The Use of the Subjunctive in Spanish
The use of the subjunctive in Spanish: A brief review Clauses are groups of words which express an
idea and contain a predicate (i.e., a conjugated verb) and a subject, although of course in Spanish the
subject is often merely indicated by the verb ending. They can be divided into two categories:
independent clauses (which make sense in and of themselves) and dependent clauses (which need to
be used with an independent clause to form a complete sentece). In general, the the indicative, the
conditional, and the imperative (command forms) are used in independent clauses; some exceptions
will be given in section I below. The subjunctive mood is found primarily in dependent clauses, but
of course the other moods can occur there as well, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The verb in an adverbial clauses will be in the subjunctive if the action/state in the clause is
anticipated –that is, viewed as being in the future in comparison to the action/state represented by
the governing verb. The indicative is used in clauses where the action is viewed as habitual or
having been completed. Adverbial clauses are introduced by adverbial conjunctions, some of which
by their very nature always indicate something anticipatory and hence always take the subjunctive:
antes de que (before), para que (so that), a fin de que (so that), sin que (without), a menos que
(unless), and con tal de que (provided that). Some of the more frequent adverbial conjunctions
which may take either the indicative or the subjunctive: cuando (when), hasta que (until), después de
que (after), tan pronto como (as soon as), mientras (while). Cada domingo después que
desayunamos, la familia asiste a servicios religiosos.Every Sunday after we eat breakfast, the family
attends religious services.[Indic.: habitual action] Cuando termines la tarea iremos al cine. When you
finish the homework, we 'll go the movies.[Subj.: anticipated action] Adjectival clauses describe or
modify nouns or pronouns. If the noun or pronoun modified is negated, nonexistent or indefinite,
then the verb in the modifying clause will be in the subjunctive; if the noun modified is a definite
one, then the indicative is used. Buscamos al

Language And Its Effects On The Formation Of Relative Clauses
INTRODUCTION
Kiswahili is one of the best documented and most studied African languages and much work has
been done in analyzing various aspects of the language. However, one area which has thus far been
not enough explored is that of the syntactic elements of the relative clause. To this end, the paper
will focus on by providing a detailed (though not exhaustive) analysis of relative clauses without
attempting to grapple with morphology. This is done deliberately so that time is not wasted on
restating too much previous research as morphology in Kiswahili is already a well–researched area.
Moreover, Swahili syntax is deceptively simple and can cause one to imagine that it is of no
importance. In a language as highly agglutinative as Swahili, it seems that morphology is all that is
needed to appreciate the language, however, syntax, as will be shown, does have some powerful
implications in the formation of relative clauses.
The morphosyntactic glosses provided will follow the Leipzig glossing convention throughout.
Given the nature of this research, original data has not been collected, as opposed to the previous
study of the NP–structure, and all of the examples have been taken from secondary sources namely:
Zwart (1997), Lippss (2011), and Ngonyani (2001).
Before dealing with relative clause syntax, outlining a few general features of Kiswahili and having
an idea of what a simple sentence can be in Kiswahili seems to be useful.
The basic declarative sentence structure in

A Paragraph On The Passage Of Approximately Five Essay
PG 251–255
1) Choose a paragraph in the passage of approximately five to eight sentences that strikes you as
particularly powerful. Analyze each sentence, considering its length and whether its type is simple,
compound, complex, fragment, or run–on. See page 367 and page 343 in Reference Points. Write a
short passage on a topic of your choice in which you mimic the sentences you analyzed. The blue
bowl stood there, seemingly full forever, no matter how deeply or rapaciously we dipped, as if it had
no bottom. And she dipped up soup. Dipped up lima beans. Dipped up stew. Forked out potatoes.
Spooned out rice and peas and corn. And in the light and warmth that was Her, we dined. (My
mother 's Blue Bowl by Alice Walker. Paragraph 19, line 1–5.)
The first sentence is a complex sentence because it is made up of an independent clause "the bowl
stood there", "no matter how deeply or rapaciouly we dipped". And a dependent clause "seemingly
full forever", "as if it had no bottom". It is a long sentence because it has several subordinate clause.
The second to fourth sentence are fragment sentences: it is an incomplete sentence. It lacks a
subject, it consists of a verb "dipped" and an object "soup", "lima beans" and "stew".
The fifth sentence is a fragment sentence:It has no subject and it 's incomplete. The verb is "forked"
and the object is "potatoes". It is a short sentence.
The sixth sentence is a fragment sentence: It is an incomplete sentence. The question is "who

a.Define one–to–many relationship and give an example.
In social databases, a one–to–numerous relationship happens when a parent record in one table can
possibly reference a few youngster records in another table. In a one–to–numerous relationship, the
parent is not required to have youngster records; in this way, the one–to–numerous relationship
permits zero tyke records, a solitary kid record or various kid records. The imperative thing is that
the youngster can't have more than one parent record.
b.Define many–to–many relationship and give an example.
A numerous to–numerous relationship alludes to a relationship between tables in a database when a

Define data redundancy and give an example of it.
Information repetition is a condition made inside a database or information stockpiling innovation in
which similar bit of information is held in two separate spots.
This can mean two distinct fields inside a solitary database, or two unique spots in numerous
product situations or stages. At whatever point information is rehashed, this essentially constitutes
information excess. This can happen coincidentally, but at the same time is done intentionally for
reinforcement and recuperation purposes.
d. Define DBMS and the functions it performs.
A database administration framework (DBMS) is a PC programming application that connects with
the client, different applications, and the database itself to catch and dissect information. A
universally useful DBMS is intended to permit the definition, creation, questioning, upgrade, and
organization of databases.
Following are the functions of the DBMS

Importance Of Learning English Essay
Nowadays, English has a significant role in the society. Person in the world has been aware about
the usefullness of English because of that role. The people are enthusiastics to be able to use English
in their lives. Therefore, the major of English has been one of the most favorite majors for the
learners, especially in the university level. Moreover, this fact makes a great impact on the number
of the learners that want to take major of English. In learning English, actually, the learners will find
four main skills in their learning activity. Those four skills are reading, writing, listening and
speaking. Since those are the main skills in English, absolutely, the learners have to understand and
master each of the skill in order to reach their deep understanding in English. However, what can be
seen in the field is that the learners seem not understand the four main skills deeply, so it makes the
students only understand the surface of each skill. Then, because of that, the learners are only able to
make simple products with many errors. From those four skills, writing is one of the most important
skill that the students have to mastered. Wilson (2003: 212) stated that learning how to write well is
really important. Writing is one of the most important things that students do with their education.
By writing, the author can convey a message or information to the reader, and what authors create

Great Gatsby Reflection
At the begging of the year, I had little knowledge to write an essay for this class, especially since we
did not have many guidelines. For my glorious moment paper, I changed a good amount of text. I
went back throwing, revising my paper and making changes. Overall, I changed a majority of my
sentence structures because the first final draft contained numerous bland versions. Many of my
sentences also had to be fixed in the begging so that they were not so repetitive. From there, I
thought it would have been a good idea to changing my opening and closing portions of my essays. I
made my introduction and my conclusion end in the same place so that it all ties together. I also
made a large amount of changes in my cause and effect essay. Reading and revising the paper, I
noticed that the effects were not evident. So, I changed my introduction. While changing my
introduction, I noticed that my body paragraphs did not fit. So, I went back through and decided to
make all of my paragraphs into something different. In dong so, I made my paper much stronger and
I did not have to keep stating how I came to be. I also wen back to the appositive, participial, and
prepositional packets we did and tried to use a variety of different structures. Finally, I also made
large changing in my AP Essay for The Great Gatsby. After rereading my paper I realized that my
paper could be much stronger. In order to make my essay stranger I had to change and critique my
introduction. In

Taking a Look at Complentizers
Chapter 1: Complementizers
1.1. Definition of Complementizers
Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a special word
called "Complementizer". Words like that, if, and for are used to introduce clauses that function as a
complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the verb in the subordi–nate clause is related to these
complementizers. For instance, the complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer ʔanna
are used to introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic ʔan are, of course, for infinitival ones.
Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com–plementizers in
isolation.
1.2. Finite complementizers
A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person, and number. In
English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in
Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and
future).
It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi–nite. While,
on the other hand, the finiteness of the embedded clause is related mainly to the complementizer that
precedes it. Consequently, the clauses that follow the comple–mentizers that, if, and the Arabic
ʔanna are finite clauses.
1.2.1. The complementizer 'that'
That is a complementizer used to introduce finite declarative clauses that function as a complement
or subject of the matrix clause.

Overview of Ilokano Sentence Structures: A Minimalist...
I. IntroductionThis paper is an attempt to describe the structure of Ilokano sentences, concurring
with the Minimalist program proposed by Noam Chomsky. The Philippine language being
considered is under the Northern Philippine subgroup with an estimated 8,000,000 speakers (NSO,
2002–2004). This study is patterned mainly after the Tagalog Sentence Structures: Minimalist
Approach of Resty Cena. In this syntactic description, an overview of the language's lexical phrases
will be given for starters. It will move on to defining, classifying and describing the basic sentences
of the languages. Errors on this study are solely the author's.
II. Lexical PhrasesLexical phrases are headed by a lexical item (as opposed to functional item).

Results: In this practical series, we walked through the practice of conceptualising a problem and

model organism for the study of chromosomal replication (Jakobs M. and Meinhardt F. 2015) and
sporulation (Yano K. et al. 2015) and, besides riboflavin production, it's also used in the industrial
production of enzyme (Lan Thanh Bien T et al., 2014) and biopol–ymers (Ju WT. et al., 2014). The
modelling (or computational) approach consists in gathering as many information as possible
regarding the examined process and progressively, through the abstraction procedure, determining
which part of them represents the variables in control of it and that is therefore fundamental to
describe consistently such phenomenon. The composition and the size of this information subset
depends on the abstraction level upon which we want to study the problem. The abstraction level is
proportional to the number of different aspects of the process (for example, the different species
participating) that we want to take in consideration, and so to the amount of complexity we want to
describe the system with, and inverse proportional to the load of details incorporated in it. Later on,

A recommendation would be for KFF to add a purchase date so that the items can be tracked by the
date purchased. This would allow them to track the purchases by the week and month.
A pivot table is also attached to show ways that KFF can track spending and inventory levels. A
recommendation should be made to include the pivot table in KFF's standard operating procedures
as far as inventory goes. This will allow managers and supervisors to view them and see inventory
levels by different breakdowns. The pivot table attached shows KFF inventory broken down by
inventory items. Under each item you can see which location and GL code purchased inventory and
at what cost. This will be helpful in tracking each inventory item by location and GL code. The
summary line items can also be filtered by just the certain locations/summary line item. The pivot
table is also beneficial when looking at cost and information regarding the specific inventory item.
Kudler Fine Foods has a very valuable inventory system at this time but there is always room for
improvement. All recommendations were discussed in the paragraphs above. They have a very neat
and concise inventory report on hand but adding the additional areas will give them the upper hand
on tracking their inventory and also their budgets regarding their inventory. Using pivot tables and
entity relationship diagrams will also be beneficial to KFF in order to categorize, organize, and track
their inventory. In

Run on Sentences
Run on Sentences
Run on sentences are sentences that contain too many ideas without proper punctuation. Not all long
sentences are run on sentences. It is perfectly acceptable to join several related ideas in one
compound sentence. However, if you don 't follow punctuation rules, a sentence can become a run
on. A simple explanation of run ons and some examples of run on sentences should help to make
this point clear.
Components of A Sentence
Each sentence has 3 necessary components 1. A subject: What is this sentence about? The subject is
usually, but not always, a noun or a pronoun. 2. An action: What is the subject of the sentence
doing? The action is always a verb. 3. A complete thought: What is the purpose of this ... Show more

For example, it would be acceptable to say "Ann likes to read; she reads lots of books and goes to

A SENTENCE FRAGMENT fails to be a sentence in the sense that it cannot stand by itself. It does
not contain even one independent clause. There are several reasons why a group of words may seem
to act like a sentence but not have the wherewithal to make it as a complete thought.
It may locate something in time and place with a prepositional phrase or a series of such phrases, but
it 's still lacking a proper subject–verb relationship within an independent clause:
In Japan, during the last war and just before the armistice.
This sentence accomplishes a great deal in terms of placing the reader in time and place, but there is
no subject, no verb.
It describes something, but there is no subject–verb relationship:
Working far into the night in an effort to salvage her little boat.

Exit West Analysis
Home is a complex term that can be thought of in many different ways. Hamid breaks down the
definition of home and broadens it significantly in his novel, Exit West. Throughout the beginning
of the last chapter of Hamid's Exit West, the third person narrative voice makes it clear that Nadia no
longer has a connection to her birthplace. A certain distance is present as she walks through the
town; a town that is "familiar but also unfamiliar," and has lost many of its recognizable
characteristics to war and fire (Hamid 229). This theme of the last chapter connects to the overall
lack of place in the novel. Hamid refuses to name the place of Nadia and Saeed's birth and he rejects
the notion of home for the whole of the novel. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film, Sarya feels distant from her estranged father and does not treat him like family as he
abandoned her early in her childhood. When Sarya has the opportunity to leave her father in favor of
being with Willy, a seemingly dangerous boy she just met, she does not hesitate to leave as she was
able to make a closer connection to this boy than she had with her father in a matter of minutes .
While Sarya could have made a home with members of her family, she gives this up for an
opportunity she finds more appealing with her new friend. Sarya and Nadia are both characterized in
their respective works as people whose definition of home does not include family. Home for them
is the place in which they live at any particular time, and is separate from familial ties. Throughout
Exit West, Nadia travels from place to place without feelings of loss. Hamid removes the emotion of
sadness from migration to communicate that home does not need to be a permanent entity and can
move with you as you migrate. When Nadia and Saeed first begin their migration journey, the
rendezvous point reminded Nadia of her "former home" (Hamid 102). So soon after leaving her
beloved apartment, Nadia refers to it as her former home, already separating herself from her birth
city. While she did realize that she had a home in the city she left, she knew that her apartment was a

Questions On Writing And Writing
When writing, it is important to submit a paper that is both grammatically correct and punctually
error free. This is important for two reasons. First, the inattention to detail in your writing may
signal to the reader that you are inattentive in matters that are more important. Secondly, "you risk
not only distracting readers from your message but also undermining your authority to deliver the
message in the first place."
The Comma Splice The comma splice, or run on sentence, may be the most common punctuation
error students make. This occurs when the writer joins two independent clauses without the use of
proper punctuation. This is important for several reasons. Since it is the most common error,
learning how to correct it will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When correcting or avoiding a run on sentence, some people forget the comma between the two
independent clauses when joining them with a coordinating conjunction. Similarly, others forget the
comma after an introductory dependant clause. Because I did so much research for this paper, my
grade should be much better than my last one. Commas are also required to set off nonrestrictive
clauses. The book I ordered from Barnes and Noble, Write Right, should help my work greatly.
Omitting commas from lists, or a series of items, is also a common problem. People have the right
to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Apostrophe Errors Apostrophes have two functions, you may use them to show possession, and you
may use them to form contractions (don't). Although A Manual for Writers does not strictly prohibit
the use of contractions, you are advised against it. To show possession, add an apostrophe and an s
to singular nouns and plural nouns that do not end with the s (the carpenter's hammer). To show
possession of a plural noun or words ending in the s, simply add the apostrophe (carpenters' union).
An errant apostrophe can significantly change the meaning of sentence. It is important for the reader
to understand if you are speaking about something that belongs to the doctor (the doctor's car), more
than one doctor (doctors), or something belonging to a group of doctors (the doctors' practice).

Relative Clause Essay
Introduction
A relative clause is a dependent clause that functions as an adjective; that is, it modifies a noun or
pronoun. For this reason, relative clauses are also called adjective clauses.
A relative clause will meet three requirements :
First, it contains a subject and verb.
Next, it begins with a relative pronoun (who, whom, whose, that, or which) or a relative adverb
(when, where, or why).
Finally, it functions as an adjective, answering the questions What kind? How many? or Which one?
Relative Pronouns and Adverbs
A relative clause begins with a relative pronoun or relative adverb.
Pronouns
who, whom, whose, that
which, that, whose refer to humans

Variable Interest Entities (VIEs) are addressed in ASC 810–10–15 with a subtopic addressing VIEs.
ASC 810–15–17(d) states the criteria to be considered in determining if a VIE qualifies for the
business scope exception [1]. These criteria are paraphrased in the latter of this analysis.
Per the guidance in ASC 810–15–17(d), in order for DeviceCo or Pharmador to qualify for the
business scope exception, LeaseMed must be first deemed a business. ASC 805–10–20 defines a
business as "an integrated set of activities and assets that is capable of being conducted and
managed for the purpose of providing a return... directly to investors or other owners, members, or
participants." LeaseMed fits this definition in reference to its investors, DeviceCo and Pharmador.
ASC 810–15–17(d) also gives four criteria, which the involved parties must not meet, in order to
qualify for the business scope exception. The criteria and the analysis corresponding analysis are
below:
1. The reporting entity participates in the design or redesign of the VIE. Except in the case of a joint
venture in the joint control of the reporting entity and at least one other party.
Analysis: Both DeviceCo and Pharmador do not meet this criterion since LeaseMed is a joint
venture and is therefore exempt.
2. The VIE conducts business on behalf

Grammar Moves: Chapter Analysis
I read chapter twelve of Grammar Moves: Shaping Who You Are for my grammar summary. This
chapter is about cumulative sentences and other types of sentences. I chose this chapter because I
wanted to read about different sentence types and how they affect my writing. I want to see if using
cumulative sentences will improve my sentences. I was also curious why Finn and Weinstein refer
to the cumulative sentences can be considered generous. The types of sentences this chapter talks
about includes, simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, periodic sentences, and
cumulative sentences. Cumulative sentences are sentences where the main point comes first and
more details get added on after the main point. Cumulative sentences can go to hundreds of words
(Finn and Weinstein 70). Complex sentences is when a main action gets a dependent clause added
on to it (Finn and Weinstein 69). A periodic sentence is a complex sentence that saves the main point
for the end of the sentence (Finn and Weinstein 70). Simple sentences are when a writer only writes
about a main action. A compound sentence is when a sentence has two or more main actions (Finn
and Weinstein 69). Thi chapter goes into depth about complex sentences. Finn and Weinstein ...

Using complex sentences and back–loading, I can go into more detail about my main point in a
single sentence. These types of sentences allows the writer to be generous with their writing and
give the readers more of what they want (Finn and Weinstein 72–73). If I need to go straight to the
main point, I can use a simple sentence or use front–loading. These types of sentences allows writers
to give their main point and allow the reader to get the main point quickly without any more detail

Norman Rockwell And The American Academy Of Design

Meanings Of A Word Gloria Naylor Analysis
Language is a powerful ensemble of instruments that all eject different tones. How instruments are
played, effect the tone that is given. The way language is used affects the feelings that are released.
The power of language has different uses: it can hurt or heal, it can destroy relationships or build
new ones, it can make a girl feel like nothing or make her feel as though she is on top of the world.
No matter what language is used for, it can make a huge impact, how language is used determines
whether the impact is positive or negative. In her essay "The Meanings of a Word", Gloria Naylor's
effective depiction of language is revealed through syntax, diction, and imagery.
Naylor's sentence structure plays a key role in the delivery of her ... Show more content on

Naylor uses diction to compare the use of "nigger" to other equally derogatory words. "Had he
called me a nymphomaniac or a necrophilliac, I couldn't have been more puzzled" (3). The words
nymphomaniac, necrophilliac, and nigger all have negative connotations. By using these words,
Naylor reveals how hearing nigger was derogatory and demeaning. Naylor's word choice gives a
clear idea of the negative connotation "nigger" held in the classroom. Naylor elaborates on her view
of the term in paragraph 5, "And so among the anecdotes of the triumphs and disappointments in the
various workings of their lives, [..]". Naylor uses "triumphs" and "disappointments" to show the
contrast of meaning "nigger" had in her everyday life. The word choice shows flexibility in
language and describes how terms have the capacity to change in meaning. Later in the paragraph,
Naylor exhibits a positive depiction of "nigger" , "In the singular, the word was always applied to a
man who had distinguished himself [...]" (5). Naylor uses uplifting diction by including
"distinguished" in her description and it shines a positive light on the term "nigger". As a whole,
Naylor's diction adds on to how broad language interpretations can

2. Once it is established that the first step of the goodwill impairment test must be completed, the
following steps must be taken according to FASB codification section 350–20–35.4. The first step of
the goodwill impairment test is to, "compare the fair value of a reporting unit with its carrying

The outcomes of the first step of goodwill impairment test will be either that the carrying amount of

In the event that the carrying amount of the reporting unit is greater than zero, then the second test

Why Do Ducks Quack
Why do ducks quack By Frank Mathura There are two genders of ducks. They are male and female.
There are also baby ducks, called ducklings. All of these different types of ducks quack for different
reasons, and in different ways. The baby ducks, or ducklings, quack when they are in distress. If
they are in danger, or they fear something, they will often quack. Their quack is a soft whistle. An
example of a perilous situation in which a duckling would quack is when it is being hunted by one
of its natural predators. Because ducks are delicious birds, many animals hunt and eat ducks, like
foxes. If the mother duck is away, and the ducklings are in danger from a fox, the will call out in a
whistle, and the mother will come to help, if she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike most birds, ducks do not have a sequential molt. Instead, they have a simultaneous wing molt
in early spring, or sometimes even in summer. They lose all of their primary feathers at once, and
lose their ability to fly, at least until they grow the feathers back. This typically takes around twenty
to forty days. The panic of losing hundreds, or maybe thousands of feathers at once causes the ducks
to quack in fear. But some ducks sound very different when they quack. In fact, only a small
minority of ducks quack in the traditional way. The only ducks that do are a small group of species
in the genus Anas. For example, the American Black duck's quack sounds like a "Donald Duck"
quack. Other species quacks sound like whistles, and cries, and a variety of other sounds. Another
reason people believe all ducks quack the same, traditional way is the popular character, Donald
Duck. He, and other cartoonish ducks played on TV are chosen because of ducks comic appearance.
The quacks we associate with all ducks are chosen for their comedic value, not their factual
accuracy. Because of popular characters like Donald Duck, many children grow up believe that all
ducks quack just like their favorite TV cartoon character. But in reality, nothing could be further

In the 15th section of The Worldhood of the World,...
In the 15th section of The Worldhood of the World, Heidegger writes about the how we can
experience things phenomenologically if we pay attention to our everyday environment. He calls
this "Being–in–the–world" or our "dealings". Each entity that we encounter has a Being, and in
order to investigate those Beings, we must closely investigate how we deal with the environment.
Entities that we encounter are not object, but what gets used, produced and more, such as a tool.
Entities are not defined as "Things" rather, the way in which humans interact with them changes
their meaning, and transform these entities into something that can be manipulated. Heidegger calls
the entities which we encounter "equipment" however, he also ... Show more content on

He ends the section by asking whether people are able to grasp the concepts of phenomenology.
In section 16, Heidegger first talks about the possibility that if the Dasein, humans, are able to
phenomenologically experience Being–in–the World (such as objects and consciousness)
instinctively, phenomenon could be "held at bay" and studied. He then goes on talking about the un–
usability of "ready–to–hand" objects. He begins by talking about equipment being conspicuous,
something that might be damaged or broken. By losing its usability, the tool also loses its usefulness
and character as "ready–to–hand" and is now pure "presence at hand". However, the equipment isn't
perceived differently than before. For instance, a broken hammer isn't perceived as a piece of steel
and wood, but it would still preserve its identity as a hammer. He then talks about obtrusiveness. He
explains that equipment can be unusable because of missing pieces. The more important the missing
piece is, the more unusable the equipment is. Lastly he explains that unusability can characterized as
something that "stands in our way". Heidegger calls this obstinacy. Conspicuousness, obtrusiveness,
and obstinacy are capable of bringing presence–at–hand characteristics to ready–at–hand objects
through modifications of the equipment. However, even if this is the case, we don't lose sight of the
identity and function of the tool, because we are so

Relationship Between Language And Symbol
The definition of a symbol according to Merriam–Webster Dictionary is something that stands for
something else by reason of relationship or association; and can either be letters, pictures, an action,
object or event. Symbols are not restricted to pictures or objects, but can include gestures as well as
words. Symbol use is necessarily not just for infants, but adults as well and is crucial to the way
humans think. Not only does something such as a map serve as a symbol but words such as
"wedding ring" can also be seen as a symbol. Therefore, it is clear that language and symbols go
hand in hand. The question that arises then is the affect of these two on learning in young children.
Many studies have been conducted studying the relationship and affect between language and
symbol use in infants. It is understood that "linguistic and symbolic abilities overlap", but language
is far more complex than learning symbols. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) When infants are first learning
words, they connect the words they're being exposed to, to the objects around them. Therefore,
"early word acquisition focuses on the symbolic nature of words." (Namy, Waxman, 1998) This
study more specifically focuses on how infants distinguish between words and other symbols and
how this relationship changes with development. A more recent study proposed that, "early word
acquisition is a function of a general symbolic ability," suggesting that infants learn words and
symbols with the same ability at the

Conceptual Data Models for Database Design
Database Design Process
The database design process consists of a number of steps listed below. We will focus mainly on
step 2, the conceptual database design, and the models used during this step.
Step 1: Requirements Collection and Analysis ▪ Prospective users are interviewed to understand and
document data requirements ▪ This step results in a concise set of user requirements, which should
be detailed and complete. ▪ The functional requirements should be specified, as well as the data
requirements. Functional requirements consist of user operations that will be applied to the database,
including retrievals and updates. ▪ Functional requirements can be documented using ... Show more

For example, if you wish to store the Company Location, unless you will use the atomic information
such as Postal Code, or City separately from the other Location information (Street Address etc)
then there is no need to subdivide it into its component attributes, and the whole Location can be
designated as a simple attribute.
▪ What are examples of other composite attributes?
Single–Valued vs. Multi–valued Attributes
▪ Most attributes have a single value for each entity, such as a car only has one model, a student has
only one ID number, an employee has only one data of birth. These attributes are called single–
valued attributes. ▪ Sometimes an attribute can have multiple values for a single entity, for example,
a doctor may have more than one specialty (or may have only one specialty), a customer may have
more than one mobile phone number, or they may not have one at all. These attributes are called
multi–valued attributes. ▪ Multi–valued attributes may have a lower and upper bounds to constrain
the number of values allowed. For example, a doctor must have at least one specialty, but no more
than 3 specialties.
Stored vs. Derived Attributes
▪ If an attribute can be calculated using the value of another attribute, they are called derived
attributes. ▪ The attribute that is used to derive the attribute is called a stored attribute. ▪ Derived
attributes are not stored in the file, but can be derived when needed from the stored

Data Table Analysis
Data Table Analysis Accounting 542
November 6, 2015
Data Table Analysis Organizations rely heavily on receiving accurate data and information to make
strategic business decisions. The concept is a critical aspect for modern commerce, since
technological advances allows any business to track, trace, and predict inventory usage up to the
moment. Each diagram in an analyses alludes to how accurate an organization's methodology for
operations is. Data tables are a useful tool for organizations to determine a cost–effective method for
improving inventory control and for creating methods to improve business processes.

Each symbol's shape represents a different label. For example, inputting a rectangle identifies the
entity, and a diamonds highlights the relationships between items. The analyst inputs an oval to list
the entity's attributes. Each design links to another with lines illustrating direct relationships
between categories (Bagranoff et al., 2008). The organization currently applies methods common to
most businesses. The current approach is a success; however, the company can improve on some
aspects.
Room for Improvement
Kuddler's Fine Foods' inventory data chart details critical information to management. A data table
with accurate information provides an efficient, more reliable basis for forecasting and relaying up–
to–date information. Amidst the current high–quality inventory table, some notable improvements
can assist the organization's inventory tracking capabilities.
One field missing in the table is the quantity of each item. Management must possess a count of
each inventory item. Furthermore, the wholesale and retail cost of each inventory item must
accompany the data table's current labels. The cost categories can determine if and when
management must adjust prices.
The use of Pivot Tables to Assist with Making Decisions
Pivot tables play a vital role in helping to successfully manage a company's inventory. Management
takes the information from the table and creates a forecast of sales. The pivot table is critical in
providing the foundation for

The Metaphysical Conceit in Donne's Poems
The Metaphysical Conceit Donne's Poems "The Flea" and "A Valediction" are poems by John
Donne that were written in the 17th Century. These poems incorporate the fundamental of
something called a metaphysical conceit. Interesting though, both poems use the metaphysical
conceit to tell a story about two very opposite situation between two "partners". "The Flea's"
metaphysical conceit is stretched along a lustful, passionate, relationship between two individuals.
"A Valediction's" metaphysical conceit follows Donne asking his wife to be calm about his leaving
rather than grieving about it. The poet cleverly hides the true meaning of the poem encouraging his
readers to conduct closer readings and find the implicit details for themselves. We see in both these
poems how the metaphysical conceit is played out to tell two different stories and represent two very
different situations between two partners, whether they be husband and wife, or man and mistress.
In order to really break down the meaning of this poem, we must first understand the idea of a
"metaphysical conceit". This term is an intricate and intellectual device used very often by 17th
Century poets like John Donne. According to www.britannica.com it "sets up an analogy between
one entity's spiritual qualities and an object in the physical world and sometimes controls the whole
structure of the poem." In the context of "The Flea", this spiritual entity is love, lust, and sex, and
the "object" in the physical world

Ambiguity In The Theory Of The Description Theory
In this essay I argue that the understanding of proper names seems to go beyond definite
descriptions. Therefore the Description Theory is not an adequate theory of proper name. I first
provide a brief explanation of the Description Theory, and its sub–theory, the Name Claim, followed
by a brief overview of the main arguments for the Description Theory. I then provide a more
detailed explanation of one direct argument: That it captures the intuitive logic of claims involving
proper names. I then explain the problem of 'Which description?', that there is 'no single determinate
description' (Lycan, 2000: 41) of a proper name. Finally I provide my own critique, showing why I
believe that the Description Theory leaves us with ambiguity in the description ... Show more

They are equivalent to definite descriptions and therefore must be treated as definite descriptions
are. The Description Theory goes further saying that descriptivism about definite descriptions
asserts the existence and the uniqueness of the subject and ascribes a predicate to the subject. The
Description Theory captures the intuitive logic of claims involving proper names (Lycan, 2000: 39)
However, the Description Theory leaves us with ambiguity in the description of a proper name
because more than one description can be applied to one name and it does not enable us to know
which description is relevant. Therefore, there is a need to define what a relevant description of a
proper name is. This makes the Description Theory an inadequate theory of proper

  • 6. The Use of the Subjunctive in Spanish The use of the subjunctive in Spanish: A brief review Clauses are groups of words which express an idea and contain a predicate (i.e., a conjugated verb) and a subject, although of course in Spanish the subject is often merely indicated by the verb ending. They can be divided into two categories: independent clauses (which make sense in and of themselves) and dependent clauses (which need to be used with an independent clause to form a complete sentece). In general, the the indicative, the conditional, and the imperative (command forms) are used in independent clauses; some exceptions will be given in section I below. The subjunctive mood is found primarily in dependent clauses, but of course the other moods can occur there as well, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The verb in an adverbial clauses will be in the subjunctive if the action/state in the clause is anticipated –that is, viewed as being in the future in comparison to the action/state represented by the governing verb. The indicative is used in clauses where the action is viewed as habitual or having been completed. Adverbial clauses are introduced by adverbial conjunctions, some of which by their very nature always indicate something anticipatory and hence always take the subjunctive: antes de que (before), para que (so that), a fin de que (so that), sin que (without), a menos que (unless), and con tal de que (provided that). Some of the more frequent adverbial conjunctions which may take either the indicative or the subjunctive: cuando (when), hasta que (until), después de que (after), tan pronto como (as soon as), mientras (while). Cada domingo después que desayunamos, la familia asiste a servicios religiosos.Every Sunday after we eat breakfast, the family attends religious services.[Indic.: habitual action] Cuando termines la tarea iremos al cine. When you finish the homework, we 'll go the movies.[Subj.: anticipated action] Adjectival clauses describe or modify nouns or pronouns. If the noun or pronoun modified is negated, nonexistent or indefinite, then the verb in the modifying clause will be in the subjunctive; if the noun modified is a definite one, then the indicative is used. • 10. Language And Its Effects On The Formation Of Relative Clauses INTRODUCTION Kiswahili is one of the best documented and most studied African languages and much work has been done in analyzing various aspects of the language. However, one area which has thus far been not enough explored is that of the syntactic elements of the relative clause. To this end, the paper will focus on by providing a detailed (though not exhaustive) analysis of relative clauses without attempting to grapple with morphology. This is done deliberately so that time is not wasted on restating too much previous research as morphology in Kiswahili is already a well–researched area. Moreover, Swahili syntax is deceptively simple and can cause one to imagine that it is of no importance. In a language as highly agglutinative as Swahili, it seems that morphology is all that is needed to appreciate the language, however, syntax, as will be shown, does have some powerful implications in the formation of relative clauses. The morphosyntactic glosses provided will follow the Leipzig glossing convention throughout. Given the nature of this research, original data has not been collected, as opposed to the previous study of the NP–structure, and all of the examples have been taken from secondary sources namely: Zwart (1997), Lippss (2011), and Ngonyani (2001). Before dealing with relative clause syntax, outlining a few general features of Kiswahili and having an idea of what a simple sentence can be in Kiswahili seems to be useful. Analyze each sentence, considering its length and whether its type is simple, compound, complex, fragment, or run–on. See page 367 and page 343 in Reference Points. Write a short passage on a topic of your choice in which you mimic the sentences you analyzed. The blue bowl stood there, seemingly full forever, no matter how deeply or rapaciously we dipped, as if it had no bottom. And she dipped up soup. Dipped up lima beans. Dipped up stew. Forked out potatoes. Spooned out rice and peas and corn. And in the light and warmth that was Her, we dined. (My mother 's Blue Bowl by Alice Walker. Paragraph 19, line 1–5.) The first sentence is a complex sentence because it is made up of an independent clause "the bowl stood there", "no matter how deeply or rapaciouly we dipped". And a dependent clause "seemingly full forever", "as if it had no bottom". It is a long sentence because it has several subordinate clause. The second to fourth sentence are fragment sentences: it is an incomplete sentence. It lacks a subject, it consists of a verb "dipped" and an object "soup", "lima beans" and "stew". The fifth sentence is a fragment sentence:It has no subject and it 's incomplete. The verb is "forked" and the object is "potatoes". It is a short sentence. For my glorious moment paper, I changed a good amount of text. I went back throwing, revising my paper and making changes. Overall, I changed a majority of my sentence structures because the first final draft contained numerous bland versions. Many of my sentences also had to be fixed in the begging so that they were not so repetitive. From there, I thought it would have been a good idea to changing my opening and closing portions of my essays. I made my introduction and my conclusion end in the same place so that it all ties together. I also made a large amount of changes in my cause and effect essay. Reading and revising the paper, I noticed that the effects were not evident. So, I changed my introduction. While changing my introduction, I noticed that my body paragraphs did not fit. So, I went back through and decided to make all of my paragraphs into something different. In dong so, I made my paper much stronger and I did not have to keep stating how I came to be. I also wen back to the appositive, participial, and prepositional packets we did and tried to use a variety of different structures. Finally, I also made large changing in my AP Essay for The Great Gatsby. After rereading my paper I realized that my paper could be much stronger. • 40. Taking a Look at Complentizers Chapter 1: Complementizers 1.1. Definition of Complementizers Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a special word called "Complementizer". Words like that, if, and for are used to introduce clauses that function as a complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the verb in the subordi–nate clause is related to these complementizers. For instance, the complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer ʔanna are used to introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic ʔan are, of course, for infinitival ones. Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com–plementizers in isolation. 1.2. Finite complementizers A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person, and number. In English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and future). It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi–nite. While, on the other hand, the finiteness of the embedded clause is related mainly to the complementizer that precedes it. Consequently, the clauses that follow the comple–mentizers that, if, and the Arabic ʔanna are finite clauses. 1.2.1. The complementizer 'that' That is a complementizer used to introduce finite declarative clauses that function as a complement or subject of the matrix clause. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The modelling (or computational) approach consists in gathering as many information as possible regarding the examined process and progressively, through the abstraction procedure, determining which part of them represents the variables in control of it and that is therefore fundamental to describe consistently such phenomenon. The composition and the size of this information subset depends on the abstraction level upon which we want to study the problem. The abstraction level is proportional to the number of different aspects of the process (for example, the different species participating) that we want to take in consideration, and so to the amount of complexity we want to describe the system with, and inverse proportional to the load of details incorporated in it. • 77. Exit West Analysis Home is a complex term that can be thought of in many different ways. Hamid breaks down the definition of home and broadens it significantly in his novel, Exit West. Throughout the beginning of the last chapter of Hamid's Exit West, the third person narrative voice makes it clear that Nadia no longer has a connection to her birthplace. A certain distance is present as she walks through the town; a town that is "familiar but also unfamiliar," and has lost many of its recognizable characteristics to war and fire (Hamid 229). This theme of the last chapter connects to the overall lack of place in the novel. Hamid refuses to name the place of Nadia and Saeed's birth and he rejects the notion of home for the whole of the novel. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the film, Sarya feels distant from her estranged father and does not treat him like family as he abandoned her early in her childhood. When Sarya has the opportunity to leave her father in favor of being with Willy, a seemingly dangerous boy she just met, she does not hesitate to leave as she was able to make a closer connection to this boy than she had with her father in a matter of minutes . While Sarya could have made a home with members of her family, she gives this up for an opportunity she finds more appealing with her new friend. Sarya and Nadia are both characterized in their respective works as people whose definition of home does not include family. Home for them is the place in which they live at any particular time, and is separate from familial ties. Throughout Exit West, Nadia travels from place to place without feelings of loss. Hamid removes the emotion of sadness from migration to communicate that home does not need to be a permanent entity and can move with you as you migrate. When Nadia and Saeed first begin their migration journey, the rendezvous point reminded Nadia of her "former home" (Hamid 102). So soon after leaving her beloved apartment, Nadia refers to it as her former home, already separating herself from her birth city. • 86. Questions On Writing And Writing When writing, it is important to submit a paper that is both grammatically correct and punctually error free. This is important for two reasons. First, the inattention to detail in your writing may signal to the reader that you are inattentive in matters that are more important. Secondly, "you risk not only distracting readers from your message but also undermining your authority to deliver the message in the first place." The Comma Splice The comma splice, or run on sentence, may be the most common punctuation error students make. When correcting or avoiding a run on sentence, some people forget the comma between the two independent clauses when joining them with a coordinating conjunction. Similarly, others forget the comma after an introductory dependant clause. Because I did so much research for this paper, my grade should be much better than my last one. Commas are also required to set off nonrestrictive clauses. The book I ordered from Barnes and Noble, Write Right, should help my work greatly. Omitting commas from lists, or a series of items, is also a common problem. People have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Apostrophe Errors Apostrophes have two functions, you may use them to show possession, and you may use them to form contractions (don't). Although A Manual for Writers does not strictly prohibit the use of contractions, you are advised against it. To show possession, add an apostrophe and an s to singular nouns and plural nouns that do not end with the s (the carpenter's hammer). To show possession of a plural noun or words ending in the s, simply add the apostrophe (carpenters' union). An errant apostrophe can significantly change the meaning of sentence. ASC 810–15–17(d) states the criteria to be considered in determining if a VIE qualifies for the business scope exception [1]. These criteria are paraphrased in the latter of this analysis. Per the guidance in ASC 810–15–17(d), in order for DeviceCo or Pharmador to qualify for the business scope exception, LeaseMed must be first deemed a business. ASC 805–10–20 defines a business as "an integrated set of activities and assets that is capable of being conducted and managed for the purpose of providing a return... directly to investors or other owners, members, or participants." LeaseMed fits this definition in reference to its investors, DeviceCo and Pharmador. The criteria and the analysis corresponding analysis are below: 1. The reporting entity participates in the design or redesign of the VIE. I chose this chapter because I wanted to read about different sentence types and how they affect my writing. I want to see if using cumulative sentences will improve my sentences. I was also curious why Finn and Weinstein refer to the cumulative sentences can be considered generous. The types of sentences this chapter talks about includes, simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, periodic sentences, and cumulative sentences. Cumulative sentences are sentences where the main point comes first and more details get added on after the main point. Cumulative sentences can go to hundreds of words (Finn and Weinstein 70). Complex sentences is when a main action gets a dependent clause added on to it (Finn and Weinstein 69). A periodic sentence is a complex sentence that saves the main point for the end of the sentence (Finn and Weinstein 70). Simple sentences are when a writer only writes about a main action. A compound sentence is when a sentence has two or more main actions (Finn and Weinstein 69). Thi chapter goes into depth about complex sentences. Finn and Weinstein ... The way language is used affects the feelings that are released. The power of language has different uses: it can hurt or heal, it can destroy relationships or build new ones, it can make a girl feel like nothing or make her feel as though she is on top of the world. No matter what language is used for, it can make a huge impact, how language is used determines whether the impact is positive or negative. In her essay "The Meanings of a Word", Gloria Naylor's effective depiction of language is revealed through syntax, diction, and imagery. "Had he called me a nymphomaniac or a necrophilliac, I couldn't have been more puzzled" (3). The words nymphomaniac, necrophilliac, and nigger all have negative connotations. By using these words, Naylor reveals how hearing nigger was derogatory and demeaning. Naylor's word choice gives a clear idea of the negative connotation "nigger" held in the classroom. Naylor elaborates on her view of the term in paragraph 5, "And so among the anecdotes of the triumphs and disappointments in the various workings of their lives, [..]". Naylor uses "triumphs" and "disappointments" to show the contrast of meaning "nigger" had in her everyday life. The word choice shows flexibility in language and describes how terms have the capacity to change in meaning. Later in the paragraph, Naylor exhibits a positive depiction of "nigger" , "In the singular, the word was always applied to a man who had distinguished himself [...]" (5). Naylor uses uplifting diction by including "distinguished" in her description and it shines a positive light on the term "nigger". All of these different types of ducks quack for different reasons, and in different ways. The baby ducks, or ducklings, quack when they are in distress. If they are in danger, or they fear something, they will often quack. Their quack is a soft whistle. An example of a perilous situation in which a duckling would quack is when it is being hunted by one of its natural predators. Because ducks are delicious birds, many animals hunt and eat ducks, like foxes. If the mother duck is away, and the ducklings are in danger from a fox, the will call out in a whistle, and the mother will come to help, if she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike most birds, ducks do not have a sequential molt. Instead, they have a simultaneous wing molt in early spring, or sometimes even in summer. They lose all of their primary feathers at once, and lose their ability to fly, at least until they grow the feathers back. This typically takes around twenty to forty days. The panic of losing hundreds, or maybe thousands of feathers at once causes the ducks to quack in fear. But some ducks sound very different when they quack. In fact, only a small minority of ducks quack in the traditional way. The only ducks that do are a small group of species in the genus Anas. For example, the American Black duck's quack sounds like a "Donald Duck" quack. Other species quacks sound like whistles, and cries, and a variety of other sounds. Another reason people believe all ducks quack the same, traditional way is the popular character, Donald Duck. He, and other cartoonish ducks played on TV are chosen because of ducks comic appearance. The quacks we associate with all ducks are chosen for their comedic value, not their factual accuracy. Because of popular characters like Donald Duck, many children grow up believe that all ducks quack just like their favorite TV cartoon character. But in reality, nothing could be further from the ... Entities that we encounter are not object, but what gets used, produced and more, such as a tool. Entities are not defined as "Things" rather, the way in which humans interact with them changes their meaning, and transform these entities into something that can be manipulated. Heidegger calls the entities which we encounter "equipment" however, he also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He ends the section by asking whether people are able to grasp the concepts of phenomenology. In section 16, Heidegger first talks about the possibility that if the Dasein, humans, are able to phenomenologically experience Being–in–the World (such as objects and consciousness) instinctively, phenomenon could be "held at bay" and studied. He then goes on talking about the un– usability of "ready–to–hand" objects. He begins by talking about equipment being conspicuous, something that might be damaged or broken. By losing its usability, the tool also loses its usefulness and character as "ready–to–hand" and is now pure "presence at hand". However, the equipment isn't perceived differently than before. For instance, a broken hammer isn't perceived as a piece of steel and wood, but it would still preserve its identity as a hammer. He then talks about obtrusiveness. He explains that equipment can be unusable because of missing pieces. The more important the missing piece is, the more unusable the equipment is. Lastly he explains that unusability can characterized as something that "stands in our way". Heidegger calls this obstinacy. Conspicuousness, obtrusiveness, and obstinacy are capable of bringing presence–at–hand characteristics to ready–at–hand objects through modifications of the equipment. However, even if this is the case, we don't lose sight of the identity and function of the tool, because we are so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relationship Between Language And Symbol The definition of a symbol according to Merriam–Webster Dictionary is something that stands for something else by reason of relationship or association; and can either be letters, pictures, an action, object or event. Symbols are not restricted to pictures or objects, but can include gestures as well as words. Symbol use is necessarily not just for infants, but adults as well and is crucial to the way humans think. Not only does something such as a map serve as a symbol but words such as "wedding ring" can also be seen as a symbol. Therefore, it is clear that language and symbols go hand in hand. The question that arises then is the affect of these two on learning in young children. Many studies have been conducted studying the relationship and affect between language and symbol use in infants. It is understood that "linguistic and symbolic abilities overlap", but language is far more complex than learning symbols. (Namy, Waxman, 1998) When infants are first learning words, they connect the words they're being exposed to, to the objects around them. Therefore, "early word acquisition focuses on the symbolic nature of words." (Namy, Waxman, 1998) This study more specifically focuses on how infants distinguish between words and other symbols and how this relationship changes with development. A more recent study proposed that, "early word acquisition is a function of a general symbolic ability," suggesting that infants learn words and symbols with the same ability at the ... We will focus mainly on step 2, the conceptual database design, and the models used during this step. Step 1: Requirements Collection and Analysis ▪ Prospective users are interviewed to understand and document data requirements ▪ This step results in a concise set of user requirements, which should be detailed and complete. ▪ The functional requirements should be specified, as well as the data requirements. Functional requirements consist of user operations that will be applied to the database, including retrievals and updates. ▪ Functional requirements can be documented using ... For example, if you wish to store the Company Location, unless you will use the atomic information such as Postal Code, or City separately from the other Location information (Street Address etc) then there is no need to subdivide it into its component attributes, and the whole Location can be designated as a simple attribute. ▪ What are examples of other composite attributes? Single–Valued vs. Multi–valued Attributes ▪ Most attributes have a single value for each entity, such as a car only has one model, a student has only one ID number, an employee has only one data of birth. These attributes are called single– valued attributes. ▪ Sometimes an attribute can have multiple values for a single entity, for example, a doctor may have more than one specialty (or may have only one specialty), a customer may have more than one mobile phone number, or they may not have one at all. These attributes are called multi–valued attributes. ▪ Multi–valued attributes may have a lower and upper bounds to constrain the number of values allowed. For example, a doctor must have at least one specialty, but no more than 3 specialties. Stored vs. Derived Attributes ▪ If an attribute can be calculated using the value of another attribute, they are called derived

Data Table Analysis Data Table Analysis Accounting 542 November 6, 2015 Data Table Analysis Organizations rely heavily on receiving accurate data and information to make strategic business decisions. The concept is a critical aspect for modern commerce, since technological advances allows any business to track, trace, and predict inventory usage up to the moment. Each diagram in an analyses alludes to how accurate an organization's methodology for operations is. Data tables are a useful tool for organizations to determine a cost–effective method for improving inventory control and for creating methods to improve business processes. For example, inputting a rectangle identifies the entity, and a diamonds highlights the relationships between items. The analyst inputs an oval to list the entity's attributes. Each design links to another with lines illustrating direct relationships between categories (Bagranoff et al., 2008). The organization currently applies methods common to most businesses. The current approach is a success; however, the company can improve on some aspects. Room for Improvement Kuddler's Fine Foods' inventory data chart details critical information to management. A data table with accurate information provides an efficient, more reliable basis for forecasting and relaying up– to–date information. Amidst the current high–quality inventory table, some notable improvements can assist the organization's inventory tracking capabilities. One field missing in the table is the quantity of each item. Management must possess a count of each inventory item. Furthermore, the wholesale and retail cost of each inventory item must accompany the data table's current labels. The cost categories can determine if and when management must adjust prices. The use of Pivot Tables to Assist with Making Decisions Pivot tables play a vital role in helping to successfully manage a company's inventory. Management takes the information from the table and creates a forecast of sales. The pivot table is critical in providing the foundation for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 161. The Metaphysical Conceit in Donne's Poems The Metaphysical Conceit Donne's Poems "The Flea" and "A Valediction" are poems by John Donne that were written in the 17th Century. These poems incorporate the fundamental of something called a metaphysical conceit. Interesting though, both poems use the metaphysical conceit to tell a story about two very opposite situation between two "partners". "The Flea's" metaphysical conceit is stretched along a lustful, passionate, relationship between two individuals. "A Valediction's" metaphysical conceit follows Donne asking his wife to be calm about his leaving rather than grieving about it. The poet cleverly hides the true meaning of the poem encouraging his readers to conduct closer readings and find the implicit details for themselves. We see in both these poems how the metaphysical conceit is played out to tell two different stories and represent two very different situations between two partners, whether they be husband and wife, or man and mistress. In order to really break down the meaning of this poem, we must first understand the idea of a "metaphysical conceit". This term is an intricate and intellectual device used very often by 17th Century poets like John Donne. According to www.britannica.com it "sets up an analogy between one entity's spiritual qualities and an object in the physical world and sometimes controls the whole structure of the poem." In the context of "The Flea", this spiritual entity is love, lust, and sex, and the "object" in the physical world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 165. Ambiguity In The Theory Of The Description Theory In this essay I argue that the understanding of proper names seems to go beyond definite descriptions. Therefore the Description Theory is not an adequate theory of proper name. I first provide a brief explanation of the Description Theory, and its sub–theory, the Name Claim, followed by a brief overview of the main arguments for the Description Theory. I then provide a more detailed explanation of one direct argument: That it captures the intuitive logic of claims involving proper names. I then explain the problem of 'Which description?', that there is 'no single determinate description' (Lycan, 2000: 41) of a proper name. Finally I provide my own critique, showing why I believe that the Description Theory leaves us with ambiguity in the description ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are equivalent to definite descriptions and therefore must be treated as definite descriptions are. The Description Theory goes further saying that descriptivism about definite descriptions asserts the existence and the uniqueness of the subject and ascribes a predicate to the subject. The Description Theory captures the intuitive logic of claims involving proper names (Lycan, 2000: 39) However, the Description Theory leaves us with ambiguity in the description of a proper name because more than one description can be applied to one name and it does not enable us to know which description is relevant. Therefore, there is a need to define what a relevant description of a proper name is. This makes the Description Theory an inadequate theory of proper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
