3. Alhambra Generalife and
Albaicyn in Granada
Alhambra, Generalife and Albayzín are
over the modern town. the Alhambra and
the Albaycín are situated on two hills and
they form the medieval part of Granada.
They represent an exceptional testimony
to Muslim Spain of the 16th century.
4. Historic Centre of Córdoba
Cordoba's period of greatest glory began in
the 8th century after the Moorish conquest.
Other rival cities can be Constantinople,
Damascus and Baghdad.
The River Guadalquivir is in the south of
Cordoba. The most important places are The
Mosque and The Alcazar.
5. Úbeda and Baeza
The two towns of Úbeda and Baeza are in
the south east of Spain, in the province of
Jaen. They began in the 9th century and
in the Reconquista period in the 13th
century they were very important. Their
architecture introduced the Italian
Renaissance style, but this style had
Islamic origins
6. The Cathedral In Sevilla
The cathedral and the Alcázar were built
between 1248 to the 16th century and
they have got Moorish influences. They
are a good testimony of the civilizations of
the Almohads and of the Christians too.
Its bell tower, the Giralda, was the
minaret of the mosque, a masterpiece of
Almohad architecture, it was designed in
the Renaissance period.
7. Doñana National Park in Jaén
Doñana National Park in Andalusia is in the
right bank of the Guadalquivir river at its
estuary on the Atlantic Ocean. There are
species of fish, amphibians, reptiles,
mammals and birds. It is the most
important stop for migrating birds crossing
Europe flying to Africa.
