The Odyssey
       The untold version

               Books 6 - 10
It all began in……….
…… the year 2115 AD……
..... in place now called
The United City
States of America!
The main hero is

            a man named….
Odysseus III
a descendent of the Great Odysseus of stories
HOWEVER!
How will he
measure up to
 Odysseus?
“For [He knew] how to handle a
fine polished bow,

the first to hit my man in a mass of
                            enemies”
                              Book 8 lines 246 - 247
“As for spears,

[He] can fling a spear as far as the next
                  man wings an arrow!”
                                  Book 8 lines 260 - 261
Not only that…….

……For he also had the character of a
                              Hero
He was
   Clever and smart,

         Brave and Courageous,

               Modest and Humble
Well then, let us return to our

hero, Odysseus III and find out,

                    Shall we?
He was on the banks of the Potomac River

“a terrible sight, all crusted, caked
                               with brine”
                                     Book 6 line 151
When he met the princesses

                   Of the near by

                   City – State…..
Washington DC

     And it’s many marble buildings
With the cleverness that Odysseus
 III had,

he was able to convince them to bring
him to the king and queen of the
                           city-state.
And he met them, The King and Queen

     Of Washington DC
As can be seen through the photo,

    they are very kind rulers

             And even better hosts
“Here, he found the [Washington
    DC] lords and captains”
            Book 7 lines 160 - 161
After some discussions,

            Off they went to bed
The next day was very eventful…..

            There were
games, singing, dancing, and sports

   And he DOMINATED in sports
That night, he began to tell the tale
of his EPIC journey back in time

      From the lotus eaters

                   To Circe’s Island
His journey began at Ismarus:
“There [he] sacked the city, killed the
men, but as for the wives and plunder,
that rich haul [they] dragged away
from that place – [they] shared it
round so no one, not on [his] account,
would go deprived of his fair share of
                spoils.”
                 Book 9 lines 45 to 49
But, that was also where the
trouble began:

They were driven out by the Cicones
             and rode out to sea…..
And through the storms

              They sailed for days
Then, they met them…..

                  The lotus eaters
And Odysseus III dragged his men
back,

Kicking and screaming to the ship

Because those who ate the flower,
           never wanted to leave
But this was the least of their
troubles

    They landed on THEIR island

                     The island of…….
The CYCLOPS
Odysseus III and some men went
to look

But instead of a warm welcome,

                They were EATEN
But Odysseus III kept his cool

With his wit, he put the Cyclops to
                sleep

                      And then he…..
STABBED HIM IN THE
       EYE

    With one of these
But that wasn’t enough for
Odysseus III

No, that would be too easy…..

He had to go and TAUNT him….
This is where Poseidon’s hate
started

            But not where it ended
After the escape from the land of the
Cyclops,

They received help from King Aeolus
in the shape of bags of wind

But they were undone by these
                     bags, as well as…
Their own stupidity,

    The crews jealousy,

         And Odysseus’s exhaustion
They returned to the island,

       And also returned to rowing
And what happens next?

       Yep, you guessed it

                    More troubles
Odysseus III and his crew

      Landed on Laestrygorian land
All of Odysseus’s men died

           Except those on his ship
“’Put your backs in the oars – now
row or die!’ “
Book 10 line 141

     With these words, Odysseus urged
                          his crew on
After this, he met his last trouble
that will be talked about now

And that is his time at Circe’s Island
At this point, half of his men were
turned into swine

One person made it back, and
        warned Odysseus

Odysseus III went off alone for his
                                men
On his way, he met Hermes, who
helped him

 Hermes arms him with protection
           and plans

This keeps him safe from Circe’s
                             power
In a long while, they were happy
and content for a whole year

   Then, they desired to return
          home, finally

But before they could go, they
needed to go the Kingdom of the
                              Dead
And that is the story thus far of

      Odysseus III
And how did he measure up?
Quite well, very much like a
               hero, such as Achilles
He has proven himself to be

Wise and witty

       Brave and courageous

                 Caring for his men
But most of all he has proven
       himself to be

 HUMAN
