Looking back at the preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the
1.
2. Managing time
I had to be able to manage my time according to the
deadlines I was given. I had to make sure that I took
photos of my model in time so that I as able to receive
any feedback. I had to make sure that the photos were
taken before I started my magazine as I was to
develop the magazine around the photos. I was told
that my first set of photos were blurry and that the
lighting was too dark. I took a second set of photos
and they turned out so much better then the first, so
taking photos early is beneficial.
I also had to make
sure that all my
editing had to be
on time. I had to
make sure I didn’t
take too long on
one section (front
page, contents or
double page) but
to make sure I
evenly spent time
on each.
3. Managing the model
I had to make sure that I was able to take photos of the
model I chose to use. To make sure the time I wished to take
photos was also a good time for the model. I also made sure
that I managed the styling of my model compared to the
preliminary magazine. Before I took photos of the model
around college therefore didn’t manage styling or props,
however for the main music magazine, I took the photos at
her home, therefore was able to style her in the way I
wanted her to look and so the model looked as if she
belonged in the genre of the magazine, therefore also
attracting the target audience.
4. Target audience
Gaining target audience research is really important
when creating a magazine. For the college magazine I
didn’t receive any target audience research, therefore I
was unable to relate my magazine to a specific group of
people, I also had no idea or template of what I wished
my magazine looked like. However for the main task I
was able to collect audience research and this helped
out a lot. I was able, when creating my magazine to
look back at the research and decide from it what I
wanted to put on my magazine.
