4. Things to Avoid for Colds
• Dairy Products (increases Mucous and congestion)

7. You will need:
1 Cup of dried horehound
2 ½ cups water
½ cup corn syrup 1. In large saucepan combine the horehound and water.
3 cups brown sugar 2. Bring to a boil and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes
1 tsp butter 3. Strain the horehound through a cheesecloth into another
1 tsp lemon juice bowl.
1 tsp cream of tartar4. Place 2 cups of the strained horehound mixture into a
8 inch buttered pan large pan and add in brown sugar, corn syrup and cream
of tarter.
5. Bring to a boil, stirring often and use and candy
thermometer to bring the temp to 240 degrees F.
6. Add butter and continue to boil to 300 degrees F.
7. Remove candy from the heat and stir in lemon juice
8. Pour mixture into 8 in buttered pan and cut into squares
when mixture cools
9. Wrap in individual cellophane wrappers or store in an
airtight container.
8. Catnip Tea (Soothes Nervous System, expectorant, fever reducer)
• Boil 2 cups of water and pour over 1 ounce dried catnip (1 -2 tbs)
• Optional: 1 tsp or to taste / honey and or lemon
• Brew for 10 to 20 min
• 3 to 4 cups daily
Cold and Flu Tea:
• 1 part peppermint
• 1 part lemon balm
• 1 part Elder Flowers
• 1 part yarrow flower
• Optional: 1 tsp. ginger, honey and lemon
