The construction of the wall began in the 3rd
century A.D. and was rebuilt in separate pieces
to protect China from invaders. In 214 B.C.
Emperor Qin Shi Huang unified the country, and
he joined the walls together into one huge wall.
Life-size clay figures of 7,000 solders, horses, and
chariots stand in battle formation. These famous
figures were discovered by chance in 1,974.

Tiananmen Square, lies the Forbidden City,
now know as the Imperial Museum.
The Palace Museum began in 1,406 and
ended in 1,420. It took 200,000 workers and
100,000 artisans to build the Forbidden City.
The palace is now one of the most popular
tourist attractions in the world.
