GOAL OF PRESENTATION
• To explain the challenges I will be faced with while student
teaching.
• To explain how I plan on communicating and working with my
cooperating teacher and my supervisor
• To explain how I will reflect during my teaching and also what I
should take from each reflection

• Don’t be afraid to implement technology into class
• Don’t be afraid to ask students for feedback
• Don’t be afraid to ask questions
• Don’t step on toes (not your class room, communicate with teacher)

• Professor at WVU
• Will meet once a week to reflect
• If a issue arises bring it to supervisor first
• Will make a few field visit to observe your teaching
• In charge of your grade so don’t be afraid to ask them
questions
COOPERATING TEACHER
• Classroom teacher in which you are placed
• Ask questions- It is their room, not yours
• Brain storm with them- They want the children to learn as
much as you do
• Develop classroom rules together
• Be respectful to them, they are allowing you to use their room
TEACHER CANDIDATE
• You/ME
• Be on time and prepared for anything
• Be professional
• Ask questions
• Be creative
• Challenge students
• Will teach both PE/Health
• In charge of creating lesson plans in advanced so cooperating teacher can review
WHAT IS REFLECTIVE TEACHING?
• Definition- Reflective teaching means looking at what you do in
the classroom, thinking about why you do it, and thinking
about if it works - a process of self-observation and self-
evaluation.
WHY IS REFLECTION IMPORTANT?
• Reflection is the only way to grow as a teacher
• Helps to think about the good and the bad
• Will begin to understand what works in a lesson
• May help understand why students our either paying attention
or not.
REFLECTION TOOLS
• Video tape yourself
• Record yourself
• Ask a peer to observe you
• Ask students
• Make a diary

  • 2. GOAL OF PRESENTATION • To explain the challenges I will be faced with while student teaching. • To explain how I plan on communicating and working with my cooperating teacher and my supervisor • To explain how I will reflect during my teaching and also what I should take from each reflection
  • 3. CHALLENGES • Prepared for everything • Time Management • Communicate with Triad • Don’t be afraid to implement technology into class • Don’t be afraid to ask students for feedback • Don’t be afraid to ask questions • Don’t step on toes (not your class room, communicate with teacher) • Be creative
  • 4. STUDENT TEACHING TRIAD • University Supervisor • Cooperating Teacher • Teacher Candidate
  • 5. UNIVERSITY SUPERVISOR • Professor at WVU • Will meet once a week to reflect • If a issue arises bring it to supervisor first • Will make a few field visit to observe your teaching • In charge of your grade so don’t be afraid to ask them questions
  • 6. COOPERATING TEACHER • Classroom teacher in which you are placed • Ask questions- It is their room, not yours • Brain storm with them- They want the children to learn as much as you do • Develop classroom rules together • Be respectful to them, they are allowing you to use their room
  • 7. TEACHER CANDIDATE • You/ME • Be on time and prepared for anything • Be professional • Ask questions • Be creative • Challenge students • Will teach both PE/Health • In charge of creating lesson plans in advanced so cooperating teacher can review
  • 8. WHAT IS REFLECTIVE TEACHING? • Definition- Reflective teaching means looking at what you do in the classroom, thinking about why you do it, and thinking about if it works - a process of self-observation and self- evaluation.
  • 9. WHY IS REFLECTION IMPORTANT? • Reflection is the only way to grow as a teacher • Helps to think about the good and the bad • Will begin to understand what works in a lesson • May help understand why students our either paying attention or not.
  • 10. REFLECTION TOOLS • Video tape yourself • Record yourself • Ask a peer to observe you • Ask students • Make a diary
