers, suitcases for personal items, bills are taking care of, checking the forecast, form of transportation, money, school absence report immediately and more. Using visual aids such as charts, graphs and written materials is great information for communication. A problem occurred when one or two out the group refuse to cooperate and the presentation for the trip is repeatedly several times (Ridley, 2008) Communicating with a group of people such as your family is easier than the workplace. My family listens well, but the problem settles in when money is involved. The idea of a family vacation has their self–esteem high, but fear is the problem when asking them to participate. Communicating to my family is compare to speaking to a brick wall. Presenting myself about the trip would obviously make me feel foolish for the way the family stares at my face. While the first part is very identical for two groups, the math problems are more difficult for the older group. Although the CPM assessment is commonly used in medicine and psychology, it is known as the best objective measure of general intelligence of an individual. The questions on the big personality traits allow me to measure non–cognitive abilities of an individual. As an individual dealing with anxiety, a person may explore their past situations to get to the bottom on their anxiety. Do they ever stop to think of what the root cause of anxiety may be? The motivation of anxiety can fluctuate depending on what the root cause is. Biblically speaking, the Bible has a great deal to say about anxiety and how to deal with anxiety as it arises. Anxiety can usually be found paired with another psychological disorder, such as depression or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The feelings of anxiety generally stem from having a lack of activity in the nucleus accumbens, which is found in hippocampus. The nucleus accumbens "plays a critical role in the experience of pleasure from naturally occurring reinforcers" (Reeve, 58). Although the nucleus accumbens is where your pleasure and reinforcers are found, "your brains natural anti–anxiety chemicals are endorphins" (Reeve, 59). When there is a lack of endorphins, an individual will start to feel "...jittery and tense" as well as "...suffering and are in pain, and seeing themselves go to pieces" (Reeve, 193). • 21. Wind Turbines Essay "A wind turbine is a machine for converting the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy". (1) The inventor of the first electric wind turbine was Clevelander Charles Brush, who ran his entire Euclid Avenue mansion off of one for 20 years, which later made the cover of Scientific American in 1888. (2) Although the use of alternate energy didn't rise a great deal afterward, this event did open the eyes for many environmentalists. Wind power is only one of our several "energy source[s] whose 'fuel' is free and will never be exhausted" (3) with the pros and cons not completely weighed out as to whether it will be truly beneficial or not. These frequencies disrupt mammal communication, location and location of other species around them. One other environmental factor regarding wind turbines, especially the wind farms, is that "erecting and maintaining wind turbines can also necessitate clearing land: ridgeline installations often require a fair amount of deforestation, and then there's the associated clearing for access roads, maintenance facilities, and the like". (8) The long term effects of this issue could be devastating if precautions are not taken. Small rodents are known to find shelter at the base of the large wind turbines, luring different bird species to wind farms causing a higher death rate for the birds. The wind farms are also unfortunately located in the migration Get more content on HelpWriting.net
