2. Wooden Cooking Spatula
I love cooking and that’s why I joined culinary course in college but my father
seems to strongly disagree what I’ve been doing as he wants me to become a
professional in the future. I love to cook as cooking can make my day better when I
cook for my family everyday. However I’ve always been thinking to quit the course to
fulfil my father’s wish. One day on my birthday, I made dinner for my family and
surprisingly my father was happy enjoying the dinner. Then I received a present from
him, I was really surprised when I received the present, it was a wooden cooking
spatula. I was in seventh heaven that time and hugged my father tight on that
moment, I’ve never thought that he’d support me on my course.
The wooden spatula eventually became one of my favourite as it was given
by my father, I couldn’t sleep at night but top not stop staring at the wooden spatula.
I was too excited so I went to try it out. It was really useful when I needed to turn the
food over when I was cooking. The spatula is made wide and flat so that it can pick
up food easily, which is wide as well. It is made up of wood therefore it is very light
and make myself more comfortable while cooking compared to the normal spatula.
After using it, I could see some parts of the wooden spatula turning black, especially
the front part, I was quite sad at that time but that’s how it should look like.
However, I love this wooden spatula too much, therefore I washed it after
cooking and brought it up to my room and made further observation. The wooden
spatula looks pretty normal, even simpler than the normal spatula. It is just a wood
which has been cut to the shape of spatula and it is very smooth. I felt curious so I
went to smell my wood and out of a sudden my father came in, he giggled and went
off, I was so embarrassed. The wooden spatula smells like normal wood and also
3. oily, the front smells like the fish I fried just now even though I’ve washed it well, the
smell just couldn’t go away.
Not only that, I then went and taste the wooden spatula with my tongue, I
always taste food but this is the first time I was going to taste an object. The handle
of the wooden spatula was tasteless but the feeling of my tongue was great, it was
very smooth. However, when I tasted the front of the wooden spatula, I could taste
the fish I cooked just now, it tasted really good. Enough of tasting, I was afraid that I
would get a stomach ache as there a a lot of germs around the wooden spatula.
When I grabbed it up, the feeling was just so great, it’s light and solid, I
played around with it acting like a kung-fu master hitting with the wooden spatula as
my weapon, fortunately this time my father didn’t come into my room. While I was
fighting, I accidentally hit some of the object in my room, it sounds normal and the
sound is loud, but not as sharp when you hit objects with steel and iron. It sounds
great that has lead me back to my drum memories, I hit it on my table like a
drumstick.
I was then exhausted and sit and rest at the side of my house beside the
pond because staying in the air-conditioned room while sweating can make my sick.
Unfortunately, there was no wind at all that night. I then used the wooden spatula to
swing beside my wind to create wind. I could hear a fast moving sound and a bit of
the smell of wood. I couldn’t stand the hotness and therefore I took a bath and sleep.
I will never forget this wooden spatula given by my father. It is a very useful tool in
the kitchen. As I use the wooden spatula gradually, the shape eventually follows the
shape of wok, that makes it work better. I’ve never encounter problems using this
4. great wooden spatula, then when I use it is just too good. It is the best birthday
present ever, I really love it and wish to keep it forever.
