Website Comparison
Introduction I have chosen two of the biggest broadband and telecommunication companies in Ireland for this website comparison. O2 and Vodafone
are both leading distributors of mobile services for individuals and corporate clients providing them with solutions in communications. They are the two
biggest competitors in the mobile networking industry in Ireland constituting for 88% of the total market. This market percentage is split between
Vodafone andO2, 48% and 40% respectively.
I have chosen these two websites for comparison for a number of reasons. I have been a frequent user of both sites, and am interested in the industry.
The main reason however I selected these websites is due to the substantial differences in theme and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the shop page the user will be given 4 options to browse shop by phone, browse by plan, purchase SIM only, or to go the O2 broadband section.
Underneath these options again are more offers specifying O2's current most popular deals. The most popular deals have clearly labelled prices on
all of the phones. Browsing through the shop is easy, and informative. The main specifications and advantages of each product are clearly placed
beside a picture of that product and the price is also clearly labelled. If you actually select the phone the user is redirected to another page which
describes in depth specifications, main features and pricing plans. Some of the specifications are interactive and offer a visual 3D experience where
they can rotate the phone with their mouse. This ensures that the user is confident with their purchase. In some cases, demos are available to watch
how the product operates. Overall the shop provides some great interactive features and effectively utilises and takes advantage the capabilities of
Adobe flash player.
One of the more interesting features of the O2 website is its partner websites. From navigating through the webpage there are often sections with links
to some of O2's separate projects. Examples of these are 02thinkbig.ie where the user is redirected to a section created to encourage young innovators.
The mission statement for the O2

Sofia Vergara's Influence On Latino Culture
The latino population has influenced American ways of life . Latino's have changed the United states. In areas such as arts, sports, movements,
and income. Without their influence on american culture would be a much different place. The famous latina I have chosen to represent is Sofia
Vergara. She is know as a triple threat ih her own way. Vergara is a model, actress, and former comedian. Sofia grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia
and was born on July 10th, 1972, to the loving parents Margarita Vergara Davila de Vergara and Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo. Sofia Vergara is a
great role model for all. She has influenced the nation in many different ways. Because of her humbleness it has brought great fortune for example
her career skyrocketed by making insignificant commercials in Columbia, becoming a travel host, and her stardom can be associative with movies,
Tv shows and modeling gigs. Sofia Vergara is a small town girl who went from doing insignificant pepsi commercials to being a world known role

When these roles are made available to other members of society to enter into and play out, the reciprocal interactions are said to be institutionalized. In
the process of this institutionalization, meaning is embedded in society. The society is formed by certain objectives or norms that they all have in
common. This is the reason why they become institutionalized in the first place. It is important to keep in mind that the objectivity of the institutional
world, however massive it may appear to the individual, is a humanly produced, constructed objectivity. The process by which the externalized products
of human activity attain the character of objectivity is called objectivation. The institutional world is objectivated by human activity, and so is every
single institution. In other words, despite the objectivity that marks the social world in human experience, it does not thereby acquire an ontological
status apart from the human activity that produced it. At the same point, the institutionalized world also requires legitimation, that is, ways by which it
can be "explained" and justified. This is not because it appears less real. As we have seen, the reality of the social

Effects Of Regulation On The Economy
Every economy needs regulations to a certain extent, but how much is too much, and how exactly do regulations even affect the economy of the
country? Those are key questions that many are asking, and don't truly have answers for. Many people in the country feel that there is way too much
regulation on the economy at this point; however, there's also a great amount of people who are content with how much regulation is going on, and
would keep pushing. Essentially there are two extremes when it comes to the topic of regulation and what too much of it will do to the economy. Too
much regulation on the economy can have a negative impact in many ways. The biggest reason as to why many are so terribly against too much
regulation is because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Texas each person who is a computer repair technician is required to obtain a private investigator's license, or a PI license. The only way two ways
for and individual to receive a PI license is to either go to school and earn a degree in criminal justice (CJ), or they are required to take part in a
three year apprenticeship with an individual who is already a licensed PI. Considering that there are individuals who just repair computers on the
side or want to just help a friend or someone else out simply because they possess the skill set is also not an option. Any person who repairs a
computer without possessing a license, and any person who lets someone without the PI license repairs their computer are both violating laws.
Both could receive up to a year of jail time and both could be fined up to $4,000. Texas isn't the only place that requires individuals to get license for
petty things. In Pennsylvania, any person who is a blogger it is obligatory to purchase a business privilege license. These licenses cost $300, and it
truly wouldn't be a big deal if one is making a lot of money off of blogging; however, regardless of how much or how little you make off of blogging
one is required to pay the $300 license fee. There was a case about a young lady who was "chased after" because she earned $11 from blogging over the
course of two years. It truly isn't worth

Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960's Essay
Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960's The early 1960's was a period of time where standard of living was rising and there was more
consumer goods to buy and people were on higher wages so could now afford luxury items which they would of never thought of buying. The
1960's was a period of great change, particularly in the younger generation of people. A good quote from the Prime Mister at the time sums up the
early 60's in a way which many would agree with, 'you've never had it so good', he said this at the 1957 general election – but some people still think
the late 50's as 'grey' this reflects the culture of Britain at the time. The 1960's was a period when there was great change in... Show more content on

Jimi Hendrix Accomplishments
Jimi Hendrix was called the greatest electric guitarist. He was someone who was determined to make his life worth his time. Hendrix wanted to go
somewhere and he never stopped trying to get to where he wanted to be. He started from having absolutely nothing, he barely had a family at some
points in his life. Then at the age Twenty–Five he was standing on a stage in front of over half of a million people, who were there to see him. All he
was, was a frustrated artist, trying to learn to read music. Jimi Hendrix was one of the most inspiring and remarkable musicians of the rock era. James
Allen Hendrix, who was better known as Al Hendrix was born in 1919, in Vancouver, Canada. Lucille Jeter was born in 1925, in Seattle, Washington,

Once Hendrix and his band finally took stage, the show was already running way over schedule. The 500,000 young crowd members were exhausted
from a weekend full of huge performances and heavy rain. However when Hendrix started his set shortly after dawn on that Monday morning, instead
of Sunday night, he amazed the mud–soaked crowds and brought them to a frenzy with his performance (Unterberger 101). Hendrix performed his rock

Floyd Cover Art
On March 1, 1973, Pink Floyd released what some consider their best and most famous album, "The Dark Side of the Moon." The album holds the
record for time spent on the Billboard Top 200 albums with a total of 861 non–successive weeks, (Billboard) and included prominent songs such as
"Time," "Money," and "The Great Gig in the Sky." It is characterized by the cover, which shows a prism separating a stand of light into a rainbow
over a black background. When the album was released, the image's success impacted it by gaining the attention and support of a broader audience.
In the recent year of 2011, the album cover proved itself once more when it was ranked the number two album cover of all time by the readers of

This desire for change is symbolized by the cover art. The album draws attention to issues within the world that make it a worse, more problematic
place. This state of the world is represented by white light. The light suggest that people are pure in thought, and naГЇve: they don't know about the
problems of the world. Humans need a catalyst to start a revolution so they can move away from obsessions with money, the pain of war and ignoring
poverty. That catalyst is represented by the prism. Change could happen if people would use their time wisely and work for it. Artist likePink Floyd and
the attitude of the youth that bought their albums in the 1970s could act as catalyst for change. This changed, informed world is represented by the

race though, it has turned it into something beautiful. The complete image shows a change from a blind society to one that is aware of difficulties and

Argumentative Essay On Pink Floyd
"There is No Dark Side of The Moon, Really. Matter of Fact, it's All Dark"
Pink Floyd is a band that has changed the music of their era. Pink Floyd formed their band in the mid 1960s. At this point the band was considered an
acid rock band Playing small shows, halls, and house parties. Underground celebrities in England Pink Floyd shows were riddled with drug use. Fans
would consume LSD before the show to experience the psychedelic experience. The band did not play short pop like songs like people were used
to, instead they had a different idea. They would go on to play long improvised songs that would seem to have no end. This concept was a heavy
influence from the lead guitar player, singer, and songwriter, Syd Barrett. Syd Barrett... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During Syds last moments with the band he was not all there. After an overdose on LSD Syd would begin to spiral out of control. While writing
this song I believe the clear focus was on Syd. "If the dam break open many years too soon, and if there is no room upon the hill" relates to if they
get popular and there no room for Syd to be there with them. Next, they sing "i'll see you on the dark side of the moon" which is their way of
saying i'll see you on the other side. The song also hints towards the madness that is Syd. "The lunatic is in my head" seems to be a hint of
schizophrenia. This becomes very clear it is when he says "there's someone in my head but it's not me". Syds schizophrenia has had an everlasting
effect on pink floyd. Shortly after, another shout out to Syd comes out in the lyrics "if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, i'll see you
on the dark side of the moon". This relates to the different style they started playing while Syd was out of the band. T hey played similar songs, but
more appropriate for radio and to relate to people on an individual level. Live performances change from never playing a song on the album to playing
the whole album during the

"Someone is here to see you. He is very excited to meet you. You will never believe who it is" said the mother of a little girl, who turned around
after staring at the spotless skies outside her window for what seemed like an eternity. She was counting the days down by planning out the rest of her
life from what dress to the next dance would look like to what movie she wants to catch next. She had been at this for months, but hadn't even
attempted any of it. She had this flyer lying around for this contest to create a script and act in a self–produced play for youngsters but she made no

Essay on The Great Gig in the Sky
At a late Thursday night, I have received word that I would perform in a fancy ball room. With only two weeks of experience I had a gig in front of
a hundred people. Like many first gigs, the stage plays tricks on you and makes you feel inferior. Stage fright had to go away at some point, so I
decided for it to be this Saturday night. Countless of hours put into this one night, I would practice day in and day out. There was something for me
to prove. You don't have to be naturally talented and experienced to become successful or to perform at a high level. All it takes is a little
self–confidence and hard work. Is two weeks enough for a musician to pick up an instrument and perform? A sunny day in Houston, Texas. Just this
morning I have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My heart quickly accelerated and continued to run for its life. I looked at my hands which were beginning to moisture. The thought of performing
with little experience struck me down. I was a nervous wreck and I knew that within the next five minutes. I will give it my all or die trying. I
patiently waited to be called. A loud thumping noise is heard as I head over to the door and open the door. It was my father. "There is no need to
feel nervous. You worked so hard and pushed yourself to prove a point. Although that may be true, you worked so hard not only for success but also
for the enjoyment of performing." My dad had turned his back on me and faded away. I stood still thinking about what he has told me. There was a
better reason to why I stood up so late and practiced so much. From the beginning, playing an instrument was a wonderful experience. With a confident
look and a brighter self–esteem. I was ready to rock n roll! I treasured the moment. I put on my shades and walked across the hall with a determined
look. I made my way backstage and was suddenly called to the stage. The spotlight was brighter than the suns ray. I foolishly put my shades back on
and take a look around me. Complete silence was around me. Such a quiet, yet eerie atmosphere. Eyes across the stage followed me like a homing
missile. I strum a chord and begin playing. A rough start was quickly changed whenever the music began progressing. After all, all that practice made

Playing The Trumpet Research Paper
Here are a few ideas of why to play the trumpet. A trumpet is great at making melodies. Trumpet is a brass instrument therefore it can play in brass
sections. Trumpets are relatively inexpensive and easy to play. Trumpets are very portable. It involves your breath. Like other wind instruments, playing
trumpet connects your breath to your sound. This simply feels nice and connects you to the universe, in a similar way that yogic breathing does. The
close union of brass instruments to the harmonic series also makes playing them give a direct sense of union with the physical world. It's much less
abstract than, say, playing an electronic keyboard. There many inspiring artist that played the trumpet, mostly in jazz some are Louis Armstrong, King

Different Types of Gothic Horror Essay
In "The Judge's House" written by Bram Stoker, the story takes place at an evil judge's house that has hanged people, and a student named Malcomson
is just staying there for a few days despite being warned not to. Strange occurrences begin with rats disturbing Malcomson while he is staying there but
particularly a rat with red eyes sticks out to him. The rat with the red eyes would be in a hole behind a painting of the judge that is hung in the house,
and sit in the same position as the judge in the painting. Little did Malcomson know those would be his last days alive since evil never fully dies. The

The rat is linked to the judge, for the stare of the rat Malcolmson imagines the gaze of the judge after seeing the painting of him. The rat being a
double makes it be a menacing other by constantly repeating the same behavior to bother Malcomson every night, such as sitting in the same
position and watching him. Lastly the element of transformation is shown at the end when the judge appears from the painting. As Malcomson
sees that the painting is a portrait of the hanging judge, whose "face was strong and merciless, evil, crafty, and vindictive, with a sensual mouth, a
hooked nose of ruddy colour, and shaped like the beak of a bird of prey"(Stoker 6). The rest of the face was a cadaverous colour," and "the eyes
were of peculiar brilliance and with a terribly malignant expression." The eyes disturb Malcolm, for, in them, he sees "the very counterpart to the eyes
of the great rat"(Stoker 6). They eyes of the great rat finally connect the pieces that the rat is the judge showing the last phase of the transformation
leading to Malcolmson death. As the narrator says, " From the painting, the judge now occupies the rooms "great high–backed carved oak chair" and
wears his judicial robes and "a black cap," which he dons at the stroke of midnight. Rising from his chair, the judge

The Influence Of The Zeitgeist In The 1960s
"Zeitgeist is a word that comes straight from German – zeit means "time" and geist means spirit, and the "spirit of the time" is what's going on
culturally, religiously, or intellectually during a certain period. Think about how something like Woodstock symbolized the 1960s: Woodstock
was part of the Zeitgeist of the 1960s. Whatever seems particular to or symbolic of a certain time is likely part of its Zeitgeist." During every time
period or era, there was and is and forever will be something that will be Zeitgeist representative of the time. The likes of Elvis Presley being the
Zeitgeist of the 1950's Rock and Roll scene often referred to as 'The King of Rock and Roll', to Metallica in my opinion one of the most influential

I believe pure content is the most important feature of any website and Vodafone.ie provides users with endless amount of content and
specifications. One of the features that is provided on the Vodafone site is an interactive demo for Vodafone 360. Vodafone 360 is a service which
allows customers to sync everything between your phone, PC or Mac. Some of Vodafone 360s main sharing options include: address book, maps,
photos, apps, games, music and privacy settings. Although there is the option for social sharing and media sharing I believe this feature is aimed
at data backup especially. With the ever increasing market in smart phones, users are storing a lot more data on their personal devices, so
Vodafone is really trying to emphasis the security and safety of sharing your files to back them up on your home or work computer. Being able to
access work files or home files remotely is also becoming more and more popular and this is what Vodafone 360 aims to do. One feature which I
found exceptionally helpful on the Vodafone website was its search feature. Located in the top right hand corner of the screen the search feature
allows users to automatically locate what they're looking for. For example when you type in "blackberry" into the search bar, you are returned with
three options. These options are to see the full range of blackberry's available in the online shop, a special offer on a specific blackberry and an FAQ

12 Years A Slave By Solomon Northup
12 years a slave is a film adaptation of the autobiography by Solomon Northup. The story is about an African American who lives in Saratoga
Springs, New York with his family in the 1850's. He makes his living as an experienced carpenter and a violinist. One night, Solomon is enticed in a
gig with two outgoing men. The next day, Solomon finds himself chained up in a cell. Northup realizes that the men drugged and kidnapped him into
slavery. Solomon is transported to New Orleans by ferry and giving a new name "Platt".
William Ford, a plantation owner, purchases Platt. Withstanding his new lifestyle, Solomon is getting along with Ford as he builds a waterway to
deliver materials more efficiently. William presents Northup with a violin as a gift in return for his successful work. Overseer, John Tibeats gets
angered and jealous of his achievement, which results in quarrels between him and Solomon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Solomon is strung up to a tree and nearly dies. However, the persecutors leave for another important matter. We see Solomon dangling from the tree
but has his toes barely touching the ground to support him. He is on the verge of death while the rope is chocking him. The camera zooms out to

"Trigger warnings have long been a main stay for feminist websites, used to alert readers to graphic descriptions of abuse or violence. (Moore)"
First thing's first, people define being "triggered" in two different ways as time has progressed. Technically, something triggering a person meant
that they saw something that gave them a flashback to a traumatic memory, such as abuse or rape.. Recently, people are associating trigger
warnings with people who get upset when someone has different views than they do and want nothing to do with a topic they don't agree with.
While these warnings are meant in good nature and safety, they spoil the experience of the piece by giving away what it store for the viewer.
These kinds of warnings don't work the way spoiler alerts, NSFW warnings, or film ratings do; trigger warnings detail specific pinpoints about an
art piece to prevent the viewer to remember a traumatic experience in the past, or to prevent people who are disturbed by a topic from viewing
it.(Stone) That would be like reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and right before chapter one it says that there's going to be a lot of deaths

Disparity is the foundation of life and experience; what would life be without death after all? Time leads us to disparity as it has separate phases:
past, present, and future, and in these phases we perceive difference. Yet in disparity we find madness and calm of mind– it is these states which the
album The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd addresses by showing the phases of life in the first half and various aspects of life in the second half.
Pink Floyd's album The Dark Side of the Moon shows us the fullness of the experience of life by shining light on time and integral parts of disparity in
the physical world: wealth, states of being, etc., and does so through its lyrical and sound based content as well as its circular tale. The overall ... Show

The first song in the second half "Money" shows us that our view of wealth is unhealthy and that fulfillment of wealth is actually making our own
lives unfulfilled. The next song "Us and Them" shows us that conflict is generally unfounded and unfair. The line "Black and blue...And who
knows which is which and who is who." Tells the listener that there are not clear lines in conflict, things cannot be narrowed down to black and
blue. This line also shows that even in the disparity which forms the foundation of our very lives, there is still a sense of unity. "Any Color you
Like" follows after Us and Them, and is purely instrumental, albeit still very important to the meaning of the album. The varying pitch and
instrumental use shows the varying degrees of decision within this very life. The penultimate song "Brain Damage" displays the fulfillment of
insanity in both the inner and outer world through lines like "The lunatic is on the grass" and "The lunatics are in my hall." The song also hints that
the outer world's perceived insanity becomes a part of you and that you are no longer you. The final song in the album "Eclipse" shows the
all–encompassing nature of the album through the continual use of the word "all," as in, "All that you touch, all that you see..." The final line in the
album "There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter

Pink Floyd Research Paper
July 2, 2005, Pink Floyd reunited after over 20 years at Live 8, a series of benefit concerts that coincided with the 20 year anniversary of the Live
Aid Concerts, aimed at ending poverty in impoverished countries, the concerts ushering a call for change. Soon after the events G8 nations doubled
their aid to 50 Billion dollars by the year 2010. An amazing action and what else was amazing was when all four members of Pink Floyd joined up to
play one last time together as one; I have been fortunate to see one members of the band play live, Roger Waters, it was a highlight of my life, seeing
the band sit down mid–song for a card game and a drink, while an improvised song is being played, I was in awe. Pink Floyd has had five band

The Great Gig In The Sky
"The Great Gig in the Sky" is a metaphor for death. As one grows older there are fears of dying, but this song sings a tune of the character "not
frightened of dying" (Floyd, The Great Gig in the Sky). The character has lived his unfulfilled life of stress, anxiety, and the passing of time, that
now dying seems pleasant. Talking with elders, some are scared of dying because they wonder if they did have an unfulfilled life, but this
character seems to accept it, and because of that he or she has no reason to be afraid, because they were well aware they let life pass by. Side B of The
Dark Side of the Moon concentrates on the "roots" that cause madness, or a mediocre life. The most common "evil" in the world is "Money". Money

Urban Legends
In this paper I will explain exactly what an urban legend is,and
give some examples of very popular ones that have been passed by
word of mouth for decades across the United States.
1 " An urban legend is a story that is so bizarre, horrifying,or
unexplainable, that it makes something inside of us want to believe
it." Urban Legends can have traced origins from other countries,
universities, states, or people, that just decided to made up as
incredible story and pass it on to their friends and family members.
Many of these legends were started in the sixties and seventies,
and still continue to be passed on to this day. A good example, is
the horrifying Pop Rocks death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many legends include psychotic elderly people who decide to
kill people or things. One story is of an elderly woman who decides
to dry her wet dog in the microwave(the dog explodes.) Other
legends with the elderly include a crazy woman that kills taxi drivers
as they pick her up, and old men that eat little children!
Many urban legends involve gruesome deaths and murders. This
particular legend was supposed to have happened at the University
of Illinois campus. A girl got off one evening and made the way to
the door where she lived. She and her room mate had an agreement
that if either one or them brought a guy back to their dorm, they would
put a rubberband on the doorknob. When the girl got to the door, she
found a rubberband and walked in without turning on the lights. She
heard moving and heaving breathing,so she decided to go right to
bed.The next morning the girl woke up only to find her roommate
gruesomely murdered. The girl screamed and ran for the door, but
before she walked out she looked at the wall.Written in blood was
a this message,''are'nt you glad you didn't turn on the lights?''
Not all urban legends are completely untrue. There are many
things that can be found in movies, cartoons, and shows. One of
the most popular known of these can be found in Disney's cartoons.

The Story of Maurice White and Earth Wind and Fire
The reason I decided to prepared my paper on Maurice White, the founder of Earth Wind and Fire is because of the fond memories that I have
listening to my parents music. Music from the parents era is very different from the music of today. Music from that era was more love oriented,
rhythmic and rich in science of music and musical arrangements. Artists my parents are fond of consists of music from such groups as the Four Tops,
the Dells, the Dramatics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, the Chi–Lites and Stylistics. They also list Junior Walker and the All–stars, Al Jaureau,
and Ronnie Laws, among others, as jazz groups. However, Earth Wind and Fire's sound is unique and quite different from all other groups of that era.

Music of the South
As you are driving down the road of the countryside of the American South, you see the dry fields of grass spread for miles. You turn on the radio and
all you hear is country music or the blues. This is the culture and music of the South. The South has two types of music, country music of the whites
and the blues of the blacks. Due to the isolation and conservatism of the South, the South had their own forms of rural music. First, we look at the
blues and how grief can become a form of popular music. Great blues singers include Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, B.B. King, and Muddy Waters.
Secondly, we look at the origins of country music. Examples of great country singers include Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and Randy

addition, one of the great male blues singers was Muddy Waters. Waters was born on April 4, 1915 in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. His nickname was
McKinley Morganfield–Muddy Waters and was raised by his grandmother in Clarksdale. Waters was raised in the heart of the blues music which
influenced his life in many ways. At the age of 13, Waters worked at a farm and learned how to played the harmonica. Later, he learned how to play
the guitar and mastered the "bottleneck" style. He recorded folksong with the Library of Congress field collectors which helped him gain experience
in performing and also helped improve his vocal skills. Next, he moved to Chicago during the middle of the war and performing at house parties or
small taverns. He made his first recording with Columbia Records but they were never published. After, he recorded with Aristocrat–later
Chess–Records which include "I Can't Be Satisfied/I Feel Like Going Home". He formed a country group and started to record the Delta Mississippi

Taking a Look at Rock and Roll
In the modern music industry, it is common to witness the appearance and disappearance of new genres in what seems like an 'overnight' lapse of time.
Emergence of different sub–styles has become increasingly popular over the past decade, especially considering the rise of pop music and now
electronic dance. However despite the arrival of these specific and diverse new musical categories, the few historical genres that remain in tact stand as
some of the most prominent and impactful types of music to be witnessed throughout time. One of these genres is rock. Characterized by guitar–led
melodies and synchronizing drum patterns, rock music has been a staple for international music since the early 1900's. However, despite its' popularity
throughout the decades, rock has undergone changes just as we recognize that society has. Initially a predominantly male–centered genre, rock music
has evolved into an arena available to anyone and everyone who presents their abilities to move people through the music they produce. The
introduction of women rock musicians was perhaps the most significant of these evolutions. Women changed the scope of the music industry by
allowing for the expansion of the rock 'n roll fanbase through newfound celebrity support for feminism and female empowerment, which was delivered
lyrically by these new women musicians. Women rockers represented the ability for females to be successful in society and glorify their independence
while they worked to achieve

Louis Armstrong, A Man Who Was The Most Influential...
When we are faced with the question of which men and women in human history have overcome oppression to achieve great things, we often come
up with names such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. or Mother Teresa. What do all of those individuals have in common? During their lives, such
individuals contributed greatly to social movements and encouraged society to be a more equal, open, and loving place. We often don't think about
people in other realms of society who have overcome oppression and have also changed facets of the society that we know today. One of these
individuals is Louis Armstrong, aka Satchmo. Arguably one of the most influential trumpet players in all of Jazz music, Louis Armstrong appears to be
a man who was able to accomplish fame with relative ease, when, in fact, Louis Armstrong faced many obstacles throughout his life that he had to
overcome, before he was able to change the history of the music industry in our country. The society that Louis Armstrong was born into reflected
extreme racial tensions and inequality that was present throughout the United States at the time, especially in the South. The combination of
segregation following Plessy vs. Ferguson (rationale of "separate but equal") and Jim Crow laws that were created to ensure that African Americans
were able to exercise as few rights as possible created a very negative atmosphere for Louis Armstrong to grow up in, in terms of racial relations
(Bergreen, 1997, p. 13). Growing up as an

Review Of Alice Marwick 's Status Update Essay
Book Review 2 – Status Update
Status Updates author Alice Marwick is an experienced academic observer of American online culture who subjectively weighs in on the new era of
media and where this social media phenomenon is in this country let alone the world. This book takes you on a personal journey sheading light on old
and new ideas such as, dot com era, Web 2.0, self– branding, Neoliberal capitalism, the up rise of micro celebrities, and online personas. Although
precisely written and full of extensive qualitative research, this book is mostly over opinionated and anecdotal. A good amount of what Marwick is
preaching isn't necessarily true and full of negative rhetoric towards men such as Gary Vaynerchuk, a self–branding guru who she actually dedicates a
part of her book too along with others. Most of the book is full of her first hand experiences in northern California tech start up hotbed areas where
most of her work was done by good journalism.
The dot com era took off around 1997 and peaked in 2002, this idea like the name suggests was based off of large investments in internet tech
companies whether they were profitable or not. Looking back, it's easy too say that there was a lack of common sense or a lack of urgency to make
money since it failed. Directly after Web 2.0 made its presents, and it wasn't new software for computers or a site you can visit rather a time for
social technology to improve. It was like an optimistic perception of a class being half full

The Album Dark Side Of The Moon By Pink Floyd
The album Dark Side of the moon by Pink Floyd is the most sold progressive rock album of all time, having sold over 40 million copies to date.
With this album it helped launch Pink Floyd into stardom. The album talks about the many trials and stresses one deals with in a modern life. The
major theme of the album is the unavoidable pressures in life we all must face even at a young age and how these pressures affect us.
The Album begins with the song "Speak to Me". The song "Speak to Me" starts with a heartbeat, which resents a baby in the womb and as the baby
gets closer to birth the heart beats faster. The song ends with a woman screaming (Clare Torry) which is the birth of the baby, it also noted that other
parts of the album are heard along with lines about insanity. The band was trying to convey that even before birth the pressures of life can't be avoided
and as the mother is going through so we will we. This song along with Breath help setup the theme of the album.
The song "Breathe" talks about the different stages of life we go through as we age, and most people's change of view point as they age. The song
lyrics start with "Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don 't be afraid to care. Leave but don 't leave me. Look around and choose your own ground." this relates to a person's child hood and a parent is
giving them advice. The parent is telling the child to enjoy life, do your own thing and figure out what you want but don't leave me. The parent wants

1.1Summarise the development of the UK popular music recording industry from the 1950's to the present day.
50's
The 1950's represent the beginning of the development of the music industry, as it is known today. It is from here on that the genre of 'popular music'
existed and began to dominate the charts. Of course, there were acts that existed before the 50's, and made a good name for them selves, acts like
Bing Crosby, but it was in the 50's that certain artists became household names, and idols to the masses.
The first, and most iconic of these artistes, is of course, Elvis Presley. After making a name for him self in the states, Elvis' music then began to cross

Playing the guitar in ways never seen before, Clapton was hailed as a god, and the genre of blues was re–instated into the music industry. Clapton then
went on to form the first 'super group'. In 1966, Cream were formed, and by combining Clapton's bluesy styles with the more rocky style of Jack
Bruce and Ginger Baker, Cream created a new genre of blues rock. Zepplin could also be credited for pioneering this genre. It was this genre that got
Cream and Zeppelin noticed in the US.
In 1964, Top of the Pops was born. Like previous music shows, it was a showcase of musical talent. The show went down brilliantly in the UK, with
mass numbers watching the show each week to catch a glimpse of their idols. All the current acts at the time were called to play on the show, and it
was great publicity for each act. Top of the Pops continued for many decades. Also in '64, new musical technologies were developed and brought to the
mainstream market, such things as organs. This allowed acts to create new sounds push the boundaries of popular music even further.
Into the 2nd half of the decade came the arrival of The Rolling Stones and The Who. These continued along the Blues Rock path pioneered by Cream
and Zeppelin, and both had great success. It was these acts that led to the nickname, 'the swinging 60's'. 1966 saw the beginning of psychedelic music.

monolith to all of psychedelic rock. The record is one big acid trip from start to finish, but we will choose one song, The Great Gig in the Sky, as
representative.
This particular version did not appear on the record and features recordings of NASA astronauts communicating during space missions, sans Clarry

Frank Sinatra Research Paper
Immortality is defined as eternal life. Frank Sinatra is one who will live forever. His music, his movies, his attitude, his eyes, whatever it is you
remember him for, all the same, he IS greatness. Few people come along in the course of life that can be labeled great, Frankie is the symbol of
greatness. Tens of millions of recordings, nine Grammys and two Academy Awards, over 60 films, worldwide tours, television specials, hundreds of
millions of dollars raised for charities. Sinatra passed the tests of time with grades better than though could be achieved, this is his story.......
Sinatra was born Dec. 12, 1915, the only child of working–class Italian–American immigrants, in a tenement at 415 Monroe St. in Hoboken. His father,
Anthony, was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In September 1942, Sinatra decided to go solo. A year later, he had his first lead movie role, in the musical "Higher and Higher," but he
didn't stay put in Hollywood. Instead, he toured as part of a concert series devoted to movie music; did two radio shows a week, including "Your
Hit Parade," and performed up and down the West Coast.
In November 1946, Columbia estimated that Sinatra was recording an average of twenty–four songs a year, enabling them to release one new Sinatra
record a month. Not a single band today can produce hit albums at the pace Sinatra did. A successful band today would be expected to produce
three records a year; Sinatra did four times that amount. In 1946 his records were selling at an annual rate of ten million per year. He had a
successful radio program and a film contract with M.G.M. He was at the peak of his popularity. "He's the one who made it possible for the
singer to be the star of the band," says jazz singer Jon Hendricks of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross.
During the World War II years, Sinatra ( who was exempted from service by a punctured eardrum ) and Axel Stordahl, his chief arranger and conductor,
introduced "Nancy (With the Laughin' Face)." Originally presented to Sinatra's oldest child on her fourth birthday, it became one of his
signature tunes in a period when he was king, that also brought forth "When Your Lover is Gone," "The

A Short Story : A Story?
I held my coffee as the passenger cup holder was occupied by a science experiment of fermenting orange juice in a weeks–old McDonald's cup. I
cracked the window to get some fresh air while we drove out of the Lincolnville neighborhood. It was too early for the trolley tourists and the cane
patrol sightseers. Likewise, the college students' first classes were still a few hours away. Aside from the modern vehicles, the streets looked as if
they had a hundred years ago. As we drove through the canopy of live oaks with hanging Spanish moss on a street littered with pedals from the
flowering crape myrtles, Gribble asked, "What are you going to do about your situation?" "What do you mean?" "The baby; is she getting rid of it?" I
became friends with Gribble in seventh grade French class when he and Jae Chang made fun of my horn–rimmed glasses by calling me Ernie Douglas,
the youngest son from the TV series 'My Three Sons'. I knocked out his two front teeth at gym class that day. I felt like doing it again. Instead, I
said, "She's keeping it." "Shit, man. She hooked you in good." I stared at him and wondered how bad the crash would be if I knocked him out right
now. "What you going to do about it?" he asked. He was being a nosey douche, but it was a question I'd been asking myself. "We both been kind of
avoiding the talk." I hesitated and looked out the window before finishing, "Probably nothing." "What? You? Going to be a Daddy?" Finding girls had
never been my problem but she was

My Passion In Music
My passion is music, and there isn't anything that beats it. I've always done it as a kid. I started off with guitar lessons at the age of 5 and just fell in
love with the idea of putting your emotion through chords and melodies. Although I may not have been a pro, I still enjoyed it no matter what. Later
on in my musical career, I realized a lot of music you create is all about owning what you do. And trials after trials made me the musician I am today.
Our band named Saluda formerly named Rescue Party grew up in high school together playing gigs every other night at the town's bars. It wasn't
that hard to get these gigs because we were really the only band in our town, Spartanburg. Our very first gig was at this small bar with about 5 or 6
people in the audience. Half of them weren't even listening but it was the first time we could say we made money because of music, and that really
got us motivated. We barely knew what we were doing most of the time because we were just kids and had no knowledge about the live music scene.
We finally graduated and half ofthe band was in high school and the other half college. It made us practice a lot less, but we grew a lot in our
instruments. As I went through my first year in college I became way more into the music. I was practicing 5 hours everyday on covers and originals.
This was making me grow so much as a musician.
Then we got our first big gig opening for the act Daya. We stressed a lot about this gig and practiced

  • 1. Website Comparison Introduction I have chosen two of the biggest broadband and telecommunication companies in Ireland for this website comparison. O2 and Vodafone are both leading distributors of mobile services for individuals and corporate clients providing them with solutions in communications. They are the two biggest competitors in the mobile networking industry in Ireland constituting for 88% of the total market. This market percentage is split between Vodafone andO2, 48% and 40% respectively. I have chosen these two websites for comparison for a number of reasons. I have been a frequent user of both sites, and am interested in the industry. The main reason however I selected these websites is due to the substantial differences in theme and ... Underneath these options again are more offers specifying O2's current most popular deals. The most popular deals have clearly labelled prices on all of the phones. Browsing through the shop is easy, and informative. The main specifications and advantages of each product are clearly placed beside a picture of that product and the price is also clearly labelled. If you actually select the phone the user is redirected to another page which describes in depth specifications, main features and pricing plans. Some of the specifications are interactive and offer a visual 3D experience where they can rotate the phone with their mouse. This ensures that the user is confident with their purchase. In some cases, demos are available to watch how the product operates. Overall the shop provides some great interactive features and effectively utilises and takes advantage the capabilities of Adobe flash player. One of the more interesting features of the O2 website is its partner websites. From navigating through the webpage there are often sections with links to some of O2's separate projects. Examples of these are 02thinkbig.ie where the user is redirected to a section created to encourage young innovators. The mission statement for the O2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When these roles are made available to other members of society to enter into and play out, the reciprocal interactions are said to be institutionalized. In the process of this institutionalization, meaning is embedded in society. The society is formed by certain objectives or norms that they all have in common. This is the reason why they become institutionalized in the first place. It is important to keep in mind that the objectivity of the institutional world, however massive it may appear to the individual, is a humanly produced, constructed objectivity. The process by which the externalized products of human activity attain the character of objectivity is called objectivation. The institutional world is objectivated by human activity, and so is every single institution. In other words, despite the objectivity that marks the social world in human experience, it does not thereby acquire an ontological status apart from the human activity that produced it. At the same point, the institutionalized world also requires legitimation, that is, ways by which it can be "explained" and justified. This is not because it appears less real. Those are key questions that many are asking, and don't truly have answers for. Many people in the country feel that there is way too much regulation on the economy at this point; however, there's also a great amount of people who are content with how much regulation is going on, and would keep pushing. Essentially there are two extremes when it comes to the topic of regulation and what too much of it will do to the economy. Too much regulation on the economy can have a negative impact in many ways. In Texas each person who is a computer repair technician is required to obtain a private investigator's license, or a PI license. The only way two ways for and individual to receive a PI license is to either go to school and earn a degree in criminal justice (CJ), or they are required to take part in a three year apprenticeship with an individual who is already a licensed PI. Considering that there are individuals who just repair computers on the side or want to just help a friend or someone else out simply because they possess the skill set is also not an option. Any person who repairs a computer without possessing a license, and any person who lets someone without the PI license repairs their computer are both violating laws. Pink Floyd formed their band in the mid 1960s. At this point the band was considered an acid rock band Playing small shows, halls, and house parties. Underground celebrities in England Pink Floyd shows were riddled with drug use. Fans would consume LSD before the show to experience the psychedelic experience. Next, they sing "i'll see you on the dark side of the moon" which is their way of saying i'll see you on the other side. The song also hints towards the madness that is Syd. "The lunatic is in my head" seems to be a hint of schizophrenia. This becomes very clear it is when he says "there's someone in my head but it's not me". Syds schizophrenia has had an everlasting effect on pink floyd. Shortly after, another shout out to Syd comes out in the lyrics "if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, i'll see you on the dark side of the moon". With only two weeks of experience I had a gig in front of a hundred people. Like many first gigs, the stage plays tricks on you and makes you feel inferior. Stage fright had to go away at some point, so I decided for it to be this Saturday night. Countless of hours put into this one night, I would practice day in and day out. There was something for me to prove. You don't have to be naturally talented and experienced to become successful or to perform at a high level. You worked so hard and pushed yourself to prove a point. Although that may be true, you worked so hard not only for success but also for the enjoyment of performing." My dad had turned his back on me and faded away. I stood still thinking about what he has told me. There was a better reason to why I stood up so late and practiced so much. From the beginning, playing an instrument was a wonderful experience. With a confident look and a brighter self–esteem. I was ready to rock n roll! I treasured the moment. I put on my shades and walked across the hall with a determined look. I made my way backstage and was suddenly called to the stage. The spotlight was brighter than the suns ray. Different Types of Gothic Horror Essay In "The Judge's House" written by Bram Stoker, the story takes place at an evil judge's house that has hanged people, and a student named Malcomson is just staying there for a few days despite being warned not to. Strange occurrences begin with rats disturbing Malcomson while he is staying there but particularly a rat with red eyes sticks out to him. Lastly the element of transformation is shown at the end when the judge appears from the painting. Recently, people are associating trigger warnings with people who get upset when someone has different views than they do and want nothing to do with a topic they don't agree with. Time leads us to disparity as it has separate phases: past, present, and future, and in these phases we perceive difference. Yet in disparity we find madness and calm of mind– it is these states which the album The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd addresses by showing the phases of life in the first half and various aspects of life in the second half. Pink Floyd's album The Dark Side of the Moon shows us the fullness of the experience of life by shining light on time and integral parts of disparity in the physical world: wealth, states of being, etc., and does so through its lyrical and sound based content as well as its circular tale. Tells the listener that there are not clear lines in conflict, things cannot be narrowed down to black and blue. This line also shows that even in the disparity which forms the foundation of our very lives, there is still a sense of unity. "Any Color you Like" follows after Us and Them, and is purely instrumental, albeit still very important to the meaning of the album. The varying pitch and instrumental use shows the varying degrees of decision within this very life. The penultimate song "Brain Damage" displays the fulfillment of insanity in both the inner and outer world through lines like "The lunatic is on the grass" and "The lunatics are in my hall." The song also hints that the outer world's perceived insanity becomes a part of you and that you are no longer you. Emergence of different sub–styles has become increasingly popular over the past decade, especially considering the rise of pop music and now electronic dance. However despite the arrival of these specific and diverse new musical categories, the few historical genres that remain in tact stand as some of the most prominent and impactful types of music to be witnessed throughout time. One of these genres is rock. Characterized by guitar–led melodies and synchronizing drum patterns, rock music has been a staple for international music since the early 1900's. However, despite its' popularity throughout the decades, rock has undergone changes just as we recognize that society has. Initially a predominantly male–centered genre, rock music has evolved into an arena available to anyone and everyone who presents their abilities to move people through the music they produce. We often don't think about people in other realms of society who have overcome oppression and have also changed facets of the society that we know today. More importantly, influential music from that band produced a great change in society from their music – with only five–thousand words, twenty–five songs, three people, and one band – who changed it all. Later that year in 1978, Miles heard the song Roxanne and graced them with a record deal from A&M Records, this song was later banned along with another song, "Can't Stand Losing You", from their first album, Outlandos d'Amour, because they portrayed vulgar topics. • 32. Review Of Alice Marwick 's Status Update Essay Book Review 2 – Status Update Status Updates author Alice Marwick is an experienced academic observer of American online culture who subjectively weighs in on the new era of media and where this social media phenomenon is in this country let alone the world. This book takes you on a personal journey sheading light on old and new ideas such as, dot com era, Web 2.0, self– branding, Neoliberal capitalism, the up rise of micro celebrities, and online personas. Although precisely written and full of extensive qualitative research, this book is mostly over opinionated and anecdotal. A good amount of what Marwick is preaching isn't necessarily true and full of negative rhetoric towards men such as Gary Vaynerchuk, a self–branding guru who she actually dedicates a part of her book too along with others. Most of the book is full of her first hand experiences in northern California tech start up hotbed areas where most of her work was done by good journalism. The dot com era took off around 1997 and peaked in 2002, this idea like the name suggests was based off of large investments in internet tech companies whether they were profitable or not. Looking back, it's easy too say that there was a lack of common sense or a lack of urgency to make money since it failed. Directly after Web 2.0 made its presents, and it wasn't new software for computers or a site you can visit rather a time for social technology to improve. It was like an optimistic perception of a class being half full ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Album Dark Side Of The Moon By Pink Floyd The album Dark Side of the moon by Pink Floyd is the most sold progressive rock album of all time, having sold over 40 million copies to date. With this album it helped launch Pink Floyd into stardom. The album talks about the many trials and stresses one deals with in a modern life. The major theme of the album is the unavoidable pressures in life we all must face even at a young age and how these pressures affect us. The Album begins with the song "Speak to Me". The song "Speak to Me" starts with a heartbeat, which resents a baby in the womb and as the baby gets closer to birth the heart beats faster. The song ends with a woman screaming (Clare Torry) which is the birth of the baby, it also noted that other parts of the album are heard along with lines about insanity. The band was trying to convey that even before birth the pressures of life can't be avoided and as the mother is going through so we will we. This song along with Breath help setup the theme of the album. The song "Breathe" talks about the different stages of life we go through as we age, and most people's change of view point as they age. The song lyrics start with "Breathe, breathe in the air. Don 't be afraid to care. Leave but don 't leave me. Look around and choose your own ground." this relates to a person's child hood and a parent is giving them advice. It is from here on that the genre of 'popular music' existed and began to dominate the charts. Of course, there were acts that existed before the 50's, and made a good name for them selves, acts like Bing Crosby, but it was in the 50's that certain artists became household names, and idols to the masses. In 1966, Cream were formed, and by combining Clapton's bluesy styles with the more rocky style of Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, Cream created a new genre of blues rock. Zepplin could also be credited for pioneering this genre. It was this genre that got Cream and Zeppelin noticed in the US. In 1964, Top of the Pops was born. Like previous music shows, it was a showcase of musical talent. The show went down brilliantly in the UK, with mass numbers watching the show each week to catch a glimpse of their idols. All the current acts at the time were called to play on the show, and it was great publicity for each act. Top of the Pops continued for many decades. Also in '64, new musical technologies were developed and brought to the mainstream market, such things as organs. This allowed acts to create new sounds push the boundaries of popular music even further. Into the 2nd half of the decade came the arrival of The Rolling Stones and The Who. These continued along the Blues Rock path pioneered by Cream and Zeppelin, and both had great success. Bike is a Syd Barrett masterpiece which appears on The Piper At the Gates of Dawn (1967). Ostensibly written for Syd's then girlfriend "Jenny Spires," we take a quixotic notion that the song references, if not deliberately, then synchronistically, the first self administered dose of LSD. In 1943, inventor of LSD Albert Hoffman intentionally ingested 250 micrograms of LSD to determine its effects. He subsequently took a bicycle ride during which he succumbed to the drugs effects causing him to feel anxiety, a sense of going insane, and the belief that his neighbor was a malevolent witch. The events of this first LSD trip have come to be known as "Bicycle Day." In November 1946, Columbia estimated that Sinatra was recording an average of twenty–four songs a year, enabling them to release one new Sinatra record a month. • 44. My Passion In Music My passion is music, and there isn't anything that beats it. I've always done it as a kid. I started off with guitar lessons at the age of 5 and just fell in love with the idea of putting your emotion through chords and melodies. Although I may not have been a pro, I still enjoyed it no matter what. Later on in my musical career, I realized a lot of music you create is all about owning what you do. And trials after trials made me the musician I am today. Our band named Saluda formerly named Rescue Party grew up in high school together playing gigs every other night at the town's bars. It wasn't that hard to get these gigs because we were really the only band in our town, Spartanburg. Our very first gig was at this small bar with about 5 or 6 people in the audience. Half of them weren't even listening but it was the first time we could say we made money because of music, and that really got us motivated. We barely knew what we were doing most of the time because we were just kids and had no knowledge about the live music scene. We finally graduated and half ofthe band was in high school and the other half college. It made us practice a lot less, but we grew a lot in our instruments. As I went through my first year in college I became way more into the music. I was practicing 5 hours everyday on covers and originals. This was making me grow so much as a musician. Then we got our first big gig opening for the act Daya. We stressed a lot about this gig and practiced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
