The Bass Compare And Contrast Sam And Sheila Mant
Characterization Essay When I was a kid I had a gap in my teeth that I hated and in many photos I
would not smile with my teeth because I did not like the way I looked. Just like many people Sam
and the narrator from The Bass, The River, Sheila Mant have something that they don't like about
themselves. Sam is more insecure than the narrator from the bass the river and sheila mant because
she cares what people think of her. Sam from before i fall is insecure about many things about
herself. "Tomorrow I will be different" (56 Oliver). She always wants to change and she always
thinks that tomorrow she will change in a big way. She wants to change overnight and have people
look at her differently from what they do. She also thinks that it is more important to care what
others think rather than what she thinks about herself. "She would think I was crazy" (89 Oliver).
She thinks if she tells people what she is thinking that they will not like her and that she is crazy for
thinking that way. She also wants people to like her and she doesn't want her friends to leave her
because she is different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
he is insecure about what she will think of him. " 'Yeah, bass. They come into the shallows at night
to chase frogs and moths and things. Big largemouths. Micropterus salmoides,' I added, showing
off".(2 wetherell) This shows that he was trying to make himself look better than what he usually is.
He was also thinking that if he could show off that she will like him more because he knew more
about fishing and that he was smart. "I think that fishing is dumb" she said making a face " 'I mean
it's boring and all definitely dumb' "(3 wetherell). He didn't tell her that he liked fishing because he
didn't want to look stupid to her. He cared more what the girl thought then what he cared about

Is The Argument Of Induction Or Truth?
There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free. Don't miss so many of
them."– Jo Walton The complex question of whether or not tomorrow morning we will see the sun
rise in the east often never enters the mind of a person separated from the study of Philosophy. The
question arises from the argument of Induction. Induction enables us to ultimately assume future
events by putting our trust in past events that we have experienced. This means the premises of an
argument support the conclusion but do not make the conclusion fact. We have all sung along to the
lyrics, 'The sun will come out tomorrow' from John Huston's Annie. But can we really hold this as
truth? In my essay I will be arguing that induction, though it ... Show more content on

We have only had experience of mortal men but that is not to say that immortal men do not exist or
will not exist in the future or even in another world. Some would argue that the only truths in the
world are mathematical truths and that everything is just a presumption. 1 plus 1 will always equal
to 2 but the sun may not rise tomorrow based on our experience of yesterday. This being said,
inductive arguments allow us to expand our thinking and give us new information while deductive
arguments just attempt to prove truths. It is without a doubt that induction provides us with learning
processes. Without induction we would not know that fires are hot and we should not touch them.
Also, we would not know that knives are sharp and we should not hold them against our skin. To
live without induction would mean that humans would not live by the method of trial and error
without the principle of learning from these errors. Therefore, its importance is crucial in the
development of our existence despite its lack of sound justification. In response to Hume's claim
that induction can only be wholly justified by deduction, Hans Reichenbach claimed that a more
pragmatic approach was needed instead. Reichenbach simply puts induction as our 'best bet' which
is satisfactory as a response. He argued that for any chance of success, induction should be used.
Failing to continue the use of induction

Great Smoky Mountains Recount
April 30: Today was the first day we spent at the world's most visited national park, The Great
Smoky Mountains. We got here at 7:00 AM. The Great Smoky Mountains are located between
North Carolina and Tennessee. According to my research that I did before we came, The Great
Smoky Mountains have many things like Black Bears, Cades Cove, lots of flowers, and many things
things to do. We haven't done anything yet but we will start everything tomorrow. We are gonna stay
for 5 days. April 31: Last night the people at the front desk were so nice and as soon as we went in
our room people gave us welcoming gifts. It was amazing. I wish we could've done more today
though. All we did today was hike and then we went to the resort. The kids went to the water park
that they have and the parents went to the place with all the other adults. The hotel we stayed at had
amazing views and it was like living in a house! The hotel and the resort were so close that we could
walk to it. We walked to the resort at night to see how it was because mom said we were gonna go
there tomorrow so we went to go check it out. Tonight the parents said we can do anything we want
so we are planning on going to the resort because it will feel cooler than it did this morning. If we
don't go to the resort then we will go check some other stuff out so we can tell our parents what we
want to do tomorrow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal Narrative: The Keystone West Lacrosse Team
Gold was close, but certain with under 1 minute left. On July 30, 2016 the Keystone West Lacrosse
team had gone 2–0–0 at went to York PA and were hoping that even with some injuries they would
still win the championship tomorrow.
The head coach of the Keystone West said, " Today we will go 3–0 because I know that we work
harder than everyone her."
On July 30th the day started and their first win was an 11–0 win ,but the dissection on our team
minds was not the win. On how I stood up a kid when he tried to hit me after the whistle.
The NA goalie infantilely said," That he was super happy when I stood that kid up and he wanted
me to do it again in the next game."

The third game, that was previously postponed, was a tie at 8–8 with a team from Bucks County.
Then it was a waiting game to see who and when we would play. We ended up playing a team called
Big Sky and won that game. Then right after that we played York A team for the gold medal; which
no keystone west team had ever won. The game was a long one if you were playing even though the
game was only 40 minutes it felt like 2 hours. The game was 6–2 at the half and the keystone West
team were winning. With under 1 minute left in the game the score was West 12 a York A had 8.
York ran the ball down the field and then throw it out of bounds with under 30 seconds. West got the
send it call and that is what they did and ended that throw with a goal. That ended the game and all
but one of the West team ran to their goalie but I did not. I was in so much shock from how I went
from one position to another in under a year and was one of the best in Western PA and how much
we practice we had to let this moment happen. I am now and was and will always be proud of what

The Purpose Of A Good Filing System
The purpose of a filing system is to reduce stress by being organized. Handling stress is not good for
our being, so a good filing system is required. Life can become complicated when we let decisions
and actions stack up without taking the time to thoughtfully process as to their short and long term
effects on our life. Opportunities come at us like raindrops in a thunderstorm, pelting our brains until
we go into brain overload. Our thinking becomes fuzzy, muddled, and confused; therefore, a good
filing system is essential. Like most people, we have our filing system to deal with our thoughts.
Does your study desk reflect your thinking system? Are there papers stacked all over your desk and
you are the only person who sort of knows where everything is located (when you look for it)? Does
it take ten minutes to find what should be found in 30 seconds? Let us look at the filing system and
see how it affects our life. 1. "Yes" is a mandatory file for our thoughts. It is used in conjunction
with the "No" file. This file allows thoughts to go into our memory and attitudes, emotions, and
actions are the result. Use it with the utmost caution since it will definitely affect our very being.
The file can bring about resolution, which is very healthy to our mental state, providing the thoughts
are positive, biblical, and uplifting in nature or they will be disastrous if they are negative. This can
sometimes lead to the rhetorical question, "How did I get myself into this mess?" 2.

Martin Luther King Vs Minority Differences
Actions of an assembly are often inspired by the beliefs and values of a significant individual. As an
individual's ideas are spread to common knowledge, many commence to voice opinions, often in
support, of his or her values. As followers of the ideas increase, actions of the majority opinion
become a common, everyday occurrence, and the beliefs of those against the majority start to
diminish. As time passes, this one belief from a significant individual shapes the mindset of large
populations, altering contemporary societies into those that only push for the one action of the
majority, no matter how unearthly. However, when certain individuals that have the minority's
opinion make known the unethical actions of the majority, true change starts to occur. The lives of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Elie Wiesel affected the speeches that they wrote as both of their
experiences, reflected in each speech, brought acknowledgement to the unjustified actions of their
respective contemporary societies and therefore brought about change in both the actions and values
of individuals in each society.
The early 1960s brought about multiple debates on the issue of equality among citizens of color and
status. The American white man believed that his race was superior to all others within his nation;
therefore, he believed, similar to the majority of the white race, that he had greater opportunity than
those of color in all aspects of society. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a man that

A Short Story: My First Vietnam War

born right here in america and can't even walk down the street without being stared at or called a

I can't even go into certain restaurants because of the fears of others.Even my own friends crack
jokes about my race I take no offense to them but it makes you think is that really how america
views me. Just the other day my buddy Darren and I had a conversation:
"Hey James",he greeted,
"Hey Darren", I responded
"You hear about the shootings in Georgia", he presumed
"Yeah stuff is messed up man", I responded
"I heard it was Muslims you need to get your cousins under control"; he chuckled I laughed as well
but didn't really understand why it was funny. I guess that is the reason why I enrolled to prove not
only to my friends and america but to myself that not all muslims are bad. The night I was sent off

Macbeth Paranoia Analysis
Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, details the effects of excessive ambition coupled with paranoia
through the tale of a heroic fighter, who forced his way to the position of king. As Macbeth and
Lady Macbeth discovered, ambition, when fueled by greed for power, leads to negative
consequences.
After Macbeth murdered King Duncan, paranoia quietly started creeping in. He thought that he
"heard a voice cry, 'Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep" – the innocent sleep" directly
following the deed(2:2:53–56). As his paranoia increases, Macbeth convinces himself that being
King "is nothing, but to be safely thus. . .[His] fears in Banquo stick deep, and in his royalty of
nature reigns that which would be feared;" subsequently, Macbeth has revealed ... Show more

dust death. Out, out, brief candle! (5:5:17–25). Macduff beheads Macbeth, proclaiming to Malcolm
"Hail, king! For so thou art. Behold where stands the usurper's cursed head. The time is free"
(5:8:54–55). All of these negative consequences occurred solely because Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth wanted to be more powerful. They learned that ambition fueled by greed ultimately leads

Reflective Speech
Libby Streeton– Irrational thinking is common in a nuclear war, right? Why did I expect Fin and
Max would change their minds? I begged them through a river of tears to stay with me. But that was
not enough. I can't adjust to reality, watching their lanky bodies fade in the distance keeps reminding
me of the fate of their lives. Max is only 12, too young to witness violent and unforgiving deaths of
innocent citizens. What happens if I never see them again? I assumed I was doing right but
apparently, what I think is right is wrong. I am only just beginning to realise what has just happened.
They are gone. My two young boys are gone forever. I have hugged them for the final time. They
risked their lives to find me. But I couldn't do the same. I'm stuck in a half broken down office
building in the middle of a deserted city and I can't leave because too many people rely on me to
stay here and help. Inhale. Exhale. I keep thinking about what my life is like now, and right now I
feel it is hopeless. I am isolated, sitting in a patrolled corner of an office, trying to deal with this
absolute shit of a situation. I'm a failure of a mother to let my children out of my sight and endanger
themselves by going out onto the deserted streets to find a group of people that may or may not even
exist. I had the chance to keep them here, but I lost it just as easily. Today is not the day to judge
Greg on his decisions as a parent, but what sort of a father deserts his sons and runs after a girl he's
just met? Bad parenting if you ask me... I wish I knew sooner that he just walked out on them, I'm
not one to judge and I'm certainly not the ideal mother but that was immature. If only Greg and I
were on better terms, I mean both of us being the adults were childish to let down the boys, I'm
disappointed in the both of us. I know in my heart, I couldn't stay with a man I no longer loved,
neither could I cheat on him. Leaving him suited me but broke max and fin. But I didn't care, did I?
I mean as long as they have money life is complete. Why Libby, why? I could have and should have
made an effort to visit. I'm a hypocritical person, to blame all the reasons why the boys are now
abounded in a shopping centre on Greg and his childish

Welcome class. Before we start today I want to let you know what we will be doing today and
tomorrow because they tie together. So today I will pass out a primary and secondary source that
you guys will be taking notes on with a bucketing worksheet. The primary source discusses why
people were against the Constitution while the secondary source explains why people wanted a new
Constitution. After you finish taking these notes and we go over them you will then move on to
research on your own the debates of how states would be represented and how slaves would be
represented in the new Constitution. That is what we will be working on today. Tomorrow we will
have our own debates regarding all three of these topics. I will give each half of the room a stance

how states wanted to be represented in the new Constitution and how states wanted slaves to be
represented. Each debate has two sides so make sure to get both sides of the argument. 3. Lastly,
students must tell me their level of confidence about the debate tomorrow through the fist of five.
Based on the level of confidence I might give them more time before the debates to research. Before
you guys leave I want to see how confident you are about the debate tomorrow. So we are going to

me one. If you are somewhere in between then show me

America 's Greatest Weapon Against The Nazi Regime
When asked about his country's greatest weapon against the Nazi regime, Winston Churchill didn't
hesitate to respond. He said, "It was what England's greatest threat had always been... hope."
What Churchill knew, and what all great leaders know, is the most empowering thought a person can
receive hope. It is unquestionably the strongest motivational force in all the earth. When hope fills
our heart, we dream of a better future. We begin to see possibilities that otherwise would have not
been seen. It makes the seemingly impossible become possible. The bravery of all exploration
derives from the probability of more. One will never step out into uncharted territory without the

The presenters shared numerous studies and research that had been conducted on the types of
thinking that plagues many who are trapped in its claws. Poverty runs off the assumption that there
are not enough financial resources available. Therefore, the hope of a better future becomes
impossible in the thinking of the impoverished. If someone does not believe there is a possibility of
achievement, they will never even try to attain it. As we were discussing these challenges, I began to
realize how poverty is not just isolated to finances, it is a mindset that affects every area of life.
Poverty is not a number, and it is a belief.
Many organizations have hit a growth barrier because their employees are operating in poverty. Not
because of their financial status or compensation, but because they have lost hope in themselves.
They are working from a place of lifeless duty rather than hopeful pursuit. George Washington
Carver said, "Where there is no vision, there is no hope." An organization can have all the money in
the world yet still be filled with employees who are impoverished in their thinking. We as leaders
must communicate the potential of greater impact, greater opportunities, and more magnificent
results to progress our teams forward. People have first to believe there is a possibility for a better
future to activate their motivation to work toward it. When one believes something is possible, the
mind goes to work figuring out every way to make

Kurt Vonnegut 's Personal Experiences
THESIS STATEMENT
Kurt Vonnegut's personal experiences of World War II and the firebombing of Dresden were
important factors in determining his writing style and the political and philosophical views that it
conveyed. Throughout his works, the overarching message that Vonnegut delivers is the need for
love and compassion in a world where humans are helpless against an indifferent fate.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
Through critical analysis, historical research, and textual evidence, a study on Kurt Vonnegut's
background will be conducted in order to display the effects that the era in which he lived had on his
writing.
INTRODUCTION
A baby boy, named after his father, was introduced into the world on November 11, 1922; this day,
better known as Armistice Day, was set aside to celebrate the peace treaty signed after World War II.
The United States of America was celebrating a time of hopeful peace and prosperity. But, a world
away, a young German soldier named Adolf Hitler was rising to power and gaining the support of
the Bavarian Fascist Party. Ironically, this child who was born in a time of optimistic abundance
would grow up amidst a horrible economic depression and would become a man as his country was
preparing to enter a brutal war.
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was born to his father and Edith Lieber in Indianapolis, Indiana on Armistice Day.
At home, his parents struggled to pay every bill but still ensured that their children became
educated. After graduating from Cornell University with

Personal Statement: A Thank You Letter
Hello Octaviano, Thank you for submitting your work to be read by others. I know how challenging
it is to allow someone to comment on a piece of writing you've worked hard on. I saw that you are
looking for feedback on word choice and sentence structure. I will comment only on those two
things, per your request. Your letter starts out by saying that you hope your sister–in–law's family is
happy and well–cared for. This is a great beginning, and shows that you are interested in their well–
being. You also include an update on what is going on in your life, focusing on the positive aspects.
Doing both of those things before you ask for a favor is not only a smart way to send a request for

strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Laughter is a fascinating phenomena that
works like a medicine. Although most drugs effect everyone differently, laughter is always the same.
It exercises your entire body causing you to feel relaxed and pain free. The fact that laughter is good
for one's health should be quite evident. So why not laugh? When one laughs, it is like taking a drug,
yet there is no such thing as an overdose or, laughter toxicity, as Kataria says. Maybe we can now
say A laugh a day keeps the doctor away.

Hebrews 4:16New International Version (NIV) 16 Let us then approach God's throne of grace with
confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. When is
God's grace available for us to call on? In our time of need, instead of us worrying unnecessarily, we
need to be approaching God's throne for His assistance. The what, ifs of life are hard for all of us to
handle. So maybe we should follow the advice found in Matthew 6:34. Matthew 6:34 34 Therefore
do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of

How To Write A Letter From A Patriot
June 29, 1863 Dear Emily, Please forgive my messy handwriting, for all of the lights are packed
away. Tomorrow we are leaving Cashtown and marching into Gettysburg to find supplies. Colonel
Smith is still being tended to by the surgeons. I'm secretly hoping for him not to get better. I'm
excited, to fight for my country, for what's right, and for my people and to prove I'm an honorable
leader. This could, hopefully, improve my rank in the army. I don't trust Smith, I feel as if he may be
a double agent. He used to ask me to deliver notes to strangers, or cover for him when he had to
meet someone. One time, I went into his tent and three of his slaves were sitting in there, reading
through the battle plans and eating our food. Some of the soldiers didn't get anything to eat that
night and here these disgusting blacks were eating our food! How dare they! So I punished them like
any true Confederate man would do. Then I went to talk to Smith about this, and he kept trying to
change the subject. Major Green just called. I have to speak to go speak to Smith. I'll write you
again tomorrow dear. Yours, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we got to Gettysburg this morning with all the men, a few of our scouts saw a bunch of Union
cavalry, south of town, coming quickly. I bet we could have beat them right then and there, but
Smith said to not initiate battle. We went back to Cashtown to face General A.P. Hill. Hill then sent
his best men to go back and investigate. His best men included me, but none of my superiors.
How embarrassing! We came back to let everyone know that there definitely would be a battle
tomorrow. I am ecstatic that he chose me to go over my superiors. I'm assuming that there will be a
battle tomorrow. More good news is that Smith is to weak to fight tomorrow! I will have the
opportunity to lead my men to a victory at the battle of Gettysburg. I have to go consult with other
generals about tomorrow's plans. I'll write you again tomorrow

The Misrepresentation Of Minorities For The Mainstream...
The misrepresentation of minorities for the sake of the mainstream film industry has existed since
the foundation of the Hollywood industry. While the industry favors the white male as the ideal for
audiences to cheer towards victory, those who once played both racist and stereotypical characters
are now taking the opportunity to speak out against the mainstream ideal. Out of the several
minority groups working to change the definition of mainstream media to favor minorities, ... the
recent expansion of Asian–American roles on television has paradoxically ushered in a new
generation of actors with just enough star power and job security to speak more freely about
Hollywood's larger failures(Hess). Unfortunately, the mainstream film industry seems to
continually work against the sense of positioning minorities into leading roles, or much of any role
in the big blockbusters Hollywood, and other mainstream productions, bank upon each year. The
Asian male has long been the victim of racism, misrepresentation, and emasculation by the
mainstream, and it continues to exist. Although, films are coming out, mostly from independent
filmmakers, that counteract the racist Hollywood foundation, even if it's in a very small degree. One
film to have been held up as an opposition to this victimization of the mainstream film industry,

Tupac spent making rap professionally. Thirteen is the number of years Tupac spent writing poetry

To help understand Tupac's poem, you must grasp yourself around the image of a very young boy,
who has no father, grew up in the rougher parts of New York, and was barely supported by his
mother.
This poem is a perfect example of a closed form traditional sonnet. The rhyming scheme is in the
form of ABCB, the best example of that is if you were to look at the first stanza, the last word in line
two and four rhyme. This type of rhyming scheme is very basic, but it really helps emphasize his
thoughts and bring out an emotional, aggressive tone.
Imagery is one of the many things that are used substantially during this poem to help express
Tupac's emotions and thoughts. For example, lines such as; Tonight is filled with rage, violence in
the air give off an image of the area Tupac grew up in, during nightfall. Another example of
imagery; and tomorrow I wake with second wind. This line helps express Tupac's feelings about
the changes he wants to encounter in order to fulfill his dreams. Tupac uses today, tonight, and
2Morrow as symbols of the times when he believes certain things happen. The 2 in 2morrow
can symbolize the way his mother helped Tupac achieve his lifelong dream.
Tupac uses repetition, alliteration, consonance, and certain forms of archetypes to express his
emotional thoughts. This 2 can be viewed as a form of alliteration; it is constantly being repeated

War Themes
John Marsden's novel 'Tomorrow When the War Began' and the 2013 film directed by Brian Percival
'The Book Thief' shares a variety of similar themes that are constantly portrayed throughout these
texts. The 3 main themes that are shared between the novel and film were the theme of war,
friendship, and hope. War is a centered theme that causes characters to develop and mature while the
theme of friendship brought them together, strengthening their bonds and finally, the theme of hope
represented the optimistic ideas of the characters, through literary techniques in the novel and
cinematic effects in the film, the texts successfully exhibited the protagonists overcoming their
ordeals during horrific circumstances. The theme of war is a significant part of both the novel
'Tomorrow When the War Began' and the film 'The Book Thief'. Although these texts are different in
many ways, they both focus on the similar theme of war, this is shown throughout the course of the
novel and the film. In John Marsden's novel 'Tomorrow When the War Began', 7 teenagers are faced
with the harsh reality of war when they return home from their camping trip. An unknown country
invades Australia declaring war, but they try to avoid casualty by holding the town council hostage.
The soldiers in the book referred to the war as a 'clean invasion' and they proved that it was a clean
invasion by treating people well, for example, patients in the hospital were looked after even though
they were Australians.

Oodgeroo
To our Fathers Fathers, the pain, the sorrow; To our Children's Children, the glad tomorrow.. Hi,
I'm Zane Goodridge and today I'll be analysing the song of hope and revealing the messages within
it . This poem, by Aboriginal poet Kath Walker, also known as Oodgeroo, is about how she believes
that things are becoming better, and for this trend to continue, Aborigines and Australians alike need
to trust each other. In order for you to understand the rest of the speech, I will now present a reading
of the poem. Look up, my people; the Dawn is breaking; The world is waking; To a bright new day.
When none defame us; Nor restriction tame us; Nor colour shame us; nor sneer dismay. Now brood

After continued reading of the poem it became clear that Kath had a much more powerful message
hidden behind the explicit meaning of the poem. She feels that the past is yet to be properly
amended and that it needs to be before the Aborigines and European descendants can move forward.
This is reflected especially in Stanzas 2 and 3. In stanza 2 the lines Now brood no more and The
hope assigned you shows that there was clearly some kind of destiny that was less then looked
forward to in each aboriginal individual. In Stanza 3, there is a much larger presence of this
message. With lines like So long we waited; bound and frustrated; till hate be hated; and caste
deposed. Provides an insight into Aboriginies having to wait in pain until something was done
about their lives and opportunities. Though it seems that Oodgeroo does believe that things are
getting better, she acknowledges that the aboriginal people were not always the best treated and that
she believes that things should be formally amended before things can become better for all,
regardless of

Essay On Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Depending on who is asked, embryonic stem cell research, one of the most controversial topics of
all time, can be viewed as either a positive or negative step to a better tomorrow. A great quantity of
people believe that using the embryos of unborn babies can prevent the next

Therefore, it should be strongly encouraged to continue embryonic stem cell research because it will

Of course, being certain isn't always going to get you the results you want. If you are certain that
you are going to marry a superstar, for instance, and they are married and twenty years older than
you, then the chances of that happening are small. But, when it comes to improving your life,
grabbing hold of that conviction that you could achieve what you want to achieve is the key to
helping you get off your butt and doing things that help you move closer to it.
3. Trying To Believe Something You Don't?
When you go beyond the threshold that somebody believes, it's over, 'cause they check out and go

Tony Robbins was talking about this in a sports context, but it works for anything. If someone tells

You will find a way to get out of having to even try to perform 50% better. If you don't believe it,

pioneers in this era, he felt strongly about racial segregation, (Ilieva and Lennox 1) or racial
inequality and used his writings to voice his opinion on the issue. In I, Too, Hughes states that he is

Jim Crow laws were in effect to keep African Americans from receiving equal treatment as White

changing and that they have the ability to adapt to it and not just hide away from it.

A journey of faith is a combination of believing, doing, and trusting. These three distinct dimensions
of doctrines, morals, and worship make faithing, something that the teenage Crood did throughout
the movie, possible. From the beginning, Eep knew that something more wonderful existed beyond
their cave walls, which is the very reason why she hated staying inside and letting herself be
contented with the darkness of what she sarcastically called home sweet home. Even if she has not
seen it, she was confident that it was as beautiful as the sun that she has been looking forward to see
each passing day. This, then, translated into action, as she did what the rest of her family thought
was bad: go out of the cave on her own. She did this not to betray or disregard the safety of the
people whom she left there, but instead, to follow the source of her fascination and take hold of the
light she wanted to capture. When she met Guy and eventually trusted him in the process, her
fascination grew into desire to plunge into the new world, fueled by her belief that she and her
family would be free from the cave and have a greater future ahead of

Employees are also experiencing low task control. Low task control is a stressor and increases with
the burden of responsibility that the employees must carry with outcomes that they have little
control over. OB Issue: Lack of Communication Evidence: All of the employees at Skills for
Tomorrow are not communicating with each another. Some of the employees are experiencing high
levels of communication barriers called noise in their attempts to communicate with one another. A
few employees have language barriers with Yu and do not share a similar codebook meaning they do
not share the same language. The employees are reluctant or having difficulty in communicating
their issues to the executive director. In holding back it additionally is not allowing them to
effectively re–organize work in light of the budget cuts and costs to the organization. Ted also did
not communicate clearly job role perceptions for his employees. Another communication barrier that
is evident with Ted is the imperfect perceptual process of his sending and receiving skills. Industry
Analysis KSF In the government–sponsored organization of Skills for Tomorrow it is important that
employees and management realize that effective team management is the key to successful
operations. Having a more effective team in place will create a more successful organization by

The Bass Compare And Contrast Sam And Sheila Mant

  • 1. The Bass Compare And Contrast Sam And Sheila Mant Characterization Essay When I was a kid I had a gap in my teeth that I hated and in many photos I would not smile with my teeth because I did not like the way I looked. Just like many people Sam and the narrator from The Bass, The River, Sheila Mant have something that they don't like about themselves. Sam is more insecure than the narrator from the bass the river and sheila mant because she cares what people think of her. Sam from before i fall is insecure about many things about herself. "Tomorrow I will be different" (56 Oliver). She always wants to change and she always thinks that tomorrow she will change in a big way. She wants to change overnight and have people look at her differently from what they do. She also thinks that it is more important to care what others think rather than what she thinks about herself. "She would think I was crazy" (89 Oliver). She thinks if she tells people what she is thinking that they will not like her and that she is crazy for thinking that way. She also wants people to like her and she doesn't want her friends to leave her because she is different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... he is insecure about what she will think of him. He was also thinking that if he could show off that she will like him more because he knew more about fishing and that he was smart. "I think that fishing is dumb" she said making a face " 'I mean it's boring and all definitely dumb' "(3 wetherell). • 3. Is The Argument Of Induction Or Truth? There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free. Don't miss so many of them."– Jo Walton The complex question of whether or not tomorrow morning we will see the sun rise in the east often never enters the mind of a person separated from the study of Philosophy. The question arises from the argument of Induction. Induction enables us to ultimately assume future events by putting our trust in past events that we have experienced. This means the premises of an argument support the conclusion but do not make the conclusion fact. We have all sung along to the lyrics, 'The sun will come out tomorrow' from John Huston's Annie. But can we really hold this as truth? In my essay I will be arguing that induction, though it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We have only had experience of mortal men but that is not to say that immortal men do not exist or will not exist in the future or even in another world. Some would argue that the only truths in the world are mathematical truths and that everything is just a presumption. 1 plus 1 will always equal to 2 but the sun may not rise tomorrow based on our experience of yesterday. This being said, inductive arguments allow us to expand our thinking and give us new information while deductive arguments just attempt to prove truths. It is without a doubt that induction provides us with learning processes. Without induction we would not know that fires are hot and we should not touch them. Also, we would not know that knives are sharp and we should not hold them against our skin. To live without induction would mean that humans would not live by the method of trial and error without the principle of learning from these errors. Therefore, its importance is crucial in the development of our existence despite its lack of sound justification. In response to Hume's claim that induction can only be wholly justified by deduction, Hans Reichenbach claimed that a more pragmatic approach was needed instead. Reichenbach simply puts induction as our 'best bet' which is satisfactory as a response. He argued that for any chance of success, induction should be used. Failing to continue the use of induction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Great Smoky Mountains are located between North Carolina and Tennessee. According to my research that I did before we came, The Great Smoky Mountains have many things like Black Bears, Cades Cove, lots of flowers, and many things things to do. We haven't done anything yet but we will start everything tomorrow. We are gonna stay for 5 days. April 31: Last night the people at the front desk were so nice and as soon as we went in our room people gave us welcoming gifts. It was amazing. I wish we could've done more today though. All we did today was hike and then we went to the resort. The kids went to the water park that they have and the parents went to the place with all the other adults. The hotel we stayed at had amazing views and it was like living in a house! The hotel and the resort were so close that we could walk to it. We walked to the resort at night to see how it was because mom said we were gonna go there tomorrow so we went to go check it out. Tonight the parents said we can do anything we want so we are planning on going to the resort because it will feel cooler than it did this morning. On July 30, 2016 the Keystone West Lacrosse team had gone 2–0–0 at went to York PA and were hoping that even with some injuries they would still win the championship tomorrow. The head coach of the Keystone West said, " Today we will go 3–0 because I know that we work harder than everyone her." • 6. The Purpose Of A Good Filing System The purpose of a filing system is to reduce stress by being organized. Handling stress is not good for our being, so a good filing system is required. Life can become complicated when we let decisions and actions stack up without taking the time to thoughtfully process as to their short and long term effects on our life. Opportunities come at us like raindrops in a thunderstorm, pelting our brains until we go into brain overload. Our thinking becomes fuzzy, muddled, and confused; therefore, a good filing system is essential. Like most people, we have our filing system to deal with our thoughts. Does your study desk reflect your thinking system? Are there papers stacked all over your desk and you are the only person who sort of knows where everything is located (when you look for it)? Does it take ten minutes to find what should be found in 30 seconds? Let us look at the filing system and see how it affects our life. 1. "Yes" is a mandatory file for our thoughts. It is used in conjunction with the "No" file. This file allows thoughts to go into our memory and attitudes, emotions, and actions are the result. Use it with the utmost caution since it will definitely affect our very being. The file can bring about resolution, which is very healthy to our mental state, providing the thoughts are positive, biblical, and uplifting in nature or they will be disastrous if they are negative. This can sometimes lead to the rhetorical question, "How did I get myself into this mess?" 2. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Martin Luther King Vs Minority Differences Actions of an assembly are often inspired by the beliefs and values of a significant individual. As an individual's ideas are spread to common knowledge, many commence to voice opinions, often in support, of his or her values. As followers of the ideas increase, actions of the majority opinion become a common, everyday occurrence, and the beliefs of those against the majority start to diminish. As time passes, this one belief from a significant individual shapes the mindset of large populations, altering contemporary societies into those that only push for the one action of the majority, no matter how unearthly. However, when certain individuals that have the minority's opinion make known the unethical actions of the majority, true change starts to occur. The lives of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Elie Wiesel affected the speeches that they wrote as both of their experiences, reflected in each speech, brought acknowledgement to the unjustified actions of their respective contemporary societies and therefore brought about change in both the actions and values of individuals in each society. The early 1960s brought about multiple debates on the issue of equality among citizens of color and status. The American white man believed that his race was superior to all others within his nation; therefore, he believed, similar to the majority of the white race, that he had greater opportunity than those of color in all aspects of society. As Macbeth and Lady Macbeth discovered, ambition, when fueled by greed for power, leads to negative consequences. After Macbeth murdered King Duncan, paranoia quietly started creeping in. He thought that he "heard a voice cry, 'Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep" – the innocent sleep" directly following the deed(2:2:53–56). As his paranoia increases, Macbeth convinces himself that being King "is nothing, but to be safely thus. . .[His] fears in Banquo stick deep, and in his royalty of nature reigns that which would be feared;" subsequently, Macbeth has revealed ... • 11. Reflective Speech Libby Streeton– Irrational thinking is common in a nuclear war, right? Why did I expect Fin and Max would change their minds? I begged them through a river of tears to stay with me. But that was not enough. I can't adjust to reality, watching their lanky bodies fade in the distance keeps reminding me of the fate of their lives. Max is only 12, too young to witness violent and unforgiving deaths of innocent citizens. What happens if I never see them again? I assumed I was doing right but apparently, what I think is right is wrong. I am only just beginning to realise what has just happened. They are gone. My two young boys are gone forever. I have hugged them for the final time. They risked their lives to find me. But I couldn't do the same. I'm stuck in a half broken down office building in the middle of a deserted city and I can't leave because too many people rely on me to stay here and help. Inhale. Exhale. I keep thinking about what my life is like now, and right now I feel it is hopeless. I am isolated, sitting in a patrolled corner of an office, trying to deal with this absolute shit of a situation. I'm a failure of a mother to let my children out of my sight and endanger themselves by going out onto the deserted streets to find a group of people that may or may not even exist. I had the chance to keep them here, but I lost it just as easily. Today is not the day to judge Greg on his decisions as a parent, but what sort of a father deserts his sons and runs after a girl he's just met? Bad parenting if you ask me... I wish I knew sooner that he just walked out on them, I'm not one to judge and I'm certainly not the ideal mother but that was immature. If only Greg and I were on better terms, I mean both of us being the adults were childish to let down the boys, I'm disappointed in the both of us. I know in my heart, I couldn't stay with a man I no longer loved, neither could I cheat on him. Leaving him suited me but broke max and fin. But I didn't care, did I? I mean as long as they have money life is complete. Why Libby, why? I could have and should have made an effort to visit. I'm a hypocritical person, to blame all the reasons why the boys are now abounded in a shopping centre on Greg and his childish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He said, "It was what England's greatest threat had always been... hope." What Churchill knew, and what all great leaders know, is the most empowering thought a person can receive hope. It is unquestionably the strongest motivational force in all the earth. When hope fills our heart, we dream of a better future. We begin to see possibilities that otherwise would have not been seen. The presenters shared numerous studies and research that had been conducted on the types of thinking that plagues many who are trapped in its claws. Poverty runs off the assumption that there are not enough financial resources available. Therefore, the hope of a better future becomes impossible in the thinking of the impoverished. If someone does not believe there is a possibility of achievement, they will never even try to attain it. As we were discussing these challenges, I began to realize how poverty is not just isolated to finances, it is a mindset that affects every area of life. Poverty is not a number, and it is a belief. Many organizations have hit a growth barrier because their employees are operating in poverty. Not because of their financial status or compensation, but because they have lost hope in themselves. They are working from a place of lifeless duty rather than hopeful pursuit. George Washington Carver said, "Where there is no vision, there is no hope." An organization can have all the money in the world yet still be filled with employees who are impoverished in their thinking. We as leaders must communicate the potential of greater impact, greater opportunities, and more magnificent results to progress our teams forward. Kurt Vonnegut 's Personal Experiences THESIS STATEMENT Kurt Vonnegut's personal experiences of World War II and the firebombing of Dresden were important factors in determining his writing style and the political and philosophical views that it conveyed. Throughout his works, the overarching message that Vonnegut delivers is the need for love and compassion in a world where humans are helpless against an indifferent fate. PURPOSE STATEMENT Through critical analysis, historical research, and textual evidence, a study on Kurt Vonnegut's background will be conducted in order to display the effects that the era in which he lived had on his writing. INTRODUCTION A baby boy, named after his father, was introduced into the world on November 11, 1922; this day, better known as Armistice Day, was set aside to celebrate the peace treaty signed after World War II. The United States of America was celebrating a time of hopeful peace and prosperity. But, a world away, a young German soldier named Adolf Hitler was rising to power and gaining the support of the Bavarian Fascist Party. Ironically, this child who was born in a time of optimistic abundance would grow up amidst a horrible economic depression and would become a man as his country was preparing to enter a brutal war. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was born to his father and Edith Lieber in Indianapolis, Indiana on Armistice Day. • 31. Oodgeroo To our Fathers Fathers, the pain, the sorrow; To our Children's Children, the glad tomorrow.. Hi, I'm Zane Goodridge and today I'll be analysing the song of hope and revealing the messages within it . This poem, by Aboriginal poet Kath Walker, also known as Oodgeroo, is about how she believes that things are becoming better, and for this trend to continue, Aborigines and Australians alike need to trust each other. In order for you to understand the rest of the speech, I will now present a reading of the poem. Look up, my people; the Dawn is breaking; The world is waking; To a bright new day. When none defame us; Nor restriction tame us; Nor colour shame us; nor sneer dismay. Now brood no more; on the years behind you; the hope assigned you; shall the past ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After continued reading of the poem it became clear that Kath had a much more powerful message hidden behind the explicit meaning of the poem. She feels that the past is yet to be properly amended and that it needs to be before the Aborigines and European descendants can move forward. This is reflected especially in Stanzas 2 and 3. In stanza 2 the lines Now brood no more and The hope assigned you shows that there was clearly some kind of destiny that was less then looked forward to in each aboriginal individual. In Stanza 3, there is a much larger presence of this message. With lines like So long we waited; bound and frustrated; till hate be hated; and caste deposed. Provides an insight into Aboriginies having to wait in pain until something was done about their lives and opportunities. Though it seems that Oodgeroo does believe that things are getting better, she acknowledges that the aboriginal people were not always the best treated and that she believes that things should be formally amended before things can become better for all, regardless of ... In I, Too, Hughes states that he is the darker brother (713) of America, meaning that he is a member of the African American community. At this particular time, racial inequality was a common issue for African Americans. Jim Crow laws were in effect to keep African Americans from receiving equal treatment as White Americans.
