DRAMATIZED EXPERIENCES
Dramatized Experinces is :

by dramatization

We can participate in a reconstructed experince

By acting out the role of characters in drama

The original event is far removed from us in time

Dramatizarion is essesntially a process of communication
Dramatized Experiences can range from the:

Fomal Plays – depict life,character, or culture or a combination of all
three.

Pageants – usually community dramas that are based on local history,
presented by local actors.

Tableau – picture-like scene composed of people againts a
background

Pantomine - “art of conveying a story through bodily movements
only”

Puppets – unlike the regular stage play, can present ideas w/ extreme
simplicity, there are types of puppets:
Types of Puppets:

Shadow Puppets- flat black silhouette made from lightweight
cardboard and shown behind the screen

Rod Puppets- flat cut out finfer tacked to a stick

Hand Puppets- the ppupet's head is operated by the forefinger of the
puppeteer

Glove-and-finger Puppets- use of old gloves to which small costumed
figure are attached

Marionettes- flexible, jointed puppets operated by strings

Principle must be observed in choosing puppet play for
teaching?

Do not use puppets for plays that can be done just as well or better by
other dramatic means

Puppet plays must be based on action rather than on words.

Keep the plays short.

Do not omit the possibilities of music and dancing as part of the puppet
show.

Adapt the puppet show to the age, background, and tastes of tje students
Role-playing is?

Unrehearsed, unprepared and spontaneous dramatization.

By describing a situation which would create different viewpoints on
an issue

By asking the students to play the roles of individuals involved

Any kind of conflict situation, real or potential, is useful for role-
playing or any situation in which real feelings are concealed.

Consider situation in school, at home, on the playground, at work, in
government.
Answer the following question:
1) How did you, as actors feel? Would you act/ think that way in real
life?
1) As observers, would you agree with the actors said or did?
1)Any lesson learned?
Some forms of dramatic experiences are play, pageant,
pantomime, tableau, pupets and role-playing. The last four are
the most commonly used in the classroom due to theie
simplicity and practically.
Role-playing is highly effective for lessons in the affective
domain.
