INTRODUCTION
Evolution theories have been around for a long time. There have also been a lot of old– and young Earth creationism arguments. These theories and
arguments are discussed in this paper.
ATHEISTIC EVOLUTION
Atheistic evolution can be defined as a belief that everything was created without any supernatural phenomenon (God). Atheistic evolution is thus
basically the opposite of theistic evolution. One of the most well–known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Exodus 20:11 : "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day.
Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it." This verse is found in the middle part of the TРµn CommandmРµnts. God told the
Israelites that the reason they had to work six days and rest on the seventh day, is because He created everything and rested on the seventh day. It is
thus not realistic to think we have to work for six long periods (millions of years) and rest for another long period. The Bible also states that Jesus
woke up three days after his crucifixion, which could not mean millions of years.
Meredith Kline, from Westminster Theological Seminary proposed that Genesis should be interpreted metaphorically and not literally like most of us
do. Old Earth creationists believe that scientific evidence cannot be overlooked. Scientists use the method of radiometric aging from meteorite material
to determine the age of Earth. Fossils were found that are much older than a few thousand years, for example dinosaurs.
PERSONAL VIEW
I personally believe in biblical evolution. Science has an explanation for how life is evolving but does not have a valid explanation of how life initially
began, that is where science and Christianity are compatible. Christianity can

Age Of The Earth Research Paper
The debate about the age of the Earth has persisted for centuries! Some scientists try to disprove Christians and some Christians try to disprove
scientific evidence. Nevertheless, there is a surprising number of Christians and scientists who have worked together to give their opinion about the
age of the Earth by using both Biblical and scientific facts. The purpose of this essay is to succinctly describe both Old Earth and Young Earth
viewpoints. My opinion about the matter will follow, in which I will provide Biblical evidence to support my claims. Young Earth Creationists (YEC)
strongly believe that the time frame presented in the Bible is to be taken literally. Therefore, the majority of YEC believe that the Earth is 6,000 to

I support the idea that the Earth is truly 4.6 billion years old because I believe that the Bible uses the word "days" when discussing creation
because we can wrap our brain around God's time period. "A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the
night." Psalm 90:4 (NIV). This verse sums up exactly what I believe: that God's time scale is different than the time scale we experience, therefore,
a day to us could easily be a thousand years, or more to God. My next premise is that when God created the Garden of Eden and all of the creatures
of the Earth that the Garden of Eden was a very sacred place. Therefore, I believe that very early humans, such as cavemen were created outside of
the garden because God was experimenting to see which specimen would be perfect for ruling the Earth. Though this process of trial and error, God
decided that he needed to create a man who possessed similar qualities as He, because He is perfect. "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image,
in our likeness...'" Genesis 1:26 (NIV). Furthermore, I propose that it was the Great Flood that caused the mass amount of dinosaurs to die. My theory
is that once it began to rain, massive landslides began occurring on the Earth's surface. It was these landslides that

Young Earth Theory
Based on the lose interpretation of the Bible mentioned earlier, leads to the question on How old is Earth? Some may argue that earth is only 6,000
to 10,00 years old (young earth creationism) other argue that earth really 4.6 to 13.7 billion years old (Old earth creationism) and lastly other argue
God used to evolution when it came to creation (Theistic theory). Youngearth theory takes Genesis literal, meaning that this theory believes creations
happened in six days and God rested on the seventh. Adam and Eve are also looked as historical figures. When it comes to argument from old earth
creationism its interpretation of genesis 1–2 allow for lose interpretation. Its states that the grammar presented in the bible allow for a blurred line

Introduction It should be easy to say that the Earth was created by a higher power. For a Christian this higher power is God. The Bible gives us the
six day creation of the heavens and the Earth and all that dwell upon it. For anyone else, the higher power is some unknown power that science is still
trying to figure out. There are a lot of theories in science about how the Earth was created. One of these theories is the big bang theory. The essay will
compare the two theories and show how different they are.
Old Earth View In the old Earth view of the original creation of Earth we are told about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Young Earth View To believe in the young Earth theory, is to believe in the Bible. Those that believe in the Bible believe in a literal six day
creation for the Earth and all that are upon it. When God spoke the world was brought into existence. On the sixth day God created Adam and Eve.
He gave them dominion over all the animals and plants that he created. It wasn't until the fall of man that any of the animals would start to die and
decay. Another belief of a young Earth is the flood of Noah. Many of the young Earth creationists believe in the flood geology. "Instead of the
millions of years requires to create fossil fuels such as coal, flood geologists claim that they were formed within a year under the tremendous pressure
of the Noachin floodwaters." (Koperski, 2006) In the book of Genesis we are given the creation account as well as the account of the flood. "In the six
hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same say were all the fountains of the great deep broken up
and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the Earth forty days and forty nights." (KJV, Genesis 6:11
–12)
If the waters came not only from the sky, but also from deep in the Earth, this would explain the strata layers and also the fossil layers of marine
animals found is places where there is no water.

Creationism
Bobby Rappach 11–1–12 Mr. Boyle Creationism The concept of Creationism has been around since a monotheistic Abrahamic God. It is nothing
more than a literal interpretation of the creation story of Genesis as a basis for the creation of everything in the universe. Until the early 1500's it was
the common belief that the world was flat and this is one the only exceptions that creationist sects have excepted when it comes to modern day science
along with the earth not being the center of the universe. Today's definition can be understood as Christianity and Catholicism until the years
surrounding 1500AD. Even after such discoveries it had a large amount of belief compared to new scientific discoveries. As scientific advances over...

In geology, instead of the Earth's rock layers forming over millions of years they believe that Noah's Great Flood brought upon the shape of
mountains and diverse amounts of hills, valleys, plateaus etc. One of the greatest controversies when it comes to creationists is the idea of
dinosaurs and humans. Today the average person could tell you that dinosaurs were around before humans, but not creationists. They believe that
along with other animals, dinosaurs were brought on Noah's Ark and died out due to rapid climate change. Since dinosaurs were not mentioned in
the bible, they were referred to as dragons, behemoths, and leviathans brings upon the idea in their mind that they lived along side the ancient
people mentioned in the bible. In this they denounce the geology of dating rocks and fossils by criticizing the formula used to date them back
millions of years. In chemistry they have said that the carbon dating of radioactive isotopes is incorrect because of the lack of 100% accuracy
while being relatively close, they have created there own formula which no matter how they date it, it will always come to a conclusion of less
than 10,000 years ago. Away from the science controversy in their belief, on a theological level they believe most of the same views as Catholics.
There are three persons in one God as well as Jesus being born of the Virgin Mary. Also, they believe in the resurrection as well as Satan being an

Arguments Over The Earth's Age In The Bible
Arguments over the age of the Earth have sometimes been divisive for people who regard the Bible as God's word. Even though the Earth's age is
never mentioned in the Bible, it is an issue because those who take a strictly literal view of the early chapters of Genesis can calculate an approximate
date for the creation by adding up the life–spans of the people mentioned in the genealogies. Assuming a strictly literal interpretation of the week of
creation, even if some of the generations were left out of the genealogies, the Earth would be less than ten thousand years old. Radiometric dating
techniques indicate that the Earth is thousands of times older than that––approximately four and a half billion years old. Many Christians accept this and

A Christian At The Age Of 14
Author Information: (see attached resume for additional information) I became a Christian at the age of 14, partly as a result of being taught
evolution in public school. Learning about evolution made me very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a result of a
series of random accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear gospel presentation and trusted Christ as my savior as a freshman in
high school. Since that time, I have had an avid interest in the scientific evidence that proves the biblical creation account true and evolution false. I
worked for 35 plus years as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Initially, as a research hydrologist studying the quantity and
quality of river water. I later moved into water science management positions and lastly served as an executive responsible for the all the surface–water
related activities of the USGS in the U.S.A. As an executive, I was also designated as the Delaware River Master. As River Master, I administered
the provisions of the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court Decree allocating the waters of the Delaware River. My career with the USGS has provided me with a
wealth of education and experience in all aspects fresh–water related science and science management. During my career with the USGS, I authored or
co–authored about 40 scientific and lay reader reports, proceedings paper, and abstracts. Since becoming a Christian, I have had a keen interest in

John Macarthur 's The Myth Of Creationism
Introduction John Macarthur is a best–selling author and pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California. He is the current president of
The Master's College and Seminary. He also has a national syndicated radio program Grace to You. I believe the author 's intention was to debunk the
myth of evolution. John MacArthur addresses creation from a Biblical standpoint. The book targets a primarily a Christian audience and makes a
strong case for a literal six–day creation. This is not a book that fundamentally concentrates on persuading unbelieving evolutionists of creationism, yet
rather it focuses on convincing Christians who trust that in some type of advancement, (for example, old–earth creationism or the Gap Theory) that the
primary perusing of Genesis one and two is a strict perusing. MacArthur constructs a significant part of the book with respect to the view that Evolution
is itself a religion that is entirely contradicted to Christianity. Creationism and Evolution, along these lines, can never be blended. We should have faith
in it is possible that either.
Subsequent to giving numerous reasons why Evolutionism is contradictory to God and His outline, the book spends a section on each of the days of
creation. In every part, the creator demonstrates why something besides an exacting six–day creation is outlandish. In this manner, he gives important
cases of the miracles and wonders of creation. A large part of the book is centered around disproving

The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day
Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be maintained that the first three days are days in the sense that we now
understand them? Our current day is delineated via the earth's rotation in relation to the Sun – no Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the passage itself says
this, for it says in Gen. 1:14: "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be . . . for days". It
may be objected that, regardless of whether or not we had a distant object in relation to which we might measure the progression of the earth's rotation,
it nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by no means clear, for the text itself maintains that the earth was radically and
fundamentally different at that time, being "without form and void" (v. 2). As such, any claim that the earth's rotation then was similar to what it is
now is based on an assumption: namely, that in spite of the fact that the earth itself was physically different, natural processes such as its rotation were
the same then as now.
This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled against those who adhere to other interpretations of the days (and
correspondingly, the age of the earth) by those with whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar–day interpretation frequently charge those with
whom they disagree, whether secular scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural processes in

The following claim states that it can give evidence that all animals and humans originated from occupants of the ark. The people could have
descended from the ark inhabitants, but scientist lack evidence on the animals descending from the ark. Finding the ark does not give evidence of the
ancestry of all creatures. One way to refute this is consider the Koala in Australia. How did this earthly animal travel to Australia once the ark settled?
Traveling this distance would be impossible nevertheless because the flood was local Koalas did not need to be on the ark. Furthermore, the author
asserts that locating ark remains forces paleontologists to re–decipher fossils as an effect of the flood, not of many years buildup. Old–earth creationists
relates fully with the geological proof of the arks old age existence. There are no findings of the ark, although several informants alleged to have
seen it. In reality the ark will never be located, most likely it no longer exists. Noah maybe used the ark wood for rebuilding the society. God
declared to Noah never again would He destroy the world with water. Noah was clear he had no use for the ark maybe he dismantled it for
constructing material. Moreover, creation theorists Baumgardner, and Barnett claim after the flood the land would have resembled a lifeless
wilderness deprived of trees and plants. If the plant and tree seeds floated after the flood it would still take many years

Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System
There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with the same conclusion: neither side changed at all.
Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying religious
claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of "Jesus Christ" written in the bible. They believe god created the earth in seven
days and that he will soon send his son, Jesus to earth to take the faithful to heaven. Deep analyzation of evolution, creationism, and the bible will
surely reveal the truth. Evolution, is basically "decent with modification", this applies to microevolution and macroevolution.
(www.evolution.berkeley.edu) Evolution, when on a smaller scale is defined as microevolution; an example would be the house sparrows.
Depending on the location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from the cold while others are lighter to
withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution it's almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short
timespan required for it to take place. The controversy begins when you get into macroevolution which is evolution on a much bigger scale. Usually
referring to a change in species, this cannot be observed because it takes longer than one lifespan to detect. We are able to observe small modifications;
it should be common sense that over

appearance of being older, old–earth creationists reject the "appearance of age" concept mentioned earlier in this paper. Wayne Grudem asks the
question, "Why would God create so many different indications of an earth that is 4.5 billion years old if this were not true?" Wayne Grudem,

The Evolution Of Young Earth Creationism
Young earth creationism is what most people mean when referring to "creationism." This is primarily due to the fact that the creationists most visible
in the public eye during the creation–evolution debate were most likely to hold young earth creationist views. Additionally, the terms "recent earth" or
"recent creation" have been used to refer to this same position. These terms clearly define their position as one in which the creation of the world
occurred somewhat recently, that is, the world is young. However, it obviously doesn 't provide us with much information beyond that. To begin with,
how young is the world? In order to help answer this and other questions concerning young earth creationism, biologist and philosopher of science ...

The next point Nelson and Reynolds make is one of disagreement between young earth and progressive creationists. Concerning the impact of the
curse in Genesis 3, young earth creationists typically view this point to be the entrance of all death and suffering to the world. Progressive
creationists, however, consider there to be a long period of time between the creation of the world and the introduction of sin into the world. Because
of this length of time, progressive creationists consider animal death and suffering to have occurred long before the first humans sinned. The question
of animal death and suffering prior to the fall of mankind is one that will be discussed in further detail when looking at the old earth positions
According to Nelson and Reynolds, the strongest point of contention between young earth and progressive creationists is that of the flood. Young earth
creationists generally view the account of the flood as actually having occurred. Other positions, however, progressive included, consider it a metaphor,
or myth which has theological implications, but does not describe any actual historical events.

Animal Death Vs. Old-Earth Creationism
Animal death before the fall may not be found in any of the early Christian's church's orthodox, but when it comes to the argument over young or
old–earth creationism, it can be a very defining issue. Old–earth creationists believe animal death was part of God's creation before Adam and Eve were
even created, while young–earth creationists reject all death before the Fall. The Old–Earth Creationist view is that Adam's sin led to his spiritual
death, which was then followed eventually by his physical death. Before Adam was created, animal death was not related to man's salvation or
Christ's atonement on the cross. The scriptural support for theses claims are pointed out in the following verses. In Genesis 2:17 it is written, "For in
the day that you eat from it you shall surely die." In this warning to Adam there was no mention of animal death. Adam was the person whom God was
speaking to in this verse. Both John MacArthur, who is a young–earth creationist, and Gleason Archer, an old–earth creationist, agree in the sense that
this verse was communicating a spiritual death to Adam, followed by his physical death hundreds of years later. (John MacArthur, The Battle for the

different views of how the world was created? From my understanding the Bible defines exactly how the world was created in the book of Genesis yet

Introduction
Many people today have their thoughts on how the Earth was created. Christians take a biblical perspective of how the universe was created by a
creator. One thought that Christians believe is that God created the earth and accomplished this in six days and rested on the seventh day. This is the
model of how a week is set up and the model that we currently follow. Jon W. Green states "though differences of opinion exist for various doctrinal
issues within Christianity, few are more divisive than controversies surrounding the days of creation and the age of the Earth." As stated previously
many people have thoughts and are curious as to how the Earth itself came into existence. When it comes to the scientific community there ... Show

(Mortenson, 2011) Young Earth Creationist believe in the idea of the Hebrew word Yom. (Morris, 2011) This word translates to mean a literal
day and is used in Genesis to describe each day of creation. We as Christians must take the Bible as true, this being the whole bible including the
Old Testament. In regards to the age of the Earth, young earth creationist take Genesis 5 as a genealogy of the Earth. The genealogies of Genesis 5
as well as 11 give people an idea of the years and happenings from Adam to Abraham. Scholars can mostly agree that Abraham lived about 2000 BC.
All of these facts then set the date of creation at approximately 6000 years ago. (Mortenson, 2011)
Old – Earth View
In response to the young earth six day creation of the Earth idea, secular scientist have developed the idea of the Big Bang theory. According to the big
bang theory, the universe began by expanding from a minuscule volume that possessed extremely high density as well as extreme temperatures.
Initially the universe was significantly smaller than a pore on your skin. (Takahashi, 2000 ) It is thought that this happened about 10–20 billion years
ago. According to Yuki D. Takahasi (2000) in his article "Big Bang: How did the Universe begin?" He states 3 main observations that point to truth in
the Big Bang Theory. Number one is astronomers have found that the universe continues to expand which means that the

Old Earth, Or Progressive Creationism
Another position is old earth, or progressive creationism, which does share some similarities with theistic evolution – primarily, that it places the age of
the earth at 4–5 billion years ago and the universe at 10–20 billion years ago. However, old earth creationists are not satisfied with the claim that
God–guided evolution brought the world into existence, eventually arriving at the world we live in today. Robert C. Newman, an astrophysicist and
New Testament professor, acknowledges that it would be possible for God to use evolution as a creative tool, just as it is possible that God created
solely through supernatural means. However, he thinks that there are too many unanswered questions left for both positions. It is from this conviction
that Newman places himself in the progressive creationist camp. This view is named so on account of the fact that it sees creation as occurring in a
progression with various levels which were built upon one another, using a combination of supernatural intervention and providential guidance to
harmonize the histories found in both the biblical account of Genesis and the scientific account we find in nature. Newman is quick to point out that
there are quite a few variations of the old earth creationist position. Of these, however, he finds three main varieties, which differ primarily in their
views on the nature of the days of the creation week. These three categories are: (1) The day–age view. As implied by the title, this view

reasonable. Creationist say that there are over three ways that the Grand Canyon was formed. The three ways were the biblical and historical flood,
layers of sediment rock being layer down over thousands of years, and the one and only God created to be there for a purpose. The first and main

In early February of this year there was a much publicized debate between Bill Nye of early 90's "Bill Nye the Science Guy" television fame and
the CEO of Answers in Genesis, Ken Ham. The topic of debate was whether or not a creationists model of origins is viable given the modern
scientific era. This topic was one of great interest to many people as evidenced by the nearly eight hundred thousand individuals who viewed the
debate online by way of an internet live stream, not to mention the fact that the video of the debate has been viewed on YouTube over three and a
half million times. Its exposure alone makes it of great interest and should cause our ears to perk up. The content of this debate has been widely
accessed and like it or not, many people were influenced by either of these two men, if not both. Given the influence of the celebrity status of Mr. Nye
among the secular community and the widely popular evangelical Mr. Ham, both the church and the secular community were tuning in for this debate.
So depending on the results and the methodology used, this could have either been very beneficial for the church or very detrimental, which is all the

The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything
The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically and scientifically, when compared to the other
positions of theism and New World creationism. This is due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant
proofs that their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the other creationism viewpoints. It does not deny
the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1–2, saying that they do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its
own belief from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded upon with the explanation of the six days of
creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are an extended period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical
timeline, but it being a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also justifies the scientific outlook on the creation story. Like
how humanity is always discovering new substances and species, information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. When compared to the
other viewpoints of creationism, the Old World position has the most evidence. New World and theistic approaches to the origin story have their own
pros and cons, but they both have glaring weaknesses. They both ignore and deny the existence of evidence from the other viewpoints. The

only concern is science education at the elementary level. What everybody's worried about is making sure you've got reading, writing,
arithmetic." Nye feels that if children are not properly educated at a young age on evolution, they will become indoctrinated from their parents or
a religious group. He also says that," Creationist kids are compelled to suppress their common sense and to suppress their critical thinking skills.

Creationism Vs Old Earth Research Paper
Astronomers and geologists have determined that Earth is definitely over billions of years old. This conclusion is not based on just one measurement
and a number that comes up on a computer screen but on many types of evidence. Here I will try my very best to describe the evidence of how
scientists have calculated the age of Earth. These methods are largely independent of each other and the history behind this is much longer than 10000
years. Many people have their beliefs. As I am coming from a Christian family, the concept of Earth was that a God that I believe in was the creator of
the Earth. There is two creationism known as Young Earth and Old Earth.
Both creationism seems to have both science and the relationship of the Bible in regard

Old Earth Creationism Research Paper
As stated previously stated old earth creationism is a form of creationism that is based off of the contents of Genesis and does use scientific
theories to support itself. The main idea of old earth creationism is that just about everything that happened in Genesis from the Bible is true, but
while it is true it is not completely accurate or even in the correct order. What this means is that while Genesis does say everything happens over
the course of a week or a seven day period, it does not specify how long a day is. This means that a day could be anywhere from one hundred and sixty
eight hours to a few million years. If each day in Genesis is a few million years then that would mean that the bible does partially agree with the big

In Genesis in the Bible, the order in which the universe and everything that lives in it was created started when God said the phrase "Let there be
light!" and continued with the creation of the seas and the creation of dryland after this God created plants and trees, then he created the sun and
moon. Next he began creating life, he began with the animals of the sea and the animals of the air, after this he created land animals, and finally he
created human beings. Logically this does not make sense because it states the God created light, plants, and trees before he created the stars, this is
where old earth creationism comes into place, but this was already stated in the previous paragraph, why this is being mentioned is that old earth
creationism also relates to how life in the universe was created. While the events that took place in Genesis relating to the creation of life are
believable, the only problem is how long it took God to create all the life in the universe and the fact that a fishes, birds, land animals, and humans
could not have each spontaneously appeared, this is why old earth creationism was mentioned again. Not only does old earth creationism relate to this,
but also evolution. As stated in one of the previous

Introduction
This is a comparative essay and its purpose is to compare old–Earth and young–Earth viewpoints on Dating the rocks of the Grand Canyon. There are
different views on this and no scientific method that can prove (completely) the age of the universe or the earth. There are the use of different types
of calculations that can provide some guesses on the age of the earth. Many things need to be assumed such as a beginning date and the speed of
change along with varying increases and decreases of material over time. "Young–Earth Creationism" (YEC) is based on a precept that earth and the
universe were created by God, only 6,000 years ago in six days. Their position is that by examining geological records the scientific details of ... Show

Mainstream science make predictions based on varies tests. For instance, one of the test said that in a certain geological eras some animals should have
transitioned from fish to amphibians. This helped the scientists find just such fossils in that era. Old–Earth seculars believe "tree rings over 6000 years
old, thick layers of limestone, and the sequence of animal fossils in rock layers" are evidence for an Old–Earth view.
A description of the grand canyon rock layers would include the Colorado River running at the bottom of the inner gorge with flats on both sides

Creationism : Creationism And Creationism
The creation of how the world came to be has been told through many different stories. All around the world there are arguments on what is right and
wrong when it comes to creationism. There are different ways to look at creationism. There's young earth creationism, old earth creationism, intelligent
design, and theistic creationism. The first known use of creationism was in 1880. In a washington post poll studies found that 58% of Americans
believe in creationism, while 42% believe in evolution. Different types of creationism can have different effects on society today. It divides society on
account of different people have their own views on creationism and the people who have the same vision of creationism will come together, but
people with different visions on creationism will disagree.
The lexical definition that most people find when they look up creationism is, the belief that God created all things out of nothing as described in the
Bible and that therefore the theory of evolution is incorrect. (Webster) Lexical definitions are definitions provided in dictionaries. Evolutionists believe
that a natural process and multiple environmental factors are responsible for the different forms of life on Earth today. Unlike evolutionists, creationists
believe that God created the Earth within the last ten thousand years. Young Earth creationismis the religious belief that Earth and all life on it were
created by direct acts of God. This is said to have happened

The Grand Canyon By Henry Morris
There is a famous saying that goes something like: if you take God out of the picture, there will be no answer. However, many people take God or
gods out of the many aspects of their lives. Now, if God is mentioned in a debate or topic, it creates controversies and is specifically targeted by critics.
Topics or questions such as evolution or the origins of the universe have long been debated, studied, and researched. Starting in the 19th century,
evolution has been a long debated popular topic among many people. A major 20th Century alternative belief to evolution is scientificcreationism. This
became prevalent through the leading institute for promoting, forming, and researching the doctrine of scientific creationism: the Institute of ... Show

It is the belief that the world is around ten thousand years old. The idea or belief is far from the findings of science which calculate the age of the
earth to be around five billion years old. The data considered solid by scientists such as the astronomical measurements on stars, dating of rocks, and
the reconstructions of the history of life on the planet are based on the calculation that the earth is five billion years old. Almost all of the things that
science has researched and discovered are based on the calculation that the earth is around five billion years old, but scientific creationism argues
against all of the proof and claims that the earth is young.
The age of the earth, in the eyes of scientific creationism, is calculated first by creating a genealogical table. Starting with Adam, the man considered to
be the first human, the genealogy should be studied until the birth of Christ. This will give you the approximate age of the earth. However, there is
another controversial topic: the length of the day. Scientific creationism believes that the length of the day in Genesis chapter one is a literal 24 hour
day, however there are other theories that the day might be longer and may not even be confined within the human realm."
The belief that the world is roughly ten thousand years old became widespread mostly because of the scientific creationists convincing people

The Age Of The Earth
The Age of The Earth
For decades the age of the Earth has been a major conflict between science and religion, but why is it such a big conflict? If, in the year AD 1600, an
individual had asked an educated European how old the planet Earth was and to recount its history, the response would have been that it was about
6000 years old and that its ancient history was given by the biblical account in Genesis (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). If one asked the
same question of an educated European in AD 1900, one would have received a totally different answer (Changing Views of the History of the Earth).
The answer would have been the Earth was ancient, there had not been a Noachian flood, and that the species of life had not been fixed over the
history of Earth (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). In short, Genesis was an allegory and not literal history (Changing Views of the History
of the Earth). This brings up the different views between "young earth creationists" and "old earth creationists" and those that support an infinite
universe. The problem today is each side contains major valid points of evidence of both biblical and scientific, on the age of the planet Earth.
The "young earth creationist" perceptive is the result of a historical–grammatical reading of the description of the early Earth in the Bible or the Islamic
Qur'an, which both contain similar accounts of a six–day creation, Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and Noah's flood (Biblical

CREATIONISM V.S. EVOLUTION
Do people think that humans came from primates or do people think we were put on this earth by God? Everything had to be here at some point(like
a person) eventually. Humans are the smartest thing on earth, so from that assumption we would have to be here the longest to grow smarter, makes
since? Or people can believe that we came from primates and not believe in God or people can believe in God and think that we were put here on earth
by Him. Creationism is valid in the US and the people who founded it, The belief in creationism is more relevant in the world today because it is the
most popular belief, The fact that creationism can be found through american culture and many other cultures today. Creationism can be found all
throughout american culture and all throughout history, there are over 2.2 billion christians(Creationists) in the world and the most common religion,
and finally biblical stances are strongly relied on in the foundation of the U.S.
Everyone is probably wondering why creationism is more valid than evolution. The first reason that creationism is more valid than evolution is
because it is found in the U.S.'s government. Here's a quote to prove it "God truly has "shed His grace" on this "sweet land of liberty" more fully than
on any nation in history, but these blessings are the result of the commitment of our founding fathers to God as Creator, to God's incarnate Son as

Young Earth Scientists
How does current science support each of the Biblical views of Young Earth Scientists(YEC), and Old Earth Scientists(OEC)? This is a question that is
disputed among many scientists. Although both groups believe that the Bible is the word of God, they both interpret it differently. For example Young
Earth Creationists believe that the earth was literally created in one week. Old Earth Creationists believe, however, that days did not refer to 24 hours,
but referred to longer periods of time. It is important for people to understand the differences and similarities between the beliefs of Young Earth
Creationists and Old Earth Creationists, so that they can determine which view is supported by science.
Although these two views differ greatly in some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main difference in belief is of the age of the universe. Both groups use many difference exclamations to support their side of this issue. Ice cores
have been used to try to determine the age of ice sheets in Greenland, and Antarctica. This works the same way as counting tree rings. However, it is
not as simple. There is still controversy on the outcome of this method. 110,000 layers have been counted in the Antarctic sheet and have been claimed
by some that these are annual layers. If this were true, then that would suggest that the ice sheet is 110,000 years old. But these layers have been
shown not to be annual. Recently two B–17 Flying Fortresses and six P–38 Lightning fighters were excavated in Antartica. Nearly 50 years after they
went down, the planes had been covered in 250 feet of ice. Hundreds of rings were noticed during the excavation. Since hundreds of rings were
produced in less than 50 years, this shows that the rings do not indicate years. The excavation showed the rate of accumulation to be 5.5 feet per year.
The deepest core dug is was about 10,000 feet deep. After considering compression, 4,400 years is enough time to produce that much ice(Ice Core
Dating Segment). This shows that the Young Earth Creationist time frame can fit in ice

The Debate Between Creation And Evolution
The debate between creation and evolution has been around for a long time. For much of it, it has presented a choice between the two. Some claim that
you either believe in God or evolution, not both. Others, that you have to choose young earth creationism simply because theistic evolution is not a
viable option. Still more present young earth creationism as a naive understanding of both the Bible and science. However, since each position has
evidence in support of it and against it, it is in no way true that any of them present us with an undeniable position of definite accuracy. Furthermore, the
idea that there is only a choice between creation and evolution is false. Indeed, there are more positions than even creationism and theistic ... Show more

It is for this reason that the debate is also not between science and Christianity. Each advocate for each position is attempting to reconcile the apparent
differences between science and Christianity. It is simply the case that they each take a different approach and give different amounts of authority to
science and a literal interpretation of Genesis.
The first position is that of young earth creationism. Additionally, this is what most people mean when referring to "creationism." This is primarily due
to the fact that the creationists visible in the public eye during the creation–evolution debate were most likely to hold young earth creationist views.
Additionally, the terms "recent earth" or "recent creation" have been used to refer to this same position. These terms clearly define their position as one
in which the creation of the world occurred somewhat recently, that is, the world is young. However, it obviously doesn 't provide us with much
information beyond that. To begin with, how young is the world? In order to help answer this and other questions concerning young earth creationism,

The Myth Of The Earth
Scientists have found that the Earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago by collisions in the giant disc–shaped cloud of material that also formed
the Sun. As gravity slowly gathered this gas and dust together into clumps, it became asteroids and small early planets called planetesimals. These
objects collided repeatedly and gradually got bigger, building up the planets in the Solar System. Although scientists are very close to answering the
question, they still continue to search for the exact answer to how the Earth was created. With all the evidence presented, it is hard to refute from
scientific theories. This becomes cumbersome to many religions because in their eyes God has always been the creator of the Earth. That is the case
for Christianity, God has always been the creator of the Earth. Before the scientific discoveries were made, Christians had the idea of a young Earth.
The belief was that Earth was created by God in six, 24–hour days and less than 10,000 years ago. The Young Earth Creationists say the Bible never
talks about billions and billions of years ago, so they do not believe the Earth existed that long ago and revert the the Book of Genesis as evidence.
Different interpretations of the Book of Genesis lead to the varying thoughts overtime between Young Earth and Old Earth Creationists. The Old Earth
Creationists still believe that God created the Earth, but that the process took much longer. They accept what the astronomers and geologists say about

A Debate On God's Revelation Of God
"We must as Gods people stand against the compromise of reinterpreting Genesis to fit in evolution and millions of years, which undermines biblical
authority." Ultimately, what's at stake in this debate is more than just a magic number of years. This debate's significance centers on God's revelation
of Himself in Scripture and whether Scripture is relevant today or not. This issue has only become a debate in the last couple hundred years. Before the
Enlightenment, people in Western cultures accepted the young earth view because the scriptural account of creation was interpreted literally. Now
ideas crashing with other ideas, Hebrew words are being tossed and turned. Moreover with the continued cross–examining of Scripture and with the
new discoveries made in science, Christian have begun to question whether or not the earth is young or old? The worst fall–out of the argument has
been division in the body of Christ, were many brothers and sisters have held so tightly to their views causing disunity within the church. Many people
now feel that they must choose between science and sola scriptura. Actually, the choice is not between science and Scripture. A young earth stance can
be both science and Scripture and has more credibility than an old earth because of radioactive testing has proved to be unreliable and history has been
in constant support of young earth until the past 200 years. This paper will displaying the two leading positions in the debate, and then support for

The Myth Of The Bible
There are many aspects of christianity that cause me to wonder if the god that I have been taught about my entire life exists. The matter of creation is
not one of the things that causes my doubt. Many atheists cite the proof of evolution as their reason to disprove the bible because it clearly teaches
young earth creationism. They along with the majority of christians are wrong. Evolution, the Big Bang and science do not completely conflict with the
bible. In order to truly understand the bible you must realize that it is not an almanac or historical account of history. It is a collection of many forms of
writing that were put together to convey a message. Christians should not cling to their arrogance and continue to make preposterous claims that turn
agnostics, atheists, and other theists away from Christianity. Old earth creationism is the only way that the bible should be interpreted. In this paper
rather than providing science I will simply show how young earth creationist claims about the age of the earth are unfounded.
Young earth creationists believe the universe has existed for about 7,000 years. They provide "proof" for this interpretation in two major ways. The
young earth interpretation takes the use of the hebrew word YГґm to mean a literal 24 hour day. meaning that Adam (if Adam was even an actual
person) was literally created 6 days after the universe itself came into existence. Young earth creationists then trace the genealogies found in the bible to

The River From Eden, By Charles Darwin
One of the most well–known atheists evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins who ––––– order to explain the existence of the universe and emergence
of life on Earth. Today, many scientist firmly believe that the universe was created approximately when infinitely small and dense point known as
singularity started expanding 14 billion years ago. Fine tuned expansion unleashed the beginning of the time and space itself. Our Earth formed some
4 or 5 billion years ago, and the first living single organisms appeared in water roughly 0.5–1.5 billions years after its existence.(35, Theism,
Atheism, and Big Bang Cosmology). Over the millions of years they began to evolve from the single celled organism into ultimately the most advanced
form of life, human through the process of natural selection. The term was popularized by Charles Darwin in 1859 to explain how animals change to
adapt to the environment for survival. Richard Dawkins states in his book "The River From Eden", "Genetic code is in fact literally identical in all
animals, plants, and bacteria that have ever been looked at. All earthly living things are descended from a single ancestor. From a molecular point of,
all animals are pretty close relatives of one another and even of plants" (12). Although scientists cannot scientifically explain how or why the "Big
Bang" started, they successfully explain what happens after the "Big Bang" and how we all came to be.

Young Earth Realism Vs. Old Earth Creationism
This book has taught me far beyond what I expected, perhaps while reading this book I learned much more about the Genesis 1 account than I ever
learned in my entire life. Miller and Soden might argue that my lack of study in this area is a result of being a group thinker rather than an individual
thinker (30). Looking at both the Young Earthcreationism (YEC) and the Old earth creationism (OEC) views for the first time, I realized that during
my time at Moody Bible Institute I am really seeking to be challenged in my beliefs with by no means making it some kind of test for orthodoxy.
Even though both the YEC and OEC views have strong arguments the aim of this essay is to demonstrate what I took away from this book which was

sometimes our observation of the world may require us to reconsider our understanding of the text because we have not adequately understood the text
in its original context. I agree with this statement more than ever before; my mind is blown by this book. Genesis 1:2 talks about the earth being

imperceptibility. Additionally, the separation from the light to darkness occurs in both account. The conundrum of having light created before the sun

Evolution Is A Highly Argumentative Topic, Today 's Society

Pro–evolution: Why? Creation versus evolution is a highly argumentative topic, especially in today's society. A recent debate, between Bill Nye "The
Science Guy" and Ken Ham, has sparked even more controversy over this particular topic. A poll administered by Gallup shows that forty–six percent
of Americans believe God created humans as they are now ten–thousand years ago, and that the only reliable dating system is the Word of God (Lovan
1). Many others believe that humans have evolved into how they are in present times, and that science, and its ways of dating things, is reliable and
correct. Evolution wins over creationism because Bill Nye won the debate with Ken
Ham, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say that Nye won, not only with his facts, but with his style (Chowdhury 2). Because Bill Nye is representing evolutionists, Payne 2 and he beat
Ham, who is representing creationists, this is one of few signs that signify that evolution beats creation.
Another way that evolution wins over creation is that creationist views threaten the science of the United States. With almost half of the United States'
in favor of creation, this could pose a potential threat to US science. Innovation is in jeopardy if everything known about nature and the universe is
forgotten by ancient text translated into English. "'The Earth is not
6,000 or 10,000 years old,' Nye said in an interview with The Associated Press, citing scientists' estimates that it is about 4.5 billion years old. 'It's
not. And if that conflicts with your beliefs, I strongly feel you should question your beliefs.'" "[Nye also emphasized that] 'If we raise a generation of
students who don't believe in the process of science . . . you're not going to continue to innovate'" Bible stories are presented as an alternative to
evolution in some states, as approved by lawmakers and school boards. Teachers in Tennessee are protected by a law to let students judge scientific
theories, including evolution (Lovan 1). Because creationist views are a threat to the science of the United States, this shows that creationism is
harmful to science,

Old Earth, Or Progressive Creationism
Old earth, or progressive creationism shares similarities with theistic evolution in that it places the age of the earth at 4–5 billion years ago and the
universe at 10–20 billion years ago. However, they are not satisfied with the claim that God–guided evolution brought the world into existence,
eventually arriving at the world we live in today. Robert C. Newman, an astrophysicist and New Testament professor acknowledges that it would be
possible for God to use evolution as a creation tool, just as it is possible that God created solely through supernatural means. However, he thinks that
there are too many unanswered questions left for both positions. It is from this conviction that Newman places himself in the progressive creationist
camp. This view is named such because it sees creation as occurring in a progression with various levels which built upon one another, using a
combination of supernatural intervention and providential guidance to harmonize the histories found in both the biblical account of Genesis and the
scientific account we find in nature. Newman is quick to point out that there are many variations of the old earth creationist position. Of these,
however, he finds three main varieties, which differ primarily in their views on the nature of the days of the creation week. These three categories are:
(1) The day–age view. As implied by the title, this view considers the days to be chronological, but not 24–hour periods. Rather, they are long spans of

Jon W. Green states "though differences of opinion exist for various doctrinal
issues within Christianity, few are more divisive than controversies surrounding the days of creation and the age of the Earth." As stated... Show more

According the big bang theory, after the big bang an explosion happened and over time the earth slowly evolved over the course of millions of years
into what we now know as the Earth. LaRocco and Rothstein (2001) state what happened after the explosion from the big bang, which is speculative
"In the minuscule fractions of the first second after creation what was once a complete vacuum began to evolve into what we now know as the universe.
In the very beginning there was nothing except for a plasma soup. As the universe expanded further, and thus cooled, common particles began to form.
These particles are called baryons and include photons, neutrinos, electrons and quarks would become the building blocks of matter and life as we
know it. During the baryon genesis period there were no recognizable heavy particles such as protons or neutrons because of the still intense heat. At
this moment, there was only a quark soup." (LaRocco, Rothstein 2001) According to the Big Bang Theory over the course of millions and billions of
years the Earth evolved into what we know it as now.
Compare Contrast
Although these two theories are extremely different in nature there are a few comparison to be noted. According to the Big Bang theory eventually
the Earth will be overcome by energy and it will be called "Heat Death." As the Bible tells us in the end time the world will be judged by fire and

Evolution Of Science Classes At School
Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I have grown up studying Bible stories since before
I can remember. Probably the most prominent and well–known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I
still remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after, he continued creation and included the sky,
the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created
within an exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon discovered that many of the ... Show more

While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people known as creationists and creation scientists
seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that "the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1–11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable
and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days" (Morris). Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their
religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind
creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it "presents a world view without God and that there is only 'survival of the
fittest' and that there is no real purpose for mankind." In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation
by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about
creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts.
For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US
public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not yet found someone who is pro–evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom.
However, there are creation scientists who think

TABLE OF CONTENTS TABLE OF CONTENTSIII INTRODUCTION1 ATHEISTIC EVOLUTION1 THEISTIC EVOLUTION1 OLD EARTH CREATIONISM1 YOUNG EARTH CREATIONISM2 COPERNICAN PRINCIPLE2 EVOLUTIONISM2 YOUNG EARTH AND OLD EARTH CREATIONISM ARGUMENTS3 PERSONAL VIEW4 CONCLUSION4 BIBLIOGRAPHY5 INTRODUCTION Evolution theories have been around for a long time. There have also been a lot of old– and young Earth creationism arguments. These theories and arguments are discussed in this paper. ATHEISTIC EVOLUTION Atheistic evolution can be defined as a belief that everything was created without any supernatural phenomenon (God). Atheistic evolution is thus basically the opposite of theistic evolution. God told the Israelites that the reason they had to work six days and rest on the seventh day, is because He created everything and rested on the seventh day. It is thus not realistic to think we have to work for six long periods (millions of years) and rest for another long period. The Bible also states that Jesus woke up three days after his crucifixion, which could not mean millions of years. Meredith Kline, from Westminster Theological Seminary proposed that Genesis should be interpreted metaphorically and not literally like most of us
  • 2. do. Old Earth creationists believe that scientific evidence cannot be overlooked. Scientists use the method of radiometric aging from meteorite material to determine the age of Earth. Fossils were found that are much older than a few thousand years, for example dinosaurs. PERSONAL VIEW I personally believe in biblical evolution. Science has an explanation for how life is evolving but does not have a valid explanation of how life initially began, that is where science and Christianity are compatible. Christianity can ... • 3. Age Of The Earth Research Paper The debate about the age of the Earth has persisted for centuries! Some scientists try to disprove Christians and some Christians try to disprove scientific evidence. Nevertheless, there is a surprising number of Christians and scientists who have worked together to give their opinion about the age of the Earth by using both Biblical and scientific facts. The purpose of this essay is to succinctly describe both Old Earth and Young Earth viewpoints. My opinion about the matter will follow, in which I will provide Biblical evidence to support my claims. Young Earth Creationists (YEC) strongly believe that the time frame presented in the Bible is to be taken literally. Therefore, the majority of YEC believe that the Earth is 6,000 to 10,000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I support the idea that the Earth is truly 4.6 billion years old because I believe that the Bible uses the word "days" when discussing creation because we can wrap our brain around God's time period. "A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night." Psalm 90:4 (NIV). This verse sums up exactly what I believe: that God's time scale is different than the time scale we experience, therefore, a day to us could easily be a thousand years, or more to God. My next premise is that when God created the Garden of Eden and all of the creatures of the Earth that the Garden of Eden was a very sacred place. Therefore, I believe that very early humans, such as cavemen were created outside of the garden because God was experimenting to see which specimen would be perfect for ruling the Earth. Though this process of trial and error, God decided that he needed to create a man who possessed similar qualities as He, because He is perfect. "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, in our likeness...'" Genesis 1:26 (NIV). Furthermore, I propose that it was the Great Flood that caused the mass amount of dinosaurs to die. My theory is that once it began to rain, massive landslides began occurring on the Earth's surface. It was these landslides that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Young Earth Theory Based on the lose interpretation of the Bible mentioned earlier, leads to the question on How old is Earth? Some may argue that earth is only 6,000 to 10,00 years old (young earth creationism) other argue that earth really 4.6 to 13.7 billion years old (Old earth creationism) and lastly other argue God used to evolution when it came to creation (Theistic theory). Youngearth theory takes Genesis literal, meaning that this theory believes creations happened in six days and God rested on the seventh. Adam and Eve are also looked as historical figures. When it comes to argument from old earth creationism its interpretation of genesis 1–2 allow for lose interpretation. Its states that the grammar presented in the bible allow for a blurred line ... • 5. Comparative Essay: Elements Of Earth Science Elements of Earth ScienceComparative Essay Original Creation of the EarthRhonda L. Carter9 March 2014PHSC 210–B13 LOU| | Introduction It should be easy to say that the Earth was created by a higher power. For a Christian this higher power is God. The Bible gives us the six day creation of the heavens and the Earth and all that dwell upon it. For anyone else, the higher power is some unknown power that science is still trying to figure out. There are a lot of theories in science about how the Earth was created. One of these theories is the big bang theory. The essay will compare the two theories and show how different they are. Old Earth View In the old Earth view of the original creation of Earth we are told about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Young Earth View To believe in the young Earth theory, is to believe in the Bible. Those that believe in the Bible believe in a literal six day creation for the Earth and all that are upon it. When God spoke the world was brought into existence. On the sixth day God created Adam and Eve. He gave them dominion over all the animals and plants that he created. It wasn't until the fall of man that any of the animals would start to die and decay. Another belief of a young Earth is the flood of Noah. Many of the young Earth creationists believe in the flood geology. "Instead of the millions of years requires to create fossil fuels such as coal, flood geologists claim that they were formed within a year under the tremendous pressure of the Noachin floodwaters." (Koperski, 2006) In the book of Genesis we are given the creation account as well as the account of the flood. "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same say were all the fountains of the great deep broken up and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the Earth forty days and forty nights." (KJV, Genesis 6:11 –12) If the waters came not only from the sky, but also from deep in the Earth, this would explain the strata layers and also the fossil layers of marine animals found is places where there is no water. • 6. Creationism Bobby Rappach 11–1–12 Mr. Boyle Creationism The concept of Creationism has been around since a monotheistic Abrahamic God. It is nothing more than a literal interpretation of the creation story of Genesis as a basis for the creation of everything in the universe. Until the early 1500's it was the common belief that the world was flat and this is one the only exceptions that creationist sects have excepted when it comes to modern day science along with the earth not being the center of the universe. Today's definition can be understood as Christianity and Catholicism until the years surrounding 1500AD. Even after such discoveries it had a large amount of belief compared to new scientific discoveries. As scientific advances over... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In geology, instead of the Earth's rock layers forming over millions of years they believe that Noah's Great Flood brought upon the shape of mountains and diverse amounts of hills, valleys, plateaus etc. One of the greatest controversies when it comes to creationists is the idea of dinosaurs and humans. Today the average person could tell you that dinosaurs were around before humans, but not creationists. They believe that along with other animals, dinosaurs were brought on Noah's Ark and died out due to rapid climate change. Since dinosaurs were not mentioned in the bible, they were referred to as dragons, behemoths, and leviathans brings upon the idea in their mind that they lived along side the ancient people mentioned in the bible. In this they denounce the geology of dating rocks and fossils by criticizing the formula used to date them back millions of years. In chemistry they have said that the carbon dating of radioactive isotopes is incorrect because of the lack of 100% accuracy while being relatively close, they have created there own formula which no matter how they date it, it will always come to a conclusion of less than 10,000 years ago. Away from the science controversy in their belief, on a theological level they believe most of the same views as Catholics. There are three persons in one God as well as Jesus being born of the Virgin Mary. Also, they believe in the resurrection as well as Satan being an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Arguments Over The Earth's Age In The Bible Arguments over the age of the Earth have sometimes been divisive for people who regard the Bible as God's word. Even though the Earth's age is never mentioned in the Bible, it is an issue because those who take a strictly literal view of the early chapters of Genesis can calculate an approximate date for the creation by adding up the life–spans of the people mentioned in the genealogies. Assuming a strictly literal interpretation of the week of creation, even if some of the generations were left out of the genealogies, the Earth would be less than ten thousand years old. Radiometric dating techniques indicate that the Earth is thousands of times older than that––approximately four and a half billion years old. Many Christians accept this and ... • 8. A Christian At The Age Of 14 Author Information: (see attached resume for additional information) I became a Christian at the age of 14, partly as a result of being taught evolution in public school. Learning about evolution made me very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a result of a series of random accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear gospel presentation and trusted Christ as my savior as a freshman in high school. Since that time, I have had an avid interest in the scientific evidence that proves the biblical creation account true and evolution false. I worked for 35 plus years as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Initially, as a research hydrologist studying the quantity and quality of river water. I later moved into water science management positions and lastly served as an executive responsible for the all the surface–water related activities of the USGS in the U.S.A. As an executive, I was also designated as the Delaware River Master. As River Master, I administered the provisions of the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court Decree allocating the waters of the Delaware River. My career with the USGS has provided me with a wealth of education and experience in all aspects fresh–water related science and science management. During my career with the USGS, I authored or co–authored about 40 scientific and lay reader reports, proceedings paper, and abstracts. • 9. John Macarthur 's The Myth Of Creationism Introduction John Macarthur is a best–selling author and pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California. He is the current president of The Master's College and Seminary. He also has a national syndicated radio program Grace to You. I believe the author 's intention was to debunk the myth of evolution. John MacArthur addresses creation from a Biblical standpoint. The book targets a primarily a Christian audience and makes a strong case for a literal six–day creation. This is not a book that fundamentally concentrates on persuading unbelieving evolutionists of creationism, yet rather it focuses on convincing Christians who trust that in some type of advancement, (for example, old–earth creationism or the Gap Theory) that the primary perusing of Genesis one and two is a strict perusing. MacArthur constructs a significant part of the book with respect to the view that Evolution is itself a religion that is entirely contradicted to Christianity. Creationism and Evolution, along these lines, can never be blended. We should have faith in it is possible that either. Subsequent to giving numerous reasons why Evolutionism is contradictory to God and His outline, the book spends a section on each of the days of creation. In every part, the creator demonstrates why something besides an exacting six–day creation is outlandish. In this manner, he gives important cases of the miracles and wonders of creation. A large part of the book is centered around disproving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be maintained that the first three days are days in the sense that we now understand them? Our current day is delineated via the earth's rotation in relation to the Sun – no Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the passage itself says this, for it says in Gen. 1:14: "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be . . . for days". It may be objected that, regardless of whether or not we had a distant object in relation to which we might measure the progression of the earth's rotation, it nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by no means clear, for the text itself maintains that the earth was radically and fundamentally different at that time, being "without form and void" (v. 2). As such, any claim that the earth's rotation then was similar to what it is now is based on an assumption: namely, that in spite of the fact that the earth itself was physically different, natural processes such as its rotation were the same then as now. This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled against those who adhere to other interpretations of the days (and correspondingly, the age of the earth) by those with whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar–day interpretation frequently charge those with whom they disagree, whether secular scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural processes in ... Article Rebuttal Article Rebuttal Maybelline Torres University of Phoenix BCOM/275 April 17, 2012 Prof. Lourdes LebrГіn BayrГіn Article Rebuttal In this article rebuttal an analysis will take place on the authors, reliability, credibility, and validity on the account of Noah's flood. The rebuttal will give emphasis on the claims young earth creationist have on the earth's existence period. Additionally, address old earth and young earth theories. Finally identify any fallacies in the argument. For centuries creation theorists have given emphasis to Noah's flood as enough evidence to a universal deluge. Nevertheless, it is understood the ark presented in the Bible had a higher credibility to a local flood. According... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The following claim states that it can give evidence that all animals and humans originated from occupants of the ark. The people could have descended from the ark inhabitants, but scientist lack evidence on the animals descending from the ark. Finding the ark does not give evidence of the ancestry of all creatures. One way to refute this is consider the Koala in Australia. How did this earthly animal travel to Australia once the ark settled? Traveling this distance would be impossible nevertheless because the flood was local Koalas did not need to be on the ark. Furthermore, the author asserts that locating ark remains forces paleontologists to re–decipher fossils as an effect of the flood, not of many years buildup. Old–earth creationists relates fully with the geological proof of the arks old age existence. There are no findings of the ark, although several informants alleged to have seen it. In reality the ark will never be located, most likely it no longer exists. Noah maybe used the ark wood for rebuilding the society. God declared to Noah never again would He destroy the world with water. Noah was clear he had no use for the ark maybe he dismantled it for constructing material. Moreover, creation theorists Baumgardner, and Barnett claim after the flood the land would have resembled a lifeless wilderness deprived of trees and plants. • 12. Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with the same conclusion: neither side changed at all. Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying religious claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of "Jesus Christ" written in the bible. They believe god created the earth in seven days and that he will soon send his son, Jesus to earth to take the faithful to heaven. Deep analyzation of evolution, creationism, and the bible will surely reveal the truth. Evolution, is basically "decent with modification", this applies to microevolution and macroevolution. (www.evolution.berkeley.edu) Evolution, when on a smaller scale is defined as microevolution; an example would be the house sparrows. Depending on the location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from the cold while others are lighter to withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution it's almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short timespan required for it to take place. The controversy begins when you get into macroevolution which is evolution on a much bigger scale. Usually referring to a change in species, this cannot be observed because it takes longer than one lifespan to detect. We are able to observe small modifications; it should be common sense that over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wayne Grudem, Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine (Zondervan, 1994), 273, 290–291. This is primarily due to the fact that the creationists most visible in the public eye during the creation–evolution debate were most likely to hold young earth creationist views. Additionally, the terms "recent earth" or "recent creation" have been used to refer to this same position. These terms clearly define their position as one in which the creation of the world occurred somewhat recently, that is, the world is young. The next point Nelson and Reynolds make is one of disagreement between young earth and progressive creationists. Concerning the impact of the curse in Genesis 3, young earth creationists typically view this point to be the entrance of all death and suffering to the world. Progressive creationists, however, consider there to be a long period of time between the creation of the world and the introduction of sin into the world. Because of this length of time, progressive creationists consider animal death and suffering to have occurred long before the first humans sinned. The question of animal death and suffering prior to the fall of mankind is one that will be discussed in further detail when looking at the old earth positions According to Nelson and Reynolds, the strongest point of contention between young earth and progressive creationists is that of the flood. • 15. Animal Death Vs. Old-Earth Creationism Animal death before the fall may not be found in any of the early Christian's church's orthodox, but when it comes to the argument over young or old–earth creationism, it can be a very defining issue. Old–earth creationists believe animal death was part of God's creation before Adam and Eve were even created, while young–earth creationists reject all death before the Fall. The Old–Earth Creationist view is that Adam's sin led to his spiritual death, which was then followed eventually by his physical death. Before Adam was created, animal death was not related to man's salvation or Christ's atonement on the cross. The scriptural support for theses claims are pointed out in the following verses. In Genesis 2:17 it is written, "For in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die." In this warning to Adam there was no mention of animal death. Adam was the person whom God was speaking to in this verse. Both John MacArthur, who is a young–earth creationist, and Gleason Archer, an old–earth creationist, agree in the sense that this verse was communicating a spiritual death to Adam, followed by his physical death hundreds of years later. One thought that Christians believe is that God created the earth and accomplished this in six days and rested on the seventh day. This is the model of how a week is set up and the model that we currently follow. Jon W. In regards to the age of the Earth, young earth creationist take Genesis 5 as a genealogy of the Earth. Old Earth, Or Progressive Creationism Another position is old earth, or progressive creationism, which does share some similarities with theistic evolution – primarily, that it places the age of the earth at 4–5 billion years ago and the universe at 10–20 billion years ago. However, old earth creationists are not satisfied with the claim that God–guided evolution brought the world into existence, eventually arriving at the world we live in today. Robert C. Newman, an astrophysicist and New Testament professor, acknowledges that it would be possible for God to use evolution as a creative tool, just as it is possible that God created solely through supernatural means. However, he thinks that there are too many unanswered questions left for both positions. It is from this conviction that Newman places himself in the progressive creationist camp. This view is named so on account of the fact that it sees creation as occurring in a progression with various levels which were built upon one another, using a combination of supernatural intervention and providential guidance to harmonize the histories found in both the biblical account of Genesis and the scientific account we find in nature. Newman is quick to point out that there are quite a few variations of the old earth creationist position. Of these, however, he finds three main varieties, which differ primarily in their views on the nature of the days of the creation week. These three categories are: (1) The day–age view. The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically and scientifically, when compared to the other positions of theism and New World creationism. This is due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant proofs that their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the other creationism viewpoints. It does not deny the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1–2, saying that they do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its own belief from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded upon with the explanation of the six days of creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are an extended period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical timeline, but it being a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also justifies the scientific outlook on the creation story. Like how humanity is always discovering new substances and species, information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. When compared to the other viewpoints of creationism, the Old World position has the most evidence. New World and theistic approaches to the origin story have their own pros and cons, but they both have glaring weaknesses. The main idea of old earth creationism is that just about everything that happened in Genesis from the Bible is true, but while it is true it is not completely accurate or even in the correct order. What this means is that while Genesis does say everything happens over the course of a week or a seven day period, it does not specify how long a day is. This means that a day could be anywhere from one hundred and sixty eight hours to a few million years. If each day in Genesis is a few million years then that would mean that the bible does partially agree with the big bang theory.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next he began creating life, he began with the animals of the sea and the animals of the air, after this he created land animals, and finally he created human beings. Almost all of the things that science has researched and discovered are based on the calculation that the earth is around five billion years old, but scientific creationism argues against all of the proof and claims that the earth is young. • 28. The Age Of The Earth The Age of The Earth For decades the age of the Earth has been a major conflict between science and religion, but why is it such a big conflict? If, in the year AD 1600, an individual had asked an educated European how old the planet Earth was and to recount its history, the response would have been that it was about 6000 years old and that its ancient history was given by the biblical account in Genesis (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). If one asked the same question of an educated European in AD 1900, one would have received a totally different answer (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). The answer would have been the Earth was ancient, there had not been a Noachian flood, and that the species of life had not been fixed over the history of Earth (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). In short, Genesis was an allegory and not literal history (Changing Views of the History of the Earth). This brings up the different views between "young earth creationists" and "old earth creationists" and those that support an infinite universe. The problem today is each side contains major valid points of evidence of both biblical and scientific, on the age of the planet Earth. The "young earth creationist" perceptive is the result of a historical–grammatical reading of the description of the early Earth in the Bible or the Islamic Qur'an, which both contain similar accounts of a six–day creation, Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and Noah's flood (Biblical ... There is still controversy on the outcome of this method. 110,000 layers have been counted in the Antarctic sheet and have been claimed by some that these are annual layers. Hundreds of rings were noticed during the excavation. Since hundreds of rings were produced in less than 50 years, this shows that the rings do not indicate years. The excavation showed the rate of accumulation to be 5.5 feet per year. The deepest core dug is was about 10,000 feet deep. • 32. The Myth Of The Earth Scientists have found that the Earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago by collisions in the giant disc–shaped cloud of material that also formed the Sun. As gravity slowly gathered this gas and dust together into clumps, it became asteroids and small early planets called planetesimals. These objects collided repeatedly and gradually got bigger, building up the planets in the Solar System. Although scientists are very close to answering the question, they still continue to search for the exact answer to how the Earth was created. With all the evidence presented, it is hard to refute from scientific theories. This becomes cumbersome to many religions because in their eyes God has always been the creator of the Earth. That is the case for Christianity, God has always been the creator of the Earth. Before the scientific discoveries were made, Christians had the idea of a young Earth. The belief was that Earth was created by God in six, 24–hour days and less than 10,000 years ago. The Young Earth Creationists say the Bible never talks about billions and billions of years ago, so they do not believe the Earth existed that long ago and revert the the Book of Genesis as evidence. Different interpretations of the Book of Genesis lead to the varying thoughts overtime between Young Earth and Old Earth Creationists. The Old Earth Creationists still believe that God created the Earth, but that the process took much longer. They accept what the astronomers and geologists say about ... • 33. A Debate On God's Revelation Of God "We must as Gods people stand against the compromise of reinterpreting Genesis to fit in evolution and millions of years, which undermines biblical authority." Ultimately, what's at stake in this debate is more than just a magic number of years. This debate's significance centers on God's revelation of Himself in Scripture and whether Scripture is relevant today or not. This issue has only become a debate in the last couple hundred years. Before the Enlightenment, people in Western cultures accepted the young earth view because the scriptural account of creation was interpreted literally. Now ideas crashing with other ideas, Hebrew words are being tossed and turned. Moreover with the continued cross–examining of Scripture and with the new discoveries made in science, Christian have begun to question whether or not the earth is young or old? The worst fall–out of the argument has been division in the body of Christ, were many brothers and sisters have held so tightly to their views causing disunity within the church. Many people now feel that they must choose between science and sola scriptura. Actually, the choice is not between science and Scripture. A young earth stance can be both science and Scripture and has more credibility than an old earth because of radioactive testing has proved to be unreliable and history has been in constant support of young earth until the past 200 years. This paper will displaying the two leading positions in the debate, and then support for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Myth Of The Bible There are many aspects of christianity that cause me to wonder if the god that I have been taught about my entire life exists. The matter of creation is not one of the things that causes my doubt. Many atheists cite the proof of evolution as their reason to disprove the bible because it clearly teaches young earth creationism. They along with the majority of christians are wrong. Evolution, the Big Bang and science do not completely conflict with the bible. In order to truly understand the bible you must realize that it is not an almanac or historical account of history. It is a collection of many forms of writing that were put together to convey a message. Christians should not cling to their arrogance and continue to make preposterous claims that turn agnostics, atheists, and other theists away from Christianity. Old earth creationism is the only way that the bible should be interpreted. In this paper rather than providing science I will simply show how young earth creationist claims about the age of the earth are unfounded. Young earth creationists believe the universe has existed for about 7,000 years. They provide "proof" for this interpretation in two major ways. The young earth interpretation takes the use of the hebrew word YГґm to mean a literal 24 hour day. meaning that Adam (if Adam was even an actual person) was literally created 6 days after the universe itself came into existence. Young earth creationists then trace the genealogies found in the bible to find the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The River From Eden, By Charles Darwin One of the most well–known atheists evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins who ––––– order to explain the existence of the universe and emergence of life on Earth. Today, many scientist firmly believe that the universe was created approximately when infinitely small and dense point known as singularity started expanding 14 billion years ago. Fine tuned expansion unleashed the beginning of the time and space itself. Our Earth formed some 4 or 5 billion years ago, and the first living single organisms appeared in water roughly 0.5–1.5 billions years after its existence.(35, Theism, Atheism, and Big Bang Cosmology). Over the millions of years they began to evolve from the single celled organism into ultimately the most advanced form of life, human through the process of natural selection. The term was popularized by Charles Darwin in 1859 to explain how animals change to adapt to the environment for survival. Richard Dawkins states in his book "The River From Eden", "Genetic code is in fact literally identical in all animals, plants, and bacteria that have ever been looked at. All earthly living things are descended from a single ancestor. From a molecular point of, all animals are pretty close relatives of one another and even of plants" (12). Although scientists cannot scientifically explain how or why the "Big Bang" started, they successfully explain what happens after the "Big Bang" and how we all came to be. The second approach that explains the beginning of the universe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Young Earth Realism Vs. Old Earth Creationism This book has taught me far beyond what I expected, perhaps while reading this book I learned much more about the Genesis 1 account than I ever learned in my entire life. Miller and Soden might argue that my lack of study in this area is a result of being a group thinker rather than an individual thinker (30). Looking at both the Young Earthcreationism (YEC) and the Old earth creationism (OEC) views for the first time, I realized that during my time at Moody Bible Institute I am really seeking to be challenged in my beliefs with by no means making it some kind of test for orthodoxy. Even though both the YEC and OEC views have strong arguments the aim of this essay is to demonstrate what I took away from this book which was written by two advocate of the OEC belief. At the beginning of the book Miller and Soden argues that the people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I particularly enjoyed learning about how the offspring of Abraham that had spent hundreds of years in exile in Egypt has been affected by their religious beliefs. More specifically their belief on creation since they have the most similarities with the one in Genesis 1. Miller and Soden said that sometimes our observation of the world may require us to reconsider our understanding of the text because we have not adequately understood the text in its original context. I agree with this statement more than ever before; my mind is blown by this book. Genesis 1:2 talks about the earth being formless, void. Darkness and deep. Similarly, the Egyptian belied for creation is that the earth was watery, unilluminated, with darkness and imperceptibility. Additionally, the separation from the light to darkness occurs in both account. The conundrum of having light created before the sun is in place in Genesis 1:3, also happen in the Egyptian account "light is created before the sun rises in its place" (Miller and Soden ... • 37. Evolution Is A Highly Argumentative Topic, Today 's Society Payne 1 Jared Payne English 11 Mrs. Brown 5 December 2014 Pro–evolution: Why? Creation versus evolution is a highly argumentative topic, especially in today's society. A recent debate, between Bill Nye "The Science Guy" and Ken Ham, has sparked even more controversy over this particular topic. A poll administered by Gallup shows that forty–six percent of Americans believe God created humans as they are now ten–thousand years ago, and that the only reliable dating system is the Word of God (Lovan 1). Many others believe that humans have evolved into how they are in present times, and that science, and its ways of dating things, is reliable and correct. Evolution wins over creationism because Bill Nye won the debate with Ken Ham, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some say that Nye won, not only with his facts, but with his style (Chowdhury 2). Because Bill Nye is representing evolutionists, Payne 2 and he beat Ham, who is representing creationists, this is one of few signs that signify that evolution beats creation. Another way that evolution wins over creation is that creationist views threaten the science of the United States. With almost half of the United States' in favor of creation, this could pose a potential threat to US science. Innovation is in jeopardy if everything known about nature and the universe is forgotten by ancient text translated into English. "'The Earth is not 6,000 or 10,000 years old,' Nye said in an interview with The Associated Press, citing scientists' estimates that it is about 4.5 billion years old. 'It's not. And if that conflicts with your beliefs, I strongly feel you should question your beliefs.'" "[Nye also emphasized that] 'If we raise a generation of students who don't believe in the process of science . . . you're not going to continue to innovate'" Bible stories are presented as an alternative to evolution in some states, as approved by lawmakers and school boards. Teachers in Tennessee are protected by a law to let students judge scientific theories, including evolution (Lovan 1). • 38. Old Earth, Or Progressive Creationism Old earth, or progressive creationism shares similarities with theistic evolution in that it places the age of the earth at 4–5 billion years ago and the universe at 10–20 billion years ago. However, they are not satisfied with the claim that God–guided evolution brought the world into existence, eventually arriving at the world we live in today. Robert C. Newman, an astrophysicist and New Testament professor acknowledges that it would be possible for God to use evolution as a creation tool, just as it is possible that God created solely through supernatural means. However, he thinks that there are too many unanswered questions left for both positions. It is from this conviction that Newman places himself in the progressive creationist camp. This view is named such because it sees creation as occurring in a progression with various levels which built upon one another, using a combination of supernatural intervention and providential guidance to harmonize the histories found in both the biblical account of Genesis and the scientific account we find in nature. Newman is quick to point out that there are many variations of the old earth creationist position. Of these, however, he finds three main varieties, which differ primarily in their views on the nature of the days of the creation week. These three categories are: (1) The day–age view. As implied by the title, this view considers the days to be chronological, but not 24–hour periods. Rather, they are long spans of time, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Comparative Essay Comparative Essay July 4, 2014 2014 PHSC 210–B14 LUO Tom Williams Introduction Many people today have their thoughts on how the Earth was created. Christians take a biblical perspective of how the universe was created by a creator. One thought that Christians believe is that God created the earth and accomplished this in six days and rested on the seventh day. This is the model of how a week is set up and the model that we currently follow. Jon W. Green states "though differences of opinion exist for various doctrinal issues within Christianity, few are more divisive than controversies surrounding the days of creation and the age of the Earth." As stated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According the big bang theory, after the big bang an explosion happened and over time the earth slowly evolved over the course of millions of years into what we now know as the Earth. LaRocco and Rothstein (2001) state what happened after the explosion from the big bang, which is speculative "In the minuscule fractions of the first second after creation what was once a complete vacuum began to evolve into what we now know as the universe. In the very beginning there was nothing except for a plasma soup. As the universe expanded further, and thus cooled, common particles began to form. These particles are called baryons and include photons, neutrinos, electrons and quarks would become the building blocks of matter and life as we know it. During the baryon genesis period there were no recognizable heavy particles such as protons or neutrons because of the still intense heat. At this moment, there was only a quark soup." (LaRocco, Rothstein 2001) According to the Big Bang Theory over the course of millions and billions of years the Earth evolved into what we know it as now. Compare Contrast Although these two theories are extremely different in nature there are a few comparison to be noted. According to the Big Bang theory eventually the Earth will be overcome by energy and it will be called "Heat Death." As the Bible tells us in the end time the world will be judged by fire and ... • 40. Evolution Of Science Classes At School Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and well–known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after, he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that "the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1–11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days" (Morris). Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it "presents a world view without God and that there is only 'survival of the fittest' and that there is no real purpose for mankind." In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts. For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not yet found someone who is pro–evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom. However, there are creation scientists who think ...
