2. The Class is 10th grade history
Class size is 23 students.
Ten males thirteen females.
19 Caucasian 4 African American
1 with learning disability 2 with adhd
School located in small city West Virginia
All born in U.S.
3. Students will show a full understanding of the key events and
vocabulary related to the war in the pacific during World War ll.
Obtained by the use of both print and internet sources as well as
class debate. Students will preform their own research to determine
if the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki where necessary. This
will be preformed within a 5 day period with 100% accuracy. The
students will be assessed by the completion of research and
meaningful discussion.
4. Day One- Learn any prior know the students have on the war in the pacific.
Have a brief Discussion on the magnitude of the war in the pacific.
Day Two- Watch video of scenes from the war in the pacific. ( important battles
and first hand accounts)
Day Three- Explain the dropping of bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Have a
class discussion on whether the bombs where necessary.
Day Four- Divide the students into groups. One opposing the bombs and
another in favor of the bombs. Let the students do their own research.
Day Five- Hold a class debate and let each group present their research..
5. Students will do research through library sources and
internet sources
Video will be used to show the severity of the war in the
pacific.
Use of library resources via internet.
