2. We are going to read page 307 – 309 of the book which looks
at the fact that you have access to information. Many years
ago, before the internet, before all people could read, things
were different than they are now.
We shall take notes along the way about the sources of news.
We’ll do exercises examining the most popular Irish
newspapers, which over two million people still read in
Ireland. (One newspaper – 2 euro. Over 4 million euro a
week, over 200 million a year.)

3. I will need about nine people to read page 307 – 309 of your main
book. Raise hands after each paragraph and take notes.

(1983), Smartphone (1992).
(note) 4/5 adults read the news everyday.

feelings or opinions. A journalist job is to present facts,
including both sides of an argument.

4. Before moving to the activity book, you may be interested in
what are considered the most popular newspapers in
Ireland. On page 120 of your activity book then there is a
task.
(Task 1) Your looking for the words ‘Daily’, ‘Sunday’, ‘.ie or
.com’ in the Papers on page 120.
(Task 2) Try and create an interesting headline about each of
the categories on page 121. I suggest you start with sport of
TV, have fun and complete the page.
