1. Methods approved by World Health Organization ( WHO ) & International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO ) on different types of insecticides aerosols used for inbound flights from different countries .
2. These are mandatory requirement inorder to keep our valuable passengers and cabin crew safe , protected from vector borne diseases like malaria , dengue and ZIKA Virus .
Aircraft Disinsection Procedures Using Insecticide Aerosols
1. AIRCRAFT DISINSECTION
PROCEDURES
( Mandatory by World Health Organization )
( Please note : No specific Brands are been advertised on the
presentation and its only meant for sharing free information )
2. “ Ensuring protection of our cabin crew 35,000 ft above and well
being of passengers are the most important safety and hospitality
by our airlines worldwide ”
3. TOPICS
• “Approaches” where insecticide aerosols needs to be used
• Ingredients required for each approaches
• Countries requiring Disinsection ( mandatory by WHO )
- Countries requiring D-Phenothrin or Knock Down effect disinsection
- Countries requiring Permethrin or Residual disinsection
4. There are only 3 Approaches wherein the
cabin crew sprays the insecticide Aerosols
• PRE FLIGHT
- Sprayed 15-20 minutes prior to passengers entering the aircraft .
Sprayed inside by opening all the baggage overhead bins and under seats .
• BLOCKS AWAY
- Sprayed after passengers enter the aircraft and after the aircraft
doors are closed . ( Basically during flight announcement and while before
taxing the aircraft for takeoff )
• TOP OF DESCENT
- Sprayed before the aircraft descents to the arrival airport and are
sprayed only on the air space above the aisle .
5. INGREDIENTS USED FOR EACH APPROACH
S.No FLIGHT APPROACH INGREDIENT COMPOSITION ( % )
1 PRE- FLIGHT PERMETHRIN 2 %
2 BLOCKS AWAY D- PHENOTHRIN 2 %
3 TOP OF DESCENT D – PHENOTHRIN 2 %
Please Note :
- PERMETHRIN are only used before passengers enter the aircraft because it provides a residual effect .
- D – PHENOTHRIN are used when passengers are on-board and provides a knock down effect . There are no
cases of difficulty from passengers informed as per WHO .
- Cases are only present : If Cabin crew uses the Permethrin aerosols for Blocks Away and Top Of Descent
Approach
6. COUNTRIES requiring “ KNOCK DOWN ” Aircraft Disinsection
• All Inbound flights from following countries require Disinsection when passengers are on-board
( ie. D- PHENOTHRIN ) – This means we cannot use PERMETHIRN aerosols here
PANAMA GUYANATRINIDAD & TOBAGO
GRENADA
INDIA
URUGUAY ZIMBABWE
ECUADORTANZANIA
KIRIBATI
MADAGASCAR SEYCHELLES
7. COUNTRIES requiring “ RESIDUAL ” Aircraft Disinsection
• All Flights bound to following countries requires Residual
Disinsection ( ie. Permethrin Insecticide only )
AUSTRALIA
CHILE
FIJIAUSTRALIABARBADOS
JAMAICACOOK ISLANDS
10. PREVENTION ALWAYS BETTER THAN CURE
• Our cabin crews protect and ensures the safety of our passengers
35,000ft to 40,000ft above and it’s always our sincere duty for the
people on ground to make sure our cabin crew and passengers are
safe from all the vector borne diseases .
• All the information for the Type of Approaches , Ingredients and List
of Countries are comprehended from World Health Organization
Guidelines manuals .
