Charles Kinny is a very important preacher in the Seventh–Day Adventist Church. Not only was he a very Godly and humble preacher, he also was the

Florida Hospital And The United States
Florida Hospital has grown to be one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States. Impressively, Florida Hospital had a very humble
beginning and a modest growth. In 1908, a small group of Seventh Day Adventists in Orlando developed their vision of bringing health care to the
area. As part of their philanthropy, they were able to raise the funds necessary to purchase FloridaHospital's first facility near Lake Estelle. It was a
two story farmhouse that had a wraparound porch and had once served those needing treatment for tuberculosis. The facility had the capacity to care for
20 patients at any given time.
During the 1950s, Florida Hospital transformed its two story farm house to a structure that was able to care for 160 patients. They were able to

Seventh Day Adventists believe that those who are not believers will be brought back to be destroyed along with Satan by God. It is also believed that

The Millerite Movement is best known for its prediction of Christ's coming to be 1843 and later revised to October 22, 1844. The very core of this
movement was the anticipation for the soon coming of Christ. They were not the only group to look forward to this event but it became of paramount

The Importance Of Volunteering For Your Volunteer Service
There are a number of ways in which I plan to make a difference to the world, one way of offering my volunteer services to a number of organizations
that I am assisting with. As a member the AAUW of Redlands I plan to make a difference by committing to help support local women in the
community that hope to empower themselves in many aspects of their lives. Volunteeringfor me means that I am able to provide support to anyone
that needs it thus, this not only enable's me to meet new people, but make friends and form a lasting relationship with others that have the same
vision and drive as me. I believe that volunteering is just one form of how you can help make a difference to someone, but there are simpler ways to
make a difference too, such as helping your disabled neighbor with running errands and picking up a few items from the local grocery store for them.
This is what I do for my neighbor and she appreciates the help and I feel a sense of satisfaction that I have helped make life little easier for my
neighbor. We support each other when we can and it is quite a blessing to be able to help and support each other when in need. I also help at my son's
soccer team as a parent volunteer in the CAPS Program run by the Loma Linda University Church. It is a program that aims to promote healthy living
habits for children and the Goal4Health is a soccer program which enables all ages of children to take part in a sporting physical activity to promote a
healthy lifestyle.

Since White was looked upon so highly among the Adventists, she would become and remain the Adventists trusted spiritual counselor for over
seventy years until her death. No other leader of her stature would not emerge again until the mid 20th century.
In the 1930's Victor Houteff an Adventist follower, began to claim that he was the chosen prophet of theSeventh–day Adventist church. Houteff
believed that the Adventists' doctrines and teachings were inaccurate and attempted to implement his own teachings known as the "New Light."

Our Ethnography Research is how student's religious views affect their political views from a standpoint of three different religions. Since we live
in a college town, we decided the appropriate demographic should be a college student between the age of 18 and 21. I got to interview a close
friend of mine, Danny. Danny is a sophomore at Oregon State University and he describes himself as a Seventh Day Adventist, which is a smaller
branch of Christianity and as a Democrat. I got to ask him many questions that one would not usually get asked, which made the interview fairly
difficult, but I got to meet an entirely new friend.

The religion was first founded in New York in 1844 by William Miller. Miller started out being a deist, but he converted and became a baptist
preacher. Finally creating his own religion, and his followers were known as Millerites. Later in 1854, J.N. Andrews, Miller, Joseph Bates, and Ellen
G. and James Springer White created the official Seventh Day Adventist Church. The official name of Seventh Day Adventist was not officially put

I have learned a great deal about Seventh–day Adventist vegetarians from my interviews and observations. I have also been able to make associations
to some of the sociological theories that have been presented over the course of this class. The theories I will connect and explain in relation to my

They have a strong identity and feel that their way of eating and clean living is the best way. They are proud to mention the fact that they are
vegetarians and tend to look down at those who do not strive to adopt these eating habits. They boast that they are in better health than non–vegetarians.

Evangelists have not helped the situation much either. The constant question posed to those conducting health programs is, "Where are the baptisms?"
This question looks at the end of the process and doesn't recognize the multiple steps that precede baptism. Health evangelism helps prepare people
for baptism by leading them through the several steps that precede baptism. Perhaps the biggest reason we are not doing more health evangelism is
because we haven't been doing it up to this point and we really do not know how to do it. On the scientific side, health evangelism of the type

Seventh–day Adventists The Seventh–day Adventists are one of the many different branches of Christianity. The Adventists came about during the 19th

Joseph insisted that his followers observe the Jewish Sabbath– worshipping on Saturday– instead of Sunday worships. This increased the already

"The early Adventist Church emerged from a climate of religious revival in the Northeastern United States", (Lechleitner, 2013). Its founder was the
late William Miller, (Slick, n.d.). The Church was founded based on the idea of the Second Coming of Jesus, (Church, 2013). The Seventh–Day
Adventism is a Christian faith with multiple fundamental beliefs such as the Sabbath. The Sabbath is the day in which God decided to rest after
creating the Earth. For the Seventh–Day Adventists, the Sabbath is Saturday, as God rested on the Seventh–Day of the week. Ellen G. White, a woman
considered one of the founding members of the Church and a prophetess, developed another fundamental belief of how "husbands should treat their

Finally he indicates the condition of man through the journey it takes to get out of the city. In the story, Christian travels out of the city only to find
that the path is almost as treacherous as the city itself. First he falls into the Bog named the Slough of Despond. The Slough is not only very hard to
see, but the way though the bog is hidden from all travelers. In the Story, Help describes the slough as being desolate because of the fears, doubts, and
discouraging apprehensions that come to a sinner who is enlightened (Bunyan 23). John Bunyan clearly illustrates a path that is hard to follow because
leaving sin is one of the hardest things to do. Bunyan confirms that he believes that sin is hard to leave by telling us of his early hardships with
temptations. "The temptations of sin became so overwhelming" that Bunyan felt like selling his soul to the devil and after trying to say no he gave into
Satan (Abrams 2134–2137). Then later in the Journey to the Cross, Bunyan also uses the character named World to describe the many other hardships
that come along the trail. "Thou art like to meet with in the way which thou goest wearisomeness, painfulness, hunger, perils, nakedness, sword, lions,
dragons, darkness and in a word, death and what not?" (Bunyan 25). Clearly Bunyan wants to show that the condition of man is terrible because of the

The views present in both the Buddhist and Christian views are not consistent with all of its adherents. In Buddhism, there is a slight discrepancy in

Some things that i found out about Adventism, was that they are also called the seventh–day Adventism. The Adventism moved to upstate New York
in the 1840s, they started moving because of the cause and effect of the millerite movement. All this happened between the revivals of the religious,
also know as the "Second Great Awakening". During the time of religious revivals a baptist preacher "William Miller" had predicted something that
was going to happen. While he was reading Daniel 8:14, he predicted that Christ would return March 21, 1843 and march 21, 1844. Miller prediction

It was also at this time that Howell began calling himself David Koresh. From the beginning the group was an apocalyptic faith. This meant that they
believed themselves to be living in a time when Christian prophesies of final divine judgment was coming. They believed that history would begin to
spiral. History would repeat itself but it would also advance at the same time until the end. Koresh used the Book of Revelation as his evidence of the
spiral.
In 1992 a Texas newspaper began to run investigative reports that Koresh was abusing children at the compound. Koresh openly advocated polygamy
for himself and select members of the group. Koresh claimed to be married to several of the female group members. People outside of the group began
claiming that they were a cult because of the authoritarian structure with Koresh being the all–powerful leader. It is said by some survivors that Koresh
had at least a hundred and forty wives. He was also entitled to take any female at anytime. Allegations that he fathered at least a dozen children by his
numerous wives began to arise in newspaper reports. Some of the wives were as young as twelve or thirteen years old.
Also in 1992 a UPS deliveryman alerted local sheriff deputies that objects similar to grenade casings were delivered to the compound. From there the

Throughout human history, religion has been on the forefront of what defines and brings us closer together. It helps dictate how we treat ourselves
and others as well as what we can do to have an afterlife. Of the many religions that currently exist, Buddhism and Christianity are some the the most
practiced ones. These two religions have certain convictions, qualities and customs which are truly alike, but they also have qualities, convictions and

Many people have shared their stereotypes of Ellen White. Looking at her life on surface level she is viewed as being quiet strict and
conservative. The book Walking with Ellen White by George R. Knight gives detailed insight into the everyday troubles as well as the humorous
and adventures side of Ellen White. Ellen White is such an influential person in the Adventist church, but she is often times taken out of context
and misunderstood. This book takes the reader on Ellen White's journey. Telling her story and revealing who she is on a personal level. I found the
book Walking with Ellen White to truly be a game changer. My eyes were opened to just how much Ellen White is like me. She is an adventure
seeker, humorous, friend, and also timid. I have always viewed Ellen White as being in a way a step above everyone else. I think I viewed her this
way because of the visions she was given and all the books she has written. This book showed me that she has had her fair share of heart break as
well. I really like that this book shows every side of her life. So often her rules and regulations are shared, but rarely is her full character and
personality shared. I enjoyed that the book shared all of her heart break with us as well. Ellen White had endured problems in her marriage, deaths
of multiple children, and financial difficulties. Everyone can relate with her on one of these topics. Seeing how she overcame them all and stayed
strong in her faith is inspiring and motivating. After learning more about Ellen White's life one of the many lessons I have learned that I can apply
to my life is that it is okay to be timid. I have struggled with being timid my whole life. I have never liked this aspect of myself and often times
found myself getting jealous of extroverted people. Ellen White says it best when she says she was "naturally so timid and retiring that it was
painful for me to meet strangers" (45). I have often times wondered how god could use me to spread His word when I was to scared to talk to
