One policy could be the safeguarding policy. The safeguarding procedure helps to protect children because the setting would have a safe recruitment
method to ensure that all staff are suitable to work with children or are qualified to work with children legally. For an example, before I could start
my placement and working with the children, I had to show my CRB check to my nursery's placement officer. CRB checks helps to safeguard children
because it would prevent anyone with a serious criminal offence or someone who could be a danger to children from working with them there for
protecting the children from being mistreated or harmed.
Another part of the safeguarding procedure that would safeguard children would be to have a designated person who has a clear and defined role and
responsibility in regards to child protection. Having a designated person would help safeguard children because they would be the person the

Working on the Mental Health Unit at Victoria Hospital has provided me with many opportunities to stop and reflect upon the various encounters I

I also notified my clinical instructor of the situation in case he would be required to do anything in response. I then began to reflect upon how
Betty would react if she saw that I was working with her nurse or on the unit in general. Although I would not be caring for her, I realized that
seeing me could have made her experience with being admitted even more difficult than it already must have been. I also gathered that Betty
might have felt uneasy seeing someone she knew working on the unit, as she likely did not know about the concept of patient confidentiality and
how I would not be able to tell anyone that she was admitted. Reflecting after this interaction with Betty allowed me to realize that I did the right
thing refusing to care for her in order to uphold the standards of maintaining professional boundaries and providing ethical care. I was also
reassured that I did the right thing when I asked my clinical instructor to work on the other side of the unit as a result of hearing that Betty, who was
a voluntary admission, wanted to be discharged because she saw that I was working on the unit. I decided to take this approach to the situation
because I wanted to respect her privacy as well as allow her to begin working towards improving her mental health, which she may not have been able
