4. Amhrán na bhFiann
Sinne Fianna Fáil, atá faoi gheall ag Éirinn,
Buíon dár slua thar toinn do ráinig chugainn,
Faoi mhóid bheith saor,
Seantír ár sinsear feasta,
Ní fhágfar faoin tíorán ná faoin tráill.
Anocht a théam sa bhearna bhaoil,
Le gean ar Ghaeil, chun báis nó saoil,
Le gunna-scréach faoi lámhach na bpiléar,
Seo libh canaig' amhrán na bhFiann.
This is the National Anthem
(give green card to anyone fluent enough to translate this on the spot
5. The Soldier’s Song
Soldiers are we, whose lives are pledged to Ireland,
Some have come from a land beyond the wave.
Sworn to be free, no more our ancient sireland,
Shall shelter the despot or the slave.
Tonight we man the ‘bearna bhaoil’ (gap of danger)
In Erin's cause, come woe or weal,
'Mid cannons' roar and rifles peal,
We'll chant a soldier's song.
This is the National Anthem
6. Rebellion and resistance were very important to the
Irish which is why so many of our symbols related to
that or christianity.
What you are interested in is more important today
though. Fill in the boxes on page 87 with words or
images showing what is important to you.
Activity Book – page 87
7. Action Report – take a note of what all the
committees were and what they did in 2-3 lines.
Each team can help this by creating a memo and
passing it around to everyone else.
This will help when expanding the full report.
